I am leaving for New York this evening to see Clay “WIN” Celebrity Apprentice.

I plan on attending the meet & greet at the NBC Experience Store on Friday morning….Then, Sunday for the finale!!

I certainly hope that I will see Clay at the Today show Monday morning as the winner is supposed to be on with Donald Trump.

I will take as many pictures as allowed and get them posted as quickly as I can.  I hope you will continue to check this site as I will report first hand what I see and hear.

Clay Aiken – Off To New York

REVISED POST!!

It was announced on Wednesday, May 16^th, that the Gospel for Teens choir from Harlem would be performing live on the season finale of The Celebrity Apprentice.  The hit NBC show airs on Sunday, May 20^th at 9pm.

This is the fifth appearance on national television in the past year.  It sounds like they will be a great addition to the show.  I wonder if Clay and Arsenio will perform with them.

The following is a tentative schedule of some of the pre-finale events.  I feel sure there are others and I will post them when I get them.

Friday, May 18^th – NBC is hosting a Meet & Greet with Clay and Arsenio.  It will be held at the NBC Store at Rockefeller Center.  12:00pm to 1:00pm

Friday, May 18th – Clay and Arsenio are scheduled to be on the Wendy Williams Show – Be sure to check your local TV listings for times and channel.

Sunday, May 20 – Clay and Arsenio will be on The Today Show, NBC, 8-9 a.m. Eastern Time

Clay was on the Today Show this morning –  If you missed it you can see it at   MSNBC

Be sure and check for Access Hollywood and Entertainment Tonight.  The date and time have not been confirmed.

There should also be a Podcast interview in the next couple of days.  Dalton Ross at EW.com announced that the interview was taped on Wednesday.  Check back for the time.

Clay Aiken – Counting Down The Days

Dear Clay,

I want to take a moment to tell you how proud I am of all you have accomplished in the last eight months on Celebrity Apprentice.  You attacked each task with enthusiasm, hard work, humor and patience.  Even in the most stressful times, you led the other team members by being respectful and allowing each contestant a time to shine.

And now, here you are…gearing up for an important moment in your life.  In these last few days before the finale, I would imagine that you are very busy with meetings, interviews, rehearsals, and many other tasks we can’t even imagine.

But…please…savor each moment.  Enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime celebration.  Don’t let the stress of the moment get in the way of reveling in your accomplishments.

And remember…you have thousands of people who are already celebrating your achievements on Celebrity Apprentice.  You make us proud whatever the outcome!

Now, lets have a party on Sunday night.  It’s time for your confetti moment!

Clay Aiken – Savor Each Moment!

Late Monday, three new reviews of Celebrity Apprentice were published.  They are all well-written and worth a visit.

Each week, TVBlend writes a fun review of the show.  They are known for their Power Rankings of the Celebrities.  When the season first started, Clay was rated at the bottom of the list.  However,  each week, he moved up and for the last few weeks he has been #1.    This week??

#1) Clay Aiken (31): I was a little worried about Clay’s ability to bring in donations at the beginning of the task, but he seemed to come through, just in time to start micromanaging his players. The normally adept and calm leader really wants things to be perfect for his final challenge, and he seems to be putting a lot of energy and effort in. We’ll see how the final task pans out, but if there is one thing Clay really has going for him, it’s the drive to succeed, to persevere, to win at all costs. Second place does not seem to be an option.

Lily Sparks from TV.com,  wrote a review about the latest episode of Celebrity Apprentice.  Titled, Skits and Giggles, the article is filled with some fun pictures.  Ms Sparks is certainly not a fan of Aubrey O’Day and is not afraid to let everyone know.  She wrote the following about Clay:

Debbie Gibson, wearing a confounding brooch, had promised her cousin nationwide mural-painting exposure (MURAL PAINTING! What a career. When was the last time you considered getting a mural done?) and no doubt a hefty check for coming in and painting Clay’s space. Clay, very reasonably, wanted to see a sketch before committing so much of the ambiance to a stranger…

… Which turned Debbie into a sobbing wreck and brought out words like “trust” and “move heaven and earth” that just DON’T belong in business.

…Clay was also beset with a shit-smelling park and Penn being just as frank as always about how terrible everyone else’s ideas were. Poor Clay. I am genuinely pulling for him, he’s been nothing but quick and smart and generous.

… For Aiken, who came in second to Ruben Studdard on American Idol back in 2003, there’s a sense of unfinished business. “This time I ain’t gonna lose,” he says. “I will sleep when it’s all over. Until then, game on!”

… The teams break off and hit the ground running. Team Clay, stocked with music-minded members, is going to put on a music-centric event. Aiken’s charity is the National Inclusion Project, a foundation he helped create that aims to help include disabled children with their non-handicapped peers. The team’s motto for their carnival-themed event is “Let’s ALL Play.” O’Day, having been picked last and snubbed by Hall, is out for revenge. “I really think Arsenio is dirt,” she says with a vindictive glimmer in her eye. “I hope Clay wins.”

… With so many contestants now back in the fold, it’d be safe to assume there would be boatloads of crazy drama. Ironically though, there’s almost none. Each former contestant, from O’Day and Giudice planning the respective events to Gibson arranging the music, appears happy to help out. Tempers do flare, however, when Aiken and Gibson go at it regarding a mural for the event that is to be painted by Gibson’s cousin. Aiken says he doesn’t want this to happen unless he can see a sketch of what it will look like. And Gibson? Well, she thinks Aiken is being a micromanaging nutjob. Tears nearly flow.

OMG from Yahoo – Celebrity Apprentice Shocker- Aubrey O’Day Is Fired

… Donald Trump took a stand for professional behavior this week on “The Celebrity Apprentice,” and shocked a lot of viewers who expected Aubrey O’Day to advance to the finale. The Donald fired her.

… Aubrey, like Narcissus, was too busy admiring her own reflection in the pool of creative ideas she contributed to recognize that others shared in the successes of each project. Aubrey was all about Aubrey. Matlin and Rich found her motivations “transparent,” and her behavior immature.

… Surprisingly, Clay seems to be having a harder time managing his team. Trying to rein in Aubrey’s copious ideas for decorating the venue got him into a lather, which carried over to his interactions with Debbie. Aubrey wanted to paint the walls, which Clay thought was overkill. Debbie tried to help by offering to get her cousin, a professional mural painter, to do the job for them.

What an amazing day for Clay Aiken.  He started Sunday by appearing on CBS’ Face the Nation on a panel about gay marriage.  Aiken seemed at ease throughout his section of the program and spoke with knowledge and passion about the topic.  He certainly held his own as he talked with the seasoned members of the panel.

Almost 12 hours later, it was announced that Clay was a finalist on the show, Celebrity Apprentice.  Up against Arsenio Hall, Clay was busy planning a huge fund-raiser for his charity, The National Inclusion Project.

… Well… I guess one way to look at it all is… I now can’t do any worse on this show than I did on my last one.

… I also knew I would like to have Penn. I respect Penn’s mind. He’s brilliant and creative, and I wanted Mr. Trump (AND PENN) to know that I harbored no ill will against him.

… Debbie Gibson is a musical prodigy. She may sing her stuff a LOT!! But when it comes to writing music, arranging and playing, she is like few people I have ever met. Building a medley of songs and getting them arranged in a great way was so important. Debbie was my first musical pick.

EW.COM – That Magic Moment

… Once Aubrey was dismissed, Clay Aiken began experiencing American Idol déjà vu. Would he once again lose out on an elusive reality show title? You know, Clay and Ruben Studdard had such a nice friendship. They were complete opposites — one big and black, the other lanky and white — but they shared one thing in common, an incredible ability to reach out and touch audiences through the power of song. I think when you look back at their relationship on American Idol, however, what really stands out the most is the fact that Ruben never once threatened “getting in your ass.”

… Cut to Aubrey looking mortified at being unpicked and taking the walk of shame over to Clay’s team. “Haters are hating once again,” she informed us. They certainly are.

… Outside of Magic Johnson talking to nobody, Arsenio has had a pretty smooth ride so far. No so for Clay, who spent half of the task wandering the streets of New York while getting yelled at by little league baseball coaches and making little kids break the law by hopping a fence to shoot his ad in a restricted area. And then things got even worse when he met up with the rest of the team. Little did Clay realize he would be butting heads constantly with Crystal Light songstress Debbie Gibson.

… Then came Round 3, in which Clay and Debbie argued about the mural that Debbie’s cousin was going to paint. Clay was insistent that nothing go on the wall until he could approve a sketch of it. As Project Manager, that’s smart. I mean, no offense, but are you going to trust a $250,000 prize to Debbie Gibson’s cousin? What if she puts up a big mural of the Electric Youth album cover? You can’t risk it. “Paint will not go on the wall unless I’ve seen some sketches,” said Clay. Before all was said and done, Debbie was calling Clay “insecure” and Clay was correcting how Debbie spoke on the phone to her own cousin. Which is exactly the type of cliffhanger drama you want heading into a finale. Well, that and a very confused man standing sideways.

… Aubrey gets chosen last, but she has tentative support for her manager. “Clay’s always bugged me as a person,” she said, “but now I kind of like him.”

… The collection of players on Clay’s team are almost all musicians, except for Penn, who Clay chose specifically to show that he could work with someone he doesn’t agree with. He’s also got Aubrey under his wing. She’s enthusiastic, but hard to reign in.

… Clay also smartly delegates a specific task to everyone off the bat. Debbie does music, Aubrey’s in charge of decoration, and Penn and Dee work on the PSA.

…  The major drama on their team is between Debbie and Clay, after Debbie gets her cousin to take off work and paint a mural. Clay won’t have her start until he sees a mock-up of her idea, which frustrates Debbie to no end.

… In the opening boardroom, Clay tells Trump he belongs in the finale because he’s a hard worker and he’s been considered a strong player throughout — plus he’s been on the winning team seven times.

… Create, host and sell tickets to a celebrity variety show, plus create a 30-second commercial for their charities. The winner gets the grand prize, $250,000 for his charity — Clay’s is the National Inclusion Project, which trains schools and summer camps to extend curriculum and programs to children with disabilities…

… When Don Trump comes to visit, he’s impressed by the work they’re doing on the show but worries that they’re not really working on fundraising. Clay finally gets moving on the fundraising, but their team doesn’t seem to be racking up a lot of donations.

… Debbie and Clay keep clashing, first over the music, then over Debbie’s cousin’s mural. Clay insists on seeing some sketches, but Debbie is annoyed because her cousin rearranged her schedule to work on the project and hasn’t been able to come up with a final sketch yet. “While I absolutely appreciate that, I sorta don’t care,” Clay tells us. Debbie thinks he’s treating her like a child. “If that’s the way the tides are turning right now,” Debbie tells us, “I don’t belong here.” Oh, the drama!

… Lisa calls Clay and offers to give him a check because he helped her out so much on her big win for the Gay Men’s Health Crisis. Classy move.

Buddy TV – A Race To The Finish

… it’s Arsenio and Clay battling it out in the finals. May the best man win!

… Penn, meanwhile, gets under Clay’s skin from the start. Although this time, I side with Penn when he says the concept for the PSA seems offensive. Penn’s problem is that when he criticizes or shoots down an idea, he doesn’t offer any sort of solution. With Clay, you need to do that.

… Clay, meanwhile, stresses out with a lot of responsibility, though he tries really hard not to show it. Penn points out Clay’s teeth grinding as a way to know when he’s stressed.

… Clay is competing for the National Inclusion Project, a charity that he started. But with the task taking up a lot of their time, they start making calls way later. The only big name that comes up is … Lisa Lampanelli!  While she’s helping Arsenio, she said she’s bringing a check for Clay as they had a good relationship on the show, and he helped her many times. I thought that was incredibly sweet and can’t recall that ever happening before.

… On Clay’s team, Debbie’s about to erupt and it’s put a really sour mood on the whole atmosphere. I understand Clay wanting to make sure that whatever happens in the event, he wants to see it beforehand. And he told Debbie this too, but she conveniently forgets. So she takes offense to Clay wanting to see everything and says he doesn’t trust her. To Clay’s credit, I wouldn’t trust Debbie either.

Singer and gay rights activist Clay Aiken disagreed with Perkins, pointing to the recent Gallup polling showing that 60 percent of Americans said Mr. Obama’s support for same-sex marriage won’t impact whether or not they support him.

“I think the people who say it will matter on either side of the equation, probably were not going to vote for Obama or were going to vote for President Obama anyway,” he said. He added that gay men and women are going to be more energized to support the president now.

While voters in Aiken’s home state of North Carolina recently passed a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage and domestic partnerships, Aiken said voters in that key state “will support the fact that President Obama did speak out on principle… I think that we’d like to see politicians speak out on principle a little bit more and not just make a political calculation.”

Clay Aiken – Emerging Spokesman for Gay Marriage

Rose Kennedy once said, “I looked on child-rearing not only as a work of love and duty, but as a profession that was fully as interesting and challenging as any honorable profession in the world, and one that demanded the best that I could bring it.”

Mother’s Day in the United States is annually held on the second Sunday of May. It celebrates motherhood and it is a time to appreciate mothers and mother figures. Many people give gifts, cards, flowers, candy, a meal in a restaurant or other treats to their mother and mother figures, including grandmothers, great-grandmothers, stepmothers, and foster mothers.

• The first official celebration of mothers in the United States took place in 1858.
• From Australia to Zimbabwe, more than sixty countries celebrate Mother’s Day together with Americans on the second Sunday in May.
• More than 83 million mothers are living in the United States, according to the US Census Bureau.
• Nearly 96% of all Americans participate in Mother’s Day celebrations in some way. Mother’s Day is the peak day for long distance carriers.
• Mother’s Day is the second biggest gift-giving holiday in America, preceded only by Christmas. The National Retail Foundation estimates that Americans will spend more than $14 billion a year on Mother’s Day.
• Mr. Roger’s mom knit him many of the sweaters he wore on the set of his popular children’s television show.

Even though Clay Aiken will be very busy today, I would imagine that there are two very special Moms that will hear from him today.

Clay Aiken – Call Your Mom!

Face the Nation is one of the longest-running news programs in the history of television. It premiered on CBS in November of 1954.

The show airs Sunday mornings and is hosted by Bob Schieffer.  Bob is the CBS News Chief Washington Correspondent.

Face The Nation is broadcast from Washington D.C. and covers the latest news issues.  Guests on the show include government leaders, politicians, and international figures in the news. CBS News correspondents engage the guests in a lively roundtable discussion focusing on current topics.

On the up-coming show, Clay will be a part of a panel who will be looking at all the sides of the same-sex marriage debate. All the panel members have interesting and impressive bios.  The following is a few facts about of the participants.

Deval Laurdine Patrick

• He is the current Democratic Governor of Massachusetts. He first won election to the statewide office in November 2006 and took office on January 4, 2007. He is the first black governor in Massachusetts. He is currently the only African-American governor in the United States.
• Under his leadership, Massachusetts was the first state to legalize gay marriage.  His youngest daughter is gay.
• He spent a year working with the United Nations in Africa.
• Patrick received his J.D. from Harvard Law School
• He was an attorney for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund.

Theodore B. Olson

• Olson is a partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, a law firm in Washington D.C.
• Mr. Olson was Solicitor General of the United States during the period 2001-2004.  From 1981-1984 he was Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Office of Legal Counsel in the U.S. Department of Justice.
• He was selected by Time magazine in 2010 as one of the 100 most influential people in the world; Mr. Olson is one of the nation’s premier appellate and United States Supreme Court advocates.
• As Solicitor General, during the presidency of George W. Bush, Mr. Olson was the Government’s principal advocate in the United States Supreme Court, responsible for supervising and coordinating all appellate litigation of the United States, and a legal adviser to the President and the Attorney General.
• In July of 2010, Mr. Olson was appointed by President Obama to serve as a member of the ten-person Council of the Administrative Conference of the United States.

Evan Wolfson

• Evan served in the Peace Corps in a village in Togo, West Africa.
• He graduated from Harvard Law School in 1983.
• Wolfson is the founder and President of Freedom to Marry, the campaign to win marriage nationwide.
• Evan served as marriage project director for Lambda Legal Defense & Education Fund, was co-counsel in the historic Hawaii marriage case, and participated in numerous gay rights and HIV/AIDS cases.
• In 2004, Evan was named one of the “Time 100,” Time magazine’s list of “the 100 most influential people in the world.”

Mark McKinnon

• McKinnon is an award-winning media producer and communications strategist who has served as principal media advisor for hundreds of corporate and political campaigns around the world. He has been awarded more than 30 Pollie and Telly awards, honoring the nation’s best political and public affairs advertising.
• He was appointed by President Bush to serve as a member of the Broadcasting Board of Governors, the independent, autonomous entity responsible for all U.S. government- sponsored, non-military, international broadcasting. The nine-member board includes Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
• McKinnon currently serves on the board of the Lance Armstrong Foundation, and lectures at the JFK School of Government at Harvard University and the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin.
• McKinnon is a two-time Ironman finisher.

Tony Perkins

• Perkins is the president of the Family Research Council, a conservative Christian think tank.
• He served two terms as a Republican member of the Louisiana House of Representatives.
• Perkins urged Congress to pass the Federal Marriage Amendment that defines marriage as the union between one man and one woman.
• In 2010, under Perkins’s leadership, the Family Research Council was classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

What an honor for Clay Aiken to be a part of this panel.  I am sure he will be an active participant in the conversation and surprise many people with his intelligence and knowledge.

Clay Aiken – A Guest on Face The Nation

In the early evening, Clay paid a visit to Ed Schultz, to discuss President Barack Obama‘s gay marriage announcement.

The Internet site, Media-ite wrote about Clay’s visit:

Aiken said the president’s support has an “incredible impact” — specifically to young LGBT people who will be empowered by hearing their president speak out for their rights. The president’s stepping out on “the right side of history” is particularly notable, he said, because of his stature as such a prominent figure.

Pivoting to today’s story about Mitt Romney’s reported high school anti-gay bullying incident, Aiken responded that it’s “heartbreaking” and “a little frightening” — coming from someone who has been bullied. Romney’s apology, he said, was “disheartening” because it “was sort of half-assed, if you will.”

On a more political note, Aiken noted the contrast between the two choices in November. They have starkly different records on LGBT rights, he said, and Obama is the most accepting president we’ve had.

Clay did a great job.  He was articulate, knowledgeable, and heartfelt as he talked about a topic so important to him

Clay also appeared on the show, ShowBiz Tonight.  The following is from the ShowBiz site:

Clay Aiken is ecstatic over President Obama’s recent decision to publicly support gay marriage. Showbiz Tonight spoke to the openly-gay singer about comments made by Bristol Palin on her blog criticizing Obama for his gay-marriage bombshell. Plain writes, ‘While it’s great to listen to your kids’ ideas, there’s also a time when dads simply need to be dads. In this case, it would’ve been helpful for him to explain to Malia and Sasha that while her friends parents are no doubt lovely people, that’s not a reason to change thousands of years of thinking about marriage.’ Aiken doesn’t believe Palin will be affected by his marriage to another male and that he should be afforded the same rights as everybody else. The ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ contestant has a new album, Steadfast, available now.

Clay was dressed a bit more casual for this show, but still looked professional.  He did an amazing job of talking about the topic and had a lot of screen-time.
