Indiegogo: The Lascaux Prize

I hope you will take a minute to look at a project I'm involved in.

For the last couple of years I've been working on a literary journal called The Lascaux Review with my editor-friend and crit partner Stephen Parrish. It's a wonderful place to hang out if you love literature and good writing.

We've run two flash fiction contests and have published some notable names in fiction, nonfiction and poetry.

Now we want to offer a chance to award a larger prize to writers of short fiction and we need help. So, we're raising funds through Indiegogo and getting the word out to see who can help us meet our goals. We have some great perks for people who donate. Those who can't donate for even the lowest perk, I hope will at least pass the word on to friends and family who will donate and help spread the word. Or put a widget on your page. Every little bit will help us meet our goal.

Check it out and watch the video. It's informative and fun and you might learn something cool in the three minutes that it plays. About literature, about the world, about history, about my passion.

Quite by accident I ran across the blog of Wendy Cebula, a writer in NYC.

I was on my iPhone and my big fat finger was trying to press one link when I accidentally pressed the "next blog" link instead. Usually that gets me to some crummy two-post blog that was abandoned three years ago, but this time it actually went from MY Wendy blog to HER Wendy blog!

And as if that coincidence is not enough the post I saw there was a guest post by Jen K. Blom who is a friend of Stephen Parrish who is also friends with me!

Wow, it's a small world.

New York born musician, Wendy Woo, grew up in Colorado and began her life in music at a very early age. As time went by, Wendy got a degree in music, played in bands, participated in competitions, produced music (her own and for others), and played in the Lilith Fair. She's won awards and her work has also been using commercially on network programming and documentaries.

I spent part of my morning reading about a woman in Vancouver who has inspired so many people. She was recently killed during a run in a park. Her memorial was Saturday and I've been reading the outpouring of memories and thoughts of grief from friends, family and admirers.

Someone has set up a place for memories about Wendy at www.wendymemories.com. Let's all try to live our life so that when we are gone we will continue to influence others through the memories we leave behind.

What a great person she must have been. I'm sorry for the loss of her family and friends.

There's a really funny blog I read. The writing is good and it's always hilarious.

I ran across a recent post in which she makes a sidenote mention that all Wendys are crazy. Do you think it's true? Are YOU crazy? (I know I am but I don't want to be judgmental about the rest of you.) :D
