One of the biggest names is 410 sprint car racing, Jac Haudenschild of Wooster, Ohio confirmed today that they plan to be at the Keystone Cup 410 Sprint Speed Week Series open at the Grandview Speedway on Wednesday night, May 23. Haudenschild last won on the “hill” in May of 1995 when he was competing in a World of Outlaws event at the one-third mile oval. Haudenschild will have his hands full with the best of the Pennsylvania Posse to include Fred Rahmer, Lance Dewease, Greg Hodnett, Brian Leppo and Brent Marks. The 410 sprints will compete in time trials and a series of qualifying events leading up to the $5,000 to win 35 lap feature event.

To add even more luster to an already shimmering event, the popular 358 Modifieds will battle in heat race events, a consolation and the 25 lap $3,000 to win BPG feature event. Duane Howard, Jeff Strunk, Craig Vondohren, Billy Pauch Jr., Richie Pratt, Ryan Godown and Doug Manmiller are just some of the big hitters looking for the win.

On Wednesday night, May 23, gates will open at 5 PM with race time set for 7:30 PM. This is the 2012 NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series season opener and will mark the 103rd Thunder Series event.

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. — May 19, 2012 — Like they did in the ‘70s and ‘80s and ‘90s, Steve Kinser and Sammy Swindell are battling for a World of Outlaws championship.

Swindell, who leads the series with four victories, has been in or around the points lead since the start of the season. Kinser has gotten hot recently and capitalized on the momentum.

He snapped a 27-race winless streak exactly a week ago and added to an impressive record on Saturday at Orange County Fair Speedway, where Kinser won for the sixth time in 22 features, claimed career Outlaws victory No. 572 and pulled into a tie atop the World of Outlaws championship standings with Swindell.

“It’s nothing that hasn’t happened many years before,” Kinser said of his renewed rivalry with Swindell.

Kinser led all 25 laps of the main event at the 5/8-mile oval, which has featured a different winner in the past six World of Outlaws events dating back to 1999. However, Kinser is a familiar face in Victory Lane.

He claimed the first race at Orange County Fair Speedway in 1983 and won five more within a decade. After starting on the pole on Saturday, it appeared that his sixth victory – which is twice as many as any other driver – was eminent.

Kinser rocketed to a 10-car advantage in front of son, Kraig Kinser, on the opening lap. The duo paced the field with Kraig beginning to close the gap on lap five. They entered traffic on the ninth lap and were side by side on the frontstretch of lap 10.

The elder maintained the lead and the preferred lane around the bottom. The race went cautionless until lap 21 when it became just the opposite.

There were eight cautions and a red flag for a fuel stop in the final five laps. In fact, only three drivers of the 24 starters weren’t involved in a caution or didn’t pull into the pits.

“I was up front where I could be a little bit easier on tires,” Kinser said. “I nursed mine as much as I could. We just barely made it ourselves.

“It’s a bad feeling when you’re sitting there leading the race and you’re seeing half the field change tires and put new tires on ….”

Kraig Kinser was one of the catastrophes as a tire issue on the final lap dropped him from the runner-up position to 15th. That allowed Swindell to gain a few positions in the final laps to salvage a second-place finish and keep himself tied for the points lead.

“When we took off I could see that guys were just slipping the tires way too much,” Swindell said. “This place is real abrasive, so I just sat back there and rode for half the race. I just wanted to make sure I had tires at the end.”

Frank Cozze earned the KSE Hard Charger Award after maneuvering from last – 24th – to place third.

“Well we got a little bit of luck out there with the guys with the tires,” he said. “Plus I’ve probably raced here about 35 or 36 years, so I kinda know the place. You’ve gotta kind of cool it at the beginning and get lucky. And we got lucky. If it had run straight through we would have run 15th.

“It feels pretty good to get a podium finish with anybody. I don’t care if it was Mickey Mouse at this point.”

Daryn Pittman rebounded from causing a caution on a restart of lap 22 because of a tire issue. He restarted 19th and finished fourth. David Gravel rounded out the top five after facing a similar fate because of a flat tire with three laps remaining.

Joey Saldana was sixth, Fred Rahmer seventh, Paul McMahan eighth, Craig Dollansky ninth and Lucas Wolfe placed 10th. All went to the work area at some point during those final five laps to fix a flat tire.

Logan Schuchart set fast time in qualifying with a lap of 17.336 seconds, which was more than four-tenths quicker than anyone else. Swindell outlasted Steve Kinser to win the first heat race and Kraig Kinser and McMahan also claimed a heat race. Davey Franek won the Last Chance Showdown.

Ryan Godown Wins Thriller at New Egypt

New Egypt, NJ (May 19, 2012) – Ryan Godown of Ringoes, NJ won his second feature of the season at New Egypt Speedway Saturday night winning the 30 lap main event on Banner night sponsored by Buhler Auto Group. Godown passed Billy Pauch Jr. for the lead with just two laps remaining to pick up his 16th career win at the facility.

John Stangle grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag and immediately pulled away from the field in impressive fashion. Billy Pauch Jr. charged up to second as he and Dave Witte tried to keep pace with Stangle. A lap eight caution bunched the field up, however Stangle was just as impressive on the restart as he again opened up a half of a straightaway lead. Point leader Ryan Godown took advantage of this restart as he powered from 11th to 6th in one lap showing everyone that he was going to figure into the outcome. Godown marched to third by the halfway mark as he began to challenge Pauch Jr. for second while Billy Pauch moved into fifth after starting 15th. With 10 laps to go Pauch Jr. and Godown were beginning to close in on Stangle who was driving the race of his life, catching the leader with 6 laps to go. The ensuing battle brought the crowd to their feet Godown used the low groove and Pauch Jr. rim rode the outside around Stangle in what became a two lap 3-wide battle for the lead! Pauch Jr. finally wrestled the lead away from Stangle on lap 26 but Godown got by Stangle as well and quickly pulled back up along side of him as they approached the beginning of lapped traffic. With just two laps remaining Godown edged in front of Pauch Jr. as they ran side by side all the way around the speedway. The final lap saw Pauch Jr. make one final hard charge into turn one getting him back up alongside of Godown again only to have his right rear tire shred as he exited turn number two. The race was not quite over though as John McClelland had been charging thru the top ten over the second half of the race and had just snuck up on the two leaders. He kept the pressure on Godown’s back bumper to the finish but just ran out of time settling for second. Stangle finished third recording his best finish to date at NES, while Willie Osmun and Billy Pauch rounded out the top five. Pauch Jr. drove around the outside to the finish with his flat tire and was still able to cross the line in ninth.

Of the 25 cars that started the event, 23 finished with 22 of them on the lead lap!

John Aumick of Highland Lakes, NJ continued his fast start winning his third event of 2012 in the Crate-1 Sportsman 20 lap feature. Aumick passed race long leader Mike Carman with 5 laps remaining and then held off a fast closing Jordan Henn for the victory. Henn finished second while rookie Carman held on for his best finish ever in third. Jordan Cox was fourth and Felix Verlangieri came from deep in the pack to finish fifth.

The Tri-State Race Saver 305 Sprint Series also came down to the final lap, as Kyle Purks of Langhorne, PA ducked under leader Mike Haggenbottom in turn two and then held on despite one last hard outside run by Haggenbottom for his first ever win at New Egypt Speedway. Haggenbottom was second while Eddie Wagner brought his mount home in third. Jonathan Swanson and Brian Carber were fourth and fifth respectively.

Jesse Dill of Whiting, NJ took top honors in the HCI/Spike-N-Go Rookie Sportsman feature event for the third time. Kimee Ling came home in second while Lauren Emmons was third.

In the twin Fastrak Late Model 12-lap features, Rob Ormsbee of Wall, NJ swept both ends of the event for the third straight time. The first 12 lap event Ormsbee survived the caution filled event beating Tony Giglio and Skip Syester. The second event Ormsbee handled easily besting PJ Oliver and Giglio.

Next Saturday May 26th New Egypt Speedway will be celebrating Memorial Day weekend with a tribute to the military and the fan favorite Twin 20 lap features for the Modifieds, all sponsored by Joy Auto Parts. The winner’s purse from last week’s Modified feature that was withheld from Billy Pauch due to his DQ for a technical infraction, was equally split up and added to the winner’s share for these twin 20 lap events. They will now each pay a cool $2662 to win! Joining the Modifieds on the card will be the Sportsman, the HCI/SpikenGo Rookies and the Outlaw Stocks. JESSE HILL PULLS OFF A THRILLING RIDE FOR HIS FIRST CAREER BIG BLOCK MODIFIED WIN AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY

Swedesboro, NJ (May 20, 2012) - On Scout Night at Bridgeport Speedway, Jesse Hill pulled off a thrilling ride to win his first career Big Block Modified feature race. Travis Hill bested the field in the Crate Sportsmen event. Jeff Dirkes scored the checkered flag in the Outlaw Stock Car contest.

Several cautions including one red flag incident involving the original leader, Corey Andersen, marred the early stages of the 30-lap Big Block Modified feature. Once action did get underway cleanly, Mike Franz briefly led the contest before Brian Kressley took control on lap 2 with Rick Laubach in second. By the third circuit, Ryan Watt had advanced into third. With multiple grooves available for the competitors, Kressley chose the lower lane with a fast closing Laubach using the outside line. As a battle was about to start for the top spot, Jim Bobbitt’s car stopped on the frontstretch on lap 7 bringing out the final yellow flag of the event. When racing resumed, Kressley and Laubach waged a good battle for the lead with Laubach coming out on top with eight revolutions completed. On lap 9, Jesse Hill edged by Watt to gain third place and began to reel in Kressley for second. With Laubach pulling away, Kressley and Hill tussled for the runner-up spot for several laps before Hill took over the position on the twelfth tour. At the midway point, Laubach had more than a half-straightaway advantage over Hill. By lap 18, Hill was beginning to cut into Laubach’s comfortable lead. The top two of Laubach and Hill began to encounter lap traffic by lap 22 with Hill quickly diminishing the gap. One tour later, Laubach and Hill were side by side and Hill scooted by to take the lead with six laps to go. Still passing slower cars with five circuits remaining, Laubach began to track down Hill. On lap 27, Hill gained some breathing room after clearing by fellow competitor. As the white flag waved, Hill and Laubach were in still in tight quarters. On the final circuit on the third turn, Hill stayed low while Laubach kept high in passing a slower rival. As the checkered flag waved, it was Hill on top over Laubach. Kressley came home in third with Watt taking fourth. Brett Ballard’s strong run resulted in a fifth place finish. Ballard and Watt were victors in the Big Block Modified heats.

After taking the lead on the fifth tour, Travis Hill dominated the rest of the 20-lap Crate Sportsmen contest for his second consecutive victory. Brett Kelly led the opening lap with Ricky DiEva taking over on the second circuit. Brett Kressley led the next two laps prior to Hill’s ascension to the top spot. Second place went to Kressley. Ryan Anderson came on strong in the final laps to wind up in third. Matt Budd and Tommy Beamer completed the top five. Crate Sportsmen qualifying events were won by Brad Roberts and Ryan Anderson.

In the 15-lap Outlaw Stock Car feature, Jeff Dirkes survived a restart with two circuits remaining to gain his third win of the year. Terry Griffin was second with Jeremy Doerr taking third. Bob Hopely and Ron Dirkes filled out the top five. Jimmy Hughes and Ron Dirkes won the Outlaw Stock Car heat races.

For the entire month of June, adult admission on Saturdays will be reduced to $15 with students between the ages of 13 and 17 being admitted for $12.

PANCZNER SCORES HIS SECOND CAREER WIN AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY

Swedesboro, NJ (May 19, 2012) – On Bridgeport Speedway’s inner dirt oval, Chris Panczner scored the win in the 600cc Micro-Sprint feature. Ryan Wozunk was victorious in the 270cc Micro-Sprint event with Justin Dunn winning the 4-Cylinder Enduro Car contest.

At the start of the 20-lap 600cc Micro-Sprint feature, polesitter Chris Panczner bolted to the front with Stephen Bracall in second. Following the last caution of the event on lap 3, Panczner was still on top. With five circuits completed, second place was now in the hands of Stephen Kemery. After a good battle for third place, Shane Lewis won the position from Lee Nardelli on the seventh tour. As the laps clicked off, the top three of Panczner, Kemery and Lewis began to separate themselves from the rest of the field. By the fourteenth circuit, the lead pack began to encounter slower running competitors. In the midst of heavy traffic with only two laps to go, Lewis was able to close in on Kemery. As the checkered flag waved, Panczner crossed the finish line in first after leading every tour of the race. Kemery held on for second with Lewis in third. Joe Kay came home in fourth and Nardelli finished in fifth. The winners of the 600cc Micro-Sprint qualifying events were Jeff Hartman, Tyler DeVault and Stephen Kemery. The consolation event was won by Tom Fraschetta.

In the 270cc Micro-Sprint main event, Ryan Wozunk led all twenty laps as he won his first career feature. Wozunk held off a hard charging Jeff Hartman in the final lap for the victory. Steve Coslop, Richie Keller and Nick Walton finished in order behind the top two of Wozunk and Hartman. Jeff Hartman and Charlie Lamanna were heat race victors in the 270cc Micro-Sprint class.

After taking the lead on lap 8, Justin Dunn bested the field in the 20-lap 4-Cylinder Enduro Car race for the second week in a row. Scott Dunn finished in second with the early pacesetter, Mike Dunn, winding up in third. John Gray and Art Knapp completed the top five.

MAURIELLO AND MANDATO WIN WALL STADIUM SPORTSMAN TWINS

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Young stock car racing stars Eric Mauriello of Howell and Jonathan Mandato of Jackson shared top honors at Wall Stadium Saturday night as each tasted victory in Sportsman division 25 lap main events. While it was Mauriello’s eighth career win and his second on the young season, Mandato’s victory was his first ever win in full size stock car competition.

In the first 25-lapper Charlie Kremer III of Toms River raced to the lead early as Mauriello started his run from sixth. By halfway Mauriello was the runner-up and immediately looked for a path into the lead. Mauriello’s winning move came with 18 laps complete as he drove to the outside lane and into the lead. Mauriello raced on to the win with Kremer second, Holmdel’s Andrew Krause third, Shawna Ingraham of Brick fourth and Howell’s Elliott Wohl fifth.

“It was hard getting around the No. 77 in the high groove tonight,” Mauriello said. “It was real slick out there so I need the car to be perfect. Tonight it was perfect.”

In the second Sportsman 25-lapper Mandato raced to the lead early and never looked back. Brick’s Robert Sutphin was his early challenger before Wohl took over runner-up honors in the late going. Ingraham, Willingboro’s Trevor Alspach and Krause completed the top five. Mauriello was out of this race early has his car hammered the fourth turn rail on lap 12. He was not injured.

“This car was wrecked pretty badly a couple of weeks ago,” Mandato, a former Quarter Midget racer, said. “Thanks to my family and crew it is perfect again. What has been a pretty bad season so far just got a lot better.”

Scott Riggleman of Manchester scored his second win of the young season in the 25-lapper for the Factory Stocks. Riggleman chased early leader Ed Bischoff of Howell before racing into the lead with just three laps to go. Bischoff crossed the finish line second, but failed a post race inspection. That moved Lakewood’s Paul Hartwig to second, while Brick’s Ronnie Mullen and Troy Gant were third and fourth and Andrew Krause was fifth.

Jackson’s Howie Conk raced into the lead on the ninth lap and went on to win the 25-lapper for the Street Stocks. It was the third win of the season for the defending division champion. Nick Shaw of Chatham, Bayville’s Mike Tillett, Jerry Stanzione of Keansburg and Jack Saygh of South Toms River wrapped up the top five. The race was stopped on lap seven when Holmdel’s Dominic Casola spun across the track and slammed a concrete barrier in the infield. Although the damage to his car was severe, he complained only about a sore foot.

Ryan Tidman of Levittown, Pa. took the lead on the eighth lap and raced on to win the 25-lapper for the touring TQ Midgets. Jon Gambuti of Allison Cummins, Buddy Sloed and Matt Roselli completed the top five finishers.

Wall Stadium roars back into action this Saturday night (May 26) with the Factory Stocks in the Memorial Day weekend spotlight in a 50-lap main event. The Modifieds will return for a 40-lap main event, while the Legend Cars and Street Stocks will also see action. The restored vintage racecars of the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club will also be on hand. The Sportsman cars have the night off.

Pit gates will open at 2:00 p.m.; with practice starting at 3:30 p.m. Grandstands will open at 5:00 p.m. and the first qualifying event takes the green flag at 6:00 p.m. Main events are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

HOWARD WINS FOURTH, WHITMOYER GETS SECOND WIN, LILICK SECOND WIN AND PFEIL WINS FIRST AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA May 20, 2012 . . . For the fourth time this season Duane Howard was able to charge to victory in the NASCAR 358 Modified feature race, a 30 lapper, on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway. In the companion events Wayne Pfeil earned his first 20-lap Late Model feature win since 2009 while Craig Whitmoyer and Bob Lilick won 25-lap Sportsman feature races for the second time this season.
The “Big Three” battled for the victory in the Modified feature race with Howard comfortably in front at the finish after coming from 15th starting spot. Nine time champion Jeff Strunk finished second followed Craig VonDohren. All have been champions at the Berks County oval. Brad Missimer, an early leader, finish fourth while Mike Gular came from 20th to finish 5th. Howard picked a great night to win a feature as it was sponsored by BPG Racing, his car owner.
Wayne Pfeil led most of the laps to get his first win in three years at Grandview while Chuck Schutz put heavy pressure on in the closing laps to finish second. Jason Miller gained third followed by Ron Kline and Sean Merkel.
The first 25-lapper for the NASCAR Sportsman, a race rained out back on May 5th, was won by Whitmoyer coming on strong in the closing laps to take the win away from John Kovatch IV who had been the leader for several laps. Kyle Borrow finish third followed by Kenny Gilmore and Dave Dissinger.
For the second time this season Bob Lilick brought his unsponsored No. 53 home first in the 25-lap Sportsman feature. Paul Kline had a strong effort to grab second followed by Joe Funk, Whitmoyer and Tim Apgar.
Racing action returns to the one-third-mile, banked clay oval at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, May 26, 7:30 p.m. with a tripleheader show of NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman sponsored by Bashore Trucking. Modifieds run in a 30 lap feature while Late Models run a 20-lap feature and Sportsman top program off with a 25-lap feature. Adult admission is just $15 while youngsters 12 and under are admitted FREE.

POINT LEADER HOWARD WINS MOD FEATURE FOR 4TH TIME, PFEIL TOPS LATE MODELS, WHITMOYER AND LILICK WIN SECOND SPORTSMAN FEATURES OF THE SEASON AT GRANDVIEW

BECHTELSVILLE, PA May 20, 2012 . . . NASCAR Whelen All American Series 358 Modified point leader Duane Howard earned his fourth feature win of the season on Saturday topping the field in the 30-lap 358 Modified feature sponsored by his car owner BPG Racing at Grandview Speedway. In the 20-lap Late Model feature race Wayne Pfeil won for the first time since April 30, 2009. And in the two 25-lap Sportsman feature races Bob Lilick Jr. won the first one, the Mobil 1 Oil sponsored event left from a May 5th rainout and it was Craig Whitmoyer winning the second feature. Close to 100 race cars took part in the night of racing action.
In the first event of the night Corey Sechrist set the early pace and held the top spot in the 25-lap Mobil 1 Sportsman feature race until the midway point when Bobby Lilick charged to the front. A four car tangle at the 15-lap marker closed up the field but Lilick was able to hold the top spot. A caution at 20 laps allowed the field the close up on the leader once again but Lilick again held off all challengers. At the finish Lilick (Plymouth Meeting) had his unsponsored No. 53 in front as the checkered flag fell. Second spot went to Paul Kline (Muhlenburg Park) followed by Joe Funk ( Coopersburg), Craig Whitmoyer (Hamburg) and Tim Apgar (Flemington, NJ).
Wayne Pfeil took the lead at the drop of the green and led all the laps with his J&H Automotive sponsored No. 72 to win the 20-lap Late Model feature race in a close down to the wire challenge from current Late Model point leader Chuck Schutz (looking for his sixth Late Model title). The win for the Mohnton racer was his first since 2009. Chuck Schutz (Pottstown) held on for second spot. Jason Miller (New Tripoli) had his strongest effort of the second gaining third followed by two feature winner Ron Kline (Salford) and Sean Merkel (Gilbertsville).

Former URC Sprint car racer Jason Clauss grabbed the lead at the start of the 30-lap NASCAR Whelen All American 358 Modified feature race. Kyle Follweiler stopped on the track bringing out the caution as he raced to the pits hoping to get back out before the green came out. Ray Swinehart jumped into the lead on the restart but just two laps later, with eight laps in the record book, Chris Esposito stopped on the track to bring out the caution once again. Both Esposito and Follweiler were able to continue.
At the nine lap marker it was Brad Missimer putting his Schaefer Motorsports No. 327 in front of the field.
Missimer set the pace until just five laps remained when Duane Howard, charging from 15th spot, took the lead with nine time champion Jeff Strunk, who had started 16th, chasing him.
Another stop on the track to bring out the caution had Doug Manmiller making a trip to the pits and setting up a battle for the top spot with 27 laps in the record book.
Howard, in the Blue Bell Air sponsored No. 4, led the field to the checkered flag. The Oley racer had a few car lengths of breathing room over second place finisher Jeff Strunk (Pottstown). Six time champion Craig VonDohren (Boyertown) finished third followed by Missimer (Bechtelsville) and Mike Gular (Green Lane) who had started in 20th spot.
The first couple laps of the final event of the night, a second 25-lap feature for the Sportsman stock cars, had Erik Renninger leading. On the third lap of the feature John Kovatch IV went to the front. Kenny Gilmore got to the front briefly and then gave the top spot back to Kovatch. At the halfway mark Kovatch continued to set the pace with Kyle Borrow nipping on his rear bumper.
In the closing laps Brian Hirthler spun causing a caution that closed the field up behind the leader and on the restart Craig Whitmoyer, who had went to the rear earlier in the race, charged to the front. The Hamburg racer was able to bring his RoadRunner Racing Fuels sponsored No. 99 home first with John Kovatch IV holding on for second spot. Kyle Borror (Peach Bottom) finished third followed by Kenny Gilmore (Fleetwood) and Dave Dissinger (Hamburg).
All four feature winners collected cash bonuses from TP Trailers of Limerick, PA for carrying the TP decals clearly visible on both sides of the car. Each feature winner also picked up two dinners courtesy of Texas Roadhouse Restaurant of Trexlertown, PA.
Dan’s Deli Halfway Leader Awards were earned by the leaders of each feature race at the halfway mark and the 10th place finisher in each feature took home $50 gift certificates from Cargo Trailer Sales in Lansdale, PA.
Searock’s Lawn Care Sportsman Hard Charger Awards went to Craig Whitmoyer in the first Sportsman feature gaining 13 positions and did it again in the second Sportsman feature gaining 10 positions. Mike Gular earned the Bobby Gunther Walsh and Sponsors Hard Charger Award gaining 15 positions in the NASCAR 358 Modified feature. The Salvage Transport Hard Charger Award went to Chuck Schutz for going from 7th to 2nd in the Late Model feature.
Qualifying heat races, 12 laps each, for the NASCAR 358 Modifieds were won by Justin Grim, Addison Meitzler, Todd Smith and Ray Swinehart. The 10-lap Modified consolation races were won by Shawn Reimert and Terry Mietzler.
Three eight lap qualifying events for the Sportsman were won by John Kovatch IV, Corey Sechrist and Jared Umbenhauer. And it was Wayne Pfeil and Ron Kline winning the Late Model qualifiers.
Racing action returns to the one-third-mile, banked clay oval at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, May 26th, 7:30 p.m. with a tripleheader show of NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Late Models and Sportsman sponsored by Bashore Trucking. Modifieds run in a 30 lap feature while Late Models run a 20 lap feature and Sportsman top off the night with a 25-lap feature. Adult admission is just $15 while youngsters 12 and under are admitted FREE.

Dewease Scores For 80th Williams Grove Win, Westhafer For 1st In 358s

Mechanicsburg, PA –Lance Dewease of Fayetteville won for the 80th time in his sprint car career at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night, taking the lead from Sheldon Haudenschild at the halfway point to pocket the victory in the Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint car division.

In the Tool Shed of America 358 sprints, Rodney Westhafer won at the oval for the first time in his career.

Dewease started sixth in the 25-lap 410 sprint main event while 18-year old Haudenschild started on the pole.

Haudenshild was smooth and straight, pounding the high cushion once he got going but saw his pace halted with six away when Cliff Brian flipped on the backstretch.

Curt Michael trailed Haudenshild for the restart with Dewease up to third.

Dewease disposed of Michael on the restart and pressured Haudenschild but the leader seemed unphazed by his attempts and instead pulled away from his challenger.

But his pace was again slowed with 12 away, this time for a blown left front on Rick Lafferty’s mount.

Dewease ducked low under Haudenschild for control when action resumed but Haudenschild didn’t give up easily, instead re-passing Dewease as the pair traversed the backstretch before Dewease dove low in turn three to take the lead for good.

Though Haudenschild hung tough for several laps, he had settled into second when the race slowed for a final time with seven laps left, this time for a blown left rear on Brent Marks’ machine.

Haudenschild proved to be a player all the way to the finish as Dewease jetted away at the new green with Fred Rahmer third, Danny Dietrich in fourth and Brian Moneith in fifth.

Rahmer relegated Haudenschild to third with five to go and a three-car battle for third developed all the way to the finish that saw the checkers and red flag fly simultaneously.

It was Dietrich who was challenging for third just after the white flag that got out of shape while trying to fend off a rebound by Haudenschild.

And as the pair crossed under the backstretch bridge, Dietrich got on the binders to avoid crashing which in turn sent Brian Montieth up over his tail tank and into a flip.

Rahmer ended up second followed by Haudenschild, Greg Hodnett and Michael.

Sixth through 10th went to 22nd starter Doug Esh, Aaron Ott, Alan Krimes, Logan Schuchart and Chad Layton.

Heats for the 31-car field went to Montieth, Michael and Dewease with Lafferty scoring the consolation race.

Westhafer started second in the 20-lap 358 sprint main and wired the field for the win, his first ever at Williams Grove.

He had to fend off the challenges of seventh starter Eric Tomecek over the final 10 laps as the Abbottstown speedster pressured after zooming up to second by the third circuit.

It was after Westhafer had encountered the rear of the field that Tomecek was really able to close but Westhafer played it smart in traffic to hold onto his win.

Brie Hershey came on in traffic late to sneak into second with Tomecek ending up third.

Jacob Allen was fourth and Amy Ott rounded out the top five.

Sixth through 10th went to Dale Hammaker, Adrian Shaffer, Pat Cannon, Nathan Berwager and Nate Hammaker.

Heats went to Cannon, Ott and Tomecek.

Williams Grove Speedway hosts the 6th annual Keystone Cup for 410 sprints on May 25 along with 305 sprints at fireworks at 7:30 pm.
