        Description: The Environment and Development Conference, sponsored by the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, the Darden School of Business, the Department of Economics, and the Center for International Studies, will explore the environment and development through multidisciplinary lenses.

The keynote address, the annual Merrick Lecture, is open to the public, on Tuesday May 21, at 9am in the Garrett Great Hall, featuring Michael Greenstone (MIT), discussing "Environment and Resource Economics in the Developing World."

Faculty from Princeton, Yale, University of Maryland, Harvard, MIT, the London School of Economics, Wellesley, Tufts, the University of Illinois, and Brown University will share their research on issues such as water quality, conservation, and regulation.

        Description: Registration is open! Join us in June for this first conference on Appreciative Practices in Health Care.

Conference features Dr. Diana Whitney, internationally recognized expert in the field of Appreciative Inquiry, and the faculty of the University of Virginia Center for Appreciative Practice who have emerged as leaders in adapting AI to the field of health care.

Highlights include:
Concept of Appreciative Inquiry (AI), underlying principles rooted in positive and social psychology, and how to demonstrate their application to interprofessional teamwork, patient care and the individual.
Combines teaching presentations, illustrative activities and skill building sessions.
Panels will feature members of the UVA community and course participants who have used Appreciative Practices to enhance their team, patient and personal experiences.
Unique format allows significant interaction with the expert faculty and participants will receive real-time feedback while learning skills that can be applied immediately.
Ideal venue for individuals or professional teams to envision the application of Appreciative Practices to their own work environments with guidance from seasoned professionals.

        Description: The University of Virginia Department of Urology and the Charlottesville Track Club present the 9th annual Charlottesville Men's Four Miler! This epic 4 mile race through the UVA grounds finishes on the fifty yard line of Scott Stadium and welcomes runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. The race will be held on Father's Day, Sunday, June 16, 2013 at 7:30 am. 

The only all men's walk/run in the area, the Charlottesville Men's Four Miler was started in 2004 to encourage men to take control of their health, become more physically active, and raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer and other men's health issues.
