Ducktales is remembered as one of the ultimate NES classics, a fantastic platforming game with tight controls, classic Nintendo difficulty, but fair at all times. This means, it was a game that tested your skill and not your luck, and provided endless hours of fun with Scrooge and the rest of the Ducktales’ cast. The game is coming out some time in summer 2013 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and will be developed by Wayforward (the guys behind Double Dragon: Neon). Eidos Montreal is currently developing the new Thief title for next gen consoles and PC, set for release in 2014. The game is referred as Thief 4 by fans, but apparently will be called just “Thief” upon release. The game will have Garett exploring a world that’s victim of a plague, and ruled by a tyrant referred as the Baron. The developers promise open world levels players will be able to explore and exploit to perform stunts and kills.

While everything about the project has been pretty much hush-hush, now thanks to these images which shall appear in the next issue of Game Informer, the game is more and more starting to feel like a reality, and we can’t wait to play it.

The news about this game are exciting not only for Thief fans, but for Xbox and gaming fans in general, as now studios are openly talking about the upcoming next-gen Xbox, successor of the Xbox 360. There’s only one thing, though: while these images look pretty and interesting, this doesn’t really look all that next-gen to us. Could there also be a Xbox 360 and PS3 version in the works that we haven’t heard of?

We have good and bad news, everyone. The good one, GTA5 has an official release date on the Xbox 360 and PS3. The bad one, it’s on September 17, 2013, way after the initial May/June prospect we originally had (almost 4 months!). Rockstar Games issued an apology for the delay and said that “[they] know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time. GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require. To all Grand Theft Auto fans, please accept our apologies for the delay, and our promise that the entire team here is working very hard to make the game all it can be. We are doing all we can to help ensure it will meet if not exceed your expectations come September – we thank you for your support and patience.”

Although they’re being honest and straight with their fans, this doesn’t seem to have calmed a very vocal minority who is now complaining in their comments section and in several Internet forums, webs and message boards. Some people claimed this delay had to do with the eventual announcement of an Xbox 720/PS4, but changing a game this late in the development cycle doesn’t seem that smart now, does it? Another camp claims that “Rockstar is just trolling” (say what?). What do you guys think? Let us know in the comments section.

Minecraft fans, rejoice. As detailed on the Minecraft forums, the upcoming title update 8 will bring offers several fixes and performance improvements (that should include preventing crashes!), as well as other features such as changing menu text and more. 4J mentioned on Twitter that the update should be out in february, “but we need to wait and see how it does in Cert Testing”. Good, don’t rush it, guys! We totally got your back.

Some of the most interesting new features and fixes include:

- Fix for random crash on Kick Player.
- Fix for a random crash on loading the tutorial.
- Performance improvement for the Enchantment interface.
- Fix to increase the spawn rate for Mooshrooms.
- Changed “Download Content” menu to “Minecraft Store”.
- Fix to remove the Love Mode tooltip when animals are unable to enter Love Mode.
- Change to moderator option description in the Host and Player Options.
- Fix for issue with sky lighting values making bedrock layer fully lit.

As Game Informer reports, a special edition of Halo 4 Xbox 360 products page appeared online, and a few hours later disappeared, which usually means that the product will hit steads sooner than thought, or perhaps that someone screwed up and leaked it by mistake.

The product page on Microsoft’s online store that later on mysteriously disappeared listed that the new console will have  a special start-up and shut-down sound effects, DLC goodies , two custom Halo 4 wireless controllers,320-GB hard drive, a black Xbox 360 headset and also stated that the console will retails for $399.99.

We are still not sure what to conclude from this leak, but either way, if the console is not be released sooner than expected, it’s official release date still stands at November 6, 2012.

Continue Reading on Walyou]]> Gamers take on a social stigma that can be less than attractive at times; fat, lazy, and unmotivated. With the innovation of the Kinect, though, Microsoft hoped to get gamers off the couch and more involved in their games, and it just got even more motivating.

Kinect PlayFit is the newest on the line for Microsoft, and a free add-on for all Xbox Live users. Introduced this week for US users (and later this week for outside of it), the add-on is a totally new dashboard that acts as an interface with many Kinect games. Presumably, any game that requires you to move your booty will begin to track your caloric output, giving you a neat and new way to track your usage, and also see how much work you’ve been doing!

For people like me who like to see their results from their workout, this is a great way to see immediate results. Anyone who has ever worked for a goal when exercising can tell you that immediate results hardly ever occur, and being able to easily track your progress and results is definitely a confidence booster. For an added bonus, you can even begin to track your progress across leader boards, new sets of achievements (and thus more Gamerscore), as well as avatar awards. All of this is sure to give players extra motivation if they’re competitive or like to sexify their avatars (I’m pretty partial toward the Ray-Bans and Portal 2 prop that my avatar sports).

The Kinect truly is a very entertaining piece of technology, and with it’s many versatile uses, there are surely endless amounts of applications, but will this really sell to customers and keep them interested in the long run? Workout and fitness devices have never had a huge share of the game market, and while managing some sales, it would not seem absurd to believe that these sales are based off of impulse purchases that have driven the entire “lose weight fast” industry for years now. Most of these games are probably not played for more than a few hours, or even more than twice, before being put at the bottom of the stack under games that entertain. Hopefully, the technology behind the Kinect can find an awesome niche or use that can be implemented into many games, for as it stands, it is an easy way to navigate your home screen, or play Fruit Ninja with.

Therein lies the breaking-point of these games and ideas; people sit on their couch, grab a controller, and put in their favorite game to entertain and relax, and the Kinect cannot provide enough of that. Sure, some people have turned their Xbox 30s and PS3s into Netflix or Hulu machines, but in the end, it is a game system that is intended to play games on. Yes, these exercise initiatives are great ways for people to burn calories, but can someone really stick to a game or two to lose weight over the course of a few months or a year? Probably not, because that would get incredibly boring without any new content. Sure, the games can add new music or whatever, but there still needs to be more. The process of losing weight is never going to be easy, nor is the process of keeping people entertained. Developers may be able to entertain children and tweens with games that are mindless and require little attention to detail, but adults are of more enlightened minds and will require more stimulation, more challenge, and more diversity.

According to our source, back in July, EA decided to do a little bit of housekeeping with Bioware, upgrading the company from a simple development studio to a full on “brand”. The Bioware label is now being given to a new studio, an offshoot from the one we know and love, made up from some crew from EA Los Angeles.

The new studio is called Victory games and that studio is being given a strategy game as it’s first project.

Check out the video below, you might be able to catch a few split seconds worth of a slightly futuristic looking strategy game.

The teaser promises a “new direction”, which I’m not quite sure that’s what anyone wants to hear with regarding Bioware, the company that’s basically the king of Western-style RPGS. However, pretty much everything they put their hands on to becomes gold, so more likely than not this new project will be something worth writing home for.

What do we actually know about the new game? Well, rumours flying all over the internet are speculating that it could be anything from a new Command & Conquer game. Since Westwood studios bit the bullet, the one great franchise has pretty much been left to rot. A new approach in the hands of some of the best developers around could really turn it that franchise back into a gem.

The title could also be Mercs Inc., a title that was being developed by EA Los Angeles but has recently fallen off the radar. Rumour has it that it was put on hold in order to transition over to DICE’s new Frostbite 2 engine, the one they use in Battlefield 3. If that’s the case, we can expect this to be one very good looking strategy game.

According to our source, a certain Xbox Live user went to his dashboard a few days ago to check on his Microsoft Points balance and to his surprise he discovered that he had significantly more than he expected.

The user apparently spent a grand total of $5 recharging his balance, and after making a purchase went to see his points total. Imagine his surprise when he noticed that instead of having a few hundred points he had a few billion.

Some weird error on Microsoft’s part gave the user 4, 294, 967, 136 points. Not a bad investment for $5, considering that to have that many points one would have to deposit over $53 million dollars.

The user’s first reaction, which seemed like the most obvious thing anyone would want to do with that kind of power, was to immediately start buying as many things over the Xbox Live Marketplace as fast as humanly possible. It would have been nice if Microsoft never realized their error.

He could have purchased every single available DLC and still had enough points left over to buy every future DLC ever released.

However, the way this story turned out, Microsoft did realize their goof, and quickly proceeded to take back all of the excess points, but not before the user was able to buy more than a few games, items and the like. Unfortunately for him, Microsoft deducted the same amount of points as he received, which means that his account is now in the negatives, the very deep negatives.

What would you do if you suddenly discovered a ton of extra points in your account? I mean, I’m happy when I discover an extra 20 Microsoft Points here and there from participating in the Xbox Live Rewards program.
