Before you lease space, you should understand how the space is heated and cooled and how you can control the temperature in your space. It is a lot easier to understand how an HVAC system works before you move in, than battle the issue for the entire term of your lease. Frequently tenants don't ask about HVAC control, only to regret not getting the information later.<div class="feedflare">

Landlords are business people just like you and they have a vested interest in keeping their property leased. An inventory of vacant retail spaces in a down economy is not something a landlord wants to have. In all probability, he would have a very difficult time re-leasing your space if you closed up, and he would probably have to reduce the rent to compete with all the other vacant space sure to come on the market shortly. If you need an adjustment in your rent to stay in business, now is the time to have a conversation with your landlord about a rent reduction.<div class="feedflare">
