MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA—It’s going to be Ghost Time at the Apollo.

On August 29, the world of the paranormal will descend upon The Apollo Civic Theater in Martinsburg as APG Conferences produces the inaugural Eastern Panhandle Paranormal Conference. Some of the top names in the field, as well as a number of local paranormal authorities, will be on hand to share their knowledge with others who have in interest in all things supernatural.

“Our goal is to bring paranormal exposure to areas that have not had an opportunity to meet others with an interest in the supernatural,” said Anthony Atha, founder of APG Conferences LLC.

The event will be an all-day affair, with doors opening at 9 a.m. Shawn Kelly of Pittsburgh Paranormal Society will open the conference at 10 a.m. with his presentation, “Do Spirits Exist?” Sharon Kincaid of Southern Atlantic Paranormal will then discuss techniques on “Improving the Study of the Paranormal.” She’ll be followed by Vince Wilson, one of the paranormal field’s most technologically-savvy minds, who will discuss applied science in ghost hunting.

After a lunch break, Rie Sadler of Eastern Paranormal Research will discuss historic haunts of the Old Line State, and she’ll be followed by presentations from Joey Ward of West Georgia Paranormal Research Society and Russ Noratel the Baltimore Society of Paranormal Research. Susan Sheppard, a psychic medium who has been featured on such television programs as ABC Family’s “Scariest Places on Earth,” will then take the stage, followed by a lecture entitled “The Re-Haunting of Gettysburg,” by John Sabol, the “Ghost Excavator” seen recently on A&E’s “Paranormal State.”

Later that evening, the event will conclude with a Victorian Séance and Message Circle led by Sheppard.

Judge hits Morris County UFO hoaxers with fines, community service

Municipal Judge Michael Carlucci fined Chris Russo, 29, of Morris Plains, and Joe Rudy, 28, of Chester, $250 each and sentenced the two to 50 hours of community service for creating a disturbance.

The two Morris County men who staged a series of UFO hoaxes earlier this year were brought down to Earth in Morris Plains municipal court today.

Mexico: State of Chihuahua Terrorized by “Man-Bat”

According to information supplied by Ing. Francisco Prieto Torres, residents of La Junta, Guerrero (Chihuahua) have reported the appearance of a “Man-Bat”.

They describe it as a very tall entity, standing some 2 meters tall, with two pairs of wings (one pair larger than the other). Its face is covered in fur and has red, bloodshot eyes. Also reported are a pair of small, kangaroo type hands that it held loosely, as though it lacked any strength in them.

THE DULCE BASE: FACT OR FICTION?
Conference and Public Forum to be held in Dulce, New Mexico on March 29, 2009

DULCE, NEW MEXICO – Eye witnesses, law enforcement officers and paranormal investigators will all meet at a conference in Dulce, New Mexico on March 29 to discuss long-standing rumors of a secret, underground, joint UFO/alien/U.S. government biological laboratory and base in the area. Norio Hayakawa, a retired funeral director and UFO researcher, is hosting the conference at the Best Western Jicarilla Inn in Dulce. His intent is to prove, once and for all, that these rumors are unfounded.

According to Hayakawa, stories began to circulate in the mid-1970s when area residents witnessed “strange lights in the sky” and when ranchers reported mysterious cattle mutilations and frequent sightings of military helicopters. The rumors intensified in 1980 when Paul Bennewitz, who was then the president of Thunder Scientific Labs adjacent to Kirtland Air Force Base, reported his experiences with aliens. Bennewitz claimed that extraterrestrials were controlling humans through electromagnetic devices, that an alien craft crashed near Dulce, that UFOs were regularly flying near Kirtland, the nearby Manzano Nuclear Weapons Storage Facility and Coyote Canyon Test Area, and that aliens were transmitting signals to him from a base under Archuleta Mesa.

One of the speakers at the conference will be Greg Bishop, who thoroughly investigated the Bennewitz claims in his book Project Beta. Other conference participants include noted UFO expert Dennis Balthaser, cattle-mutilation investigator Chris O’Brien, talk-show host and conspiracy theorist Anthony J. Hilder, UFO skeptic Russel Erby, and exopolitics and disclosure activist Dr.. Michael Salla. “However,” Hayakawa said, “the principal focus of the conference will be with local residents, ranchers and law enforcement officers who will testify about their personal experiences.”

Interest in the conference and the decades-long rumor of a Dulce base are high. “The UFO Hunters,” a popular History Channel television show, recently visited Dulce to interview residents and research facts about the purported Dulce base. “Because of the History Channel investigation, the townsfolk of Dulce are very much aware of the conference,” said Hayakawa. “For the first time, some of the residents may come forward at the conference to speak without fear of ridicule.”

Skeptical of the claims and rumors himself, Hayakawa is convinced there could be prosaic explanations to both the UFO sightings and cattle mutilations, and looks forward to the conference providing a resolution of the matter. “There has not been any physical evidence whatsoever that there is such a base in or near Dulce,” Hayakawa asserted. “However,” he admitted, “when it comes to UFOs, many of the residents there are believers.”

The one-day conference, open to the public, will start at 10:00 am and will conclude at 3:00 pm.. Admission is $5 at the door. The conference will include an open public forum during which the public will be given an opportunity to report their experiences and express their opinions.

Whispers will be on from 6 to 7 PM today due to a hockey championship being broadcast on WKKX.

Talk show host Tod Jeffers, the host of “Jeffers and Company” on AM 1600 WKKX, passed away at his home in Wheeling, according to morning show host John Blackmore.

He was 67.

Jeffers passed just nine days after his good friend and colleague George Kellas lost a battle with cancer on February 19.

Jeffers lived alone at his home in Wheeling with his two parrots.

He was a big Penn State fan and was once the voice of Penn State men’s basketball and wrestling.

Jeffers’ radio career spanned five decades. He once worked at what used to be known as WHLL, now WKKX.

The cause of death is still unknown, although we’re told, he had a history of heart problems.

Visitation is Wednesday from two to four and six to eight at Grisell Funeral Home on 400 Jefferson Avenue in Moundsville.

Services are set for Thursday at four in the afternoon.

Legendary Broadcaster Kellas Passes Away

Legendary broadcaster George Kellas lost a battle with cancer.

He was 53 and passed away at his home in Wheeling with his family by his side.

Kellas worked as an anchor / reporter for WTRF 7 in Wheeling from 1984 through 1994.

Kellas most recently hosted the afternoon show at AM 1600 WKKX, The Valley’s Watchdog. A Wheeling-based station he helped start and get on the air with owner and good friend Bob Fitzsimmons.

Kellas loved high school football in the Ohio Valley and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was also a bit of a dog lover and loved greyhound racing at Wheeling Island.

Kellas also owned the Ohio Valley Greyhounds indoor football team which won back-to-back National Indoor Football League Championships in 2002 and 2003.

Kellas leaves behind countless fans, viewers and listeners, as well as his wife Sherri and three children. His son George is 13 years old and an 8th grader a Triadelphia Middle School. He also has twins, Lydia and Max, who are seven-year old first graders at Steenrod.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Kepner Funeral Home .

Visitation is Sunday and Monday from two to four and six to eight at 166 Kruger Street in Elm Grove.

The funeral service is set for Tuesday at 11 am at St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church in Wheeling.

Plains Cree and French Canadian author and webmaster Stephane Wuttunee experienced a spiritual awakening in 1991 at age 22. Whispers Radio Forum

I could post it, but I don’t wish to irk people with extremely bad audio (past audios could at least be understood, though being low quality). Well, this has two talk shows  sharing the same space. I apologize to our listeners and to Keith Ranville who we will have to have back on eventually to make up for this.

Currently we have been depending on my PC to record. We have twice now had issues with Adobe not being able to load the ASAPI.dll, an important part when recording. Next week we will be starting to bring Jordan’s Apple to use GarageBand and my PC to record probably via Audacity. I’m irritated with Audition and irritated with so much bad luck with recording. Needless to say, I am in a bad mood today.  I guess this is the issue with recording live!

Anyone have any advice? To record this I pretty much use a patch cord to connect straight into the same port we hook our headphones into. I have figured out most of the issues we’ve had, but anything else that would help is welcomed.

Also, I’m considering adding a forum. Would anyone be interested?
