I learned about them hiking the Tour du Mont Blanc. On long hikes, you discover new points of failure. Now if I develop a little hot spot, I pull them on under my hiking socks. They have saved trips for me. I have tried the synthetic version, but prefer the merino for comfort.

Also Yosemite park has incredible multi day hiking opportunities and is not that far from Vegas!

Not to be too harsh on our host, I think the lesson is we all have our strengths, even if we sometimes compare ourselves poorly to the strengths of others. To be clear, I sometimes admire and envy Tynan’s work ethic and travels, then I realize how fortunate I am to have the experience for hiking without the issues he experienced. Still, a reminder to go outside our comfort zones.
