Idea Exchange: Helping Employers Through Rough Times

The OPEN (Occupational Performance Enhancement Network) program continues at Porter Hills, offering employees struggling with personal barriers access to a specialist who will come on site or to wherever hey are comfortable meeting to assist them with solving these challenges. This is a benefit offered in collaboration with other area health care providers, such as hospitals and competing long term care organizations. Porter Hills has taken a leadership role in the consortium of employers that oversees the OPEN program, ensuring the on-going success of this program. All employees accessing this program are at risk of losing their job due to personal challenges. As of 2007, over 80% of those who have utilized the program remain employed.
