The Bench in Need of a Makeover

Oh, my. It's been a looooong time since I've done a project. Life has been a whirlwind the past few years. In fact, I hadn't realized that it has been nearly 3 years since I found this bench on Craigslist.

As you can see the front side is in need of some major TLC. I want to keep/use the original tacks, but I'll have to figure out a plan for the fabric.

Luckily, the back still has the original leather. I plan to lave that untouched.

The original metal tag shows that is was made by the

Milwaukee Chair Co. for the Northwestern Furniture Co.

The lines of the bench are great. Clean lines with a bit of curve.

59 inches long, 36 high, and 29 deep.

Both the wood finish and the seat (which is split from one end to the other) will need some major attention. I hope I'm up for the challenge. {insert nail biting emoji here}

What kind of projects have you been working on recently?

Anyone have recommendations for how to deal with the wood?

Hope all is well out there in Blogland. I've been off on all kinds of adventures and have more on the horizon. These are a few photos from the Spring 2017 Duluth Junk Hunt. It's always a fun place with great vendors and amazing finds.

This squirrel caught my eye. Specifically, because of Debbie@Talking Trash. For those of you that know Debbie, you've already thought of her before reading these words. Squirrel! For those of you that don't know Debbie, you should. Pop on over to her blog and find out more.

I was all gaga over this solid iron street sign from England.

Cotton. Florals. Metal. Nuff said.

This figure caught my eye. I wasn't sure what materials was used to make it, but her patina and form were beautiful.

Hello, my friends! Yes, I'm still here, Since I haven't posted for a long while, several of you contacted me to make sure that I was okay. Thank you, dear hearts! I appreciate you caring!

I apologize for the cryptic post way back in August...and no follow up since then! Oddly enough, when I wrote that post, I was all hyped up about getting healthy and having some major external changes. I had been working with a health coach and feeling great!

But the changes didn't stop there. While things had changed over the summer, the real changes didn't even begin until that post. What do I mean by that? Well, things started to go internal...mentally, emotionally, spiritually. I felt the need to dive into some difficult questions, like "What is my purpose?" and all that deep stuff! I decided that I needed to prioritize myself and put other non-essentials to the back burner for a while. The adventure was calling, and I had to go. Do you know what I mean?

When you go for real, authentic healing, it is a life-altering experience. More than that, it is a series of life-altering experiences. And it's a bit of a roller coaster. For me, it has been a season of self-awareness, self-discovery, self-acceptance, and self-empowerment. I am not the same person I was last year, last month, or even last week. I truly feel that something beautiful is on the horizon. I can't help but seek it out.

Have any of you ever had a life journey like this? How did you grow from it? What beauty did you find?

Hey, sweeties! Let begin by telling you...I've been on an adventure. Oh, yes, I've traveled a bit this summer, but I'm talking about that kind of adventure. I'm talking about real adventure. Life changing adventure. Transformational adventure! Like top-5-best-thing-ever-in-my-life adventure!! It's been so amazing, that I can't wait to tell you. But I must wait. But not too long!

In the meantime, while you're stewing away at home wondering "what could it be?," I'm going to leave you with some cryptic hints about what I'm about to announce.

We had a lot of fun planning our kitchen renovation. We ultimately went with the Martha Stewart Line of cabinetry at Home Depot. Home Depot had a 10% sale going on and Martha Stewart had discounts for if you spent a certain amount. We love the quality, and they have a lot of great options that make the cabinets works so well. One example is the pull-out drawer feature. Love! Here are some more features we love...

In our kitchen renovation, we replaced the lighted upper cabinets and lower base cabinets with two 96" tall pantry cabinets. A Little Paint, A Little Spackle asked "Do you miss that counter space?" Great question! Here's my answer...
