Burger King Toys 2023

The release of Burger King toys in 2023 has been a bit sporadic. Distribution frequency has slowed down since the heyday when promotions changed regularly. Nonetheless there are still a bunch of cool BK toys promotions in 2023 to keep collectors interested.

If you are not a fan of paper-based toys you will be pleased to know that for the most part Burger King is continuing with plastic toys. However, it has stated that it intends to move to sustainable toys long-term so plastic toys will be phased out. This year there has only been one promotion for paper toys which is the Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse set otherwise all toys to date in 2023 are plastic.

Burger King released the Emoji Soccer toys in the US on January 16, 2023. There are 15 plush toys to collect in the complete set. Each toy features a different country participating in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and is denoted by the flag of that country.

These toys were available in other countries in 2022 and of course Argentina that eventually won the event. (For the Argentinian toy look for the blue and white striped one wearing sunglasses).

A promotion of the full set of Burger King Sonic toys 2023 began in the US on March 6. This is a collection of 6 Sonic-themed fidget toys. The cards were issued in packs of four along with sticker sheets, a deck box and photo frames.

Sonic Emerald Game
A mini skee ball type game with the object to get the green Chaos gem into the Knuckles or Sonic basket. Fight out with a buddy to see who can score first.

Dr. Eggman (aka Dr Robotnik) Fidget Spinner
Yellow fidget spinner with three lobes. Removable clip. Hold by clip and spin.

Sonic Pop it Ring
Three pop-its to make a popping sound when pushed in. Hold by yellow ring clasp which allows the toy to be attached to a belt or backpack.

Tails Spinner Game
Tails themed ring game similar to orbit ring toy. The object of the game is to get the barrel inside to spin around (loop the loop) by shaking and manoeuvring.

Shadow the Hedgehog Spinner Orange red toy decorated with four pictures of Shadow. See how fast you can spin this circular toy to create an optical illusion of Shadow.

Burger King Releases New King Jr. Meal Paw Patrol Toys

Burger King Paw Patrol are on promotion right now in Kids Club Jr Meals in the US starting September 25, 2023. In association with Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon, Burger King is offering six exclusive Paw Patrol King Jr meal toys inspired by the new film: Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie which was shot in Canada and is to premiere in the United States on September 29, 2023.

Burger King Paw Patrol [2023]

The current Burger King toys are 6 cute Paw Patrol figures to collect. The names of the six toys included in the set are: Rocky, Marshall, Rubble, Chase, Skye and Liberty.

These are plastic toys come with no articulation but each has its own gimmick that showcases the unique attributes and abilities of the character they’re based on.

The line of collectable King Jr. toys are available now for around six weeks while stocks last. One BK Paw Patrol toy comes with each King Jr meal sold. They are being distributed in clear bags with instructions on the outside of the bag on how to use the toy. Unfortunately the names of each toy are not printed which makes it difficult for toy identification purposes but don't worry as the picture below shows each toy plus its name underneath.

Here's an overview of the gimmicks of each toy. The cpmplete set of Burger King Paw Patrol toys 2023 includes:

Marshall (Played by Christian Corrao. Firefighting dalmatian dog of 6 years. Abilities: Mighty Pup power is fireballs.
A light-up toy. Turn it on by sliding the switch on Marshall’s left leg to make his power crystal light up and flash. Wears an orange uniform and head gear.

Rubble (Played by Luxton Handspiker. Bulldog aged 6 years into construction. Special ability: Wrecking Ball.)
All yellow toy that comes with a yellow loop launcher. Has a pin underneath the toy that helps it spin. Clamp the launcher to the rear of the toy and ensure it is tightly gripped. Rubble spins around in circles when the handle of the launcher is squeezed to release.

Rocky (Played by Callum Shoniker. Mixed breed dog aged 6 years. Mighty Pup Power is magnetism which comes in useful with recycling.
Wearable toy that is gray and green. Belt clip that can be attached to a pocket or backpack. Press down on Rocky’s head to reveal the light up power crystal inside his badge.

Skye (Played by Mckenna Grace. Abilities flight and super strength. Dog breed is cockerpoo. Age: 7 years.)
Flying toy. Comes with two stickers to customize. Attach the yellow propeller to the purple base supplied, lock into place and wind up tightly in a clockwise direction. The propeller spins upwards approximately 5 feet in the air when the base is squeezed to release.

Liberty (Played by Marsai Martin. Special Ability: Elasticity. Long-haired daschund dog. Member of Paw Patrol in Adventure City)
Push and roll toy with three wheels underneath although it is mainly designed as a launcher. Attach the blue-green launcher to the rear of the Liberty figurine and push the button to make Libery fly forward. The brown Sausage dog is crouching on a white stand.

Chase (Played by Christian Convery. Dog breed is German Shepherd. Ability: Mighty Pup Power is super speed.)
Pull back toy with wheels underneath to help it glide across a flat surface. To activate pull the toy back and release to see Chase dart forward at speed. Dog in blue outfit lying on yellow board possibly a skateboard.

Review

The pick of the toys is probably the Rocky badge as you can wear it and quickly activate the light inside. However with light up toys in general the battery can quickly become depleted leaving the toy next to useless. As the Marshall toy is also battery operated to the same applies to it too.

While the concept for the Rubble toy is good it does not really spin well.

The Skye toy wizzes up into the air and kids would need to be careful playing with it as it could possibly take an eye out. There have been complaints by concerned parents or should I say "pawrents" in the past when other fast food toys similar to this have been issued leading to them being taken off the market.

The Liberty and Chase toys both have good springs that allow them to shoot forward with some power.

The toys are excellent for display purposes so are highly suited to a collector who wants to include them in their fast food toys collection.

McDonalds Pokemon 2023 - Match Battle TCG Happy Meal

McDonalds Pokemon 2023 have arrived in McDonald's happy meal toys right now throughout the USA. There are 10 different Pokemon packs to collect, each containing four Match Battle booster cards which are available in happy meals from 12 September, 2023.

McDonald's Happy Meal Toys Right Now

Pokemon cards are the happy meal toys right now at McDonalds. Back by popular demand following the success of the 2022 release, Match Battle Cards have returned to McDonalds.

This year the TCG cards come in packs in two different colors: scarlet and violet. Each pack features one of five Pokemon characters from the Violet and Scarlet Pokemon world.

The Pokmeon cards 2023 are also issued with a large sticker of a Pokemon character including everyone's favorite Pokemon, Pikachu. Other featured characters are: Quaxly, Fuecoco, Cetitan and Sprigatito.

The packs also contain a Pokemon coin used in the Match Battle game play. An instruction leaflet is included that outlines how to play the Match Battle game with the booster cards and coin.

The coin is double-sided. On one side is a Pokeball (low) and on the other side one of five Pokemon characters (high) are featured.

There are 15 booster cards altogether in this collectible card set. Six of the cards also come in a holographic version: Pikachu, Quaxly, Fuecoco, Cetitan and Sprigatito.

In 2023 Pokemon cards come in numbered cardboard packs that features a main character on the front of the pack. From an environmental perspective this is a good design as it ensures low wastage.

The happy meal box is virtually the same as the 2022 Pokemon box. It is yellow all over and features just Pikachu. Once again there are punchout ears on the side panel to attach to the front of the box.

The latest McDonalds happy meal toys, Nerf have just landed at McDonald's in the US replacing the Marvels promotion. For the rest of August and the first half of September 2023 you will find one of 8 Nerf games in your happy meal.

The latest McDonald toy promotion includes eight skill based games from Nerf. The McDonalds happy meal toys challenges include: Disk Blaster, Hoop, Bounce and Score, Loop and Launch, Sink the Disk, Flying Disk, Launch Ramp Challenge, Launch and Catch.

Like them or hate them the Nerf toys offer a bit of a change from happy meal toys we have come to expect from McDonald's in the last few years. Possibly in response to criticisms about McDonald's toys not doing anything it is nice to see toys being issued that can actually be played with.

Each toy in the Nerf set requires some minimal construction which involves putting together a few plastic components and folding cardboard targets.

Some toys in the set come with disks that are inserted into plastic handheld launchers and then shot at targets. Others involve tossing or shooting the ball supplied in the packet into cardboard goals.

Depending on the game played the winner is the one who gets to 100 points first or who wins after five games. An instruction card with game rules is included in the toy packet.

The wait is over as The Marvels, the latest McDonald's happy meal toy promotion has started. For July and August only, a miniature Marvel action figure comes with any happy meal purchased in the US.

There are 8 happy meal toys in the new set based on characters from the upcoming The Marvels movie due for release in theaters on November 10, 2023. The Marvels figurines in the set include: Captain Marvel, Nick Fury, Marvel's Goose, Princess Carol, Ms. Marvel, Prince Yan, Photon, Kree Supremor Dar-Benn.

The new McDonalds toys are plastic and are mounted on a gray base. The base has a hook on the side allowing each toy in the set to be connected up.

The Marvels McDonald's toys are action figures that come with a wheel on the back which activates some moving parts on the toy such as spinning tentacles in the case of Marvel's Goose.

Elemental McDonalds toys 2023 are the current McDonald toys. During June and July 2023 McDonald's Elemental toys will be included in your happy meal at participating McDonald's restauarants across the US. The eight toys which are based on the new film have come out just in time for the release of the Disney Pixar Elemental movie in theaters on June 22.

Do the McDonald's Elemental Toys Do Anything?

Each toy comes with a different colored launcher that is inserted into the back of the toy. Squeezing the launcher will make the toy shoot forward quickly either in the air or on land. There is a wheel on the underside of each toy that helps it glide across a flat surface.

In this limited promotion window you will receive one of six different Burger King Spiderverse toys with your King JR meal. The offer coincides with the Sony Pictures Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse movie to be released in theaters on June 1, 2023.

There are 6 toys to collect in this Burger King Spider Verse set based on Marvel Comics characters. These are paper-based rather than plastic BK toys which is kind of disappointing but fits with Burger King's new initiatives on sustainability.

Irrespective of whether these are recyclable toys or not, chances are you are going to want to have them in your Burger King toys collection especially if you are a die-hard Spider-Man fan or collect Marvel Heroes memorabilia as they are still pretty nice toys. The catch is, in this case, that you are going to need to order a lot of King Jr meals as my understanding is that you can't just buy the toys over the counter these days without purchasing a meal.

The Burger King Spiderverse toys are based on iconic buildings as seen in the Spider-man movie and feature other Spiderverse characters in various poses like hanging off buildings. The toys come in sheets with popouts to construct and sticker sheets to customize. There is also an instruction sheet included in every pack that provides numbered steps to put your Burger King Spider Verse building together..

For instance in Brazil these BK toys are known as Homem-Aranha Atraves do Aranhaverso and the promotion begins on May 17. While in Mexico and other Latin American countries the toys (juguetes) are called Spiderman A Través del Spider-Verso and Kids Jr Meal is named Comida Infantil. Other locations where these will be available include some parts of Europe and Indonesia.

If you miss the promotion of these Burger King Spiderverse toys or would prefer a healthier option than chomping down a whole bunch of burgers you can buy a full set of Across the Spider-Verse toys online on eBay but be quick as supplies may be limited.

To my knowledge Mickey and Friends McDonalds toys were pretty much restricted to the USA although there may have been some distribution of this set in the Caribbean around the same time.

McDonalds have done a number of collaborations with Disney recently to bring Disneyland characters to life for the next generation to enjoy. For instance we had Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway toys in May and June 2022 and in 2021 50 Disney themed happy meal toys for the Walt Disney World 50th anniversary were released.

In terms of timeline Mickey and Friends McDonalds toys follows on from the Super Mario Bros Movie toys promotion in December 2022 and January 2023.

Super Mario Bros McDonalds toys 2023 happy meal are the toy giveaway at McDonalds until the end of January. You can pick up one of eight different Super Mario Bros Movie toys in your happy meal as a result of yet another co-promotion between Nintendo and McDonalds.

The McDonalds Super Mario toys promotion in happy meals started just after Christmas on December 27, 2022. The movie will not be out in theaters for a couple of months and is expected to be released in April 2023.

There has been a lot of jubilation on social media because these McDonalds Mario toys are plastic rather than the paper versions promoted in the UK and Europe. Even better is that this set is excellent on display. Each toy has a different gimmick like spinning limbs which is pretty cool although perhaps previous promotions had better gimmicks overall. There are 10 plastic McDonald's Wakanda Forever toys to collect in this happy meal collection that starts on November 1, 2022. Each Marvel McDonald's Black Panther figure is nicely finished and stands on its own base. All the toys interlock with each other as well, making them good toys to have on display in your McDonald's Toys collection.

Similar to the McDonalds Thor toys promoted a few months ago the Wakanda happy meal toys have a wheel on the back that activates some kind of limited articulation.

A cool gimmick with these Black Panther Wakanda Forever happy meal toys is that some body part or weapon changes color from gray to vibranium violet when put in water. Warm water darkens while cool water lightens. .

The McDonalds Pokemon happy meal 2022 promotion runs for 5 weeks from August 16 to September 26, 2022 in the US. The cards are delivered in numbered boxes each featuring a different character: Pikachu, Victini, Smeargle, Rowlet, Gossifleur and Growlithe.

Along with the cards are the spinner, coin and instruction sheet. There are 10 themed boxes to collect (as pictured above) including:

Pokemon Happy Meal 2022 (UK and Ireland)

The Pokemon Happy Meal 2022 in the UK and Ireland follows on from the Paddington happy meal 2022. It will be followed by the Smurfs Happy Meal 2022.

There are 12 Pokemon card sleeves vs 10 packs in the US set to collect. The UK edition of the sleeves are unnumbered and denoted by color. Each contains the McDonald's Pokemon 2022 cards and toys:

Quite apart from the booster packs there are two exclusive happy meal books (happy meal readers) called Pokemon Essential Handbooks available as an alternative to the cards pack. The handbooks are published by Scholastic in association with McDonalds. Each covers unique Pokemon moves and information for those would-be Pokemon trainers.

The Pokemon happy meal 2022 will be available in only some countries around the world other than the US and Great Britain. Other selected regions are: Australia and NZ, Canada, Europe, Latin America.

The McDonald's Pokemon Cards 2022 are available at McDonalds while stocks last. Get in quick as these are highly likely to run out given their popularity. McDonalds UK, Ireland, Austria and Germany are ahead of the rest of world in releasing the Pokemon cards first but there are a number of countries around the world including Canada slated to get these very soon.

McDonalds Thor Toys 2022 are the current happy meal toys promotion at McDonalds in the USA, Mexico Latin America and South America. There are 10 Marvel Studios Thor Love and Thunder toys to collect, one of which will be in your happy meal right now. The release of Thor McDonalds toys coincides with the new Marvel Studios Thor Love and Thunder movie which began screening in theaters from July 8, 2022.

Does McDonalds Have Thor Happy Meal Toys?

McDonald's Thor happy meal toys promotion runs between July and August 2022. The 10 Thor promotional toys are available in North America (excluding Canada), the Carribean, Latin America and South America. Along with the Thor McDonalds toys there is a themed Marvel Studio Thor: Love and Thunder happy meal box to collect although this was not shown in the commercial (see below) so I am uncertain how widely available the box is. The apple slices and milk packaging also come with a Thor theme.

How Many Thor McDonald's Toys Are There?

There are 10 plastic Thor McDonald's toys in the 2022 happy meal toy promotion, each with a flat base shaped like a boat making it good for display purposes. what's even better is that the toys can be clicked together to form a chain. The line up of Thor toys from McDonalds is: Thor, Korg, Toothgrinder and Toothgnasher, Valkyrie, Golden Armor Thor, Groot, Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Mantis and the Mighty Thor.

The Thor figures are nicely styled and colorful but they have little articulation. There is a lack of imagination in the gimmicks too as most figures just wield a weapon in their right hand which moves up and down. The stand out toy from the collection is undoubtedly Korg as at least his weapon rotates 180 degrees.

The 10 McDonald's Thor toys 2022 all stand on a fixed brown base apart from Toothgrinder and Toothgnasher which has a yellow base. These Thor toys not only look similar to the McDonalds Marvel Studio's Eternals toys 2021, they also have the same ability to be joined together. Another cool aspect is that they can, like the Eternals, unlock more features like information about the characters when scanned into the McDonalds app.

Included in the Thor happy meal toys set are:

#1 Thor - Blonde hair and beard. Bright blue costume. Rotates from the waist.

#2 Groot - Brown figure with green hair. Right arm moves up and down on push of lever on the back of toy.

#3 Star-Lord - Grey head and arms. Brown uniform. Holds guns in both hands which move up and down in a firing action when activated by push of button on his back.

#4 The Mighty Thor (aka La poderosa Thor) - Female warrior with yellow hair and black uniform. Grey helmet, boots and arm protectors. Holds hammer in her right hand. Pull lever at back of her head to activate up and down hammer action.

#5 Golden Armor Thor (aka Thor con armadura dorada) - Yellow helmet, arms and gloves. Blue uniform with yellow belt and blue boots. Red cape. Holds an axe in right which moves up and down on press of rear lever.

#6 Rocket Raccoon - Brown raccoon wearing orange outfit. Carries hammer in his right hand which moves up and down when button on the back of his head is pushed.

#7 Korg - Grey head and arms. Brown pants. Holds a golden three-pronged spear which can rotate 180 degrees on press of button at the back.

#8 Valkyrie - She has long black hair. Wears a black uniform and a blue cape. Carries a blue metallic sword in her right hand. Up and down sword action when button on back of her head pushed.

#9 Mantis She has long green hair. Her outfit is green and her boots are dark green. Both arms move up and down when button on the back of her head is pushed.

#10 Toothgrinder and Toothgnasher - Translucent yellow base. Bobble-heads. Two-headed goats figure. One white and one brown.

At the time of writing this article the Thor McDonalds toys promotion is restricted to North and South America. Folks living in Canada may be disappointed to know that Canada due to licensing arrangements with Disney did not get these toys.

Paddington McDonalds Toys 2022 are available free in happy meals at McDonalds restaurants in the United Kingdom and Ireland from June 29 to August 2, 2022. The exclusive set of 10 Paddington toys is based on the Adventures of Paddington animated TV series shown on Nickelodeon. There are also currently two Paddington themed books that can be chosen instead of a toy during this limited time promotion.

The special limited edition McDonald's Happy Meal box pictures Paddington in his iconic red hat and blue duffle coat in a garden setting with gnomes.

There are two unique Paddington happy meal readers available during the promotion along with the toys. Patrons can choose either The Adventures of Paddington: Magic Trick or the Adventures of Paddington: The Monster Hunt book in their happy meal.

McDonalds Paddington Happy Meal Toys 2022

The McDonald's Paddington happy meal toys promotion includes 10 unique Paddington bears in different outfits other than his blue duffle coat depending on his occupation eg dancer, artist and wizard.

The Paddington figures are plush soft toy and stand around 110mms tall or just over 4 inches. The Paddington bears come in a character-themed box which measures approximately 115mm x 60mm x 40mm. (In an effort to reduce plastic waste UK happy meal toys now come in small cartons.)

The cardboard box has Paddington pictured on the front and on the reverse are various Paddington related icons: a Paddington stamp featuring Paddington eating a marmalade sandwich, a double-decker bus and a post box. The name of the toy can be found on the bottom of the carton and the tag of the actual toy.

To my knowledge promoting an exclusive range of Paddington toys is a first for McDonalds. There has been the odd promotion though like the inclusion of a Paddington in the 2001 McDonalds TV Favorites promotion.

The 10 Paddington happy meals toys in this McDonald's Paddington set of happy meal toys are:

Footballer Paddington - blue coat and red hat. Football / soccer ball in his hand

Astronaut Paddington - astronaut outfit instead of blue coat. Rocket picture on his back.

Construction Paddington - builder with a red cap. Wears a safety vest and builder's belt over blue coat.

Policeman Paddington - blue coat. Wears a black bobby's hat / policeman hat

Pilot Paddington - blue coat and is wearing a pilot's hat

Dancer Paddington - red hat with yellow ribbon. Pink tutu over blue coat

Wizard Paddington - purple wizard's hat (moons and stars on it), red bow tie and blue coat. Wand in pocket.

Chef Paddington - wears a white chef's hat and half apron over his blue coat

Artist Paddington - wears a black beret and short white overalls. Carries an artist's palette.

Doctor Paddington - wears a green coat. Stethoscope around his neck.

Paddington Coloring and Activity Sheet

On the McDonald's website it is possible to download an Adventures of Paddington coloring and activity sheet during the course of the promotion. Activities include a code breaker and dot-to-dot.

The McDonalds Paddington toys 2022 will be available until the beginning of August to those living within the UK and Ireland. Outside of Great Britain your best bet is to pick up a set of cool Paddington happy meal toys on eBay.

Lightyear McDonalds Toys 2022 are available in happy meals from around June 8, 2022 in McDonalds restaurants across USA. The set of 8 Lightyear toys are based on the Toy Story spin-off movie Lightyear featuring Buzz Lightyear and is in theaters from 17 June 2022. These happy meal toys are going to be super popular just like the original Toy Story toys so make sure you get yours today before stocks run out.

The McDonald's Lightyear happy meal toys promotion includes eight characters from the movie and their spaceships and vehicles along with a dedicated set of stickers to apply. The good news is that the toys are plastic and look great on display.

The special Lightyear happy meal box has a picture of Buzz Lightyear on the front and a happy meal smiley on the back. On one side of the box is a robot scrambler game and on the other side is a list of the toys in the promotion with the slogan "Blast off to beyond with your happy meal toy!" (See image below).

At this stage the Lightyear toys are also available in Brazil but the toys are numbered differently and in China but there are only 6 out of 8 toys in the promotion. As yet I am not sure of what other countries will get these so please check back for updates.
