PDB files, or Palm Database files, are typically used by Palm OS-based programs to store information for their applications. However, they can also be used as regular text files for the storage of electronic books (eBooks). If you intend to amass a collection of PDB files for this purpose, however, you must use a special program that reads PDB files to see them.

eReader

One of the first actual eBook readers for the Palm OS, eReader organizes and structures PDB files for you to read. Its features include the ability to bookmark your position in a book, as well as search for specific words inside the PDB file. The upgrade to eReader, eReader Pro, also allows direct linking to a dictionary of your choice, as well as different color themes you can use.

Palm Reader

The Palm Reader endorsed by the online bookseller Powell’s Books also has the capability to read PDB files, even those that do not come from Powell’s Books, as long as it is a PDB file. The Palm Reader can also read custom text such as italicized or bold fonts, and it automatically adds any PDB file that has been installed onto your Palm PDA.

iSilo

iSilo bills itself as a program available on multiple operating systems. It reads several different types of files, including PDB files. iSilo can also send and receive documents from another Palm-based PDA through the infrared beam available on most Palm devices. It can also copy and paste anything from a sentence on a document to the entire document itself.

Enjoy your iPod’s contents from the comfort of your vehicle.
The Apple iPod is a personal media player that plays audio and video files on its portable screen. As of 2010, more and more vehicles are offering iPod connections that allow you to control and play your iPod’s contents on your vehicle’s stereo system. You can use three types of connections to hook your iPod up to your vehicle.

USB Cable

The USB cable connection allows you to control your iPod from your car’s head unit. The USB connection port is often directly into the stereo head unit, but is sometimes located in the glove box or center console.

IPod Docking Cable

The iPod docking cable is the connection that many new vehicles come with standard. The docking cable gives you complete control of your iPod from the vehicle’s stereo controls. The iPod cable gives you the most natural controls as the iPod’s contents are displayed on the stereo.

Auxiliary Cable

The auxiliary cable connects to your iPod’s headphone jack. You control the iPod from the iPod’s controls and the audio is transferred to your stereo’s speakers like as if through a pair of headphones.
