The said video game, based on a previous research made by Dr. Michael M. Fleming of the Northwestern University Feingberg School of Medicine, is derived from the same technology used by FBI agents during interrogation. Already in its final stage of testing, the video game uses an actor’s voice to simulate a hypothetical conversation with a patient. The game generates responses based on the doctor’s questions, and the doctor must be able to identify indicators of possible addiction or abuse based on the simulated patient appearing on the screen before them. (more…)

First there was the Sound Sofa which can double up as an iOS speaker dock. Then there’s the Sega Master System Sofa that’s perfect for video game fanatics, although it did not have any electronics on it. Today, we’re adding another interesting sofa to the lineup. We’d like to introduce the Trophy Cuddler Audio Sofa that features an iPod dock and a built-in speaker system. (more…)

The V-Pole is the brainchild of Douglas Coupland, a Canadian writer and artist who is known for writing about the intersection of culture and technology. Essentially, the V-Pole concept hopes to introduce the future of urban utility poles. The V-Pole is a slim, modular utility pole connected to underground optical wiring. It can be installed in urban settings and it promises to provide neighborhoods with WiFi access, LED street lighting, electric vehicle charging, parking transactions and can reportedly act as an electronic neighborhood bulletin board. (more…)

But eventually, all good things must come to an end, too soon, unfortunately, for Yahoo’s Livestand. Do you notice the differences? I’m sure you have. But did you notice that the photos reveal that West Cambridge has more trees than Ball Square? Well, according to Tim DeChant, who blogs over at Per Square Mile, urban trees – or the lack thereof – can actually reveal income inequality. “I was curious, could I actually see income inequality from space? It turned out to be easier than I expected,” DeChant said. (more…)

Last year, the company announced that the tablet will be arriving on Verizon’s network but clearly it wasn’t doing so well. (more…)

However, not everyone is privileged enough to earn that kind of money and purchase such a home, so those of us who live in cramped apartments will just have to feel our way around at night when we need to pee or let loose some logs. Guys, especially, will need to aim properly, otherwise they might end up making a mess of things. The Toilet Sensor Clip that you see here will clip onto your toilet tank, sporting soft blue LED lights that are powered by a trio of AAA batteries which will light up the moment it detects any movement. It is said to deliver the right amount of light so that you can navigate the bathroom without having to wake anyone up. Expect the Toilet Sensor Clip to retail for $15 a pop if you are interested.

QR codes seem to be all the rage these days, and you can even reveal a QR code by filling up a glass with the black liquid known as Guinness, but here we are with something radically different – Korean Emart has placed 3D QR code sculptures throughout the city of Seoul, where it will depend on the position of the sun as the QR code can only be scanned between noon and 1 pm every day, assuming there is no rain, of course. Those are one of the quieter periods at the store, so it is the right time for shoppers to receive discounts by scanning in the QR codes.

Known as “Sunny Sale” (how obvious!) Emart’s effort requires setting up a bunch of what is known as “shadow” QR codes, where it will depend on peak sunlight in order to view the QR code properly. Each successful scan will send you over to a dedicated home page that will put up special offers, with a coupon worth $12 thrown into the mix as well.

This rollout was a rather quiet one, where there is not much fanfare surrounding it. While the older sign-up process required you to sign-up for each of the services through the manual way, and Google’s streamlining process allows new users to be immediately equipped with a Gmail and Google+ account, the moment your Google account has been registered. Despite being launched before January, it took a fair amount of time for folks to catch up with it, and Blogger too, took their time in jumping on board this bandwagon for a new unified approach. (more…)

Of course, this is not official just yet, as the report hails from a Dutch site known as Tweakers.net, via Reddit – which claimed that Samsung actually had to do away with 600,000 back covers for the pebble blue Samsung Galaxy S3 due to an unknown production error. Talk about a massive destruction here, and for the superstitious, this might not be a good omen for the Galaxy S3′s start. At this point in time, it seems as though only some markets are affected as UK retailers still have the device in stock. Other areas, however, need to deal with this particular delay that has been touted to last right until June. The white colored Samsung Galaxy S3 remains unaffected of course, so you need not worry about coming up short when it comes to wanting one of these puppies for your own.

Of course, a digital rear-view mirror is not the newest piece of vehicle tech in the world at this point in time, but it is the first time a digital system like this sees action in a closed LMP sports prototype. After all, racing of any kind is a sight-response game, where around 95% of what a racer needs to know will arrive at the brain through the eyes.

Of course, there is additional feeling from the front end through the steering/bars/controls, while integrated sensors will be able to sense the pitch, roll and yaw. However, the eyes take top position when it comes to getting that “feeling”. The digital rear-view solution from Audi comprises of an AMOLED display and a lightweight, compact camera which will reside right behind the antennas on the roof.

For fans of the upcoming MMO game ‘The Secret World’ by Funcom, it looks like the launch date for the game has been slightly delayed from its initial launch date of June 19 to one that is just two weeks after it; on July 3. According to Funcom, the purpose of the delay in launching is to “place The Secret World in a more positive launch window”. While the developer did not clarify exactly what it meant by it, we can assume that it is intended to be beneficial to the game’s chance of success at the time of launching. In addition to that, Funcom detailed the remaining beta weekends that players who just can’t wait for the release can participate in.
Now that does sound insane, does it not? Of course, this is very much still speculation at this point in time, and it would not be too far of a shot for the GPU graphics processor to be based on NVIDIA’s Kepler architecture, which is the very same technology that keeps the GTX680 up and running, being the most recent video card from NVIDIA at this point in time. (more…)

The first ever commercial rocket capsule that was launched yesterday, successfully docked with the International Space Station (ISS). The endeavor which saw the docking of the Dragon capsule to the ISS, makes SpaceX the first privately owned company in history to achieve a feat like this. After the successful docking where cargo will be transferred from the capsule to the ISS by the astronauts aboard it, there is still a long way to go given the fact that the Dragon has to complete a re-entry into the earth’s atmosphere safely.

Have you ever been stuck in your home while the power is out and your smartphone is running low on juice? The first thing people tend to do is to break out the candles and start putting them all around the house so it not only looks extremely romantic, but it also gives you the essential capability to see what’s around you. Now however, there might be a way to use those candles along the laws of thermodynamics, and recharge your phone.

As we previously reported, earlier today, the Absinthe 2.0 untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1 was announced. However, if you already have a tethered jailbreak on your device you might want it to be untethered as well. Instead of going through the whole process again, you can apparently just install the Rocky Racoon tweak that is said to turn your tethered jailbreak into an untethered one. Rocky Racoon is a tweak that was released by the Chronic Dev Team which also had a hand in the development of the Absinthe 2.0 untethered jailbreak.
Google’s data showed that most of these links will send folks who click on them over to websites that sell pirated Microsoft software, so it makes plenty of sense for Microsoft to ask Google to kindly ensure such links end up in the relegation bin of history. It is rather interesting to note that a bunch of links that Microsoft requested Google to remove are still very much alive and kicking over at Microsoft’s very own Bing search engine. Talk about having the egg fall on your face moment! (more…)

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 2 range – the 7.0 and 10.1 models, are decent Android-powered tablets on their own, and they will now be on the receiving end of an additional 50GB of free storage from Dropbox for the first year. Once the year passes by (and boy, does time fly these days. Ever wondered whether we are about to usher in the end of the world?), you will then be able to enjoy 2GB of storage space for any free account, which is a far cry from the 25 times more space you had previously, but then again, 2GB is still better than nothing. Should you still use the tablet for a second year (which means it is entering its third year of service), another 3GB of storage space will be made available for your use. Loyalty does pay, doesn’t it? I suppose this attraction will capture the imagination of just a select few, unless the economy has hit you really, really hard, and you do not foresee changing your tablet three years from now.

Basically, this version of the Absinthe jailbreak targets all iOS-powered devices that run on iOS 5.1.1. It is also super popular because this is the first jailbreak that is made available for the recently released “new iPad”, or the “iPad 3″ as it was known before a formal introduction. Needless to say, this particularly unique position of Absinthe 2.0 has made it the most successful release from the Chronic Dev Team to date. (more…)

There have been many rumors surrounding the possibility of Apple launching a HDTV of their own. So far there has been no evidence (iPhones and iPads usually have their components “leaked” ahead of its launch) apart from a quote in the Steve Jobs biography by Walter Isaacson to suggest that such a device exists. However it seems that many do believe that the Apple TV is for real and according to Piper Jaffray analyst, Gene Munster, he believes that Apple could be unveiling the device this December and could see it start shipping next year.

Based on Apple’s launches and product availability, this does seem a little out of the ordinary as Apple typically makes their products available about a week after it has been announced, unless of course Munster is talking about a end of December launch and a early January release. He goes on to state that the Apple TV will range in size from 42” to 55” and will cost anywhere between $1,500 to $2,000, a considerable premium over televisions of other brands and in those sizes. Will his prediction come true? We guess we will have to wait and see, but what do you guys think?

If you thought that the gestures and flicks of the wand in the Harry Potter movie and story books would be a great idea if it came onto consoles like the Xbox Kinect, Wii or PlayStation Move, you’re in luck as Eurocom Interactive as announced Harry Potter for Kinect. Like we just said, the Kinect version of Harry Potter will allow players to play the game using voice commands along with gestures used to cast spells amongst other things. Players will also be able to scan their faces and create a unique witch or wizard and will get to fly on broomsticks, participate in Quidditch matches, purchase a wand from Ollivanders, get put into a house via the Sorting Hat and ultimately battle Lord Voldemort – oops, we meant he-who-must-not-be-named! So if you’re a huge fan and you’re a bit bummed that the series is finally over, fret not as you will be able to relive it this fall. In the meantime check out the gameplay trailer in the video above to get an idea of what you might be able to expect.

As it turns out, the folks at Xperia Gamer were spot on with their speculation as Sony has since come forward with an official statement of their own regarding Android 4.0 updates for the Xperia devices. According to the company, the confirmed list of 2011 devices that will receive the Android 4.0 update includes the Xperia arc, Xperia neo, Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman. The update is expected to roll out starting from next week.
Milk.ly is a peer to peer marketplace that was just launched by its co-founder, the former head of Display Platform at Yahoo EMEA Sal Matteis in London. The service which is backed by pan-European startup accelerator Seedcamp is similar to TaskRabbit, Viatask and Agent Anything that is available in the US. Milk.ly allows people to outsource even the simplest of errands such as, “I need 4 stamps – will pay $5” right up to a wide range of small jobs, to a network that comprises of members that are known as ‘runners’ or ‘milkmen’. The service makes its money by taking a commission amounting to 15% of each transaction that appears on its marketplace.

We’ve heard of Jeffrey Stephenson and his previous creations of custom PCs using wood primarily. This time around, it seems that Stephenson has added yet another creation to his repertoire with the Mondrian; which is a mini PC inspired by a Dutch artist called Piet Mondrian. According to Stephenson, the most famous Mondrian design is the Partridge Family bus from the 70s TV show and in addition to that, the design was also implemented on a Yves Saint Laurent dress from its Fall 1965 collection.

A few patent applications filed by Apple were discovered by the folks over at PatentlyApple and they apparently show a 3D version of the Apple web browser Safari that will allegedly allow its users to stack bookmarks, emails, docs and applications in 3D forms. With that said however, computer usage in 3D doesn’t seem to be anywhere near, but an insight into the minds of Apple’s engineers like this certainly is interesting. Instead of wearing the glasses one usually associates with 3D interfaces, the patent indicates how other existing Apple patents can be used in a GUI to overlap and stack elements and content.
