East Campus Residence Hall: Opening Fall 2012

The East Campus Residence Hall, a new residential building for some 450 students, is underway at East 15th Avenue and Moss Street and on-schedule for opening in fall 2012. After the completion of the John E. Jaqua Academic Center for Student Athletes, Matthew Knight Arena and the Cheryl Ramberg Ford and Allyn Ford Alumni Center, the East Campus Residence Hall is the only current significant construction project on the east side of the UO campus.

Construction Activities: Major construction events for the East Campus Residence Hall project will be listed below, in chronological order.

Local Street and Sidewalk Access: The sidewalk is closed to pedestrians on the south side of East 15th Avenue between the Museum of Natural and Cultural History and Moss Street. The sidewalk is also closed on the west side of Moss Street between East 15th Avenue and East 16th Avenue. Local streets are open.

Pedestrian and bicyclist safety: Pedestrians and bicyclists need to be especially careful of vehicles with large loads. Use extreme caution when riding or walking near trucks. Drivers of these trucks have blind spots in which bicyclists and pedestrians cannot be seen.

Hours of Construction: Construction hours are typically Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., with less noisy activity, such as workers arriving to work, starting as early as 7 a.m. Some work on Sundays may be necessary to keep the project on schedule.

Reporting Suspicious Activity: Safety is a priority on the site. Unlawful entry onto the site is not only illegal, it’s dangerous. A full time security guard is on site. Trespassers are putting themselves in danger and will be prosecuted to the highest extent of the law. Anyone with knowledge of any illegal trespass, theft or vandalism activity on the construction site, should report it to the Construction Industry Crime Prevention program (CICP). Reports may be anonymous. A reward of up to $1,000 may be given to anyone reporting vandalism or theft on the construction site that leads to a conviction.
