"The AARP claims to be all about representing the interests of seniors, but when it comes to health care reform, they are selling seniors down the river to line their own pockets. The AARP has endorsed the gargantuan PelosiCare bill that just passed the House, despite the fact the bill proposes more than $400 billion in cuts to Medicare, which is certain to lead to rationing, inferior care and "death panels" for vulnerable senior citizens. Why? As they say, follow the money. PelosiCare will also cut Medicare Advantage by $170 billion. Medicare Advantage allows seniors to purchase private insurance with their Medicare payments, but these cuts will drive many of these seniors into inferior Medigap plans. AARP has a vested interest in seniors being driven out of Medicare Advantage into Medigap plans because AARP makes a fortune in royalty fees from Medigap plans. More than one-half of its $1.1 billion budget comes from such royalty fees, and Medigap plans make up the biggest share of this royalty revenue by far. The more seniors are forced out of Medicare Advantage into Medigap plans, the more money AARP makes. In other words, under PelosiCare, seniors lose but AARP wins - big time. Even the Washington Post noted the conflict of interest on Oct. 27, when it said, "Democratic proposals to slash reimbursements for...Medicare Advantage are widely expected to drive up demand for private Medigap policies like the ones offered by AARP."TAKE ACTION! If you are an AARP member, we urge you to cancel your membership today. Their number is 1-888-687-2277. American Seniors Association (ASA) is an alternative we suggest you check out. AFA does not officially endorse ASA, but simply offers it as a conservative alternative to AARP. Maybe a way to thwart AARP, if enough Seniors would do it.

MUST READ 'Confessions of an ObamaCare Backer '

Wall Street Journal has a must read piece about Obamacare and the real purpose behind Pelosi's willingness to sacrifice the Blue Dog democrats to her and Obama's own agenda.

Mr. Cassidy is more honest than the politicians whose dishonesty he supports. "The U.S. government is making a costly and open-ended commitment," he writes. "Let's not pretend that it isn't a big deal, or that it will be self-financing, or that it will work out exactly as planned. It won't. What is really unfolding, I suspect, is the scenario that many conservatives feared. The Obama Administration . . . is creating a new entitlement program, which, once established, will be virtually impossible to rescind."

Why are they doing it? Because, according to Mr. Cassidy, ObamaCare serves the twin goals of "making the United States a more equitable country" and furthering the Democrats' "political calculus." In other words, the purpose is to further redistribute income by putting health care further under government control, and in the process making the middle class more dependent on government. As the party of government, Democrats will benefit over the long run.

This explains why Nancy Pelosi is willing to risk the seats of so many Blue Dog Democrats by forcing such an unpopular bill through Congress on a narrow, partisan vote: You have to break a few eggs to make a permanent welfare state. As Mr. Cassidy concludes, "Putting on my amateur historian's cap, I might even claim that some subterfuge is historically necessary to get great reforms enacted."

And that is the bottom line.

The debate over new healthcare legislation now shifts to the Senate, at a time when the majority of Americans are not convinced that a new law would benefit either the national healthcare system or their own personal healthcare situations in the long term. The overall advice from the average American to his or her member of Congress at this point tilts negative, although about a third of Americans initially say they have no opinion on the legislation.

Fort Hood, Hasan And The Warning Signals

One has to wonder, as more news comes out about Nidal M. Hasan, the shooter of Fort Hood who cold bloodedly murdered his fellow soldiers in the name of Allah, if anything would have been done differently had he carried a sign announcing his intentions.

The Washington Post:

As a senior-year psychiatric resident at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Maj. Nidal M. Hasan was supposed to make a presentation on a medical topic of his choosing as a culminating exercise of the residency program.

Instead, in late June 2007, he stood before his supervisors and about 25 other mental health staff members and lectured on Islam, suicide bombers and threats the military could encounter from Muslims conflicted about fighting in the Muslim countries of Iraq and Afghanistan, according to a copy of the presentation obtained by The Washington Post.

"It's getting harder and harder for Muslims in the service to morally justify being in a military that seems constantly engaged against fellow Muslims," he said in the presentation.

"It was really strange," said one staff member who attended the presentation and spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the investigation of Hasan. "The senior doctors looked really upset" at the end. These medical presentations occurred each Wednesday afternoon, and other students had lectured on new medications and treatment of specific mental illnesses.

An Army spokesman said Monday night he was unaware of the presentation, and a Walter Reed spokesman declined to comment. It is unclear whether anyone in attendance reported the briefing to counterintelligence or law enforcement authorities whose job it is to identify threats from within the military ranks.

Maj. Nidal M. Hasan corresponded by e-mail late last year and this year with a radical cleric in Yemen who has criticized the United States for waging war against Muslims, but the contact did not lead to an investigation, federal law enforcement officials said Monday.

The New York Times:

Intelligence agencies intercepted communications last year and this year between the military psychiatrist accused of shooting to death 13 people at Fort Hood, Tex., and a radical cleric in Yemen known for his incendiary anti-American teachings.

But the federal authorities dropped an inquiry into the matter after deciding that the messages from the psychiatrist, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, did not suggest any threat of violence and concluding that no further action was warranted, government officials said Monday.

They "concluded" wrong, obviously.

How many signs, warnings and red flags did the military need to be able to see this man was a danger?

Pete Hoekstra, the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee is insisting all documents pertaining to the massacre be released to Congress.

"At some point, it becomes necessary for us, as a nation, to address the uncomfortable threat of homegrown terrorism and radicalism, and Congress has an obligation to review how federal agencies are handling and disseminating information related to the threat," Hoekstra, R-Holland, said in statement Monday.

On Thursday, Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan reportedly opened fire at Fort Hood's Soldier Readiness Processing Center, killing 13 and wounding 31.

Hoekstra's sent a letter, dated Saturday, requesting that information regarding the Killeen, Texas, shootings be preserved and sent to the heads of the FBI, CIA and National Security Agency and to Dennis Blair, director of national intelligence.

In the letter, Hoekstra said he'd become aware of information that serious issues exist with the performance of U.S. intelligence agencies in connection with what appears to have been a terrorism-related attack.

"I believe members of the full committee on a bipartisan basis will want to scrutinize the intelligence relevant to this attack, what the agencies in possession of that intelligence did with it, who was and wasn't informed and why, and what steps America's intelligence agencies are taking in light of what they know," he said.

He accused the Obama administration of not being forthcoming with information about Hasan.

"President Obama said people should not jump to conclusions about what happened at Fort Hood, but the administration is in possession of critical information related to the attack that they are refusing to release to Congress or the American people," Hoekstra said.

The hell with Congress, I want to see them. Every American should be entitled to know why each and every agency, including the military, did nothing about this man before he murdered, maimed and injured all those people at Fort Hood.

Democrats Have To Go Back Home To Face Constituents

If August was anything to go by, the Democratic politicians in Washington might just want to cancel their vacation.

The Politico:

The rhetorical and tactical battle lines, however, are similar to the tumultuous summer recess. Senate Republican leaders are encouraging their members to hold health care town halls. And House Republicans have armed their troops with a 16-page memo detailing talking points on what they call the Pelosi Health Care Bill.

“Speaker Pelosi’s 1,990-page bill is a freight train of runaway spending, bloated bureaucracy, higher taxes and federal mandates — and the American people know it,” Indiana Rep. Mike Pence, chairman of the House Republican Conference, said in the memo.

House Democratic leaders have given their members talking points memos, fact sheets and district-by-district analyses of the bill’s impact. The district-specific reports include information on how many seniors, small businesses and uninsured residents will be helped by reform, among other statistics. The in-depth analyses were prepared for all members, Democrats and Republicans alike, so it won’t be a surprise when Democrats start using the information to blast Republicans for hurting their constituents by voting against the bill.

The Democrats have armed their politicians with a list of talking points as well to try to counter the anger they had to face last time they went home for recess.

Should be an interesting vacation for them since the latest numbers show that a majority of Americans, more importantly, a majority of unaffiliated voters, oppose Obamacare. (Via Rasmussen)

Code Pink Terrorizing Children- Kids & Protesters: Halloween at the White House

Dressed as ‘zombie soldiers’ killed in combat, ‘ghosts of war victims,’ witches and healthcare fairies, members of Code Pink menacingly paraded in front of a captive audience of children one block from the White House, who waited along the sidewalk in front of Decatur House just off Lafayette Park for a Halloween party hosted by President Obama.

Last Saturday, the President hosted several hundred military families for trick or treating. Also invited were children of White House staff and about 2000 children from eleven D.C. area elementary schools.

In a press release published at their website, key Obama ally Code Pink – a group co-founded by one of Obama’s top funders Jodie Evans, announced they were targeting military families for what can only be called psychological abuse by conducting a macabre protest of the war in Afghanistan as the families waited in line to enter the White House grounds.

Leave The Obama Kids Alone

The Kansas-based far-right church known for its outrageous choices of protest venues picketed outside the private school attended by first daughters Sasha and Malia Obama on Monday morning, and in the process got embroiled in an angry war of words with an MSNBC anchor.

"God is your enemy," read one sign at the event outside of Sidwell Friends School, as captured in a photo by Megan Phelps-Roper, granddaughter of church founder Fred Phelps.

The church is known for its signature protest sign that reads "God hates fags."

MSNBC anchor David Shuster described Monday's Westboro church protest as "beyond the pale."

"Hopefully, some of the more rational conservatives/Republicans will condemn this stuff today," he wrote on his Twitter account.

Most conservative and Republican politicians have long worked to distance themselves from the group, not least because of its practice of picketing the funerals of US troops. But Shuster's Tweet set off an argument between the MSNBC reporter and Phelps-Roper.

"Don't forget our Tuesday Sidwell picket," Phelps-Roper Tweeted at Shuster, in reference to the group's plans to picket the school again. "Put away your idols and obey God!"

"Go ahead," Shuster Tweeted back at Phelps-Roper. "Show the entire world the vile, crude, and disgusting protest you put on this [morning] at the Obama kids' school."

Any longtime reader here knows how these idiots picket at military funerals, lost a lawsuit when one of our fallen soldier's father sued Phelps and won a large judgement against him and they celebrate the deaths of those in new Orleans during Katrina, all claiming they do it in the name of their "church."

Obama's children are not politicians, they are not part of the political scene, they simply were born to him and they should be left alone.

I am no fan of Obama, nor his politics, nor his desire to turn America into a socialist country, but no one should ever go after his children as this group is doing.

More Troops For Afghanistan.....errrrr...... Or Not?

Guessing the trial balloon news report that Barack Obama has decided to give General Stanley McChrystal the troops he requested did not receive the best of feedback from the anti-war liberals because soon after CBS reported it, the White House was denying it vehemently.

The original story:

McChrystal wanted 40,000 and the president has tentatively decided to send four combat brigades plus thousands more support troops. A senior officer says "that's close to what [McChrystal] asked for." All the president's military advisers have recommended sending more troops.

With 68,000 Americans already there, the Afghan surge would mean there would be 100,000 U.S. troops in Afghanistan by the end of the president's first term.

The president is not expected to announce his decision until after he returns from China the week before Thanksgiving.

The White House denial:

White House National Security Adviser Retired Gen. Jim Jones issued a rare public statement Monday vehemently denying media reports suggesting President Obama has privately decided to send close to 40,000 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan, as tensions between the White House and Pentagon appear to be flaring up over exactly what the president will announce.

"Reports that President Obama has made a decision about Afghanistan are absolutely false," Jones, who generally keeps a low public profile, said in a prepared statement Monday night. "He has not received final options for his consideration, he has not reviewed those options with his national security team, and he has not made any decisions about resources. Any reports to the contrary are completely untrue and come from uninformed sources."

Once again Barack Obama seems to think it is okay to play politics with war and with our troops' lives.

Majority (52%) Opposed To House's Obamacare Plan

Over the weekend, Democratic leaders spoke of an historic moment as health care reform legislation passed the House of Representatives. But that legislative victory failed to significantly move public opinion.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 45% now favor the health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. Most (52%) remain opposed.

Only 25% Strongly Support the plan while 42% are Strongly Opposed.

Support for the plan has remained essentially unchanged for months. Last week, it was supported by 42% and two weeks ago support was at 45%. It has generally stayed between 41% and 46% since July, and support has bounced above that level only in the wake of nationally televised appeals by the president.

As has been the case for months, Democrats favor the plan while Republicans and voters not affiliated with either major party are opposed. The latest numbers show support from 81% of those in the president’s party. The plan is opposed by 90% of Republicans and 58% of unaffiliated voters.

At this point the majority of the public has made up their minds one way or another on Obamacare and the numbers are not fluctuating much but are steady in their patterns.

So while the House may be able to jam through anything Pelosi's heart desires, the Senate will not be able to follow that guide. There are enough moderate Democrats voted into conservative districts that understand going totally against the majority will cost them their political jobs as well as a united front by the GOP against government run healthcare aka the "public option" that Reid has insisted be part of the language.

Majority Think It Is "Likely" Next President Will Be Republican

Rasmussen:

Fifty-eight percent (58%) of likely voters say it is at least somewhat likely the next president of the United States will be a Republican, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

The number has been trending in this direction since Democrat Barack Obama took office in January and is up 14 points since then.

Thirty-one percent (31%) of voters see it as Very Likely that the next president will be a Republican.

The survey was taken on Tuesday and Wednesday nights of this past week, but the question did not specify whether the next president will be elected in 2012 or 2016. Republicans recaptured the governorships of New Jersey and Virginia in elections on Tuesday

The Breakdown:

Just 29% of voters now say it is not very or not at all likely the next president will be from the GOP, the lowest level found all year and down nine points from January.

Sixty-six percent (66%) of men expect the next president to be a Republican, compared to 52% of women.

Eighty-five percent (85%) of Republicans see a member of their party winning the presidency as likely, including 57% who see it as very likely. Sixty percent (60%) of voters not affiliated with either major party think they're right, but just 31% of Democrats agree.

The numbers from the Republicans and Democrats are expected. The ones to watch and take note of are those unaffiliated.

Fort Hood Gunman And al-Qaeda- Updates

The massacre at Fort Hood which took the lives of many of our troops could have been prevented.

U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda, two American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News.

Read the whole thing for yourself, but that very first paragraph says it all.

Why was this man still allowed access to the service people at Fort Hood? Why was this man still allowed access to weapons?

The New York Times:

It was still dark on Thursday when Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan left his aging apartment complex to attend 6 a.m. prayers at the brick mosque near Fort Hood. Afterward, he said goodbye to his friends there and asked forgiveness from one man for any past offenses.

“I’m going traveling,” he told a fellow worshiper, giving him a hug. “I won’t be here tomorrow.”

Six hours later, Major Hasan walked into a processing center at Fort Hood where soldiers get medical attention before being sent overseas. At first, he sat quietly at an empty table, said two congressmen briefed on the investigation.

Then, witnesses say, he bowed his head for several seconds, as if praying, stood up and drew a high-powered pistol. “Allahu akbar,” he said — “God is great.” And he opened fire. Within minutes he had killed 13 people.

Joseph Lieberman, who heads the Senate's Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, states, via WSJ "If Hasan was showing signs, saying to people that he had become an Islamist extremist, the U.S. Army has to have zero tolerance. He should have been gone."

Sickeningly enough, the gunman is being declared a "hero" by other Muslim extremists.

Lieberman: If Public Option Is In Bill, I Will Not Allow Final Vote

The video below is Joe Lieberman stating clearly that if the public option is part of the senate bill, he will join Republicans and filibuster the bill.

Bob Graham, in speaking with "Face the Nation" has declared that the House bill, with the public option, is "dead on arrival to the Senate".

Graham argued that the House bill was "written for liberals, by liberals.

"Just look at how it passed; it passed 220 to 215. It passed by two votes. You had [39] Democrats vote against the bill," Graham told "Face the Nation" host Bob Schieffer Sunday.

He also admitted that if it were to come down to it, he would join his independent colleague Senator Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., in filibustering a bill including the so-called public option should it come to the Senate floor.

"The House bill is a non-starter in the Senate," he added. "I just think the construct out of the House and what exists in the Senate is not going to pass, and I hope and pray it doesn't because it would be a disaster for the economy and health care," Graham concluded.

The Politico explains the challenges of trying to move the Senate's version forward which by "congressional standards" the "feat is nearly impossible."

[Update] Senator Orrin Hatch echoes Graham in stating Pelosi's Obamacare, as written, will never pass in the Senate, via The Hill.

"That exercise in the House, that’ll never pass the Senate," Hatch said during an appearance on "Imus in the Morning" on the Fox Business Network.

I saw all the young political hacks angling for a piece of the political pie, I saw the lobbyists like prostitutes lurking in the halls of Congressional office buildings, I saw Congressmen with entourages that would make the late rap artist Biggie Smalls green with envy, I saw the "eye candy," voluptuous young women with low-cut tops and short skirts all for the Congressmen to ogle, I saw most of those on the floor of the House texting or surfing the Internet on their I-phones while a bill was being proposed. That's why I am mad. These are the people who are supposed to be representing us. These are the people who have the unmitigated gall to call us names and demean the character of the Tea Party movement. DC is a big game. And you, and I, and the bulk of the American people are not allowed on the game board. This is not what our Founding Fathers envisioned in our representative-style government. Our politicos, by and large/Republican and Democrat are only concerned with their own game pieces, not our country or our people. It angers me to see how they conduct themselves within the confines of once noble institutions. Beautiful architecture and historically-significant buildings germane to the perpetuation of freedom in this great land used as a platform for personal power and the subjugation of the American people.

I hope and pray that this has been a wake-up call for many. There is no sense worrying about the past. We must redouble our efforts. We have much work to do. We need to step up recruitment efforts, not for the sake of numbers, but because there are many tasks that need to be undertaken. We need to work harder toward the education of our friends and neighbors and especially young folks, utilizing every technological tool at our disposal. We need to work hard at getting our people in positions within the existing political machinery from poll workers to candidates for office. We need to push for the state sovereignty and firearms legislation working their way through the Ohio legislature. We must reload, redouble our efforts and re-emphasize the core values of our movement. And always remember that we can NEVER, NEVER give up! For what will we be giving up to?"

Now it is time for the Liberals to gloat, and the imposters to try and be me again. That's OK by me. I'm so used to it, it is getting to be kinda fun. So, bring it on!

House Passes Obamacare, Next Step the Senate

After a long day of backroom wheeling and dealing, the House passed Pelosi's $2.6 trillion Obamacare bill, roll call can be found here. The vote was 220 to 215 with one lone Republcan voting for it. His name is Anh (Joseph) Cao of Louisiana.

The Politico explains the trouble Harry Reid has been having and how the White House is pressuring him to meet a "timeline."

With the House’s landmark vote complete, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is facing dissent in the Democratic ranks over his health-care strategy – leaving him struggling to meet a Christmas deadline and fielding White House pressure to get the bill done.

Even before Saturday’s House vote, senators had begun to question why Reid suddenly embraced a public health insurance option – one that he didn’t yet have the 60 votes to pass.

In the process, the Senate debate over health-care has stopped dead, raising the possibility the Senate won’t even begin floor debate until after Thanksgiving. Reid himself recently left open the chance the final bill could slip until early next year.

That remark earned him a visit from White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, who showed up in the majority leader’s office a day later to press him on the urgency of the Christmas deadline, according to two Senate aides.

But it’s not just timing. Reid’s first task is finding a way to bridge the divide in his caucus between liberals pushing for a public option and moderates who have resisted the most ambitious version of that plan.

And Senate moderates are clearly growing nervous about the process ahead — the difficulties of merging a still non-existent Senate bill with a more liberal bill from the House, one that has received the blessing of President Barack Obama.

So now all eyes have turned to Reid and the moderate Democrats in the Senate.

Pelosi's Obamacare Bill $2.6 Trillion

Senate Budget Committee, Senator Gregg claims Pelosi's Obamacare bill comes in at $3 Trillion, but I haven't seen his math. The Heritage Foundation though, shows the total to be a whopping $2.6 trillion instead of the touted $1.2 Trillion originally projected.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the House Democratic leadership are frantically trying to find enough votes to pass their giant 2,032 page health care legislation this weekend. But before Speaker Pelosi and liberals in Congress pass their big bill, the American taxpayers should be fully aware of the full price tag of this monster.

As Heritage analysts noted earlier in the week, the Congressional Budget Office released its preliminary score of the bill (H.R. 3962) but too many in the media have not been reporting its true cost. The true cost is not the net spending on only the coverage related provisions ($897 billion) but rather the total gross spending for the coverage provisions ($1.05 trillion) as well as any additional spending in the bill (approximately $217 billion). That would raise the plan’s price tag to about $1.5 trillion when including the roughly $210 billion cost of the “doc fix” is included. The “doc fix” refers to the undoing of the flawed Medicare payment update formula, which Congress created but has routinely stopped from being enforced. Under current law, that formula would result in a 20 percent reduction in doctors’ pay under the Medicare program.

The real story about the true cost is even more dramatic. The bill is front loaded with taxes, and back-loaded with spending in the first ten years. Since most of the spending in the House bill does not fully go into effect until 2014, the 10-year cost estimates based on the preliminary CBO score (for years 2010 through 2019) only account for six years of new spending under the plan. Once it is implemented (over a full 10-year window from years 2014 to 2023), the giant House health bill carries a price tag of $2.4 trillion, or as much as $2.6 trillion with the “doc fix.”

No wonder she is spending the whole weekend trying to jam this through before the American people have a chance to go through the whole thing.

Vulnerable Democrats Back Away From Obamacare

The reason for Pelosi's insistence on holding a vote this weekend on Obamacare is that she doesn't want her shakey House Democrats to go home and listen to their constituents, knowing that even more of them will shy away from Obamacare if they do so.

Considering that the public, by a majority, oppose the healthcare plan, she may have reason to not want representatives to hear their constituents.

Even without letting them go home, she is losing support from some Democrats that are vulnerable in their next election.

USA Today reports:

Some of the most vulnerable Democrats in the House are starting to flake off the health care bill.

There are a dozen first-term Democrats representing districts that Republican presidential nominee John McCain won last year. So far, six have announced that they will vote against their party's health care bill.

Update, 5:43 p.m. ET: Now there are seven. The New York Daily News has just published a statement from hometown Rep. Michael McMahon, D-N.Y. He's in the no column. "I believe the net negatives of this bill outweight the positive effects," McMahon says.

Five of those announcements came today. All of the lawmakers who announced opposition cited concerns about the price tag of the legislation, estimated by the Congressional Budget Office to be more than $1 trillion over 10 years.

"After months of thoroughly reviewing legislative proposals and speaking with constituents and stakeholders, I am not satisfied that this bill before us is a sustainable solution," said Rep. Frank Kratovil, D-Md. Alert readers will remember that he was the congressman hung in effigy during the height of the August town hall meeting uproar.

The other three Democratic freshmen from McCain districts who announced their opposition to the health care bill Friday are: Reps. Bobby Bright of Alabama, Walt Minnick of Idaho, and Suzanne Kosmas of Florida. Two who announced their opposition earlier: Reps. Travis Childers of Mississippi and Parker Griffith of Alabama. All but Griffith have announced their opposition since Election Day, when Democrats suffered humiliating defeats in the New Jersey and Virginia governors races.

As written previously, Fancy Nancy also was forced to allow an amendment from anti-abortion Democrats that would ban federal funding for abortions.

Eric Cantor also has provided a list of 69 Democrats that have made statements against the Healthcare bill and asks which ones would stand by their objections and on principle and which ones will allow themselves to be pushed around by Nancy Pelosi.

Anti- Abortion Democrats Get Vote To Ban Abortion Funding From Obamacare

CNN reports:

In a late night development, anti-abortion Democrats scored a major victory by persuading Democratic leaders to allow them to offer an amendment during the House health care debate Saturday that would ban most abortion coverage from the public option and other insurance providers in the new so-called "exchange" the legislation would create, three Democratic sources told CNN.

The prohibition would exclude cases of rape, incest or if the mother's life is in danger.

The reason the anti-abortion Democrats won the right to put an amendment on abortion in the first place is stated clearly by a Democratic leadership source, when they state "We didn't have a choice. We didn't have the votes."

If this amendment passes, Pelosi runs smack dab into the more liberal portion of her caucus.

The Hill:

Liberals on the committee threatened to vote against the final healthcare bill if it included Stupak’s language, warning that it would be a return to the days of back-alley abortions.

“I forsee a return to the dark ages,” said Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.). “I’m 73, I’ve seen these dark things, they use these coat hangers and die.”

Hot Air points out the very obvious lie here.

That’s a remarkable statement — since we don’t use federal funds now to pay for abortions. Stupak’s amendment just maintains the status quo; it doesn’t actually change anything. The coat-hanger argument has always been a red herring anyway, but in this instance it’s especially dishonest … unless Hastings et al see this bill as a complete government takeover of the health-care system, which it will definitely produce sooner or later.

Liberals and abortion activists are already claiming the Democrats are "selling them out."

Pres. Obama opened the door to sell us out when he decided to put the Hyde Amendment in the budget, something Bill Clinton never did. But Mr. Obama didn’t stop there. During the stimulus fight, at the first sign of displeasure, our President personally asked that contraceptives be taken out. Now the President seems ready to finish the job, with Democrats poised to help him do it.

There is no health care bill worth supporting that sells out women’s rights. That it’s happening under Pres. Obama doesn’t surprise me, because I never expected him to champion our civil rights, but that Speaker Pelosi and Democrats in the House, but next, in the Senate, may likely go along is a bridge too far for me. It’s one reason I refused to get exercised about health care in the first place. I always believed it would come down to this, especially after Obama put Hyde in the budget, then the stimulus action, but also because Obama didn’t lift a finger to get health care passed by the August recess, which not even a dying Ted Kennedy could inspire. A man who had worked decades to see this dream manifest, just as he’d helped candidate Obama, deeming he was the man on which we could pin all of our future hopes.

Right now every woman who values her civil rights should understand how the gay community feels. Because the Democrats look poised to sell us out too.

If I was in the House I’d vote to kill the Stupak-Ellsworth amendment. But if it passes and it’s in the final legislation, I’d vote to kill the bill.

Civil rights begin with autonomy over our own body. If we don’t have that we have nothing.

But at least Mr. Obama and the Democrats will be closer to their “historic health care win.” That they did it on the backs of women’s civil rights will be a footnote, though some of us will never forget.

In related news, Sen. Tom Coburn is threatening to have the full 1,990 page bill read on the floor and if you don't buy what they tell you to buy, when they tell you to buy it... go straight to jail. Obamacare!!!

Today, Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee Dave Camp (R-MI) released a letter from the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) confirming that the failure to comply with the individual mandate to buy health insurance contained in the Pelosi health care bill (H.R. 3962, as amended) could land people in jail. The JCT letter makes clear that Americans who do not maintain “acceptable health insurance coverage” and who choose not to pay the bill’s new individual mandate tax (generally 2.5% of income), are subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties, including criminal fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years.

In response to the JCT letter, Camp said: “This is the ultimate example of the Democrats’ command-and-control style of governing – buy what we tell you or go to jail. It is outrageous and it should be stopped immediately.”

They are expected to vote on the 1,990 page monstrosity (that is without all the amendments that will be voted on), this weekend.
