Dead Before Dawn - A Left 4 Dead Campaign | 2GB

Dead Before Dawn is the work in progress campaign also known as Crossroads Mall.

If this is the first time you have heard of it then you have missed out on a lot. It was originally created for the HL2 Mod: No More Room in Hell. A few weeks ago, I contacted the creator, Darth_Brush, to find out if he was planning on porting it to Left 4 Dead. Since that day, Darth_Brush and a hand selected few community members have been working on it non-stop. With no SDK for Left 4 Dead yet, we are forced to work on the campaign using the HL2 Source engine. At first we wanted to use the Crossroads Mall for a large map but we have decided to create a full campaign from it. The idea behind the campaign is to recreate as many scenes from the movie it was inspired from, Dawn of the Dead (2004).

As players explore the campaign, in each chapter they will notice distinct locations from the movie. These locations and many more easter eggs are being implemented as we speak. So many things have changed or have been added to the campaign that I thought it neccessary to record a new video to show chapter 2 and what we plan on doing with it.

Simply playing in the mall just won't cut it. So, we decided to add some puzzles and obstacles to it. Around every corner, you will have to fight hordes, avoid traps, disable security and a few other things. This video is merely a teaser and is in no way near the final product. There are a lot of things that still needs to be added to the campaign and we will make sure that this campaign is near perfect before we release it.

Please note that this campaign is a Work In Progress and still needs a lot of attention. For instance, the lighting. Once we have our hands on the Left 4 Dead SDK, these things will be fixed.

If one half of game sequels innovate and improve upon their predecessors while the other half offer up still more of what the original had to offer, then Rage of Mages II falls squarely into the second category

It looks, sounds, and feels almost identical to the first game, which was a Warcraft II clone on the surface and a story-driven role-playing game beneath that guise. And although the original Rage of Mages didn't even look or sound that good to begin with, somehow the sequel also manages to scrape by, what with its similarly subtle and enjoyable combination of real-time strategy and story elements all within an accessible and responsive interface. It has an entertaining storybook plot and is fun to play, which will make you wish it had the poise and styling of the first-rate role-playing game it doesn't even aspire to be.

Rage of Mages II recycles many if not most of the original's visual and audio effects, and its new scenery, monsters, and items will easily blend with the old material to make the game seem just a little too familiar, at least on first impression. Your orange-cloaked heroes still look dull, although their paper doll-style portraits can be adorned with a seemingly limitless combination of fantastic weapons and armor, from your typical steel sword and tower shield on up to magical adamantine halberds and dragon-scale leather leggings. Otherwise, the game still looks like a slightly refined Warcraft II, with a top-down perspective and plain 2D creatures and settings.

Terlebih dahulu Ujang nak minta maaf banyak-banyak sebab lama tak menulis. Sebulan dua ni Ujang sangat sibuk... dari Kuantan ke Pulau Pinang sekarang. Ujang sekarang dah jadi orang Seberang Perai Tengah. Ujang dah kena tukar kat sini pulak. Macam ni lah kalau jadi orang kerajaan. Berpindah randah menjadi perkara biasa.Ujang pulak jadi tak tentu arah tinggal kat sini. Tiada kawan, tak tahu selok-belok jalan. Matilah Ujang... ini kali pertama Ujang kerja di belah Utara, memang mati kutu Ujang kat sini.

Ujang tinggal kat perkampungan orang cina, Jalan Berapit. Nak cari makan pun susah.. jumpa kedai cina jer.. rumah Ujang pun berdekatan dengan perkampungan orang cina. Sesiapa yang tinggal area seberang perai ni, sudi-sudilah berkawan dengan Ujang..Harap-harap dapatlah kawan baru kat sini.. Amin!!!

Lama Ujang tak menulis. Hampir sebulan. Ujang agak sibuk dengan kerja. Sekarang jam kat laptop Ujang ni 1.33pagi. Mata masih belum terlelap. Dalam duduk sendirian, Ujang teringat kisah-kisah lama Ujang. Kisah zaman remaja Ujang yang memang gila. Kalau di fikir kan memang rasa tebal muka ni. Mana tak nya, masa umur 12 tahun, pada hari tu, Kampung Ujang ada buat sukaneka untuk keluarga kat perumahan kawasan Ujang tinggal. Makcik Zainung masuk pertandingan. Ujang tak masuk sebab makcik Zainung tak daftarkan. Syabas Makcik Zainung, sebab lupa nak register nama Ujang. Sudah Makcik Zainung main tarik tali (KALAH.. TU LAH TAK BERKAT SEBAB TAK DAFTAR NAMA UJANG SEKALI MASUK PERTANDINGAN TIUP BELON) Mak minta Ujang balik rumah tolong buat air untuknya dan bawa ke padang.

Ujang nie menurut perintah je lah kan..Anak yang baik.. huhuhu, tapi sebenarnya takut kena cubit sampai biru dengan Cik Nung hehehe. Ujang pun bawalah air dan beri pada Mak. Bila Mak minum jer.. terus tersembur air tersebut tepat kena kat muka Ujang. Air yang menitik itu Ujang rasa, hmm rasa nak pitam. Tau kenapa? Ujang letak AJINOMOTO dalam nescafe. Huhuhu.. Ingatkan gula. Cubalah korang buat. Sedap hahhaa. Balik rumah, Ujang kena pelempang. Insaf beb!!
