Happy New Year With Updates ❄️

Greetings everyone! I know, it's been months and months since my last blog post. There was a lot going on and I went MIA. Guess I shouldn't have done that because including y'all in our daily doin's is important to me. Thanks for sticking around. I sure do appreciate you all beyond measure. We're all fine.

Thankfully, no one is devastingly ill in our family, or anything, I just had to get the ketamine out of my body. It left me feeling non-plus and sad.

Notice the new header, profile photo and info? Yep. Updated that too. I'll explain the sans the motorbike below.

Briefly what's happened since August:

❄️ Late August the Church ministry at the Waycross Rehab we had initiated and were part of fell apart because of our Pastor's wife's health issues. Poor girl, she really suffered. Jackie didn't get out of her own Rehab's until late this year. She is now better and back in fine fettle as my Kentucky step-mom would have said.

❄️ September our area was struck by Cat 4 Hurricane Helene. I know that other areas suffered far worse but it left our place very devastated. There were downed trees, debris, houses & buildings ruined, loss of power, missing dogs, etc. everywhere. We were without power for 10 days. Even growing up in Central Florida I don't think I've ever gone through anything that trying because of weather. It was very hard but, God is good, we survived.

❄️ October Steve shot three deer. After processing our freezer is full. He'll try for at least one more but only because we're sharing the extra's with an indigent neighbor. Which, by the way, he, Tommy, the fellow many of us neighbors are helping, is doing better. He had both cataract surgeries awhile ago and also received relief for his injured shoulder. Now Tommy only needs to have his rotting, missing teeth fixed and move out of the hovel he's renting. Everyone is trying to help with that. Maybe he can find a good rental (or maybe buy a cheap house?) that takes him and his dog soon. We're praying about it. Things are looking up, anyway.

❄️ October we sold both motorbikes. Yep, you heard right. After 50+ years of riding, we've both hung up our 'spurs', so to speak. Riding the steel steeds is lot like riding a horse only they don't bite and they don't have to be fed everyday. 😁 Funny thing, thus far, I don't miss it. Not yet. I feel kinda relieved. Selling them had to be done. Some hobbies get to be too consuming of finances and time. Plus, it was prudent to move on. Do something else less strenuous.

❄️ November President Trump & Vice President Vance were voted into office. Praise the Lord! What an answer to prayer! I've been praying that the criminals in our Government will be removed. We must protect the children. Disagreeing over politics is OK, it's healthy, but what the Left were/are doing is criminal especially to the youngest and weakest. All this must stop. We celebrated Thanksgiving with Niece Deborah and her lovely family in Jacksonville. We had a good time. I love these get-togethers.

❄️ November our Nephew Bobby turned 33! 33?! Where did the time go?? That can't be right. I remember when he was born. Such an adorable little child. Had the cutest smile and infectious laugh. He grew up and is now a fine young man. We're very proud of him. He, his sister, and his parents are trying to move here. That would be super cool if they can.

❄️ We celebrated Christmas a little early this year with our dear Niece Deborah in Jacksonville. Attended Westside Baptist Church the Sunday before with her, her mom and her family. We had a great time. There are sweet, loving people attending there. Then we dined at the Longhorn's on Roosevelt. I had my Wild West Shrimp and a Blue Moon. Steve had the Grilled Salmon. Yum! Oh, how I wish we all lived closer. I always miss being around her and her family.

❄️ No New Year's celebrations for us. We both fell asleep in our easy chairs by 9 pm.

Other than daily doin's I think that's about it for the highlights. I'll try to do better with visiting everyone's blogs and posting.

Just Briefly: Trying To Reason With Hurricane Season

Howdy y'all!

Hurricane / Tropical Storm Debby is still upon us as I pen these words. Her 'skirt' (the backside of the storm) is still dumping on us right now. Our rain gauge registers 7 inches at this moment with more comin' down. It hasn't stopped. Pierce, which is our county here in Georgia, is totally flooded. So is Ware, Brantley, Appling and all the other surrounding counties. The roads, dirt and paved, are slowly collapsing or are a soupy, slippery mess. There are wrecks being reported all over. For safety reasons we've had to cancel the Ministry at the Rehab tomorrow, plus all the other appointments we were to keep. I am so grateful we never lost power, are safe and dry, no trees have fallen, and have lots of groceries on hand. Giving God the glory. Thank you everyone for asking and praying. Sending prayers for everyone else especially up in Savannah and beyond. They're catching it today and it's lower there since they are on the ocean.

We're good. I know God is in control and it will all go according to His perfect plan.

Monday Musings: Thoughts And A Keto Recipe

Good morning! I hope everyone had a delightful weekend? Ours was quiet, which is always nice. Didn't go anywhere or do anything of note on Saturday. Sunday was Church with all my dear sisters and brothers.

Afterwards we shopped at a new place called Warehouse 203 in Blackshear. They have "train wreck" items: second hand products sold at bargain basement prices. Unfortunately, it's super hot and humid here and they had no A/C in that metal shed. Even with the fans blasting away I wilted after about 5 seconds. I subsequently scooted back out to the truck, turned the A/C on full-blast, and waited on Steve to finish his purchases. Thanks to underactive thyroid my thermostat does not work too well.

On Sunday, we all learned that Jill Biden will not seek a re-election this November. Read that again. Y'all know that's true since according to sources she is the one that's been signing Bills and running the show for the dementia patient. So I hear the Democrats want to run the Queen of Word Salad, Kamala, instead. Good luck with that.🤣

I made the above dish a couple of days ago. It is pure heaven in a dish. This recipe is a true keeper. Trust me, it doesn't taste keto. It's rich, satisfying and tasty.

Keto Reese's Lava Brownie (link)

Ingredients
1 large Egg
1/3 cup Cottage Cheese
3 tablespoons unsweetened Cocoa Powder
1 serving sugar-free Chocolate Baking Chips
1 tablespoon softened sugar-free Peanut Butter

Directions
Blend all ingredients except peanut butter or chocolate chips.
Pour into a small greased glass dish. Stir in chocolate chips gently.
Microwave for 1.5 or 2 minutes. Watch closely.
Remove. Whilst warm drizzle softened peanut butter on drop. Enjoy!

Serves 2-4 depending on size of slices.

May what I share give God the glory and edify the Saints. Sunday, I woke up with a start. I dreamed(?) that Jesus Christ our Lord was standing at the door knocking with uncountable amounts of small lights before Him. Everything around the lights was in total blackness. Suddenly, He stopped. Then all the lights gathered together and shot straight up into the Heavenlies. I had to think about it for awhile because it was so startling. (I'm a slow thinker) During Bro. Bob's sermon it all together in my head. Jesus is giving everyone one final chance, then all of us who trust and believe in Him will be gathered up and removed. No, I don't know when and I'm not going to guess. That's up to Him. But, we are close.

Today it's laundry, clean house and yard before it's 100*, straighten this and that. The same 'ol same 'ol.

Good morning folks! What a weekend huh?

First of all I want to thank everyone who prayed for me concerning my sour attitude. Things feel a whole lot brighter. I know it's because y'all are Prayer Warriors plus Church was really fulfilling yesterday. I felt lighter inside after the uplifting service. God answers prayer and I'm super blessed that there are others who pray too with loving hearts. God bless you!

Now on to the sad news, there was an assignation attempt on President Donald J. Trump Saturday the 13th. Those of us who are keenly attuned to what is right and wrong according to God's Holy Word have been expecting an attempt what with all the hateful rants that spew from the hellish Leftist media and our Government. We're all aware that the ranting, raving, lies and threats was meant to enrage some looney tune to make such an attempt. Sadly, one innocent bystander was murdered, others wounded and many traumatized. Their lives are forever changed because of the evil hearts of those in 'power' and in the propaganda machine. But we know that God is bigger than all our silly doings. The Left mean it for evil but HE who is our God and King means it for good. [Genesis 5:20] I'm sure we're all praying for the victims families, for President Trump and his staff and family. My question is, how did the shooter get within 130 yards of our President on a rooftop and in plain view? Some in attendance even pointed the shooter out to authorities before the terrible event! Hmmm ... This kind of reminds me of how the CIA murdered President John F. Kennedy, his brother Bobby, and the men who did the dirty deed. I hope someone will follow the money trail on this one.

On to something more pleasant.

Today, our two Jack Russell Terriers brothers, Sam (left) and Jack, are 11 years old. Where did the time go? I remember those first few weeks after bringing them home. As puppies they were so rambunctious and destructive! I thought I was going to go completely crackers before they finally calmed down. I even threatened to take them back to the breeder at some point. Glad I didn't now. Now that we're feeding them "real" food from the table (cooked eggs, chicken gizzards, etc.) and not the store bought kind in a bag, their health has improved greatly. That's saving us major bucks too. It's so much cheaper to be healthy.

Why does the font suddenly change here on Blogger like that? Strange ... 🤔

This week will be busy. There are the usual errands of groceries and the like but one very important errand will be Steve taking our friend Tommy to his first eye appointment on Wednesday to start the ball rolling on the cataracts removal. Poor man is nearly blind now but good news is his life is improving as each month progresses. Things are looking up for him and that makes us all so happy! Thanking the Lord for answered prayer. And thank YOU for praying for him. Maybe soon Tommy can return to work too. He's really excited about that, I can tell.

The Weather ~ It is hotter than a Georgia Firecracker right now but that's normal for July. Any outside work is done very early, or at least we try to.

Yesterday a dead or dying Oak fell against the back fence which needed to be dealt with. Why do these things always seem to happen when it's miserable out? The chainsaw wouldn't start, so, I fetched the giant clippers and Hubby used the gas powered pole saw. By the time we were finished we felt rode hard and put away wet. We could hardly move out of our comfy recliners. It's rough getting old. I thanked the Lord anyway that it did get done, put on the firepit for later and we survived.

Watching ~ Back to back MST3K on YouTube. Some of the quips an one-liners are so hilarious I can't even drink my ice tea. We don't watch any major network news anymore. Makes life a lot sweeter staying away from the propaganda machines. It's all lies anyway no matter what channel one watches. Can I get an Amen? 😉

Feeling ~ A bit deflated lately. This started right after the May 8th event (Dislocated Finger) and daily now it seems to hang on in ever increasing volumes. This traumatic event seems to have knocked the ever lovin' stuffing outta me. Or maybe it's because I need to give up riding which was going to happen anyway? Who knows?! But lately small things are getting on my nerves. I feel like I was 'short' with someone at the Rehab Center! Bad girl! This is very unusual. I'm usually so upbeat, calm and friendly. Really, I'm quite joyful (because of Jesus). I love people and helping. I'm just not happy for some reason. Gotta shake this off! I do hope these feelings are only temporary. I don't like acting sad or being grumpy.

Looking Forward To ~ Having thick cut Rib Eyes tonight. I know this may sound odd but we pan fry ours with lots of salted Amish butter or rendered tallow (beef fat) and yummy spices. The Rib Eyes are so good cooked this way. Never dry or overcooked.

Thinking ~ How I need to stroll down in the blazing heat and biting bugs to the mailbox. Being debt free we seldom receive mail anymore but have some today. I only know there's mail because we're using that USPS Informed Delivery. That feature rocks!

Monday Musings: All Is Well

Greetings folks!

🏍️ It was nice taking a couple of weeks off from blogging. I may do that more frequently. Actually, we have been quite busy with "busy work", as we used to say, but I did need a break from another obligation. The "busy work" was the day-to-day dealings of life. Nothing bad. Everything is fine. Still attending Church. Still conducting the Wednesday ministry at the Waycross Rehab.

🏍️ My Dislocated Finger has good days and bad days but the good days are beginning to out number the bad. Thank you Lord for that. The bills are starting to roll in, which is fine. I've been expecting them. I'll be thankful to be done with all that.

🏍️ We're still trying to sell our motorbikes. Not even a nibble. I guess the economy is simply too poor right now. Gas, food, medicine, previous obligations must come first. I get that. Might come up with another plan.

🏍️ Rain has returned to our little dry neck of the woods which is an extra blessing from God. It's supposed to rain today, in fact. I can hear the thunder now.

🏍️ Here in America this our 248th 4th of July. This is when we celebrate our Independence from British tyranny. Well, it didn't last long did it. Our Country started the downhill spiral about 1850, slid even faster since the Gilded Age in 1892, and from there it hasn't stopped, in fact, it's escalated. Anyway, we continue on. It will be a short week for many. Every day I try to pray for our Country as all who read this blog and others must do as well. We all pray that the criminals running the Government will be removed and good Christian people put in their place that we will no longer suffer from their oppression and loss of human rights. May we turn our hearts back to Jesus Christ our Saviour, pray for forgiveness, stop glorifying sin, stop harming children and each other, and then may God shower His gentle mercy on us.

🏍️ Oh, I also did want to share something I think is kinda neat. Our home is located about 150 feet from the road where our mail box is. It's often hard to tell if or when the mail is delivered. Recently I learned about something called Informed Delivery by USPS. I signed up and it works fairly well. If there's expected deliveries that day, the site will either e-mail or text the homeowner. Click the link and at the Dashboard the homeowner can see what is expected to be delivered, if it wasn't delivered USPS can be notified, and that it was indeed delivered. This includes packages sent through them. Super cool, right?! It lags a little behind but I like having this feature. Just thought I'd share that nifty feature.

Monday Musings: In A Relationship With An Air Conditioner

Who can relate? 🙋🏼😆

Gosh, it's been hot. 🌞 And it's dry as powdered toast. We need rain badly! The weekend was going along swimmingly, we were chillin' inside after Church, then late in the afternoon our big, beautiful, expensive Trane central air conditioning unit decided that 3 years was long enough to behave and it quit cooling. "WHAT??!!!" 😒 was my first reaction. Not cool (literally). Ok. DON'T PANIC (I did). 🤦🏼 To keep me from whining Steve retrieved the 8,000 btu window unit from storage. Panic subsiding. We keep this one on hand ever since the last time the A/C quit. It doesn't cool like the big unit but it does alright.

Note to those living in Southern climes or other areas were heat is brutal: keep one of these bad boys on hand for just these kind of occasions. We can't afford one of our usual local A/C repair people anymore since they upped their call outs to $300, so, we've hired a fella from Church for repairs. This will be our first time using him. I pray he's a good one.

Thus, I sit waiting for help to arrive. It's all good though. God is still in control and whatever happens may it bring Him glory. It's His Royal Way. Amen?!

To cheer me up, my dear blogging buddy at MadSnapper sent some pretty cool (there's that word again) graphics of the swirl she made on her blog recently. Mad is so talented! I tried to figure it out on my own with Corel PaintShop Pro but this is above my pay grade. Which one is best? I like 'em all. Thanks MadSnapper!

We've had a couple of nibbles on selling the motorbikes. Thank you everyone for the prayers. There's nothing concrete yet, though. I think the economy may be suffering too much to sell anything other than necessities like food, medicine or gas right now. We can wait. I know everyone is trying to survive. All in God's time.

Well, I'd better go. That laundry isn't going to finish itself.

My 16th Blogoversary And A Birthday

🎉 June 15th, 2008, I made my first blog post. 🎉 What a greenhorn I was! I had no clue as to what to write about or who would care. I had no audience or contacts yet. Off I went blissfully ignorant of all these things and more, dipping my toes into the warm writing pool along with everyone else hoping someone would notice. Eventually others did (thank you!) and it went from there. Back in those days Blogger had a "Next Blog" button on the upper right hand side where we could proceed from wherever we were to the next blog of like minds. Remember that? I miss that feature because I made lots of contacts who became friends that way. It was fun to go exploring other blogs. Most of the time lately it's been a "friends of friends" type of contact where I'll leave a comment somewhere and some kind person will click my link to see what's up and maybe 'follow'. That's fine too. I've done that lots of times. As long as we get to talk to one another, share ideas, opinions, recipes, photos, life events or simply polish our writing skills, it's all good. Writing keeps me sharp that's for sure. Sadly, some of my original blogging friends have passed into Glory, others have fallen by the wayside or moved on for whatever reason, but I appreciate you all 🙌 whether an old friend or a new one and the time we all spend together. I do miss the ones that have passed or are no longer blogging. Lord willin' I hope to keep blogging for many more years unless the Rapture happens or God calls me Home some other way.

Also, today, is what we believe to be our Maggie's 5th birthday. 🥳🎈 When we rescued her as a puppy, it was her, her brother and one other possible sibling that got away. That was almost five years ago when we found them abandoned, starving, and obviously living in neglect, on our nearby country road that cold October morning. I had no idea how much our lives would change for the better that day. We were heading for a Day Trip but immediately canceled that plan after the puppies were in the truck. Took the poor little mites home, named them, bathed them, pampered them, took them to the Vet for a check-up and shots the next day and eventually bought personalized collars for the new crew. The Vet estimated that June 15th, 2019, was their day of birth. I had every intention of keeping them both, but, after awhile the Boys (our Jack Russell Terriers Jack and Sam) did not like the male. They liked Maggie just fine. What to do? I owed the Boys first, of course, thus we sold Sport to a local fella so his mother, who had just lost her dog of many years, would not be lonely. I think about her brother Sport from time to time. The guy who bought Sport kindly sent photos of him after being groomed and his new home with that fellas mother. I'll bet he's matured into a good dog too.

As y'all can see Maggie is my little buddy. She even 'helps' me with everything even blogging. I call her Brat but she really is a sweetie. She's the smartest, friendliest, most fun dog we've ever owned. God knew what I needed even before I knew I needed her! He's always looking out for us, isn't He!? 💗

Let me end with a heartfelt thanks for joining me in this journey of virtual journaling. I know y'all are praying too but please keep petitioning the Lord concerning our Country. I know God hears and answers all prayers according to His will and may His will be done but the criminals running this Country really need to be gone. 😟 So many people are hurting terribly especially children. This past week and weekend has been quiet for us. It's only been running errands, buying groceries, housework, and so forth. The Wednesday ministry at the Rehab Center went well. There's still quite a few residents showing up. It's lots of fun and I'm making new friends with some there. After the service and before leaving all the Church members try to walk through the group to pray and chat. I highly recommend this type of ministry for anyone looking for some way to share the Gospel and help others. This edifies me too. So I'm sitting here in my nice air conditioned home, counting my blessings that things could be a whole lot different and not for the better. Thank you Lord for these blessings and more.

Have y'all noticed that as we age we mark our days by medical events? These type of medical things seem to happen with more frequency with each passing birthday.

Last Friday the silliest thing happened. I was walking across the yard, on level ground mind you, and felt my right ankle go *snap*, then there was this burning pain. Ouch! Seems I sprained my ankle simply walking!? What?! It's not super bad, only annoying. I'm resting it, elevating the ankle, putting ice on it, then wrapping it gently so I can walk a little. I feel confused. Don't know how this happened. At any rate at least my Dislocated Finger is improving every day. I can almost bend it like before. I've been using a small soft stress ball to exercise the whole hand. That works wonders.

The motorbikes are now officially on the market [Craigslist].Craigslist now charges $5 to sell a vehicle. Guess they had to because of the rampant inflation. Anyway, please pray that the bikes will sell? Thanks my friends. This is so hard for us to do but it's time. Just can't take the chance of a catastrophic fall, you know? *sigh* It hurts though. I'll get over it. I always do. Oh, and I am going to keep all my gear, you know, "just in case" I can ever get back into it. One can hope! 😁

Our weekend was really quiet. Now that my Dislocated Finger is almost completely healed, except for some lingering stiffness, I can get some planned projects done. It's been unseasonably cool this June in Southeast Georgia which is really nice. That should help with me getting a little more yardwork completed before it gets blazing hot if I can get up out of this chair. 😉

We received a little unsettling news Sunday. Our Pastor's wife is not doing well at all. Ms. Jackie is such a wonderful person. She was released from the Rehab Center last week. It breaks our hearts that she's struggling so much physically. Anyway, Bro. Bob is having to chose between caregiving for his dear wife or continuing on with our small congregation (there were only 17 or so of us this Sunday). There are going to have to be some hard decisions made concerning his time with us, like, should we find another Pastor or perhaps try to hire a part-time one or perhaps shutter the Church or ... well, who knows. 😟 Seems the Wednesday Rehab ministry may come to a close as well. I know this saddens him greatly. Such a fine man and he loves the Lord Jesus. We're all praying for guidance. I know I don't want to be Church shopping again. I love everyone in this congregation. I don't want us all split up and cast to the winds. 🥺 So, there's that.

Also, because of our ages and other factors we've decided to sell our motorbikes. I know, right?!! Sparky without wheels!!?? 🏍️ One 'sad news' on top of another. Well, there comes a time to move on. We were talking about riding risks last week and even I can see that I don't want any more injuries. Funny thing, I've been riding since knee high to a grasshopper, SCUBA diving, racing on 4 wheels, doing other risky hobbies, and never been badly hurt. The only injuries I've ever received were when walking around. But if I, or he, were to go down in a highspeed ride at our ages, it could be devastating. It might be time to move on to another less risky hobby. It was a tough decision but this weekend Steve put both motorbikes For Sale in the local shopper. When they're gone it's gonna feel like I've lost an arm or something. (I know, Drama Queen. 😏) I love motorbiking! It's my life. I'm really having to give this to God and pray for His peace and guidance. Thanks for joining me in this prayer. 💓

Ok, good news, awhile back I mention that one of our Jack Russell Terriers, Jack, was ailing. His digestive tract has always been dodgy. The other two are healthy no matter what they eat, it seems. Well, Steve decided to start feeding all three dogs more home cooked plain meals (chicken gizzards, cheap hamburger, eggs, etc.). We've been doing just that for a few weeks now and Jack's health has improved! Praise the Lord. The little guy no longer has tummy pains, he's lost weight (he was continuously bloated), his breath smells better, and he's more energetic. Also, home cooked is much cheaper than any store bought dog food. Win-win!

Thursday Thoughts

Yesterday's Church services at the Rehab center went well. There were fewer residents than the last one but that's possibly due to people coming and going as they heal and other reasons. Whatever the future holds we plan to keep soldiering on until instructed to do otherwise.

Steve is not unhappy. He was simply caught unawares. We had a good time listening to the Gospel, singing a couple of old hymns, then praying together. There were even fewer Church members that could show up but those of us who could tried to keep the joy going and move through the participants to pray individually with anyone who wanted comfort or had a need before leaving. These photos were snapped by our Pastor's wife. She was playing with my new little yellow camera. I told her the photos looked like a filming of a Batman episode. Ms. Jackie is always such fun. In other news we heard something good concerning our not-too-distant neighbor Mr. Tommy (the one the Church gave the A/C to on Monday). Yesterday, in a scheduled phone call with the Government, he received the welcome news that he will receive the partial SSI funding with medical insurance he requested almost a year ago. Now he can find an eye surgeon so he can get in line for the much needed cataract replacement surgery. He wants so desperately to rejoin the workforce and also move to a more desirable neighborhood. Possibly even be able to drive again some day. Yippee! My heart is singing to our Lord in praise for His infinite kindness. God answers prayer y'all. Thank you Lord! We're all so very excited for him. Thank you everyone else who has been praying about this too.

Today, it's mundane things: laundry, light yardwork, clean the house and other housewifey things. My Dislocated Finger is almost completely healed but I still can't grasp a clutch for more than a few seconds. I'll keep working on strengthening my grip so I can ride again. I certainly do not want an automatic. Might was well buy a sports car if it comes to that ....

Hmmm ... now that's a thought ... 😉

I'm a day late and dollar short on posting for yesterday. Sometimes I feel like the White Rabbit in Alice In Wonderland mumbling, "I'm late! I'm late!" 😂

Steve is in the kitchen right now humming a lively tune as he is making Cucumber Sandwiches for later. I've been wanting to try one of these sandwiches since forever. I think it's easy enough to make them so that even someone who is Recipe Impaired as I can do pretty well. He said he will take the remainder of the cucumbers and make cucumber salad for tomorrow. That goes so good with grilled Rib Eyes and garlic bread. Yum!

On Sunday the Church kindly voted to pay for Mr. Tommy's A/C. I searched diligently for the best price with a warranty. Walmart had the best deal, so, yesterday we drove there to pick it up. Ordering it on-line then picking it up at the store I saved (well, the Church saved) $31.00. Every little bit helps. Steve installed it in his trailer yesterday afternoon. He said it felt like it was over 100* in there. Bless his heart. I'm so grateful to attend a Church with such wonderful, generous, loving, living the Christian life folks! We are small in number and pocket but big in heart. 💞

By the way, the background image on the blog is a photo of some of our Palmetto's this year. They have bloomed like crazy because of all the rain. That means there will be lots of berries. Aren't they pretty?

I'll close for now. It's too hot out to do any work. Guess I'll spend the afternoon finishing up the "God's Smuggler" book by Brother Andrew. What an adventurous life he's lead! It's making me reexamine if I'm trusting in the Lord as much as I should too. I can see lots of mistakes I've been making about not believing in how big and great He truly is.

Sanguine Saturday

The Ortho Doc released me on Friday. My Dislocated Finger is almost completely healed. He was amazed at how quickly that happened. That made me smile. I know why. Anyway, I'm so grateful to not have to go to a Doctor for awhile. God is good!

We were planning on running a couple of errands this morning but during my early morning prayer walk and devotional, I spied that this had fallen inches from our front gate and across the driveway!

At this point the gate could not be opened without a great deal of effort and the fence must be repaired so Little Miss Escape Artist (Maggie the dog) couldn't get out. "Ok, Lord, I see we are to be delayed or perhaps remain at home," were my thoughts. We have opted to stay put, at least for now. He's either protecting us from something harmful or He wants us do be available for something. Whatever His plans are may this bring Him glory.

The fence is fixed (better than before too!) and the area cleaned up. Time for lunch coffee. Right now I'm watching old films on YouTube. It is nice to sit and relax.

What are y'all doing this weekend? Other than Church tomorrow I 'suppose we'll be staying close to home unless God has other plans.

Thursday Thoughts

Good morning!

Yesterday's Church service at the Rehab center went fairly well. There are still a few 'bugs' to work out but we're going to keep at it as long as the Lord wants us there. Between 20-30 of the residents and staff showed up off and on to participate in the songs and Amens. It really warmed all our hearts to see all those smiling faces rejoicing in His Word. I'm not showing the residents faces to protect their privacy because I didn't ask their permission.

During the service (YouTube link) there was a lot of background noise, music over the loud speakers and other distractions. Plus Bro. Bob didn't have a microphone. It wasn't until this morning that we did at least one thing wrong. We forgot, I forgot, to begin in a group prayer! *face palm* I'm so forgetful sometimes. Anyway, I know this because during my morning devotional which was on John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don't let your heart be troubled or fearful." The lady that wrote today's devotional for Journey-Daily Devotionals For Women was distracted by noise as she was trying to worship, so, she became frustrated and angry. Then it dawned on her, she should have prayed instead of getting emotional. Hmmm ... that's my error. Lesson learned.

Right?! Keep sparkling! Because my earthly father was habitually cruel, critical, vulgar, full of anger, I tend to be terribly hard on myself when things "don't go right". Mistakes aren't the end of the world. They don't define me. They don't define you either, never forget that. Our Heavenly Father is loving, forgiving, kind, generous, gentle and knows we are only dust. Amen?! We learn, dust ourselves off, adjust our thoughts to Him, then keep moving forward. I am so thankful that I now have a real Father that loves me. I want to reflect Him more and me less. 💙

In other news, our Nephew-in-love is out of Hospital. The final diagnosis, I believe I have this correctly, was 'only' double pneumonia, not that that isn't serious. The Doctor(s) put him in a very nice room for a couple of days on a slow antibiotic drip. Yesterday he was released into his wife's loving care about Noon. It's such a relief to have him home and on the mend. Thank you for praying dear Saints!

My Dislocated Finger is healing rapidly for which I give God the glory. The stitches fell out last Friday. I haven't worn the brace since then except when sleeping. I've even quit wearing the brace since last night. The healing is so perfect it's almost like it didn't even happen except for the scar and some slight swelling over the wound. I see the Orthopedic Doctor tomorrow. I really expect him to release me. All that needs to be done is Physical Therapy which can be done at home. I have the list of finger exercises. The clutch on my motorbike is on the left side. When I can grip the clutch without pain or trouble I'm riding. Of the mornings it's not ultra-hot yet and our little dirt road is like a super highway after the last time it was graded. The Road Department actually did a great job.

Thank you for the birthday greetings and well wishes! Yesterday was really nice. First we stopped by our watering hole Southern Sippin' for a cuppa their specialty coffee. Then we took off shopping in Waycross for a couple of hours. I'd venture to say that I have hung at least 40 wind chimes all over the property, in the garden, on the porches, and inside the house. I've been wanting a new wind chime (like, I don't have enough all ready!). Steve understand my "addiction" and took me to Tractor Supply to pick out another one.

I had a really difficult time deciding which one to bring home! They all looked so pretty. This one the butterflies twirl in the middle and has the loveliest mellow jingle underneath. My dear friend Vicki gifted specialty coffee called "Jamacia Me Crazy" and a pair of 4th of July earrings. She's always so sweet.

Today it's back to normal operating procedures. I'm washing clothes, cleaning the house, watering the flowers, picking up limbs (gently) in the yard, and so forth. Oh, and posting here, of course. I want to mow but Steve said, "Um, that's a big negatory!" 😁 He's more worried about me reinjuring the finger than I am.

Our Church's new ministry is scheduled to start tomorrow. Many of us had been praying for a more active participation in the community to lead the lost to Christ and edify our neighbors. God laid it on our Pastor's heart to show up at the Rehab Center where his wife is currently residing to sing Hymns, witness, break bread with, pray with and give comfort to those that possibly have no one to care or anyone local to visit. I do so worry that some may not feel needed or loved. That's a terrible emotional state to be in. So a few of us have agreed to meet there around 10 am for a couple of hours a week. It's quite a distance for some in the Church, so, I am praying we can all afford the fuel to get there and back. I feel confident, though, that the good Lord God of all will provide according to His will. He always does. May it bring Him glory and more crowns to cast at Jesus' feet on that Glorious Day.

I'll leave y'all with this. Let's pray for boldness to keep witnessing for Christ, being generous & kind, and looking up for Him, and that we may be removed out of the way soon of the wrath to come. Monday Musings And Another Birthday

This weekend was massive amounts of rain which meant it was very quiet. I'm half way through the book God's Smuggler by Brother Andrew. What a life he's lead for Jesus! Such an amazing story.

Then Sunday evening after supper we received an urgent text message from our dear niece in Jacksonville, Florida that her husband was in the Emergency Room with strange back pain that could "possibly be blood clots, kidney stones, gall bladder, pulmonary embolism, pleurisy or late stage flu." His blood pressure was really elevated too. We suited up with the armor of God's Holy Word and went into prayer warrior mode and called into action all the Church for prayer. I know God's got this. As I write this (late Sunday evening) we're still waiting for results but it "could be" pneumonia. Something called "multi focal pneumonia". Possibly also diabetic with a cardiac event. Golly. I'll probably know more by later today.

This is me as a newborn from 68 years ago! 🎈 🥳 I was 2 days old in the photo. It's true that time flies when you're having fun because it seems like I just graduated from High School and was heading out into the unknown. Today, Steve is taking me shopping, then he will be cooking me a special meal for supper. I would say he would also treat me with doing the dishes but he's been doing that since my finger boondoggle.

The finger, by the way, is doing extremely well! The stitches fell out last Friday. The brace has been off, except to sleep, since then. I'm doing the finger stretching exercises the Doc gave me at the last visit. Plus I'm back to typing with both hands again. Thank you Lord Jesus. Healing is rapid when off the sugar & carb's. That says a lot. I don't ever want to go back to being a sugar addict.

Thursday Thoughts

Ok, I know, it's only been one week but I've decided that the new space age brace has got to stay off 😬 except to sleep or if I leave the house! It's making me coo coo bananas! Whilst at home I'm going to spend this time gently flexing the fingers and wrist. I don't want to lose flexibility in these fingers. The left is me clutch hand. This may not be the smartest thing I've done all year but I'm going to give it a go. I am healing super fast since I don't eat sugar/carbs. Even the bruising is already gone!

So, Steve has very kindly volunteered to ride to Walgreen's to buy one of these for me to wear on the pinky around the house:

The splint is only $7.29. I pray it does the trick. Hope I'm not being foolish.

And, yes, I said he'd ride. 😎 Little stinker. Not fair I wanna ride too. 😁 The temp's have been pleasant of the morning. Isn't he cute in all his gear ladies? 😍 We try to always ATGATT (all the gear all the time) when motorcycling. Safety is cuteness on two wheels .. to me.

Guess I'll play around with me genealogy sites while he's out being sweet. Can't get into any finger problems there. 😜 Thanks for stopping by and for your prayers.

Hi y'all! Just briefly because the trauma to my finger is making me weary with all errands and housekeeping that still must be performed.

It has been raining like gangbusters for the past 12 to 18 hours. Our poorly maintained country dirt road is a bloody sloppy mess. Yesterday the battery in our 4 year old Nissan Frontier pickup died. These new jell batteries give one zero warning when they are about to quit. God is good. At least it's up under the carport and we do have other transportation. So, that must be dealt with today. In the pouring rain.

The Ortho Doc's office called in a new antibiotic for me. It's Sulfameth/Trimeth 400-80mg. Had my first pill with breakfast. So far, so good. No tummy upset or nausea or the other end. 🥹

Our Church has decided to take on a new ministry which has me very excited! I'll share more later.

Amen?!? Well, we still need groceries. Guess we'd better get to it.

A brief weekend recap:

Forgot to mention that on Friday I was given my new space age splint. It is infinitely more comfortable than the quick, bulky wrap received at Hospital. The young fella that wrapped my hand did a good job but it was really uncomfortable to wear for too long. The new one can get wet or be removed easily. Super cool.

Saturday, we drove around the County looking at homes For Sale for Steve's little sister and family. They're hoping that soon they can list their South Florida home on the market to live here. All this exploring is adding to my knowledge about our area that even after over 35 years I didn't know! To me looking at land and houses is fun.

After returning home I was walking one of my prayer circles around the property. (That's when I try to go through the entire prayer list.) Nearly to the house, walking in the driveway, I began limping from something stuck to the bottom of my Skechers. I thought it was a pine cone. Well, it wasn't!!! It appears to be one of the original nails from when the house was being built 31 years ago! The rusty nail nearly pushed clear through the rubber sole into my big toe. Yipes! That sure could have been much worse. God was protecting me for sure.

Back inside a transformer had blown somewhere on our country road and everyone had lost power. Thank the good Lord for the All-House Generator that roared to life keeping all those costly groceries at a good temp.

That evening I was sick as a dog from the antibiotics (Amoxicillin-clavulanate)! Turned me inside out upside down and backwards. Ugh. I've quit taking anymore. I'll call the Doc today to ask for something else.

"Wow," I thought, "we're under attack, or, at least I am." I stopped right then and rebuked Satan openly, giving praise to our blessed Saviour for a strong hedge of protection. Satan has to leave when we rebuke him in Jesus name. I know y'all know this too, but, that spiritual warfare is real. 🛡️✝️

I hope everyone had a good Mother's Day on Sunday? I missed Church because I lost so much sleep from the medicine debacle. Now I feel discombobulated. 🙃 It's all good though. Everything happens for a reason. At least the aurora borealis was pretty. No pics. I was too unwell for walking around outside.

Not sure what is planned for today or the week. I guess we'll play it by ear. Can't do much else except read or light housework or drive around just yet. Oh, I am reading a new book titled, "God's Smuggler" by Brother Andrew with John and Elizabeth Sherrill. It's a true-life thriller that takes place during World War II and beyond. This young Dutch fella goes from rebel to working undercover for God. So far it's really holding my attention.

When Life Gives You The Finger

Such a true statement, right?! No matter what life or circumstances throw at us God's got this. Yesterday He really held me close!

I've been put on light duty for several days. Maybe a month or more. Why? My Facebook friends know already, so, apologies for repeating myself. Y'all get to hear the story again. Lucky you. 😁 I am having to type all this with one good hand.

Yesterday we went Rehab visiting as planned. Ms. Jackie seems to be improving daily. I think everyone had a dandy time. I know Steve and I did. These folks at our Church are just the salt of the earth: kind, generous, thoughtful and true Prayer Warriors.

After the visit, it was the Noon hour but for some reason I've now forgotten, couldn't decide on where to eat. So we went our separate ways. We went on to Southern Sippin' in Blackshear. Had my weekly sugar-free Hazelnut Frozen Frappe since it was also a fasting day for us. Jesus was further protecting me for what was next!

Next we stopped by the Courthouse Annex to vote in early Primaries. I had my answers of "Yes" or "No" to the long list of local questions to vote on. I pushed all the Dominion machine buttons to send my opinions to the Chinese overlords, handed in the printed sheet they give us to be counted, started walking down the new long hallway they put in to leave, and promptly tripped on a pipe laying across the hallway! I must have fell slightly to the right but hands straight out. I was so stunned I laid there feeling like a fool when I glanced at my left hand and saw this ...

Yes, the bones on my pinky are separated. The technical term is: Dislocated Finger. There was very little blood or even pain. I had stood back up thinking I was none-the-worse for wear, only a bruised ego, but this changed our entire afternoon. I looked at the damage and my knees started to buckle as Steve grabbed me in a sweet bear hug to protect and comfort before I went into shock. Everyone, I mean everyone in that small sphere, stopped to offer aid. The Deputy on duty immediately dialed 9-1-1. The Fire Department was there so quick it was like they were just outside the door. Right behind them was a lovely young lady named Ellen, whom I later learned is a Nurse or other medical professional, who had come by to pay her property taxes, came over to comfort and advise. I had already gone into Survival Mode by first removing all jewelry (over the injury before it swelled!), holding my arm pointed up, and remaining calm. Ellen and everyone kept encouraging me in my predicament saying I was so brave. I told them over and over that it was Jesus holding me together. He knows where I am, what was happening and what the outcome would be. The EMT's arrived directly. I walked out to the ambulance, climbed in after they practically had to remove Steve's shirt from my good hand I was gripping so tightly, I plopped into the gurney, gave them all my vitals, they pumped me full of drugs, and off we went to Hospital 20 minutes away. Steve followed right behind. Thank heavens he rescued my scattered personals after the fall.

By the way, that drug they gave me for the free ride in a County vehicle, was simply dreadful. After I finally came out of the stupor, I told them to NEVER give me that junk again. It's called ketamine. It would take too long to describe how horrible that stuff made me feel. I'd rather have the pain. For real.

So, I'm having to fly on one wing for awhile; can't ride or do any heavy lifting. If I'm not commenting or posting much, this is why. I'm Ok. It's merely an inconvenience in a world full of much bigger problems.

It has gotten so dry .... I think I even saw a camel caravan go by. 🐪🐪😅 We need rain. Seems like I'm spending all my time watering the plants since the wet stuff quit us. The dirt road is so sandy I wouldn't dare try to ride down it on street tires. My allergies have gone wacky(er). 🤧 Since there's so much land the grass is on it's own. This makes me especially thankful I planted centipede grass. It's wonderfully drought tolerant. Takes very little care to maintain it.

Having a subscription to BritBox streaming is wonderful now that our area has high-speed internet. I don't think I could ever go back to being tethered to cable or satellite TV. I'm hooked on watching all The Doctor Blake Mysteries (Australian) and also the Kavanaugh Q.C. with John Thaw (British). After all this time of watching many Brit TV shows and films, John Thaw has become one of my favorite British actors. It's a shame he passed so young.

Anyone else taking Desiccated Thyroid medications, or any other drug for that matter, that are having trouble getting refills without breaking the bank? 💸 My NP Thyroid has shot up from $39 for 90 days to $133! No inflation my big toe Joe! 😡 Apparently there's a shortage because of the Government. For me and thousands of others this medication is our lifeline to good health. Without it, I, or anyone else with hypothyroidism, will stop functioning. None of us are going to survive this criminal 🤥 Admin if they're not all removed soon. 💩

Sometimes, I just want to sit and cry, but, I refuse to dwell on it. That's pointless, right? Some how we'll cope. We always do. I chose to give it to God. He promises (paraphrased) that His yoke is easy and the burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30) He never gets tired, fails to keep promises or lies. Amen!? 🤲

So, today we meet some of the Church ladies to go visiting at the local Rehab center in Waycross. Our Pastor's wife Jackie is there, hopefully healing, from blood clots, double pneumonia, infection, and other awful things. She's a dear. We all miss her so much. Afterwards the group plan to lunch at a local restaurant. Since we don't eat a Noon meal anymore I think Steve & I will stick with the coffee. ☕ Saves money. Besides, I don't need so much food anymore. I mostly only want to spend time with our precious Church family. They always lift me up spiritually. "Iron sharpens iron". (Proverbs 27:17) I appreciate them all so much.

Tuesday Tidbits

Gosh, it's gotten hot all of a sudden. This morning was cool but it's creeping up to 90*+ as the day progresses.

I watered everything early when it was at it's coolest (about 62*). The air felt very nice. This is what I look like whenever I'm out in the yard now that the biting flies have hatched. Southeast Georgia has Deer Flies, Yellow Flies, Horseflies, Mosquitoes, and on and on. Then there's the non-biting ones like gnats. They simply drive one mad what with getting in our eyes, ears, noses, etc. So I'm covered up! I wish there was a hat or net for doggies so they wouldn't have to walk around snapping at these pests the whole time. They really suffer but always endure, for awhile, so as to be close to me. They have their own pet door so as to pop back inside (or out) whenever the mood moves them. Ok, I spoil 'em. I admit it. I would want to be treated the same way.

Thank you for the kind words about Tommy yesterday and his situations. The air conditioner can not be repaired. Oh well. Time to take another tack. Not concerned as God's got this. At least Tommy has lots of fans and he says he can take it. He's tougher than me! I would have been whining to high Heaven about the heat already. Just ask my husband. He's had endure a moment when on a blazing, hot 4th of July ours quit working. Yeah. I'll bet they heard me fussing in the next county! 😂😂

I cooked more dog treats this morning. We've been feeding our three fresh cooked, locally raised chicken gizzards for treats. It's so much cheaper and safer than anything the Chinese conglomerates churn out plus it has no grains or artificial chemicals or additives. We're saving boo coo bucks and helping them be healthy too eating the same way we do. Win-win! All three of them stay in the kitchen with me, salivating, watching my every move. They are so cute.

I also cooked my specialty Keto no-sugar added Chocolate Treats for us. It's something I fix on the stove. It usually takes only about 8 to 10 minutes tops. Those are all the ingredients and utensils above: Amish Butter and Lily's Dark Chocolate Baking Chips (no-sugar added). First, I gently melt about 1/2 the stick of butter. Be careful not to burn the butter. Then slowly add one overflowing cup (1 cup) of Lily's Dark Chocolate Chips. Stir well until completely melted. I add it to an ice cube tray with a long metal spoon so I won't burn myself. Refrigerate. Do not freeze. *boom* You've got a low-sugar treat! For the ice cube tray I bought these silicone ones on Amazon. They're only $9.99 for 4 of them or they may be available locally for y'all. We live way out in the boonies. None of our stores carry these but keeping these trays around is very practical. They are good for ice cubes too. 😉

Well, mail's in. Guess I'll go see if anyone has sent us a Million Bucks. 😁 First I have to suit up again with the net, hat, long sleeves ... 😬 the fun never ends. 🙄🤣
