– Blue Shield of California announced today that it has earned two prestigious awards for the company’s efforts to promote a healthier workplace. Blue Shield of California has been recognized as a Platinum-Level Start! Fit-Friendly Company by the American Heart Association’s Start! movement for getting employees to eat better and move more.
HCSC Listed As A Top Military Friendly Employer

Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) has been listed as one of the country’s top “Military Friendly Employers” by G.I. Jobs magazine. The recognition is significant because HCSC is the country’s largest customer-owned health insurer and operates Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans in Illinois, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. With only two percent of American companies on the list, HCSC’s inclusion is indicative of its commitment to diversity as well as its commitment to the military.

House Bill Fails To Deliver Affordable Healthcare Reform

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) issued the following statement regarding today’s House vote on H.R. 3962, the “Affordable Health Care for America Act”: We are disappointed that after months of rigorous debate and despite several analyses illustrating the very real unintended consequences of certain reform provisions, the House has passed legislation that undermines the goals of comprehensive healthcare reform. Instead of using this once-in-a-generation opportunity to expand coverage, rein in costs, and improve healthcare quality, the bill creates a new government-run plan that jeopardizes affordability and access to coverage for the 160 million people who receive their benefits through their employers today; makes health coverage much more expensive, particularly for individuals and small employers; and represents a massive federal takeover of state regulatory functions.

For breast and endometrial cancer, it seems to be an estrogen problem, he says. Women who are overweight after menopause have more estrogen circulating in their blood, which increases cancer risk.
