NVIDIA GeForce driver 196.75 kills video cards

If you've recently updated your system to use NVIDIA's latest 196.75 WHQL GeForce driver, then you'll probably want to consider rolling back to a previous driver, as some users are reporting that issues with fan speed control are causing their graphics boards to fail. NVIDIA are currently investigating the problems, and have pulled the driver in question from their web site for the time being.

Several StarCraft II beta testers have reported their PC or video cards have died after installing the NVIDIA 196.75 drivers. The large amount of reports have prompted Blizzard Entertainment to issue an official statement on the tech support forums after identifying the source of the problem.

Nvidia says :

We are aware that some customers have reported fan speed issues with the latest 196.75 WHQL drivers on NVIDIA.com. Until we can verify and root cause this issue, we recommend that customers stay with, or return to 196.21 WHQL drivers. Release 196.75 drivers have been temporarily removed from our Web site in the meantime.

Some chinese pandrive,ipod etc are fake they show large space but they have not much storage in it. If you want to check them copy any(mp3,video etc) file from pc to ipod and than again copy from ipod to pc if all file are not working properly then this one a fake ipod

Start> Run> bring up a command prompt by typing in “CMD” and type ” fsutil dirty query g: “. this will check if the drive is dirty or not. here g is the drive of your ipod
then do a Chkdsk manually by typing “Chkdsk /f /r g:”

How to repair broken ribbon cable

Ribbon cable are really pain to repair as they require too much hard work and really good concentration to repair as they are delicate ... that why i use to break them when doing some electronic project.

Recently i broke ribbon cable of my apple mighty mouse and i searched all Ebay for that spare part but no luck i couldn't find a single part , especially in india it's too difficult to get all these stuff.

But you see necessity is the mother of all invention , i did't invent this process but luckily i did repaired my ribbon cable.

Procedure Goes here:

To repair ribbon cable, expose the ends of the ribbon wires. Fine sandpaper (say 600 grade) usually achieves this is , but personally i used a fine razor blade.

"You only need to abrade about 1-2mm of the insulation for this and only on ONE side of the ribbon. Check with a continuity checker and a couple of sharp pins that you really have access to the wire.

"Use a piece of flexible adhesive tape Stick this on the back of the broken cable (i.e the side you DIDN't abrade), aligning the broken pieces as closely as possible.

"Next you take another two pieces of tape and you put them over the TOP of the ribbon cable so they wrap round to the tape underneath, but leaving a small gap at the point where the exposed wires are.

"Finally we are ready to bridge the broken cables. This is done with conductive epoxy resin. Silver-loaded resin can be purchased from specialist electronic stores. It is not cheap but cheaper than a new gadget, for sure, or more easier u can use fine point conductive pen and overcoat pen you can buy them from SUMITRON

I really don't know why should i post this as i am white hat, but when i was in certain countries, school and colleges, which use to ban good websites like facebook youtube and orkut, then i thought what should i use to watch these banned website, first thing came to my mind is to connect to a proxy server in some other countries, ya that as a good thought and also a secure method from hackers and viruses that can pry on my computer,

But sometimes that can be too cumbersome to connect to a proxy server Hotspotshield

But installing a software and using it at ease is not my way of working.

Than i thought of using google translator

As banned website can be routed though google server and make it appear like a valid site.

Just go to google translate enter website address and voila!!! it has opened.

TBot, the WLM robot translator provides machine translations to WLM buddies. It is a part of the services offered by http://translator.live.com. TBot might not have the human translation skills but enough to break the barriers of communication.

Easier way of remembering strong password

Now a days with increasing number of security threats and more and more exploits and tools all accounts are easily compromised.

We tend to choose password which can be easy to remember so end up with our birthdate, spouse name etc etc ... these are the guys who don't care about their account and can open 2nd account when one is compromised.

Now there are some smart ass who are serious about losing their account they don't do mistakes which are done by normal user and so they choose password with words and numbers but i must tell you these are too vulnerable

i cracked this is 90 minutes

good password but not so strong and can be easily hacked by any tool using dictionary list of words , most popular tool is "johntheripper" there are better and faster available now

So now we are in fix as we cant remember the random letters ( but we can remember word easily) as all of us don't have sharp memory or may be sharp enough to remember all the password of different accounts be it Email, Bank password.

This can be solved easily as below

There are two types of CD-ROM drives we can mod:
24x to 40x
40x or higher

Drives slower than 24x are too old to be modded.

24x to 40x CD ROMs

Laser Head Adjustments:
The track pitch of CDs is 1.6 microns, and the track pitch of DVDs is only 0.8 microns. The minimum length of track pits of CDs is 0.843mm, and the minimum length of track pits of DVDs is 0.293mm. That's why DVD discs can store much more data in the size of a CD.

Pinpointing this situation, we need to adjust the laser head so it can read discs with smaller track pitchs and shorter track pits. Open up the CD-ROM drive, do you see a lens on the rail? That's the laser head. On the side of the laser head, there's a screw you can adjust.

This is the key of this mod.
This screw can adjust the size of the laser beam that lands on the disc. Referring to the above, after adjusting, the laser beam should be less than 0.293mm, to suit the needs of DVD discs. So turn that screw 2-3 times. I got this number through trial and error. Mark with a pencil, in case you forget how many times you turned that screw.

Speed adjustments:
DVD-ROM drives can play DVD movies smoothly at 4x speed. If we're modding a 32x CD-ROM drive, the rotation speed is obviously too high, increasing heat, and shortening the life of the drive.

So we need to decrease the speed of it.
Most people know that power supplies can provide 5V (red wire) and 12V (yellow wire) electricity output for Molex connectors. Find the Molex connector you'll plug into the modded CD-ROM drive, cut the yellow wire or insulate it with tape, so only 5V of electricity is transferred to the CD-ROM drive. The speed of the drive is now 32 * 5/17 = 9.41x and can now fulfill our requirements.

40x or higher CD ROMs

When 40x CD-ROM drives are released, most manufacturers are already producing DVD-ROM drives. To lower cost, they use the same core as DVD-ROM drives with DVD functions disabled. What we need to do here is to re-enable the DVD function.
Open up the CD-ROM, behind the circuit board, look for a jumper that says DVD JUMP. Find a jumper to connect this jumper. Thin metal wire also works fine.

OK, so the DVD function is unlocked, but we still need to decrease the speed. Use the instructions above on how to decrase the speed of the drive.

Notes:
Modded drives cannot be detected in POST, that means you cannot use it in DOS. But once you get into Windows, the drive works fine.
Modded drives have no region code problems.
Modded drives MIGHT NOT read DVD9 discs, that's why I said you can watch most retail DVDs in the beginning

To this what can be done is that the USB can be blocked and then stopping the use of USB drives,fearing you would loose your sensitive data Here is a simple registry hack to do so, try it with care.

1. Go to Start –> Run, type Regedit.
2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlset\Servic es\USBStor
3. In the right pane, look for value Start and have value as 0000000(3)
4. Double click on that and change that value to 4.

You might be required to restart the PC, and then you are done with it, USB is now blocked.

In case if you want to get the USB unblocked, just change the value again to 3

Vbs file function (start.vbs) function to run a bat file (ABC.bat) secretly term or background process. While the bat file (ABC.bat) function to run the copy all files with a certain extensions in the target computer.
Example above is a copy of all the files jpg extension(image file) is in the My Documents folder on the target computer (see the third line script bat file) and saved into the flash disk into the appropriate folder with the name of the target computer. you can edit their own page on the second file format as needed files and folders on the target you will copy.

You may notice occasionally when you're searching for a word, Google will offer a link to Web definitions of your word. This is part of Google's hidden dictionary, a search of definitions on the Web.
Say you'd like to find out what a "clew" is. You could search for define clew, and most of the search results would have some sort of definition. However, this is really just a keyword search, so some of the results might be long articles on clews or only mention the definition in passing.

Define: Your Terms

If you're really only interested in finding a quick dictionary style definition of clew, use the syntax define:. The search in this case would be define: clew. From that search, we can instantly see that a clew is the lower corner of a boat sail.

The information is coming from a variety of dictionary related Web sites, and there's a link to the full entry for each Web site. Google also provides links to related searches, such as "clew bay."

What If You Can't Spell?

Rather than going to a Web site that lists local movies and showtimes, you can find out when a theater near you is playing a movie in one quick and easy step in Google.
The syntax for this is movie: followed by the movie name and your city name and state or zip code. Do put spaces in between the words. Capitalization doesn't matter. For instance, you could find local listings of 3 idiots in Mumbai by searching for:

movie: 3 idiots, Mumbai

Note: Google is not forgiving with the spelling of movie names. You must spell the movie exactly the way it appears, although you can leave off words Google usually ignores, such as "a" or "the."

Not only does Google list showtimes in theaters near that location, if there are any, it also shows you average movie reviews. You can click on the rating to the left to see more specific reviews pulled from various professional review sources.
Click on the map link next to a movie theater to open Google Maps and find driving directions to the movie. Click on the name of the theater to see all movies that are playing at that theater, plus reviews of those movies.

Next time you want to see a movie, just use Google and find out when your movie is playing, whether it's worth seeing, and what else is playing instead. It's faster than finding listings in the newspaper.

Google's phonebook can find US public business and residential numbers, and it can find them with less information than you need to look through the paper phonebook.
Google's phonebook is hiding within Google. Occasionally, phone numbers will appear in the search results page, depending on the keywords you type into the search box.

To access the phonebook directly, type phonebook: before your search. This opens up Google's residential phonebook.

You can find someone's phone number, but you do have to give Google a little information. For personal numbers, you generally need at least a last name and a state. To find all the Kaushal Kishore in US, for example, type phonebook:Kaushal Kishore. That's a lot of Kaushal Kishore, and probably not very useful to find a specific Kaushal Kishore. If you know more information, such as the city you're looking for or the full name, type that in too.

Limitations

Google's phonebook can only find public phone numbers. It can't find cell numbers. Quite often the numbers are outdated. I found two outdated phone numbers for a relative of mine, and his current phone number wasn't listed at all, even though it is public.

Reverse Lookup

Say you have a phone number and you want to find out who's number it is, such as from a message left on your cell phone. To do a reverse lookup, simply type the phone number into the main Google search engine, including the area code. Type using the format 555-555-5555 for best results. Google will still find the phone number if you use parenthesis around the area code, but you may also find some irrelevant results.

Remember, Google's phonebook doesn't contain any cell phone data.

When Google does find the name and address matching a phone number, it will also give you an handy link to Google Maps to get driving directions to that address.

This might look like a tool designed for stalkers, but Google is just putting together information already available from local phone directories and Internet phonebook searches. If you don't want Google to list your name and number, you can search for your own phone number and click on the "Request to have your name removed from this list" link in the search results. This will not remove your name from other Internet directories or phonebooks.

On my laptops keyboard (QWERTY) there are some ridges on the F and J buttons, what are they for?

People who touch-type (type without looking) use these two ridges to determine the position of their fingers on the keyboard. Touch typists put the index finger of their left hand on F and the index finger of their right hand on J before they type so they know where their fingers are at.
