Dear Friends,

After an amazing weekend we had in Tarifa during the contest, with poniente in the beginning that shifted into levante during the weekend, we could make a great show on the beach, thanks to the criteria they came out, looking for the most complete rider, counting 45 porcent for power manovuers, 45 porcent for old school jumps, and 10 porcent innovation, the crew on the beach really enjoyed and the riders also because was kind of funny to do both at the same time :). The singles went pretty good for me, the levante still wasnt that strong so i could combine both styles pretty good until i got to the finals meeting up Youri Zoon, after meeting strong riders like Mike Bloomval or Alex Pastor.

In doubles the levante was literally “Knucking”, and super gusty, at the point that i couldnt even go unhook with my 7 m, so didnt get the chance to score for power mobes so end it up 3rd losing against Cesar Portas, that was riding pretty solid on those conditions.

The final results:

1st Youri Zoon

2nd Cesar Portas

3rd Alvaro Onieva

4th Alex Pastor

Even though I wont be able to join the guys from Fone North America, they will be organizing a trip to Brazil. Check out the details below! Also, keep checking back from tomorrow on, as I will be presenting one new 2011 product every day!!!

This 10 days-9 night trip is co-sponsored by Kite Adventures, who have been organizing kite trips in Brazil for years and F-One Kiteboarding Americas. Great wind, great downwinders, good waves, all you can ask for. Even though the currency is not working in our favor, we have been working hard to keep the trip cost under $2K, $1995 exactly. This is a special introductory pricing, just for F-One!. The regular cost is $2500 per person.

The main idea was to go someplace great where we could bring in all the new 2011 F-One toys for everybody to try out. New BANDIT IV, 2-line SOURCE, new Twin Tips (TRAX, TX, SK8, ACID) and SURFS (new fish 54 and 56, new 58, 510 and 60). The base will be Cumbuco, which is 30mn away from the Fortaleeza airport and we will then explore the coast and go to Jericoacoara (or Jeri). We will have a Kite Adventure guide and coordinator with us + accomodation in local pousadas + transportation by 4x4 between cities and buggies for the daily downwinders. First round of Caipinrinhas is on us !

Feel free to forward this notice to your staff or to your customers. Places are limited. For booking, more info on the trip, etc... contact Dan @ Kite Adventures - Dan@kiteadventures.com - 786-379-5483; or you can also book online at http://kiteadventures.com/fone/. First come first serve!

Since it took me 3 days and 2 nights full on flying just to get from CostaRica to Mauritius via Houston and Frankfurt, I had plenty of time to work on my latest video. Thanx to Soöruz I was able to do some great trips in the past. I captured some of them on the cam, and I want to present them out of quite interesting angles from the board and kite!

For now I am 2 weeks in Mauritius at the Dealermeeting. I will give you constant updates and news! But for now, enjoy the Vid!!!!

Cheers

Doch jetzt is vorbei mim Relaxen. Ich flieg direkt von hier zum Fone Dealermeeting nach Mauritius, wo der Bandit4 und alle neuen Boards vorgestellt werden! Ich halt euch am Laufenden!!!

Cheers

Jule Hosp: Teneriffa, Cocos and a Luggage Mess

I was fairly dissapointed by Teneriffa. Even thought the worldcup has been organized very well, I can barely understand how tourists could ever voluntarily choose to come to this place to ride waves or kite. The wind is extremely strong, gusty, and the water more than choppy. Anyways, even though I planned on competing on this stop I dismissed this plan immediately, and rather helped out with the Orga of the event. Also, I got the chance of testing the new Shadow Boxes from California...

The Shadow Box consists of several GPS devices, acceleration-, rotational- and other highly sensitive sensors. For the first time ever in kitesurfing, we are able to actually put a jump into numbers and quantify height, length and duration. Of course I went for a try, and the conditions in Teneriffa (while actually sucking for everything else) are really awesome for high jumps: 50 knots strong wind and 4-5m launching ramps really snatched me into the atmosphere: In the end I reached 17m height, 130m far and 10,4 sec long jumps… I was quite stoked, as I never believed it was that crass!

My return flight home from Tenerifa was quite a shock: my luggage got totally wasted :-( Check the pics, and ask yourself how the heck an airline could destroy things that bad. Anyways, in the end it was not so bad, as they apologized and replaced it! Fair! Also, I was really stoked to get a big newspaper article about my kitesurfing and medicine career. That definitely made up for the crap that happened with my bags :-)

The reason I had been offline for so long was that I took vacation. I know, that people always think I am year around on holidays, but actually some trips can be really frustrating and exhausting. So I took 2 weeks off, and went diving in the Pacific Ocean: Cocos, the biggest uninhabited island in the world, belongs to Costa Rica, and is a huge natural park. Therefore, no electricity,no phone, no internet, no nothing! Only relaxing, chilling, diving, and having fun. A well-needed time out after my exams. What can I say, it really changed me: I realized the world will still spin even though I am gone for some time, and in order to have energy for certain things you need to look at it from a distance to find a new focus and strength! The diving was the best ever, and will hardly be topped: I have seen thousands of Hammerhead Sharks, Tiger Sharks, Whale Sharks, Mantas… and all just an arm-length away!!! Check the pics in the Cocos Gallery !!!!

But now I am back to work: I am flying straight from the Pacific ocean to Mauritius (3 full days of flying!!!!) where I will be attending the 2010 Fone International Dealermeeting for the presentation of the Bandti4 and all new Boards! Even though I have seen all the new products already, it will be great to show them to the public! I will supply you with pictures and updates from there!!! Stay tuned!

Cheers

Today thereis no looking back the wind is about 25 up to 45 knots and everyone is on 7mkites. The Jumps hare huge and also the crashes are much harder than normal. For instance my friend Peter got his bar raped around his leg and my roommatefell through the lines on his bar. This is pretty radical conditions when thewinds is strong in Tarifa its nothing to joke around with you have to be carefulone single wrong pull on the bar and you will boost 50m downwind and crash superhard, hopefully not with one leg in-between the bar. If you wonder Peter isfine with some bruises and i think he was lucky not to hurt himself more. Samewith Paulino he got a small scrach under his arm but he literally jumped throughhis own bar. Don’t try this at home: D Actually this happened when i was in theheat vs Paulino and i manage to win this heat with some big airs, board offs andone slim. Just to make one handle pass was a mission. Next heat was against theSpanish rider Jo Chiastulla. We had some similar jumps and some handle passesbut i didn’t do enough stuff so i lost. This puts me on a 7th place. Tomorrowwe will do a best trick competition and i will come back with some news it ithink it can be very interesting. Cheers for now!

In the first heat i was against Jose luengo , the wind was gusty and not that strong but i won my heat and past to the next round.

In the Final the wind was a little more steady and good for 8m , Alvaro Onieva was on fire on his old school tricks.

I had a pretty good heat did a lot of powerd tricks and a couple of good Old school so i won the event.
