I don’t know if you have been surprised by the outcome, but I think we have already assumed this upset. There are few reasons on apparent poor performance of the Chinese iPhone, mainly is the tough competition over the grey marketed iPhone and its crippled version.

Despite iPhone’s poor performance, China Unicom Chairman Chang Xiobing remains confident that it will regain its market stand with its 3G network roll out that has already signed up 1 million customers. "We are satisfied with iPhone sales so far, and we aim to have an additional 1 million new 3G subscribers each month in the near future," he said.

I’ve seen lots of fake phones coming from China, almost all brands. Now do you think would anyone dare to grab the much expensive and crippled Chinese version iPhone? Plus the fact that there are lots of imported unlocked fully-functional iPhone available there, that I know much Chinese would be interested in.

I don’t know what you are thinking, but I want to here something from you.

Archos 9 now available for pre-order in North America

However, we can’t settle the fact that each brand has their strengths; NVIDIA is known for their sophisticated video cards while ATI is for their decent video cards plus the affordability. Since the last few months, ATI has been in campaign unveiling battalions of graphics card that has received a positive response from gamers for its decent performance at a good price. Maybe part of this slew of video cards is this new dual GPU that has been leaked all over the web.

The new dual GPU is called ATI HD 5970 which features two GPU’s mounted in 13.5-inch board. This will force to be fitted to the largest computer cases available on the market. Good thing, this card is said to be an engineering sample so this massive size could change before its official market introduction. This card will need both a 6-pin and 8-pin power adapter --obviously will leech enormous power on the PSU.

Apparently, AMD has forced the site that leaked the images to pull the performance data sheet from the post. This will only give us the idea that ATI HD 5970 is on the final phase of design and testing but you can be assured that I will be giving you its availability details and specifications when this new graphics card is made official.

Images courtesy of AlienBabelTech.com:

World’s Fastest Solar Car

Yes we’re not talking about those powerful sports cars but those nature-friendly solar-cars. It was a 3000km solar-car race that has been won by the Japanese team, giving an upset to four time Dutch champion. See the car above, it’s the winning piece.

Despite the flat tire, Tokai Challenger claim the World Championship completing the race in 29 hours and 49 minutes approximately with an average of 101km/h. Considering the Dutch team’s 29 hours and 11 minutes back in 2005, it is not the best time but considering some natural changes and conditions in a year to year basis this might have affected the race in a long run.

Case-Mate Recession iPhone Case Photo Contest

The one we featured as the cheapest iPhone 3G/3GS case, yes at $0.99 the totally affordable has been a “hot seller”. And to mark its huge success, case-mate is holding a Recession Case Photo Contest.

You can join the contest just by adding your own artistic touch on the case, take a picture and upload it on the Recession Case Photo Contest website. The picture with the most votes will receives the Grand Prize of a vintage 1982 Suzuki FA50 moped, while the runner’s up will have a shopping spree in Case-mate store.

Apparently, I know you don’t like to ride a vintage motorcycle in street of L.A., but I mean displaying it on your house is not a bad idea. You can hang it on your ceiling, how about that? However, if you will win as a runner up, iPhone case is definitely a good gift this Holiday.

Well if you have the recession case why not try to join the contest, most when you have bought the 10-case bundle. And also if you don’t have, you can purchase one on case-mate or download their plans of building one of your own.

Apple TV 3.0 announced supports iTunes Extra and LP and internet radio

This was the thing brought up to me by the collaboration of Wired and iFixit to hold a contest to do “teardowns” of Sony gadgets.

Maybe you’re thinking why waste time dissecting those gadgets? Simply, “to learn more about the nature of technology, engineering and industrial design” and mainly learn its hidden secrets by digging inside its internal parts. Crafty gadgets just don’t tell by the way it looks, rather that what components it has inside.

“To celebrate teardown culture, we hosted a contest in collaboration with teardown company iFixit, and 19 people participated (20, if you include a hilariously failed attempt). The rules were simple: Disassemble a Sony gadget, take photos of each step, and post the results.”

According to Wired, they picked Sony because the company told iFixit that it doesn’t like its products to be torn apart publicly which sounds to be more challenging. In addition, Sony products are labeled to have that decent design and technology.

To make it sweeter, iFixit will be handling winners into two categories with: a PS3 Slim for “Best Overall Teardown,” and a PSP Go for “Most Creative Teardown,” While there so much to stay here, head on this link to see some of I can say truly impressive and delightful teardowns and also likely to see the winners.

Motorola Droid hands-on review, too hot to handle

Hit on the continue link for the summary point of the review and take some time watching the video above.

According to the review here are some of the points you would like to know:

Google Nagivation is an incredible addition to the Android family and looks great. The standalone Nav app guys need to worry.

The hardware is quite nice. The keyboard is spacious and easy to slide open.

There are none of the widgets that MotoBlur featured prominently including the Twitter widget that threatened to crash the phone.

The phone is very polished but the base of installed applications seems very sparse. After working with the Hero and the Cliq, you sort of expect all sorts of silly clocks and social networking apps. This has none of that.

It has the best start-up sound in the whole world.

Best Windows 7 Guide –complete anything you need to know

Lenovo’s mighty swing includes the intros of new all-in-one B500, Core-i7 Y550P IdeaPad, ultra-portables U550, U150, U350 and S10-2. Hit on the continue link for more details and some pictures.

The all-in-one PC B500 combines multimedia and gamer-centric in a robotic and stylish look. This new machine will feature Core 2 Quad, a dedicated GPU, 23-inch 1080p display, 1TB of storage capacity, along with JBL speaker system and motion remote. Unfortunately the B500 price is still unspecified yet.

Although the B500 is said to be a gamer-centric all-in-one the ultra-portable IdeaPad Y550P rules to be Lenovo’s fastest notebooks. The Y550P runs Core-i7 quad-core with dedicated NVIDIA video graphics support, with 15.6-inch screen display and virtual surround playing a role as multimedia portables too. Measuring same 15.6-inch but running Core 2 Duo, IdeaPad U550 is new that takes the concepts of ultra-portables with only 0.94 inches thick while still fitting a DVD burner.

Now let’s move on with energy efficient portables from Lenovo with its CULV-based U150. The U150 will feature 11.6-inch LCD, a 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo and a 250GB hard drive. This unit has been already out for U.S release. While, we have some updates on U350 and S10-2 that both now runs Windows 7 with new organic lid patterns, such as brown leather on the U350 or pseudo-modern floral textures on the S10-2.

Rounding up the decent Lenovo line-up is Core 2 Quad IdeaCentre K300 with optional drives in RAID arrays and a unique hardware power toggle to throttle back the system and save energy. K300 price is still unknown but its sibling H230 is available for $299 giving budget-conscious consumer an entry point.

Probably all systems will make its availability visible and mostly more details on the options and specifications will come.

Gallery:

<img style="cursor: pointer; According to Japanese financial newspaper Nikkei, Nintendo is readying their revamped version of DSi with major 4 inches screen size update.

If this will be true, the new version will have ¾ of an inch larger than the current version of the portable console. Nintendo has to do this change due to reportedly user feedback about the problem with the smaller screen of DSi.

While still we don’t hear when or if this new DSi will hit the North American shore, the updated DSi is said to be on the Japanese market later this year at ¥18,900 ($205 USD).

Frankly, I would love to see a larger screen DSi, than this supposed update would have. Hopefully Nintendo will maximize the area on top flip of the console. Maybe a laptop-like design that the flip top is the whole screen display, ditching the two speaker holes at the side. Now Nintendo, can you hear us?

Sony PS3 gets Netflix Movie Streaming enabled

If you will look closely this was a direct assault for the Xbox 360 hit Netflix offering that has been taking some decent numbers on the sales chart for a while now.

Instantly, the streamed movies from Netflix via the Sony PS3 system will be enabled by a free instant streaming Blu-ray disc that is being made available to all Netflix members. Netflix members need to slide the disc into their PS3 systems to reveal movies and TV episodes that can be watched instantly. The free instant streaming disc leverages Blu-ray's BD-Live technology to access the Internet and activate the Netflix user interface on the PS3 system, which must be online via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

This Netflix movie streaming service is supposed to be launched this November.
Netflix members and PS3 system owners can now reserve a free instant streaming disc for PS3 systems by going to http://www.netflix.com/ps3.

To need a Blu-ray disc to use Netflix is a bit hassle, but on the other hand you do not need to pay an online subscribition fee like on the Xbox 360, where you need to be a Xbox LIVE Gold member ($49.99/year) is I think still a sweet deal to have.

ITU Approved Universal Cell Charger

These phone chargers can contribute to an extent of waste up to 51,000 tons a year according to Gizmodo. This seems to be a very relevant for economic and environmental consideration if the phone’s charger will be standardized. Apparently, this problem could be on the resolution stage as the United Nation's International Telecommunication Union gave there approval to an "energy efficient one-charger-fits-all" mobile charging solution.

Last June, we have posted the moved about this standardization that have agreed by almost all major mobile phone manufacturers around the world. The implementation of a standard microUSB charger solution has been on the process for EU and this was also what GSM Association has been studying.

ITU hopes for a 2012 full implementation of this standard, like was EU continent-wide standardization moving on now. Apparently we don’t heard U.S. taking some action yet with this standardization, but probably there is no good reason not to join this plan.

How to Upgrade Windows Vista to Windows 7

Today what we have here is how to do a fairly easy installation in-place upgrade from Vista to Windows 7.

The in-place upgrade works when you have a Vista Home Premium you can upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium same with other flavors of Professional and Ultimate versions. Apparently, besides from that, like when you do Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional this will requires the hassle of clean installations.

Anyways head on CNET, to see the complete details of the upgrade process. I would also suggest a clean installation like what some computer experts think, so you could have a fresh system that works better, otherwise just do the no-hassle upgrade with no possible data loss and re-installation of your old applications.

Monster Cable announces Limited Editions Miles Davis headphones
