JISC ITT: Synthesis on Outcomes from and Benefits of Digitised Resources

JISC invites tenders to undertake a synthesis study to collate evidence relating to the development and use of digitised resources, articulating both the benefits of such resources and the broader outcomes arising from their creation. The study should be primarily considered in the context of the impact on Higher and Further Education, although their influence on other stakeholders should also be taken into account.

The work should:

Draw on evidence related to JISC digitisation projects, associated reports commissioned by JISC and other non-JISC projects and reports.

Outline the outcomes from, and the benefits of, digitised resources according to the four key areas outlined in this ITT.

The deadline for proposals is 12 noon on Friday 11 December 2009 UK time. The work should start no later than Monday 8 February 2010 and be completed by 4 June 2010.

Funding of between £50,000 and £60,000 is available for this work including all travel and other expenses and any VAT implications.

A full version of the ITT can be found below.

ITT: Extension & development of LEAP2A (PIOP 3)

Taking forward the Portfolio Interoperability Prototyping (PIOP) work, JISC is seeking to further extend the LEAP2A specification to cover other systems or platforms; and to further develop the specification itself. In order to do this, JISC invites tenders to conduct up to ten mini-projects to implement user-controlled LEAP2A export and import on their own systems, produce associated documentation, and discuss and agree any resulting implications for the specification.

The aims of the work as a whole are to:

pilot and further develop the LEAP2A specification

ensure the development of LEAP2A continues to meet the needs of relevant systems and scenarios

inform the enhancement of the documentation

Total funding of £50,000 (including VAT, travel and subsistence) is available for this strand of work, with an envisaged allocation of £5,000 to each mini-project. Bids requesting less than this sum will also be considered.

All potential bidders are invited to a meeting in Birmingham on 23 November 2009 where background and further information will be provided on this work as well as previous PIOP activities. Further information

Bids are invited from those in a position to carry out development work on suitable existing systems. The deadline for proposals is 12 noon UK time on Friday 18 December 2009.

A full version of the ITT can be found below.

Further information about all of the above can be found in the full version of the call below. In order to further explain the priorities in the VRERI call, we have prepared a podcast. This podcast takes you through the most important paragraphs of the call.
