I had a little issue getting mine into recovery mode.
Found that I needed to hold the reset button down and after plugging it in wait till the power button blinked slowly.
Once I did this the software was able to connect.
http://www.manualowl.com/m/Asus/RT-N66U/Manual/241893?page=47

Have it installed and running now.
Thanks for the guide!!

Hi, I've been using the DNS-323 with transmission 2.42 based on your instructions in this blog. Recently I bought an Asus RT-N56 but the transmission in my DNS-323 stopped working. The torrents simply stopped working after 1 min and cannot be forced start. I tried forwarding the ports in the router but still faced the same issue. Do you have any solutions for this?

I've used the DNS-320 for a few days with Mac Lion OS. I've got timemachine working, and have set up a number of users and groups.

I've had logs notifications working, and backups from remote ftp sites I operate.

I have a satellite box which can stream video to my tv, from an windows box running the amahi home server, but the DNS-320 has failed to connect to the satellite box, which is quite irritating as this was one of the main reason for purchasing it. The sat box can use CIFS or NFS, so I had hoped one of these would have worked with the NAS-320:-(

My big concern is the imminent new MAC OS due later this year, will the problems just get worse or will the mac compatibility be improved?

I'm now regretting not buying a Netgear NAS. Hopefully D-Link who advertise Mac compatibility will get this sorted, as the latest 2.03 beta doesn't seem to work fully.

Another issue is the order in which you construct the users and the shares and groups. If after setting up the drives, you create a user for the first time then during the process your asked for a group to place the user in and similarly for a home folder or share.

D-link in the manual list what the features/functions in the software are and how to set them up individually, but there are no exemplar tutorials on how to set it up for the average home or business user.

There is also a diparity between instructions for accessing the DNS-320 for Windows and Mac users and linux and again I think D-Link should address this in their manuals.

As an inexpensive product aimed at home users this product has the potential to be brilliant, but it is let down in a number of areas.

Hopefully a update to the firmware and perhaps the manuals will sort this?

Hi Deepcuts,

Well, for those who know me personally knows that I am not working for any of these routers companies.

Next is, 2.4GHz is congested in my area (and it was highlighted in the entry) and I simply post based on what I achieved. Unless you are assuming that every one got a lab environment for their home? That will be impossible.

In actual fact, my results for 5GHz is better than some of the reviews out there. Why am I not said to be working for ASUS instead?

Looking at Hardwarezone's review of RT-N66U for TCP download. For 2.4Ghz, their tests yield 64.5Mbps and 59.7Mbps for download and upload respectively (at 10M). Whereas for 5.0GHz, their tests yield 90Mbps and 81.6Mbps for download and upload respectively.

So the test results on this page truthfully reflects the actual Wireless-N speeds of the ASUS RT-N66U for TCP downloads. You can continue to argue for the higher speeds reflected by ix Chariot but this sets of test are based on what all of us knows - downloading/uploading of files in a typical home environment.

If I have a chance to re-test with lesser 2.4GHz interference, I will. :)

Are you working for Asus's competition? :)
Those WiFi speed are far from the truth.
Would be nice to re-test
