Getting the facts about identity theft is one of the best ways to protect yourself and your personal financial information. There are many facts about identity theft that the average consumer simply does not know. How do thieves get your information? What do they do with it? What information should you always keep personal? How can you protect yourself? It is a fundamental identity theft fact that the thieves are sneaky! If they were not cunning, they would be able to steel your identity as easily as they do. Most consumers have no idea how vulnerable their personal identities are. But losing your identity is not always the doings of a sneaky crook. It can be as simple as having your purse or wallet stolen. Your identity is now at risk. Some of the sneakier methods include obtaining credit card numbers, PIN numbers, and social security numbers through fraudulent means. This can be done through the Internet, e-mail, the telephone, and even spying at ATMs. Some identity thieves even dig through the garbage to take advantage of hastily thrown away credit card offers and bank information.

Protection against Identity Theft

Most of the identity theft facts you need to know will show up on your credit report. It is crucial to check your credit report as often as possible, making sure the only things that show up on it are the activities you actually participated in. The good news is that you can receive a free copy of your credit report, up to three times a year. There are three major credit bureaus that keep track of consumer information, Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. It is an identity theft fact that they are required to give you a free copy of your credit report once a year, and if you do this with each agency, this gives you three credit reports a year. Of course, you can pay to have even more copies if there is a problem.

Keep all passwords, back account numbers, social security numbers, and other personal information in a safe place, such as a safe or your freezer. Also, do not make passwords easy to guess. This is one of the ways that identity thefts gain access to your information, through guessing your password. When doing business, take the time to learn the facts about identity theft, and how they relates to the company you are working with. Make sure you ask about their security procedures. Find out how they plan to keep your information safe. If you do not feel comfortable with their answers, find another company to do business with.

Never give out personal information any way other than in person. This is not always possible, but use precautions to avoid becoming a target to thieves. Do not give out social security number online, no matter what. This is the biggest way your identity can be stolen, through your social security number. Keep it safe!

Home security systems, especially the best quality ones, can be expensive! If you don't want to spend a lot of money on a system, consider using a fake security camera to help deter would-be criminals from your property. A fake security camera is a cost-effective way to keep intruders from robbing your home, as they will think your home is protected.

Just like the Real Thing?

Much like real security systems, a fake security camera can go anywhere and appear to be the real deal. Gone are the days of obvious phonies, the newest model of a fake security camera may appear much like the higher-priced real models, and come complete with realistic stickers and blinking lights. Some even come with motion sensors which can move as if they're filming the subject, without actually recording or transmitting video.

For just under a hundred dollars, you can fool intruders and give yourself the peace of mind in knowing you've boosted your protection. While it is best for businesses to go for the real deal, homeowners and parents can keep household staff in line by putting in a fake security camera that appear to be running full time.

What about the Down Side?

A fake security camera actually come in lots of different styles and options and for as low as fifteen dollars per camera, this is a great idea for your budget. However, you do not get the same protection you would get from police assistance if you do happen to get broken into with this measure in place. There are some criminals who have been known to study a camera's movements and timing so that they can take advantage of the camera's limits and continue their crime. If this should happen to you, you are almost certainly left high and dry, as there will be no hard proof of the individual who robbed you.

It might not be the one-hundred-percent safest option for you and your family, but buying a fake security camera system will make you feel the slightest bit better about protecting your family. Intruders will certainly think twice about breaking in and stealing your things as they believe your home to be protected. It's not the best way for safety, but for those on a tight budget, buying a fake security camera might be the only way to go. You get all the warning power of a safety security system without the high price or all the wiring.

Unfortunately, all of us are potential victims of identity theft. If you fall into the hands of identity theft, you will need to know the next steps to take to protect your self as much as possible. First, you must contact your local authorities to receive a police report or number. The police are probably not going out of their way to help you, but still you need that report. Some departments of law differ from others, meaning that some officers are compassionate, while others could care less. Sometimes this is due to the restrains put on the law enforcement to prevent or fight a crime, while other times it is because the law hires in employees that have backgrounds that would scare the beard off your grandmother's chin.

In other words, the law enforcement hires in perpetrators of crimes without even knowing until the crimes are committed. Unfortunately, there is a lot of cover up in law enforcement, but still that report is necessary to finish your procedures in identity theft.

The next step is to contact the Federal Trade Commission Identity Theft Clearinghouse, where these people will spread the word that your identity was stolen. In some instances, it helps, while in other incidents it appears all in vain. The most important step that follows contacting the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is to contact the credit bureaus.

The credit bureaus store your personal information, including FICO scores. Call TransUnion, Equifax and Experian alerting them that your identity was stolen and request immediate copies of your reports. The copies are free at this point, thus make sure you notify the proper credit bureaus. If anyone tries to charge, you learn your rights before calling and let them know that they are within violation of your rights. Equifax, Experian and TransUnion often give little problems when requesting reports, especially if you are a victim of identity theft.

Once your reports arrive, review the reports with vigilance searching for any debts, bankruptcies, tax liens, delinquencies, et cetera on the reports that do not belong to you. Any charges unauthorized by you are sure to follow up by filling out the dispute forms provide by the credit bureaus immediately. The bureau will carry out an investigation on your behalf, by contacting the companies or sources accusing you and requesting proof of the debts. If the bureaus find there is not sufficient information that insinuates that you caused the debt, the bureaus will place "deleted' or "dismissed" behind the debt. Under law, the credit bureaus are obligated to remove any debts from your credit reports that clearly were not incurred by you.

Keep original copies of all reports, letters received and sent, and other documentations in a safe filing cabinet. It is important to keep the files organized and never throw them away under any circumstances. Furthermore, do not store the files on your computer, unless you are not connected to a server (Internet). If you decide to hook the Internet up to the computer, immediately remove the files, storing them on storage mediums, such as tapes, disc, floppy, external Medias, or Zip drives. Always, keep a hard copy in a filing cabinet. Learn how to keep notes of all activities and never throw away any receipts, especially if you purchased by credit/debit cards, or checks.

When you contact the credit bureaus make sure you request the bureaus to place a Fraud Alert of Freeze on your accounts. Immediately close bank accounts, credit card accounts and other accounts in your name. Next, contact your Secretary of State or Department of Motor Vehicle and report the crime. You will also need to contact the Social Security Administration alerting them that your identity was stolen.

You will also need to learn steps to prevent further activities and learn how to reduce second identity theft odds. Victims of identity theft often feel "What's the purpose." Thus, some victims fell, victim of identity theft a second time, since they felt hopeless from the first crime. Try to remember that thieves are predators that harm the entire population, thus fighting back is the only chances you have of survival and winning the crime committed against you.

If you do not have enough knowledge about it, you will not be prevented from being a victim of it.

All you need to do is to prevent yourself from being the victim.

However, how are you going to do that?

Read this article and find out how you can prevent being victimized by these thieves.

The best way to protect you from being a victim of identity theft is to protect your information. You should know all the possibilities that your information can be obtained. You must be of good control over your information to avoid it from being stolen.

You should be aware of the means to obtain your information. There are in fact many ways to get it. These are the following means:

* Purchasing goods and services over the net
* Online banking
* Throwing away your previous credit cards without destroying it
* Storing personal data and information in your computer
* Cellular phone use
* Wireless phone use
* Using your passwords and numbers for identification

You need to safeguard your personal information using the following techniques. You should be conscious about it, as it will give you proper education on what to do and what to learn in terms of handling your account. Follow these simple guidelines to protect yourself from the harm of identity theft:

* It is safer to memorize your security codes and numbers other than writing it down. Never print these numbers on your checks.

* Give your files protection from making passwords. These can only be opened if your personal security code or password is entered.

Never use your birth date or your name as a password; it can be an easy guess to the people.

* Require your credit bureaus to give you regular reports on the review of your credit accounts.

* Install software in your computer to avoid malicious software to enter your computer. Software such as firewall will minimize the chances of downloading bad software such as spyware, adware, and keyloggers.

This software will unnoticeably enter your computer to spy on all the operation made in your computer. With the use of firewalls, you are sure to get rid of this malicious software in real time.

* Do not include your personal information on the email inquiry. You should also avoid sending information over email.

If you are sure that the reputable website sent you a business transaction, go to the particular official website of the sender to reply. Never use the link indicated on the email sent.

* Never open mail attachments if you are not sure about who sent it to you. These attachments may contain software that can enter your computer system unnoticeably. This problem can be solved by using software that gets rid of them. Choose software that updated continuously.

* Do not provide personal information when you are filling up forms online. Do not provide your personal data and most special your financial information online.

* During a telephone call, never give your personal data and information on the one you are talking to.

You can give your financial information and other data if you are the one to initiate the conversation.

* Never mind the mails that tell you to complete your application on credit cards especially online.

* Never discard any previously used credit card before destroying it. Shred it tears it and torn it into pieces to secure that these credit cards will not be used again.

* If you lose your credit cards of other important cards report about it immediately to authorized personnel. You should temporarily close your account until the card has been captured.

* Destroy all the documents that contain your personal data and information. Burning them can be more preferable.

* Never discard bank receipts, credit card receipts and transaction receipt in public areas. Some people may obtain this information and use it against you.

Many parents lead a very busy life and feel they no longer have time to watch their kids properly. For many of them, a nanny is a good solution, but this is much more complicated than it sounds. Finding someone you feel you can trust and can get along well with the kids may be a difficult task. Even if you've hired a nanny, you might not be sure whether you can trust her at first.

Hidden Cameras

A very popular method to get rid of this problem is a hidden camera. With a home security camera you can watch over the kids when you're away from home or just in another room. A wireless Internet security camera hidden inside a teddy bear might be just the thing you need to watch over your kids from distance. A teddy bear goes well in any children room, thus providing you with an efficient and discreet nanny-watching system. You can access the camera from any PC, smart phone or PDA.

With a wireless Internet security camera, you can watch over your kids 24/7 even while working. This way you can take care of your business without neglecting your family. You can make sure your nanny is doing her job properly and rush back home in case of any problem.

The Set-up

A hidden wireless Internet security camera usually works on batteries or with an AC adapter. You can connect the receiver to any TV monitor in your house for video transmission. The camera comes with a CD with complete instructions and a user manual to help you with the set up.

However, the set up is generally pretty basic. The components are easy to set up and professional manufacturers generally have a technical support phone line where you can call if you have problems.

The camera also comes with a software package that works on any Windows compatible computer. After installing it on your PC, PDA or laptop, you will get a unique user ID and a password that will allow you to connect to the wireless Internet security camera from anywhere in the world for live video transmission.

No matter how successful your career is, you children are definitely the most important part of your life. Living them home unsupervised or in the hands of an irresponsible baby-sitter who doesn't know how to take care of them is certainly not an option. With a wireless Internet security camera hidden inside an adorable and inconspicuous teddy bear, you can watch over your kid 24/7, no matter where you might travel with your job.

Here you can find some information to help you choose the perfect network security camera for your needs. Whether you need it for home or office surveillance or to monitor somebody, it doesn't matter. This type of camera is easy to use and the most important thing, you can see what is going on wherever you are.

What is a Network Security Camera?

This type of security camera is an exciting new branch of surveillance and security. The servers and cameras can be used with computer networks that eliminate the need to run a system of cables. You can use a standard server or PC to store or backup all recorded video or to run the central client software because of its efficiency. The possibility to view real time video securely on the Internet from wherever you are is an added benefit of a network security camera.

When using good network IP software, you have no limits on how many cameras to connect to a server. Although a hardware performance cap may limit the amount of cameras to only several hundred. In time as hardware efficiency grows, these limitations will disappear.

Products

The AXIS 214 PTZ network security camera offered by Axis Communications is a high performance camera for remote monitoring and professional surveillance. It combines the flexibility of remote pan/tilt/zoom with a high quality color camera through operator control and it has 18x optical motorized lens and auto focus that will allow you to zoom in on a distant or small object with exceptional clarity.

AXIS 214 PTZ features include automatic day and night function, high resolution camera with 704×576 pixels, Built-in video motion detection and much more. Another product offer by Axis Communications is Axis 210A network security camera, a professional-level network camera for monitoring indoor locations. The camera can receive both power and data over a single Ethernet cable because of a built-in power over ethernet (PoE). This makes the installation cheaper and easier.

The Axis 210A has the ability to connect external speakers and a built-in microphone that will allow you to view and listen in on an area and also to communicate with people at the location of the camera. It is ideal for monitoring shops, offices and other facilities over the Internet or the local area network. Other advanced functions include pre and post alarm buffers, video motion detection and alarm notification via e-mail. There is a network surveillance camera for all types of surveillance, so find the one that is right for your needs.

A host of companies provide credit monitoring as well as protection to ensure that no one swipes your credit card number and applies for credit in your name. In case a thief does manage to steal your identity, you should have identity theft insurance to protect yourself from imposters buying cars, charging up your credit cards or purchasing anything else in your name and, then vanishing. Most victims of identity theft never realize how their identity became stolen and, only come to know about it when an angry creditor calls or the credit card is refused. According to experts, it is believed that an estimated 400,000 Americans become victims of identity theft every year. Identity theft is the fastest growing consumer crime in America and so, people are willing to pay a few dollars each month to get themselves identity theft insurance and, buy peace of mind.

However, some experts are of the opinion that identity theft insurance cannot protect the victim from identity theft and, may also not cover direct monetary losses but, only covers some of the expenses incurred in dealing with the problem like the costs of placing phone calls and mailing documents as well as possible legal bills.

Guard Your Personal Information

Nevertheless, taking adequate steps in guarding your personal information as well as having an identity theft insurance will protect you from paying expenses incurred in defending your name, provide a certain amount of money to cover lost wages in case it is required through not attending work to sort out the identity theft matter and, will pay for your loan application fees, in case you apply for a re-application for a loan that has been refused to you, following an identity theft.

One should however, be aware of the fact that many of the companies providing identity theft insurance are the same ones that fail to protect your personal information, in the first place. In addition, identity theft may be committed by a person one knows and, identity theft insurance will mostly not pay if the crime is committed by a family member; so, there is not much protection obtained from the identity theft insurance.

It may be more prudent to save on the money that one needs to spend on identity theft insurance and, utilize it on protecting one's personal information. It means protecting one's social security number, paying bills online, shredding documents containing personal information and opting out of credit offers and so reduces the chances of the offer being stolen from one's mailbox or trash.

Identity theft worksheets can be valuable tools to combat the horrible possibility and reality of this increasing crime against normal people. A person does not have to live in a high crime area or walk through a ghetto to be a victim of identity theft. An identity thief could find information about you and use it to steal your money, your name and your complete identity. Someone else could be using your identity to get a job, a credit card or a car. Identity theft worksheets can be a great tool if this should happen to you or someone you know.

Once a thief steals the identity of another person, the process of reversing the damage can be frustrating, expensive and frightening. The person affected will soon discover that the crime has been committed, and they will have to start a process to recover their identity. The goal for each person will be to restore their accounts and credit history to the way it was before the violation by one of these thieves. Identity theft worksheets, when completed properly, should help an affected person reverse the damage done by the thief.

Identity Theft Worksheets Should Be Completed Carefully

Identity theft worksheets are designed by experts to make sure that each affected person takes all of the necessary steps for recovery. The best identity theft worksheets provide guidelines for the action that should be taken as soon as the crime is revealed. People find out about identity theft in different ways. Some people find out immediately if they check their accounts regularly. The victims will soon notice that withdrawals or charges appear on their accounts that they do not recognize. Some people do not realize there is a problem for some time after more damage is done.

Each victim should use identity theft worksheets, and they should follow each and every step carefully. The problems of identity theft differ from case to case so each person should study each part of an identity theft worksheet to determine the relevance of each part of an identity theft worksheet to their particular case. Identity theft worksheets should be kept for a couple of years after the problem is solved as problems from this theft could arise years after the matter seems to be resolved. The victim will have to prove that a crime has been committed, and the identity theft worksheets will aid the victim in this regard.

Identity theft is more and more prominent in today's society. Social Security numbers, credit cards, checks, banking information, these are major targets of identity thieves. Sadly, identity thieves often get away with their heinous acts leaving you to pick up the pieces and move on with your life. If you or someone you know has been a victim of identity theft, a great way to protect others from this terrible problem is to share your identity theft story. By telling others your identity theft story can help keep them aware of their surroundings, and prevent it from happening again. Being watchful of clerks that are taking your checks at Wal-Mart, or being careful of the information you're giving self proclaimed telemarketers over the phone can keep your identity or finances out of danger. One of the most impact full ways to open the eyes of others is hearing your identity theft story. Send out mass emails, post bulletins, and let people know what happened to you so that they can be prepared and aware of the dangers that are lurking when personal information can fall into the wrong hands.

Share Your Identity Theft Story

There are so many support websites available so that people can talk to each other and vent about frustrations involving your identity theft story. These can be beneficial for you as a way to voice your opinions and deal with the stresses involved in fixing the effects of identity theft. These types of websites can also be the saving grace for other people going through the same things. Watching the way you handled your identity theft story can inspire or teach people that may be experiencing something similar.

You Can Help

Your identity theft story can be more of an asset to others than you know. Sometimes the best way to cope with a situation is to help others either avoid it, or work through it. People fall into habits where they trust department store clerks and credit card readers because they expect society to protect them from the dangers of the world we live in. Sadly, this is not the case at all, as you may be well aware of now, people aren't always honest, and life is rarely fair. But by opening up and sharing your identity theft story, you may be able to help spawn a new thief conscious society that will help crack down on identity thieves and prevent these horrible experiences from taking place.

There are a lot of security cameras on the market and you'll find both black and white and color cameras. (...)

There are a lot of security cameras on the market and you'll find both black and white and color cameras. Traditionally black and white cameras were cheaper and worked much better in poor light conditions. Black and white cameras are generally more sensitive and provide greater resolution. But the gap is narrowing a lot now. For most of your needs a color security camera will work pretty much the same as a black and white camera even in poor light condition and the prices have dropped a lot as well.

Do you need black & white or color?

You should still definitely choose a black and white camera if you want to monitor a very dark environment (you should also think of infrared cameras for these environments), but this could change in the near future, as color security cameras advance in performance. Keep in mind that color cameras have far more recognition qualities than black and white cameras, so it's better you test both black and white and color cameras in your environment before you decide.

There are environments where a color security camera is very important. For example, if you decide to setup surveillance for a parking lot, you should definitely use a color security camera, because this way you can better identify the monitored cars. It is also easier to identify products and people in a shop, based on color information.

Types of color cameras

Basically you can find color cameras based on all known technologies. If you want to be able to access your camera from the internet or just connect it to the network, an IP security camera would suit you best. Standard CCTV cameras are also available in color. CCTV cameras may provide higher quality images compared to digital cameras, but this is not always true. Also, most web cameras are color, but this isn't very helpful, since they don't work well in poor light conditions.

How to make sure it works

One way to make sure your color security camera will work in dark environment is purchasing video cameras that work day and night using infrared.

Another thing you should watch for is the camera lens. You may have the greatest color security camera installed, but if your lens doesn't zoom/focus as you need it to, the camera is mostly useless.

Color security camera prices range from as low as $75 to $800, as they vary in resolution, image quality and reliability. Also keep in mind that most cameras don't include a lens, so you need to pay extra for the lens.

Identity theft is one of the leading crimes today that is affected millions of individuals. As a victim and survivor of identity theft, I feel more than qualified to help you avoid becoming the next victim of the awful crime of identity. After battling seven long years, I am still in the struggling to restore my identity. However, after dealing with government officials, police agencies, Social Security Administration and others, I have made little wave in the restoration of my life.

Recently, after speaking with the government I learned that even applying for a new social security number would get me knows where, since the thief has my identity he/she will also have access to my new social security number.

Identity theft is one of the worst crimes that anyone can commit against another person. When a person takes your identity, your credit is negative and it is difficult to get credit from any lender. Furthermore, when your identity is robbed of you, it is difficult to find someone that will rent to you, or else extend you credit under any circumstances. When you call the three major credit bureaus that will ask you to send in your previous utility bills or rental receipts along with other information before you can even get your credit reports. The procedures of recovery your life is ungodly.

To prevent identity NEVER give out your information over the phone lines. It is important to avoid giving your information over the Internet as well. If you are, placing orders with credit cards or paying bills online make sure the site is secure before giving any information. If the site does not have a lock and key at the bottom of the page or else an 's' behind the http in the search engine then avoid giving any information at all cost.

If you are using the ATM at your bank, make sure no one is looking when you type in your PIN number. Also, if you are making purchases at gas stations, grocery stores or anywhere where you will use your credit card make sure that your PIN number is never seen by anyone. If you make purchases with credit cards be sure to keep the receipt and look it over thoroughly to make sure you are not charged for more than the purchase price. Never throw your letters or receipts in the garbage, rather if you receive letters in the mail with your information use a shredder to dispose of the information.

It is important to request copies of your credit reports randomly and if you notice, any debts on the reports dispute the charges immediately. You may also want to let your credit bureau report holders know that someone may have access to your identity. If you suspect this is true, ask the credit bureaus to place a FREEZE on your account verses a FRAUD ALERT. Fraud alerts only alert creditors that your credit report has been violated by someone, but will let the creditors know that you may be the source since investigation is pending. A FREEZE will block in outgoing or incoming information and protect you against negative points on your credit report.

It is important to hide your credit cards, social security number, driver license and other valuable information in a safe place where only you are capable of finding the information as needed. If you go through the drive thru at your local bank, pharmacy or other services few times the people will ask for your social security number and date of birth, thus ask them to send you a paper so that you can write the information down, rather than tell them through the speaker.

Finally, if anyone regardless if you know the source asks for your social security number on the phone lines, do not give them to them, rather ask that they send you a form to fill out so that you can provide the information needed after a background check of their service is conducted. Protect your self at all cost and do not become the next victim of identity theft.

Fighting identity theft is one of the harder things anyone will ever do in their lifetime. If you are not a victim of identity theft, act like a paranoid schizophrenic with your personal information, otherwise you are at risk. No offense to those souls suffering the element, but in this article you might find it to your likings, since I am about to give you credit for an ailment that many misunderstand.

A paranoid schizophrenia often feels like someone is out to get them and they will often guard their life and belongings to great lengths. In a sense, these people make perfectly good sense, since someone is out to get us all and that someone is thieves that are stealing identity each day. Those that go through great lengths to protect their belongings and persona may appear sick to a degree, but when you sit down and think about it, these people are correct in this level of their behaviors.

This is a sensitive topic for me, but on the other hand I have strong convictions on the subject that I feel can benefit anyone. As a victim of identity theft, I can tell you first hand that once your identity is stolen you know longer care about your belongings, persona, or if anyone is out to get you. In a sense, identity theft is worse than rape. Since when a person is raped they often seek counseling that helps them to cope with the trauma, yet when a person experiences identity theft after fighting for years to learn who they are in the first place, it all seems purposeless in the long range.

When you become a victim of identity theft, you are not a survivor anymore, rather you are a victim that struggles for the rest of your life wondering if you are going to get in trouble for no reason, or if some new stress will occur that will set you back thousands of miles. In other words, if someone steals your identity and commits a crime you are subject to arrest and could be tossed in jail. If you are a victim of identity theft, you never know what bill you will be paying next. Do not think the credit bureaus will help you out when debts mount on your reports, rather they merely put a statement behind the debt stating: disputed, fraud alert, resolved, et cetera. The remarks behind the debt only make creditors think that you disputed a charge for an apparent reason. The fraud alert will make them wonder if you are a criminal and the resolve alert will let the creditor know that you have paid the debt or so they assume. The world is filled with minds of assumptions that lead us nowhere, thus credit bureaus will only cause stress to an already existing over stressful situation.

If you rely on the authorities to help you out when you become a victim of identity theft, then you are wasting your time. From first hand experience, I can tell you the Government, Law Enforcement, and other sources that fight identity theft are of very little support and help. On rare occasion's perpetrators of identity theft are apprehended, but on more cases than not the perpetrator continues stealing identities while using yours in the meantime.

Identity theft is a crime; however, perpetrators are so swiftly articulated that it will take more than the force we have now to battle this on-going war of identity theft.

Therefore, if you have not become a victim of identity theft, act like a paranoid schizophrenia with your information. Even at home, you should conceal your information so that no one can gain access. Personally, if I was married I would probably be reluctant to give out my information to him at this point. The last remark should be disregarded, because trusting your spouse is part of loving your spouse, however, identity victims often feel insecure throughout the rest of their life, even when it comes to loved ones.

The feeling of becoming a long-lived victim is nothing short of dying; therefore protect your identity, since thieves are in all corners of the world.

There are so many different ways that a person can steal your identity, and now one of the most common issues in regards to this matter is that of identity theft on Myspace. Identity theft on Myspace is quite quickly becoming one of the biggest identity theft scams of all, and this is for many different reasons in particular.

More About Identity Theft on Myspace

One of the biggest reasons that identity theft on Myspace is now such a crucial issue is because such a vast number of people worldwide use Myspace. This makes it very easy for an identity thief to go on and find a number of different victims. Especially because younger children use Myspace, who may not realize how important it is not to give out personal information over the computer.

If you use Myspace, then you are going to want to understand how big of a deal identity theft on Myspace is quickly becoming, so that you do not become just another victim. Many people in fact are actually surprised to hear that they could have their identity stolen over Myspace, but when you actually take the time to think about it, it is not all that hard to believe.

After all, you put your name, where you are from, how old you are, where you were born, and a lot of other personal information that a person could quite easily take and use for their own purposes, and you really and unfortunately do not need much in order to steal another person's identity, and this is where the major problem lies.

If you use Myspace, this does not mean that you can never use it again, but you are just going to want to make sure that you take certain steps and precautions in order to make sure that you are as protected as possible against this issue. For instance, you should never put more personal information out there than you have to.

So put your photos up, write what you want, but at the same time try to limit what you put regarding your personal information. Do not put where you were born or what year, or where you are currently living, things like that, so that if someone does end up trying to steal your identity they will not have enough to work with, and thus will not be able to make you a victim of identity theft.

In 2002, federal investigators helped to crack an identity theft ring that had been going for almost three years. More than thirty thousand victims were involved in the problem. Eventually, three men were charged. They had caused more than two point seven million dollars in damage. The scam was the largest in the history of the United States. The entire scam started when the perpetrators worked for a company that collected information via the internet. The security flaws that existed then and currently exist helped the men to do their damage. Those security flaws can still be a problem today.

It is estimated that identity theft accounts for twenty-five percent of all credit card losses in the industry. Moreover, in some states, identity theft is not even illegal. It is relatively easy for a thief to get your identity. First, all a thief needs is your social security number; you birth date, and your contact information. Once he or she has any of this, they can get a fake ID, which will help them apply for credit, posing as you. Because so many lending institutions are eager to issue credit these days, information is not properly verified, and the first account leads to more accounts. This ruins your credit. It is simple for a thief to take the first step to get more information because of password protected sites where you have entered your information.

Industry analysts suggest that passwords are the weakest, most exploited form of protection in the internet industry. They are a serious security flaw. Once a password is created or issued, it is impossible to tell exactly who is using the password. It could be passed around from individual to individual without the company ever realizing a problem has occurred.

Even if thieves don't get your password, there are hundreds of other opportunities to start the processes with your contact information. Files about you exist everywhere. Your doctor has your contact information. Your lawyer has your contact information. Your banker has your contact information. Even your trash collection service probably has your contact information. If even a single person in any one of those offices decides to use or sell that information, an identity thief could be in business.

Identity thieves also exploit other internet security flaws to get your password. Phishing is one popular scam. In this model, you get an e-mail from a company you currently do business with asking you to verify your login and password through the link they've established in the e-mail. Once you click on that link and enter your name and password, you've just given your information to an identity thief without even knowing it. Another way thieves exploit security flaws is by hacking sites with poor security protocols. You can tell if the site you're dealing with has good security by looking at the address as you login. If the "http" turns to "https," you're dealing with a secure site. If it does not, it would be wise not to submit your information to the site.

Once you become aware of the fact that you are a victim of identity theft, the first thing you should do is call the fraud division of all three credit bureaus. They can send you a free credit report so you can examine the damage that has been done. The next thing you should do is contact your creditors. You will need to do this both on the phone and in writing. They can give you the evidence you need to go to law enforcement personnel. Debt collectors may begin to call, and if they do, you must inform them immediately that you are a fraud victim, and that you cannot be held responsible for the account itself. If they persist, you should obtain the name and number of the collection service, as you can report them to the Federal Trade Commission. The next call you should make should be to local law enforcement personnel. Offer them all of the evidence you have collected, and make sure the police report lists the accounts that have been used. You will need a copy of the police report to settle the accounts in question. Finally, keep a case log of the entire process. You should include receipts for things like phone bills, postage, and all other costs associated with your fraud case. These could be useful in the future.

Mini security cameras are very useful when your surveillance system layout needs to be secret. These cameras (also known as pinhole cameras) can be easily concealed in unlikely places. These video cameras have a micro lens of 1-2 mm visible diameter.

How do mini security cameras work?

Some of the available mini security cameras are quite small, having just a couple of inches in length and less then 1/3 of an inch in diameter. Because of the small diameter, mini security cameras can shoot through tiny holes or even clothing. The video is transmitted real-time just like any other camera. Some cameras can even record sound.

They are pretty easy to use, just set them up in the desired location and you can then connect them to a VCR, TV or wireless transmitter. Unfortunately this means you can't connect them directly to a computer and you need a video capture device (a standard TV tuner should be enough if you only have one camera).

Where to place a mini security camera?

Some mini cameras are disguised as everyday objects. You may even find wall clocks concealing a mini security camera. They are great for your office or shop. You can also find cameras hidden in teddy bears, to keep an eye on your children.

Other good hiding places are smoke detectors. You can even wear a mini security camera with your clothing and you can be sure no one will notice it. This way the camera remains covert for surveillance purpose.

Most mini security cameras use a wire to connect to the recording/monitoring equipment, but you can also purchase wireless spy kits that include a camera, a wireless transmitter and a wireless receiver. This way you get much more positioning options.

What can you do with it?

You can use a nanny camera to make sure your children are taken care of. Also, mini security cameras are a great tool for a detective. Some doctors use mini cameras to record their surgery for teaching purposes. Mini security cameras are great for supervising your business when you are not there to monitor everything. You can also use them to check on your spouse while you're away.

There are plenty of other creative ways you can use a mini security camera effectively. Your choices are unlimited. However, it all depends on what your needs are. These cameras are also very affordable and if you choose wisely, they are certainly worth the price.

Identity theft has wrecked many people's lives by draining them financially, which lead to professional and personal disasters. However, there are ways you can provide yourself and your family protection from identity theft and here you will find a few ways, which I hope will be of help in the future.

Prevention Is Better Than Cure

Most of us live under the wrong impression that something drastic such as identity theft is something that you will read about in the paper or see it in movies and that it cannot happen to you; unfortunately identity theft is real and it happens everyday especially on the internet where we all spend time and feel that it is a safe environment.

Internet is as safe as you make it and therefore you need to take several steps for protection from identity theft in order not to become one of the victims. While on the net the best way to ensure protection from identity theft is to have a good security system that detects phishing and stops it before it can get any personal data from you. If hackers have fooled your security protection you need to be extremely attentive to whom and where you give your personal data in order to ensure there is no fraud involved.

Other Ways to Get Protection from Identity Theft

Identity theft does not occur only on the Internet but everyday in places such as grocery stores, department stores, banks, post offices and even coffee houses where you are on the phone with a company from where you may want to purchase items and provide them with your credit cards details while others can hear it. The best protection from identity theft should and has to start from you therefore you need to be aware that identity theft can happen to you everyday if you are careless with your personal information and neglect the essential protection from identity theft.

If you have become a victim of identity theft, the only way to protect your money is to immediately call your bank and cancel you card and the same applies if you see any transaction occurred that you did not make. It is always best to let your bank know right away so they can cancel your card and keep a close watch on your account at the same time.

The identity theft of social security number is an issue that is incredibly important, and so you really want to take this matter into as serious consideration as you can. After all, in regards to identity theft in general, identity theft of social security number is one of the most common issues, and this is why you are going to want to learn as much as you can about the matter of identity theft of social security number.

More About Identity Theft of Social Security Number

In regards to the issue of identity theft of social security number, there is much that needs to be known. For instance, there is the fact of how you should never carry your social security card around with you unless you really have to, and this way you have less chance of losing it while you are out.

As well, when you do have it at home, you should make sure that it is somewhere safe, where no one else knows where it is and where it will not get lost. This is one of if not the absolute most important piece of identification that you have, and your social security card is the key thing that a person would need in order to steal your identity, which is why you should always make sure that you know where it is and that you make sure that it is safe.

If you do happen to lose it, you are going to want to make sure that you call the authorities right away, and that you notify everyone that you have to that the card has been lost or stolen, and make sure that everyone is aware of this. Then you want to make sure that you get yourself a new card, and if the old card never turns up, you want to make sure that you keep a status on it.

This means asking to see if the number has been used or reported anywhere, because if it has then you know that someone has found it and that they are using it, which obviously is illegal. Just make sure that you make yourself as informed as possible and that you take all of the right steps in order to protect yourself and take care of yourself if you do end up losing your card or having it stolen.
