Pol Maj Gen Choengron Rimphadee, commander of Immigration Division 2, said a car-rental company called Richcarsbangkok recently posted such advertisements in English on its website.
The English-language ad offered “Fast track arrival-departure 2,900 baht/flight” to entice foreign tourists to use its service without having to queue at immigration counters at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports.
Immigration Division 2 launched an investigation and concluded that the ads were false, said Pol Maj Gen Choengron.
While immigration counters do not provide fast-track services at any airports, he said, passport checking procedures have been improved and shortened to expedite the flow of tourist arrivals and departures in response to recent complaints.
During peak flight arrival and departure periods, he said, waiting times at immigration counters were no more than 15 minutes and it was not necessary for passengers to use fast-track services.
There is a special arrivals lane that gives priority to the disabled with caretakers, children and their parents, the elderly and holders of diplomatic and official passports, holders of Thailand Elite Card, Thai long-stay and Apec cards only, he said.
At the departure level, Airports of Thailand (AoT) has a fast-track lane at Suvarnabhumi airport for business card passengers, smart visa holders, the disabled, the elderly and crew members only, said Pol Maj Gen Choengron.

A new survey from International Living stated that Chiang Mai is one of 13 budget-friendly places where couples can retire abroad and live on as little as US$1,500/month. The report describes Chiang Mai as a lively and diverse city.
It is an area where Thais, Chinese, Indians, and foreigners live together smoothly. Chiang Mai’s charm lies in its rich history and culture. But there is still a way of life that is within reach. Housing costs are only $300 per month (approximately 10,000 baht), making it attractive to retirees looking for a comfortable and rewarding lifestyle, combined with the charm and beauty of an interesting culture.
The survey uses seven benchmarks:
Visas and benefits
Cost of living
Affinity rating
Health care
Development and governance
Climate
A study of 200 countries around the world found 13 destinations that couples enjoy after retirement and are able to live on just $1,500 per month.
In addition to examining those factors, International Living also considers the availability of high-speed internet. Networking opportunities and local people or English-speaking service providers in each country are an important factor, as well.
13 places where couples can retire abroad and live on as little as $1,500/month:
Penang, Malaysia
Chiang Mai, Thailand
Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Kuching, Malaysia
Hoi An, Vietnam
Querétaro, Mexico
Isla Mujeres, Mexico
Cozumel, Mexico
Armenia, Colombia
Arenal, Costa Rica
Alicante, Spain
Granada, Spain
Bergerac, France

Of course we will travel back to Thailand and Asia in the future if only to visit family and friends, but I was looking through a few possible destinations in Europe and also the US where I haven't visited for many years now, and came across this site : -
https://www.budgetyourtrip.com - taking what they say about Thailand (https://www.budgetyourtrip.com/thailand) and/or the US for those of you in the know, are the budgets and info. quoted realistic? I thought comments regarding some of the locations I've briefly looked at to be fairly close.

Unless there's an important football match (which I usually watch on the outside TV), I give Mrs BB total control of the remote until at least 7pm each day. I even look at the occasional news article that might take my interest.
Everything is fine, until the 10 minute long Flash Sales kick in. If you are not familiar, it is a Thai advert with up to 4 people all talking at the same time, trying make themselves heard over the other members of the team. It becomes 10 minutes of absolute mayhem. Unless you look at the pictures, you can't have a clue what is being sold. It is a 10 minute battle royale of words trying to sell a piece of tat, which retails at a stupid recommend price, and they are always selling several of the same thing, for just 1,000฿ plus 200฿ postage. Some of the tat is something you might use once in a lifetime, but they are selling you 5 of these things for an amazing bargain price. Things I can think of off hand include:
Magnifying Spectacles - buy 1 and get 4 free. Why? People only have one head.
Knives with a lifetime guarantee - buy 1 set and get 2 sets free. So you have to live 3 times.
Gas cookers - buy 1 get 2 free.
I think you get the picture.
It is an unwritten rule in our house now that as soon as these things come on the TV, the TV is muted. Probably the worst times are when Mrs BB is watching TV in bed and has fallen asleep. I can easily sleep through Thai TV, but as soon as these ads come on they wake me up. I'm then scrambling around for the remote, which somewhere on the other side of the bed.
A pet hate of mine - Thai Flash Sales. Do they work? I doubt it.
