…ends at an astonishing $1,175.00!!!

The story behind this card is that it was never inserted into packs because Ric Flair had some kind of dispute with WCW and he never returned the Topps cards that were sent to him to be signed. For the past decade or so, probably 99.9% of all wrestling collectors/dealers never new this existed. The eBay seller claims that this card originally belonged to wrestling manager, Jimmy “The Mouth of the South” Hart.

Flair, the 16 time WCW champion, has a tremendous following and for this card to pop up is, well…..HUGE.  It preceeds the Ric Flair 09 Donruss Americana autographed version by 11 years.

The Michael Jordan 98 Skybox Premium Rubies /50 BGS 8.5 that was on ebay ended on the 6th at an astonishing price of nearly $3,000! Or… $793 more than I had predicted.

Incredible. Gotta love those 90s inserts.

The year is 1993, late April perhaps.

After winning Rookie of the Year, making the Playoffs and giving us Warriors fans a glimmer of hope that we had team that had potential of being championship caliber for the next decade or so…

The 1994 season could have been ours. I think we could have had firepower to take the West from Hakeem and the dudes in Houston. Imagine running 48 minutes with a healthy Tim Hardaway, sharp-shooting Dream Teamer Chris Mullin on the wing and a young, slashing, defensive-minded Latrell Sprewell. Billy Owens and the early version of Manu Ginobili – Sarunus Maricilonus too. Chris Gatling energizing the second unit. Oh man, this sucks just typing it.

Oh how I dread seeing pictures of Tom Gugliotta in the blue and yellow, for no other reason than he WASN’T Chris Webber.

12 Deep. That’s how strong the 1996 NBA Draft was. It spawned an entire NBA roster filled with rookies who would go on to capture accolades that they are STILL accumulating more than 13 years later. From #1 overall pick Allen Iverson to 2nd round pick Peja Stojakovic and the undrafted Ben Wallace, they have amassed nearly every award the league doles out.

NBA Championships. MVPs. Scoring Titles. All-NBA Teams. All-NBA Defensive Teams. Rebound Leaders. Defensive Players of the Year. All Star MVPs. Three Point Championships. Dunk Contest Winner. Blocking Leaders. Steals Titles. Assist Titles. You name it – one of them has done it.

When SLAM magazine decided to put these guys on the cover of their 96 NBA Season Preview issue, they nearly forecasted 12 Deep.   They somehow couldn’t get Iverson to join the photoshoot and (understandably) invited Lottery picks Kerry Kittles, Samaki Walker and Walter McCarty.  Ben Wallace was still an unheralded rook who was trying out for anyone who would take a 6′ 9″ dude on their summer league team and Peja Stojakovic was playing in Europe still 2 years away from stepping foot onto Arco Arena in Sacramento.

I often take a look back at this photo, imagining “what if?” SLAM had gotten Iverson, Fisher, Peja and Big Ben for this shot.  That would have been incredible!!!

There is a super RARE Michael Jordan 98 Skybox Premium RUBIES numbered to 50 is on ebay. It is currently at $1,300+ with four days left but I’m sure it will end in the in the $2,000+ range. Keep an eye on it!

I really enjoy these 08 Ultimate Collection Ultimate Memories /10 cards. This Vince Carter inscription is LOOOOOOOONG overdue. I wish that a better photo was chosen, though. I’m not really feeling the image UD used.
