It is great to see another G4 still getting some love! I definitely agree with the "fresh install" approach you mentioned for OS 10.5. Leopard can be a real resource hog on the PowerPC architecture, so starting with a clean slate is much better than trying to layer it over an old Tiger installation.
I actually still keep a few older machines around for similar reasons, though mainly as dedicated terminals for network diagnostics. It is becoming harder to find modern hardware that plays nice with legacy equipment. For example, I rely on older expansion slots for PCMCIA or early PCI-E to serial adapters https://serverorbit.com/network-devices/serial-adapters/pci-e when I need to configure vintage network switches or industrial hardware that won't talk to modern USB dongles. It’s funny how a "slow" machine becomes essential again when you need a stable, hardware-level connection that modern OSs have simplified away. I totally relate to the screwdriver struggle, too—there is nothing more frustrating than being ready to upgrade and realizing you don't have that specific precision bit!
Since you boosted it to the full 2GB, have you noticed if it handles local network transfers any better, or does that old 1GHz CPU still feel like the primary bottleneck for most tasks?

Thanks for your comment.

While I don't have an issue with pride in one's work, accomplishments and effort, it is important not to allow it to morph into arrogance.

Love this lesson, I like that you are promoting somewhat "A humble CONFIDENCE" as to be without too much pride to avoid what failed ACTIONS one has taken, and the PERSISTENCE that is needed to continue to improve for one's SUCCESS!
