Every month, we're giving away a $50 gift certificate. All you have to do is send us your pictures of Welder Series parts in [...]

I’m sure you’re all familiar with our “$5 per picture we use on our website” program… and if you’re not, that’s ok because we’re changing it drastically.

We wanted to give some more incentive to share your pictures of Welder Series parts with us/the world, so here’s our new and improved, reduced trans fat, more taste, longer lasting, hotter burning, way better offer:

We’re randomly giving away one $50 Welder Series gift certificate every month. To enter the draw, send us one or more pictures of Welder Series parts being assembled, installed, or used. Pictures of our parts sitting on your bench don’t count.

When we receive the picture(s), we’ll add your email address to a list of entries for the current month, as well as the next month. You have two chances to be chosen! For example, if you send pictures in September, you will be entered in the September draw and the October draw, but not the November draw.

The “winner” will be chosen by a random number generator at www.random.org.

You can’t win two months in a row unless you send another picture/pictures during the next month.

We can use the pictures you send anywhere on our site or in promotional material.

Sending more than one picture does not give you multiple entries in the draw.

The winner will receive a credit of $50 on their account at Welder Series. No cash value. Credit will be active for two months.

The draw will take place on the first business day of the following month. For example, the September draw will take place on October 1st (a Friday).

The “winner” will be notified via email and in our newsletter.

I think that covers it all… if you have any questions, please send me an email.

Please send all draw entries to pictures@welderseries.com.

Here are some examples:

Good morning, I want to install a 4-link kit on my 95 S-10. I was hoping you could recommend a kit. If you could tell me what else I would need like the Panhard bar the bag brackets and whatever else you would recommend I would greatly appreciate this.

Thank you,
John

John, our WS318500 (ready-to-weld) or 318500 (welded) kits would be ideal for this job. I’d also suggest the (WS)2184 rear Panhard bar kit. The 474208 frame brackets and 21870 axle brackets will look after the air bags if you are using the F9000 or similar.

Thanks for looking at Welder Series parts.

These inserts are great for adding threads to a blind hole, or even adding threads to a painted surface. There is a special tool typically used to crimp them in place, but I found this tip to do it without the tool:

Nutsert Installation

by Brian Brown
This is how I install nutserts without the special tool.

Start out with a strip of 12 gauge steel about 12″ X 1″. Near the end drill a clearance hole of the appropriate size for a bolt that fits the nutsert.

Get a long bolt (same thread size as the nutsert), nut and flat washer.

Thread the nut onto the bolt until it’s near the head of the bolt. Slide the flat washer onto the bolt. Now stick the end of the bolt through the hole in the steel strip.

Thread the nutsert onto the end of the bolt until the end of the bolt is flush with the bottom of the nutsert. Slide the steel strip and the flat washer up against the face of the nutsert.

Lubricate the bolt thread that’s now exposed between the nut and the flat washer with a molybdenum lubricant (doing it at this point minimizes getting lubricant on the nutsert threads). Thread the nut down until it touches the flatwasher.

Push the nutsert into its hole.

Use two wrenches. One to hold the head of the bolt stationary. One to turn the nut. The steel strip should also be held stationary.

*** This is the key point *** By holding the steel strip and the bolt stationary, there will be no twisting force applied to the nutsert as it is tightened. As the nut is turned, the bolt will be pulled straight out, collapsing and seating the nutsert.

When the nutsert is very tightly seated, loosen the nut a little and then unthread the bolt from the nutsert.

Using this method with the steel strip, you should have no problem with nutserts being loose. I’ve installed many nutserts this way without any problem.

I hope this helps.

I was browsing Grant Schwartz’s website (www.schwartzwelding.com) today and stumbled on this 1947 Mercury gallery. Grant is doing some neat frame work here, but what I zeroed in on was the way he mounted the brake pedal bracket. He used a Welder Series #WS25800 kit, and instead of bolting the pedal bracket to the frame using the tabs in the kit, he shortened the lower plate and set the upper plate on top of the frame rail. This is very similar to the way Lowdown Hotrods did the remote pedal kit in a Model A frame they built (pictures are on the WS25800 product page of our web store). Both these methods will get the brake pedal very close to the inside of the frame rail.
