His name is Nathan. He just graduated from the Columbus College of Art & Design. Top of his class. No kidding.

He popped in, gave me his resume, showed me a small portfolio. He was nice. But I've learned not to fall in love with a candidate during their interview. The designer I love in an interview is never the person I hire. I tell each one to go home, find a wall, come up with something to write on it, and make it look gorgeous.

One of the last guys I hired (I'd love to hire a woman some day) was Adrian. Also from CCAD, his degree was 3D animation. I told him flat out he should pursue that path; what he did and what we did seemed so different. But I invited him to try his hand at a few Graffiti samples. The guy I thought would blow me away didn't. Adrian did.

Nathan didn't just send me a sample or two. He built me a website!

Should I have hired him? Tell me what you think.

Teddi says ...

"This is right outside the door to our wine cellar. I had the idea and contacted the designer at Wonderful Graffiti and he was great to work with. He sent several idea and was willing to work with my changes until I got just what I was looking for.
