What a deliciously good post, walking! I love your food pics, but these are especially vibrant, as I almost felt I was in the neighborhood with you!
And all those different ethnic cuisines! Yum. I would try them all if I didn’t live so far away.
Liked the Halal story (want some!) and being part-German smiled at the wurst! Mmm, German Fries! Haven’t seen so much variety for a long time, but that’s New York for you!

I am using 13 and getting good comments. I am too colorblind to appreciate its true colors but I find it excellent for navigation as well as good looking. Better than Kubrick which I had before but which did not load the sidebar on permalinks. Thirteen does and that is why I chose it.

My only complaint is that recently it does not load properly every time and comes up dark. Hope that is temporary.

Jie, I just found out Akismet put your comment into spams!! I wonder why that happened (it’s not like this is the 1st time you commented here and they always went thru). Perhaps it had sth to do with the huaren site url you put in this time… if so that’s not good…

You can check out the books on my Visual Bookshelf on FB. Bogleheads Guide and Four Pillars of Investing are both good places to start.
http://www.bogleheads.org is where I first got the pointers (http://www.bogleheads.org/readbooks.htm). Their forums have lots of incredibly knowledgeable investors/investment advisors/authors posting.

In short, make sure your retirement portfolio have proper asset allocation that fit your situation, and use low cost index funds (over actively managed) whenever possible. If you need to invest outside of 401k (taxable account), u might wanna consider a mutual fund account with Vanguard.

Get on Twitter then… :-D For a blogger like you you may find Twitter more of use… and the more I dig into it (which I only started doing less than 2 wks ago) the more fascinated I become… I can see why Facebook considers it a threat.

I do! I’m sorry muse but it’s so sweet to read what you said, //hug… I miss you too, i know it doesn’t look that way, but I do miss blogging and my blogging friends; Lately more and more of my real-world friends got on Facebook so I’ve been spending a lot of time on there… I think in some sense Facebook kinda became my lazy way of blogging (actually the status updates on Facebook IS blogging, mini-blogging where every entry is its own discussion thread, all comments with auto notifications), you’ll know what I mean if you use Facebook actively (I once searched for you on FB using your email addr but didn’t find anyone. Dunno if you’re interested in getting on, but I just sent you an invite anyway). I also found u-jun (another blogging friend) on Facebook.

I’m still in the process of deciding whether I want to import my blog onto my Facebook (the FB Notes application supports external blog like wp.com; though lots of people just blog on FB using Notes, without an external blog)…

Sooo good to “see” you!!! Happy 牛 Year!!!!!!

(in case you don’t know why the Chinese character, 牛 means ox, but it sounds exactly like “new” in English… it’s the fashionable way of saying it this year among Chinese :-)

hi, I did a quick Baidu to find that out and it seems the original story came from a Chinese book titled “Seven Psychology Fables”, authored by Wu Zhi Hong (武志红). The author, according to this Amazon.cn listing, has a psychology degree and has worked under a famous Chinese psychology professor.

I’ve always been intrigued by other languages as a child, namely French & Chinese. Since English borrows words from many languages, its birth from French and German has come a long way. I’ve always thought English was a bit limiting in descriptiveness, and your thoughts in this post may validate my sentiment. How I desire to understand Chinese, that I might have a greater arsenal of vocabulary in artistic imagery !
