Are you interested in Recycling? If so then this is the perfect job opportunity for you! The City of Springfield is looking for students for UIS and LLCC to help with the collection of colored Glass to be recycled. This event will be held Saturday October 8th from 8am-12pm. Help is needed anywhere from 7:30am-12pm.Anyone who works at least 2 hours will receive free lunch. The volunteering event will be held on 8th St & Sangamon Ave, through Gate 11. Once you have arrived to Gate 11 you should proceed all the way towards the back of the Fairgrounds, and then turn right at the Goat Barn. There you will be greeted.

YMCA Fall Family Festival

The YMCA Fall Family Festival is in need of volunteers.

The festival is being held on October 14th and there are two shifts: 5 - 7 PM and 7 - 9 PM.
Anyone 12 and older can volunteer with a parent.
This is one of the YMCA largest fundraisers and over 125 volunteers are needed to make it a success. There are many volunteer positions like, face painting, running games, or handing out prizes.

On October the 1st 2011, Friendly, energetic volunteers are needed to greet families and groups as they enter the space, interact with visitors in the exhibit, and help keep the exhibit neat. Play Museum volunteers must be adults or teens 13 and up. Volunteers are asked to commit to two 3 hour shifts a month. You can get to the Museum by bus transportation.

Volunteer Opportunities M.E.R.C.Y. Communities

Childcare: Mothers at M.E.R.C.Y. attend life skills classes on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 - 7:00. Childcare volunteers are needed while the mothers attend these classes.

Respite Childcare: Childcare volunteers are needed no an as-needed basis for mothers who have appointments or just need a break.

M.E.R.C.Y. Mentors: As an added support for the women at M.E.R.C.Y House, adult female mentors are needed. Mentors are also needed for the older children (ages 6 and up).

Life Skills Classes: M.E.R.C.Y. Residents attend life skills classes on Monday and Thursday evenings. Volunteers with special knowledge regarding women's health, nutrition, parenting, budgeting, etc. are needed to facilitate these sessions.

Transportation: Transporting residents to appointments.

M.E.R.C.Y. Furniture Store: Located at 1650 Wabash Ave. The furniture store accepts donated consigned furniture. The proceeds are used to support M.E.R.C.Y. communities programs. Volunteers are needed to clean and repair furniture, arrange and decorate, pick up donations and answer telephone calls.

Special Events: We love help planning parties, special events, and holidays!

Work Days: Help with yard work and cleaning areas of the house.

Your Ideas: Do you act, sing, dance, or have other artistic abilities? Do you like sports and desire to share you gifts and talents with children? We would love to hear you ideas for special events!

Conversation Partner Program!!

If you are interested in helping someone become fluent in the English language then this is the right program for you! The conversation partner program is seeking Native English speaking students to pair up with non-native English speaking students. The goal is to help non-native English speaking students learn to speak English more naturally in everyday situations as well as learn more about the American Culture. A secondary goal is to foster global citizenship, tolerance, and friendship for all participants

You will be partnered according to your schedule and, if possible by shared interest. The students then will decided when to get together one hour a week on or off campus to have open discussions.

American Association for University Women!!

Volunteers are needed for the American Association for university Women. They are having their AAUW Used Book sale and would like to have young, strong assistance. Volunteers are needed to help load about 5,000 boxes of books into a U-Haul at Sentinel Pest Control on 9th Street, then unloaded at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Walnut and Edwards. The money that is raised for the books will go towards women’s scholarships. The event will take place September 22, 2011 at 4pm. This process will take a few hours.

Come join the Women’s Issues Caucus (WIC) as they volunteer for the AAUW Book Sale, DVD’s and CD’s are included. This event will be held at Westminister Presbyterian Church, 533 South Walnut, Springfield Illinois. WIC plans to volunteer from the hours of 2pm-5pm.
