WASHINGTON (AP) — The House impeachment report on President Donald Trump will be unveiled Monday behind closed doors for key lawmakers as Democrats push ahead with the inquiry despite the White House’s declaration it will not participate in the first Judiciary Committee hearing.

The Democratic majority on the House Intelligence Committee says the report, compiled after weeks of testimony, will speak for itself in laying out what Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., called the evidence of “wrongdoing and misconduct” by the Republican president over his actions toward Ukraine. It was being made available for committee members to review ahead of a vote Tuesday to send it to the Judiciary Committee for Wednesday’s landmark hearing.

Late Sunday, White House counsel Pat Cipollone denounced the “baseless and highly partisan inquiry.” In a letter to Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., he also declined the invitation for the president’s counsel to appear before his panel Wednesday.

Cipollone, in continuing the West Wing’s attack on the House process, said the proceeding “violates all past historical precedent, basic due process rights, and fundamental fairness.” Trump himself was scheduled to attend a summit with NATO allies outside London on Wednesday.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Monday it’s “very unfortunate” the Judiciary Committee is holding its hearing at the same time that Trump is representing the U.S. at the NATO summit.

“I regret that they’ve chosen to hold these hearings at the same time that the president and our entire national security team will be traveling to Europe, to London, to work on these important matters,” Pompeo said.

As the impeachment inquiry intensifies, Wednesday’s hearing will be a milestone. It is expected to convene legal experts whose testimony, alongside the report from the Intelligence Committee, could lay the groundwork for possible articles of impeachment, which the panel is expected to soon draw up.

Democrats are focused on whether Trump abused his office by withholding military aid approved by Congress and a White House meeting as he pressed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to launch investigations into Trump’s political rivals. The report also is expected to include evidence of possible obstruction of Congress by Trump’s instructions that officials in his administration defy subpoenas for documents or testimony.

Trump maintains he did nothing wrong, and as the House presses forward on an ambitious schedule toward an impeachment vote, the president and his Republican allies are aligned against the process.

Cipollone’s letter applied only to the Wednesday hearing, and he demanded more information from Democrats on how they intended to conduct further hearings before Trump would decide whether to participate in them. House rules provide the president and his attorneys the right to cross-examine witnesses and review evidence before the committee, but little ability to bring forward witnesses of their own.

Republicans, meanwhile, wanted Schiff, the chairman who led the inquiry report, to testify before the Judiciary Committee, though they have no power to compel him to do so, as they joined the White House effort to try to cast the Democratic-led inquiry as skewed against the Republican president.

“It’s easy to hide behind a report,” said Rep. Doug Collins of Georgia, the top Republican on the Judiciary Committee. “But it’s going to be another thing to actually get up and have to answer questions.”

Schiff has said “there’s nothing for me to testify about,” that he isn’t a “fact” witness and that Republicans are only trying to “mollify the president, and that’s not a good reason to try to call a member of Congress as a witness.”

Democrats were aiming for a final House vote by Christmas, which would set the stage for a likely Senate trial in January.

“I do believe that all evidence certainly will be included in that report so the Judiciary Committee can make the necessary decisions that they need to,” said Rep. Val Demings, D-Fla., a member of both the Intelligence and Judiciary committees.

Trump has previously suggested that he might be willing to offer written testimony under certain conditions, though aides suggested they did not anticipate Democrats would ever agree to them.

Democrats had pressed Trump to decide by Friday whether he would take advantage of due process protections afforded to him under House rules adopted in October for follow-up hearings, including the right to request witness testimony and to cross-examine the witnesses called by the House.

“If you are serious about conducting a fair process going forward, and in order to protect the rights and privileges of the President, we may consider participating in future Judiciary Committee proceedings if you afford the Administration the ability to do so meaningfully,” Cipollone said in the Sunday letter.

Collins called the hearing Wednesday “a complete American waste of time of here.” He wanted the witness list expanded to include those suggested by Republicans. “This is why this is a problematic exercise and simply a made-for-TV event coming on Wednesday.”

Still, Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Calif., a Judiciary Committee member, said he believes Trump would benefit if he presents his own defense. McClintock said he doesn’t believe Trump did anything wrong in the July 25 call with Zelenskiy that is at the heart of the investigation.

“He didn’t use the delicate language of diplomacy in that conversation, that’s true. He also doesn’t use the smarmy talk of politicians,” McClintock said.

To McClintock, Trump was using “the blunt talk of a Manhattan businessman” and “was entirely within his constitutional authority” in his dealings with Ukraine’s leader.

Collins appeared on “Fox News Sunday” and Demings and McClintock were on ABC’s “This Week.”

GRANDVILLE, Mich. -- We see the ads pop up all over social media for DIY orthodontics kits that promise to straighten your teeth and give you the perfect smile all while doing it at home.

While this sounds simple, it could potentially put you in the position to lose teeth or make worse an existing problem you aren’t aware of.

Local dentist Dr. Jared Van Ittersum of Infinity Dental Partners tells us there are actually two class-action lawsuits against some of these big-name companies claiming they’re causing some patients permanent damage.

“When you come in and you have an orthodontist or general dentist do orthodontics, move teeth for you with clear liner therapy, the first thing we do is take x-rays, a gum screening exam, we do an exam of your teeth," says Dr. Van Ittersum, "and what we’re looking for is impacted teeth and tooth decay. What we’re finding when you do the DIY orthodontics is that’s not being done. You’re generally just saying, yep, I’ve got a clean bill of health, yep, I went to the dentist. The problem is people aren’t doing that stage first, so they don’t even know what the foundation is."

However, if you have just minor teeth movements and you still want to try a DIY kit, Dr. Van Ittersum is still willing to help with a free exam, x-ray and screening, so you know that it's safe to try it.

For more information on the class-actions lawsuits and free screenings at Dr. Van Ittersum's three locations CLICK HERE.

(CNN) — Montana Gov. Steve Bullock ended his presidential campaign on Monday, the Democrat announced in a statement to CNN.

The decision comes after the moderate Democrat failed to convince the party’s base that the best way to defeat President Donald Trump was by nominating someone who can win in a red state.

“Today, I am suspending my campaign to become the Democratic Party’s nominee for President,” Bullock said. “While there were many obstacles we could not have anticipated when entering this race, it has become clear that in this moment, I won’t be able to break through to the top tier of this still-crowded field of candidates.”

Bullock, who is term-limited as governor, will not take on Republican Sen. Steve Daines in 2020, his spokeswoman said.

“Governor Bullock will continue to faithfully and effectively serve the people of Montana as their Governor,” said Bullock spokeswoman Galia Slayen. “While he plans to work hard to elect Democrats in the state and across the country in 2020, it will be in his capacity as a Governor and a senior voice in the Democratic Party — not as a candidate for US Senate.”

Bullock had said he has no interest in the Senate job, despite being pressured to run, and outright ruled it out in interviews this year. But Bullock would not have been the first presidential hopeful to go from disdain toward the Senate to a possible bid: Former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper is now running for Senate in his home state, something he largely dismissed during his presidential bid.

Bullock entered the 2020 contest in May, far later than many of his Democratic opponents, a fact that complicated his early efforts to make the debate stage.

After missing the June debate, Bullock qualified for the July contest, using the platform to tout himself as a “pro-choice, pro-union, populist Democrat that won three elections in a red state, not by compromising our values but by getting stuff done.”

But the performance failed to garner much momentum for Bullock, who struggled for months to raise enough money to successfully run for president or garner enough support to get him into other debates.

Bullock was able to raise $4.3 million to fund his campaign throughout 2019. But the governor ended up spending much of that and entered the fourth quarter of 2019 with $1.3 million cash on hand, a number that paled in comparison to larger, better funded campaigns.

Bullock centered his campaign on his ability to court red state voters despite a progressive streak. His often talked about the need to get big money out of politics and told CNN before he announced his campaign that he hoped to convince voters in “places like a Montana or the Midwest” that “the Democratic party is fighting for their interests.”

“If we don’t win back some of the places we lost in 2016, it is going to be a tough sled, don’t kid yourself, to think we are going to win in 2020,” Bullock said. “I have a proven ability to do that.”

Bullock said on Monday that he “entered this race as a voice to win back the places we lost, bridge divides and rid our system of the corrupting influence of Dark Money” and that even though he is ending his campaign, he leaves “this race filled with gratitude and optimism, inspired and energized by the good people I’ve had the privilege of meeting over the course of the campaign.”

Bullock had previously pledged to make it to the Iowa caucuses in February before dropping out, believing that Iowa could provide his campaign an upset moment and a way to go around the debate stage.

“There was polling that said, only one third of the folks even surveyed watched the debates,” he said. “It’s not like there’s anything coming out of these debates that are really changing people’s views.”

But that has proven not to be true, as candidates who have missed the debate stage have struggled to both gain attention and fundraise after missing a debate.
