No posts for a long time, but ASP.NET MVC 3 setup screen really frustrated me. I guess usually nobody reads licensee agreements, but even if you want, these kind of setup screens makes your life harder. The text of the terms is about 13 pages if you paste it into a word, but if you are paid by the hour, I suggest to play for a while with the nice tiny scroll-bar...

I tried to create a new folder using the built in file explorer of Windows Vista by a right click on the background. I was a bit surprised when I had just a "New" option, others were lost somewhere:

I tired to upload some new maps to my Garmin gps using MapSource (this is the default gps manager for Garmin products). I selected the maps in the MapSource software carefully to fit on the storage card of the gps. After about an hour waiting while it was calculated the map set the following message appeared:

Ok, it seemd as a bug, so I tired to reduce the size of the map set, but it didn't help:

I decided to give an other chance:

At this point a gave up.

AVG released a new version

AVG released a new version of his popular free antivirus and I wanted to be updated with latest features...
Windows Vista is consuming a lot of resources so I had Task Manager open to check the amount of memory needed for the new antivirus...
As you can see from the screenshot, one of the application executables, avgfrw.exe (First Run Wizard) still have some TODOs in the code... do you think there are more ? ;)

The program ends unexpectedly.

In Office 2007 there is something completely different.

There are no simple operations. Even exit can fail.

One of our colleague, Gábor wanted to attach a database using the Microsoft SQL Management Studio, when he got this surprising message:

Copy and paste between office applications

The other day, I realized a strange copy and paste behavior between Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

Firstly, I had an excel sheet with some date columns:
Later, I decreased the size of the columns. In this case Excel realizes that the date is too long so they were substituted with hash marks:
I wanted to copy these cells and paste into a word document, but it pasted only the hash marks instead of the date values.
So, don't forget to check small cells of an excel sheet before copy and past it into a word document.

Fortunately, Notepad is a more intelligent application, so it can handle this situation without any problem:

Different setup engines, both famous, Nullsoft Installer and Installshield, however buggy... the first one doesn't let me close it, everything is disabled so I need to kill it with task manager :(
The second is in Italian, I will translate for you: "... This operation could take some" what ? onions or apples ? :)

It seems a typical wtf message, but it can be eliminated by the this way.
