Urban survival

The second photo shoot with The Pain Machinery, this time for their upcoming album “Urban Survival”. The last shoot featured heavy urban decay, this time we wanted more urban and less decay. So these photos were taken in central Stockholm.

This was also my first shoot were I processed the photos with Lightroom 3. A pretty good upgrade from v2. I am in love with the grain functionality. I also used split toning in order to add warmth but still obtain some industrial coldness. Pretty spiffy, if you ask me.

Dark, dirty & desaturated

This is the first promo shoot for a powernoise band I did, the band’s called Kopfer Kat and their music is really loud, noisy and distorted. I love it! So I wanted the photos to be dark, dirty and desaturated. I think I kind of hit the spot here. What do you think?

Engelberg, Switzerland

My employer - aptly named Snow Software - arranged a conference trip to Engelberg in Switzerland. This, of course, proved to be an excellent opportunity to snap some pictures! So we went to the top of Engelberg, some 10 000 ft up in the air. The view was… Well, judge for yourself.

These photos were taken aboard M/S Galaxy on the Baltic Sea. It was cold as hell.

Kite live @ Klubb Mirage, Gothenburg

Since the frontman of Kite was busy playing with his other band, he performed “live” through a video projection. Quite cool and it worked well. Kite recently released their second EP, aptly named “II”, which is very much worth your time and hard earned dollars.

Bangkok Dirt

The Pain Machinery promo shoot

I was asked to take some promo photos of The Pain Machinery since they’ll soon be releasing a EP, it’s called “Total Recall” and will be out in stores November 2nd. Their music is pretty harsh, being a mix between punk, industrial and electronic music. Check it out!

The photos came out pretty good, I’m getting sort of a British skins/gangster vibe and it fits the music quite well I think.

Entering the Ice Age

I was asked to take some promotional pictures of the swedish electronic band Dupont since their new album - Entering the Ice Age - is coming out soon (August 19:th). I had just picked up a LensBaby Composer and saw great opportunities to take some experimental pics. In the end i opted mostly for my old trusted 50mm/F1.4 and the results was, IMHO, pure magic! Dupont were very easy to work with, you could tell they had the poses in them.

Dupont live @ Klubb Mirage, Gothenburg

Progress Productions celebrated their fifth year as a record label with a big show case of their bands at Klubb Mirage. This was also the evening when they announced their new signing; Dupont! They have a new album in the works, “Entering the Ice Age”, due to be released this fall.

Dupont has really grown as a band over the years, both musically and live. I remember the first time I saw them, at Kägelbanan (Södra Teatern in Stockholm) several years ago and it was kind of meh. Since then they’ve changed singer and the old school EBM they played then has evolved into sweet electronic pop/EBM on par with Covenant.

Progress Productions celebrated their fifth year as a record label with a big show case of their bands at Klubb Mirage. Mr Jones Machine kicked off the evening with a nice “unplugged” performance.

I decided to desaturate these pictures and enhance the blacks almost to a ridiculous degree, in order to make them look vintage, to match the bands musical set up.

Atleast the pictures have two things going for them, Cryo and lasers. Lots of lasers. Green lasers. I like. A lot.

Leæther Strip live @ Club Target, Gothenburg

Leæther Strip pulled off a whopping 123 minute long concert at Club Target in Gothenburg and oh my. It. Was. Awesome. The audience was totally bonkers, I was standing just in front of the stage and managed to score some big bruises. Yep, concerts should yield at least some bruises! :)

Gottberg promotional shoot

My dear friend Torny Gottberg (of Project-X and Progress Productions fame) is about to launch his musical solo project, aptly named Gottberg. So he asked me to take a few promotional pictures. And so I did.

I am pretty satisfied with the result, the D700, 50/1.4 AF-S and SB-800 helped me a lot. I really love my equipment. Upgrading from a D70 to a D700 has been one of the highlights so far this year.

The Klinik live @ Tinitus 2009, Münchenbryggeriet

Dirk Ivens headlined this years Tinitus Festival with The Klinik and let me put it this way, these old veterans sure know how to a) make the harshest and coldest industrial and b) make the audience feel exactly every beat and every intended emotion.

Music like this just ain’t being done no more. It makes me sad.

Regarding the photos, due to darkness and mainly black lights I had to be a teeny weeny bit more experimental during processing than usual. :)

Spectra Paris live @ Tinitus 2009, Münchenbryggeriet

Elena Alice Fossi, of Kirlian Camera fame, fronts new band Spectra Paris with a little (probably a whole lot more) help from members of Punto Omega and Dope Stars Inc.

They played songs from their debut album, “Dead Models Society”.

This happy norwegian fellow is 50% NorthBorne, the other half wasn’t able to join him, unfortunately. Every time I’ve seen them they’ve done kick ass sets. Highly energetic and they seem to have genuinely FUN on stage, which is quite infectious.
