I’ve Got that Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy…

This was my first year at Camp Oasis.  I heard about Camp Oasis from my uncle who works at OHM.  He said it was a lot of fun because there are kids from all over South Florida.  I was excited and nervous about meeting all those new people, but I was not thinking about meeting God! I have known about God most of my life and since I have been coming to Open House Ministries for the past 3 years, I have learned a lot more.  But at Camp Oasis, I finally decided that I wanted to follow Jesus Christ for my whole life.  When I think about how Jesus came into my heart, it makes me so happy – but for some reason, I keep crying!  I know these are tears of JOY!  Thank you to all the people who helped us get to Camp Oasis!  You made a difference in my life!

This FREE family-friendly event will feature the creative works of our children and youth with youth on hand to share about their work.  We will host a silent and live auction as well as Be Your Own Artist sessions for children and adults with local established artists.  Debuting at the event is our collaborative project, Art that Feeds, where artists put art on a plate to help put food on the plates of Overtown youth through creating original works of art on acrylic plates featured in our silent auction.

The garden has existed since our Fall City Serve & we are still maintaining it with the help of awesome volunteers & specially this morning, the students of Somerset Gables Elementary school…. Who helped us plant peas, carrots, turnips, and radishes! We had a great morning – check out some of the photos below

The rain kept us from working outside but we enjoyed hanging out together inside and helping the OHM library get organized! “UBC people are unbelievable. They asked for large trash bags and made raincoats. Never complained, worked through cloud burst after cloud burst.
