Flying Car Accident Under Investigation In Canada

Flying cars might be a thing of the future, or a thing of today if you have an I-TEC Maverick LSA Flying Car.

Using a parachute to keep the car in the air, the company’s website says it’s:

“design has been developed as an easy-to-operate – air, land, and snow craft. It is intuitive and safe to fly, drive and maintain by people in frontier areas of the world enabling them to use this unique vehicle in missions and humanitarian applications.”

Transportation Canada might be disputing those claims after one of these cars crashed into Ellis Elementary School in Vernon, British Columbia.

The parachute collapsed and the driver and passenger were treated for minor injuries.

No word if it was the fault of the driver or a fault in the car but something tells me it might be a while before the flying car phenomena becomes a mainstream hit. [ Source ] [ Picture ]

Businessman Stores Body Parts In Warehouse, Dogs Help Him Get Caught

Shortcuts in business don’t always work. And for one businessman in Poland, it could cost him 12 years in jail.

According to Polish television, the unnamed businessman worked for or owned a company who’s job was to dispose of medical waste. With contracts for approximately 300 medical facilities they had a lot of waste to get rid of, like amputated body parts.

Instead of paying for the parts to be incinerated, as is the law and usual practice, the businessman thought it would be better to store these body parts in warehouses to rot away. Cutting costs is always good, isn’t it?

Not when it comes to rotting body parts.

Thanks to stray dogs who were attracted to the smells of the decomposing human flesh, police were alerted to the warehouses and discovered the not so hygienic practice.

Turns out the warehouse wasn’t the first place the put the body parts. Originally they were burying them in a lot but ran out of space so turned to warehouses as the next resort.

The businessman has been charged with endangering public health and faces 12 years in jail… all thanks to 100 tonnes of medical waste (body parts) that the company failed to dispose of correctly.

Hope the money he saved was enough to get himself a really good lawyer. [ Source ] [ Picture ]

Man Runs From Cops, Gets Attacked By Alligator

A Florida man is learning the hard way karma could be a real thing… and yes, it can be a bitch.

Bryan Zuniga, 20, was pulled over by the cops for a simple traffic violation – failing to stay in one lane.

However, his license was suspended so he thought it was a good thing to escape through the passenger door and run like a bat out of hell, punching his way through a fence to make his get a way.

It didn’t last long.

As he was cutting through a water treatment plant, his plans were thrown for a loop when he was attacked by an alligator.

Ending up in hospital, Zuniga was arrested by police who found him there and his charges multiplied.

He is now facing charges of breaking or injuring fences, fleeing and eluding police, driving while licenses is suspended or revoked and resisting an officer without violence. All thanks to an alligator. Maybe he’ll be a good addition to the police force in the future.

On a side note: what is injuring a fence??? Who knew fences were made of bones and human matter. Here I thought you damaged a fence but injured a person. Silly me for not knowing my mother tongue well enough. [ Source]

Jedi knights drop over 50% in last Canadian census

Started as a joke in 2001 by a bunch of college students in British Columbia, the phenomenon took some importance when in the 2001 Canadian census over 20,000 people stated Jedi as their official religion. However the phenomenon lost steam and momentum for the 2011 census as only about 9000 Jedi’s were reported in Canada, down more than 50%.

Real-life Jedi’s readily acknowledge their movie counterparts are purely fictional. They see the films as inspirational and fantasy parables, in much the same way other religions use fantastic stories to glean morals. I’m still trying to wrap my brain around the part of the phrase “Real-life Jedi’s.”

I don’t suppose those real-life Jedi’s can grab a remote control from sitting down at 12 paces away can they?

Still, at 9000 people they claim more populace than other religions. At the 2011 census, 1,050 people declared themselves to be Satanists, 6130 proclaimed that they were Zoroastrians, and of course 1055 said that they were Rastafarians. Mercifully, being a Bieberian is still not popular enough to become a religion.

It’s not really a party until the Rastafarians show up.

Teacher Asked To Resign Thanks To Sexy Bikini Photos

Being hot for teacher is understandable when you’ve got one like 26-year old Olivia Spraurer.

The Florida woman is a high school English teacher by day and a sexy bikini model at night – or perhaps on the weekend if the shoot required it.

However, her stint as a teacher has been cut short after the principal of the school she worked at found her picture online and asked her to resign because of them.

Spraurer says she knew she was taking a risk by posing for the photos but thought, what the hey since she was planning on going to grad school after the year was out.

The only thing upsetting her is that she can’t finish the year with her students but she does plan on attending graduation.

Here’s my thing. What is the problem with a teacher posing in bikini pictures? Especially in this day and age where pretty much everyone has some sort of bikini clad selfie on their Facebook or Instagram page. It wasn’t pornography and for what I can tell the shots aren’t sexually suggestive. Just seductive.

Since when did teachers have to be rigid players of a moral code that’s pretty much gone with the turn of the century?

And from what I hear about teacher’s wages in the US, it seems more than one has to take a side job to be able to pay rent.

Call me new-wave thinking, but bikini shots aren’t worth getting ~~fired for~~ asked to resign for… and I’m betting a male teacher in a sexy speedo and ripped chest wouldn’t be asked to do the same.

Time to get your heads out of the 50′s and into the new millennium. [ Source ]

In this growing world of paparazzi’s, robbers and kidnapping, nannies for the rich and famous have to know more than how to change a bum or soothe a scrap. They need to be skilled in self-defense, get away driving and other means of dealing with modern day annoyances.

This is what department heads at Norland College in Bath, Somerset, England believe. They’ve had a degree in childcare since 1892 and they’ve changed the courses to meet the needs of today’s royals, celebs and neauveau riche.

The four-year BA in nanny skills costs £36,000 and includes training in martial arts like Tae Kwon Do as well as race car driving at Castle Combe Racing Circuit in Wiltshire where they learn high speed driving under every weather condition.

Why teach the nannies these skills that seem more appropriate for security guards and spies?

John Yeo is the driving instructor, who normally trains body guards. He explains, “We put them under as much pressure as we can. If we’re putting all the pressure on them and they can still pull the car out of a situation quickly and efficiently. ”

Quickly and efficiently those nannies will be able to race away from pursuing paparazzi and annoying would be kidnappers. And look out… if you get too close that nanny might drop kick your ass.

Goat Riding Horse Become Ad For Newfoundland And Labrador

Sometimes the best things happen by accident and in this digital age these accidents can become Internet sensations.

This is what has happened with a video of a little brown goat riding a white horse in Newfoundland.

As the story goes, a camera crew was shooting a commercial for their upcoming season of tourism ads for Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. While there they spotted two unlikely friends – a little brown goat on top of a while horse.

Little goat was getting a ride until white horse decided enough was enough and bucked him off.

Capturing the whole episode of cuteness on camera, the crew then turned it into an ad for the province touting ‘where else can you find the unexpected.”

Their bosses must be happy. Not only did they shoot two commercials that day for the price of one, the video of the unlikely friends is going viral. But I do feel sorry for those tourists who are going to book trips to the province thinking everywhere they look they’ll see goats riding horses. [ Source ] [ Picture ]

Man’s Runny Nose Turns Out To Be Leaky Brain

Hypochondriacs beware… this story may not be suitable for those of you who worry that ever little sniffle, scrap or cough is a terminal illness.

An Arizona man’s chronically runny nose turned out to be more than allergies after a specialist found it was his brain leaking through his nostrils.

At first, the condition affected Joe Nagy a couple of days a week. On those days he’d be plagued with the constant drip of a clear liquid coming from his nose. After a while that nasal drip increased to seven days a week.

Allergy pills wouldn’t work and after an embarrassing moment where his drip landed on the model airplane blueprints he was looking over, presumably with others, Nagy decided to seek help to stop the runny nose.

That’s when Peter Nakaji, a neurosurgeon at Barrow Neurological Institute, found a hole in the membrane surround Nagy’s brain and concluded the drip was brain fluid leaking through the hole.

“You don’t really think about it, but our brains are really just above our noses all of the time,” Dr. Nakaji told media. “This is one of the more common conditions to be missed for a long time … because so many people have runny noses.”

The brain produces up to 12 ounces of brain fluid everyday.

Dr. Nakaji mended the hole in Nagy’s brain membrane with a routine surgery and he is recovering. Recovery was slowed due to a bout of meningitis but now everything is on the mend. And Nagy’s leaky faucet is fixed. [ Source. ]

The 3-D artwork of Nagal Hideyuki is simply awesome.

Using a pencil, sometimes pencil crayons, and a sketch pad often with one side upright against a wall,

Hideyuki creates images that seem to jump off the page.

At first you might think it is a Photoshopped image you’re looking at. But think again…

This is art trickery, done old school styles. No computers helped. It is all human generated.

Kid Attacks Teacher’s Teaching with Well-reasoned Rant

The young man in the video is one Jeff Bliss of Duncanville High School, Texas. Not exactly weird news – but it is on YouTube, it is presently viral and I am a teacher… so there is a tacit connection and besides, it caught my interest.

The camera work sucks, but it shows a displeased Bliss putting together a solid, well-reasoned critique of his teacher’s teaching performance. Her crimes, it would seem are simply handing out reading packets, and taking the time to reach out to her kids. She tells him that he is “wasting her time.” I think that she might be wasting his. Sure, he screws up a couple of words, but his delivery is 100% – give that guy the right sort of teachers and he will go far.

Watching the video I can see several things wrong with her teaching technique.
1. She is sitting behind her desk in the corner of the room, behind a pile of books – the entire dynamic of the class would shift if she divided her time between standing up front and walking around the room – and those times when the kids are working on their own are when she should be helping struggling kids.
2. She has no presence or passion – if she felt that his comments were undeserved, she should have been in his face arguing back, not making snide remarks from the corner of the room. If she had engaged any of the kids, they would have been supporting her – instead, they all seemed content to let Bliss say what he had to say.
3. The whiteboard looks like everything was pre-written – I’m guessing that she set it up at the start of the day and left it up throughout the day. Teenagers’ minds don’t work that way. Do it live, or you might as well not do it at all. Writing on blackboards and whiteboards is not a lot of fun – but by doing it as you go, you take the students through step-by-step and have the opportunity to tweak what needs to be tweaked.

As a teacher, I sympathize. There are times that the job is truly excruciating, there are times that it is too much work, and the pay sucks, so if it is just a paycheck, she is definitely in the wrong line of work. It is a responsibility, a heavy one at that, but when it all works out it can be enormously rewarding. For teachers like that, my advice would be to quit, or to try making an effort on at least half of their lessons – if you do that, then you can coast from time to time and the students will give you a break.

To Jeff, I would say that useless teachers are great for teaching you how to teach yourself. Do your own learning – because giving up on a subject that you have an interest in just because a teacher sucks is an enormous waste – and you have awesome here.

In unrelated news, whoever is teaching these kids videography should probably be fired as well.
