Retail work has a way of exposing exactly how strange customers can be when nobody’s watching too closely.

One employee, doing routine rounds at a dollar store, discovered a bag of raw chicken tucked inside the soda fridge and quickly realized someone had been using it as personal cold storage during their shopping trip.

When staff started removing it, the owner showed up angry, insisting she just wanted to keep her meat cold while she browsed the aisles.

That same shift, another customer was caught testing hairbrushes directly on her own hair, then calmly placing them back on the shelf for someone else to eventually buy.

Used to work in a store that sells everything for a dollar.

One day, the employee noticed something unusual — and quite gross.

Was doing my usual rounds around the store putting things back where they belong when I noticed a bag in our soda fridge.

Upon closer inspection it was literal raw chicken from the grocery store over.

Of course, a clueless customer was to blame.

The lady who put it there came to claim her meat as we were taking it out of the fridge, angry we were about to throw it out.

She said she wanted to keep it cold while she was shopping. She didn’t understand why that was a problem.

She had wrecked havoc on other parts of the store too.

mThat same day, had someone testing out our hairbrushes and simply putting them back when she was done brushing her hair.

This employee could hardly believe their eyes.

WHY PEOPLE, why would you think that’s okay?!

It’s a kind gestures when your besties all come forward and offer to help out with your wedding day. Though some can really just make you wish you said no. It’s the thought that counts though…right?

What would you do if your most wildly incompetent friend offered their services on your big day? One woman recently shared a crazy example of this from her own life on Reddit. Here’s what happened.

AITA for not driving a friend to a city to ensure bride’s wedding cake isn’t ruined?

My(24F) friend Katy(25F) has been trying to launch a wedding cake business.

She started advertising using stock images and when she was talking to some people they asked if she took a course and she said yes.

I asked her about it afterwards and she said she hasn’t taken any really but didn’t want to admit that to people so they trust her and hire her.

That’s…a choice.

She’s done some very small cake examples since then.

To me they’re not professional quality or wedding cake worthy but maybe if she’s offering cheap prices to get started it’s justified and she can improve with practice.

You gotta start somewhere.

Our mutual friend Lily (26F) is getting married tomorrow and since the start of the year Katy pressured her into letting her do her wedding cake.

She didn’t so much as ask but just tell her she’ll do it and said she’ll only charge for ingredients and materials.

Lily is a bit of a pushover so ended up saying okay without any discussion.

Uncomfortable to say the least.

Katy said her goal was to use this to kick start her business with a cake she’s made for a real wedding.

Yesterday evening with one day left to go till the wedding Katy asked me to drive her the next day to get specific ingredients for the cake that she can only source from another city.

She knew I had taken a day off and whilst Katy drives too she refuses to drive out of the local area as she’s scared.

She perhaps should have thought that through then.

I said I can’t as I specially took the day off to prepare for the wedding, everything I need to pick up for my outfit, wedding present, get my hair done etc.

I also expressed shock that with 1 day to go she still needed to source essential ingredients for the cake.

Katy got angry pulling a face and said “Tut why didn’t you get all your stuff done already then?” as if I was really disorganized and had messed up.

Even if she did mess up, it’s not really her business.

I said I didn’t need to get it done by now, I’ve taken a day off specially to do it all.

Katy said if I didn’t take her then the cake was going to be ruined, I said I’m sorry but I can’t and she’s known for months about this cake she was desperate to make.

I spent the day getting my errands done, then this evening we all met for a pre-wedding gathering.

This friend sounds positively exhausting.

When Katy was coming towards me she had an angry look and said: “I had to go on the train by myself” as if I made her suffer, and how it was really hard.

How she almost wasn’t able to make it and it drastically cut down the time she had to work on the cake.

She then looked away as if she can’t bear to be around me.

Millions of people take the train every single day.

She’s since expressed to people that I wasn’t willing to help ensure the wedding cake wasn’t ruined for the bride.

I know I didn’t do anything wrong, but when she framed it like that, it did give me pause.

That’s what manipulative people are best at!

Should I have actually dropped my stuff and still done it for the sake of ensuring things weren’t ruined for the bride?

I didn’t ask how the cake has gone and I don’t know what to expect tomorrow.

I (28F) live with my fiancé (31M) in a rented apartment in the city center. It’s 75 square meters, modern, in a good location, and 15 minutes by bike to work – perfect for us.

My parents can’t understand this. For them, paying rent is ”money down the drain.” According to them, you have to own a house, otherwise you’re not a real adult, and of course, we need a house for the kids.

Because apparently, kids cannot survive in a rental appartement. We do not even have kids, but we would like to in the future. We are not trying currently though.

Oh brother.

Now the part where I might be the AH: We had a huge argument over dinner at the weekend.

My father had found a nice house on the countryside, not far from their place. A friend of his wanted to sell it and he would give it to us at a very reduced price (it was truly cheap, but I didn’t see the condition of the house), because he is lifelong friends with my father and “young people should move back to the countryside to keep it alive.”

But we don’t want a house right now, we want to stay flexible and independent.

Fair.

We also do not want to move to the countryside, cause everything is literally DEAD there. There is nothing after 7 PM, no supermarkets are open, no buses run. I love going out for dinner or to the movies or maybe just to a nice café that is open late or a bar.

But my mother just says, “When you have children, you’ll want a house and a garden anyway. Kids don’t thrive in a concrete jungle! You’re acting completly egoistic. Your father tried so hard to get that offer so low!”

The complete disregard of my and my fiancés perspective on life made me burst. I got loud, I cried and I left.

Wow.

My parents now act as if I am lazy or irresponsible just because we do not want to buy a random house in a village at the end of the world.

However, we are saving money, have reserves, and could theoretically buy in a few years if prices change.

We could buy a house we would really want then.

Sounds responsible to me.

I really feel bad for shouting at my parents and for running away, but I really had to get out.

I haven’t spoken to them since, but they keep messaging me (despite my fiancé telling them, that we need time to discuss the matter).

AITA because I do not want to buy a cheap house?

The trash wars continue, people!

In case you haven’t been paying attention, let me fill you in.

There are a whole lot of folks out there who think that the accepted rules of trash cans and who they belong to don’t apply to them.

And, as you can imagine, that causes a lot of issues!

Take a look at what this woman is dealing with and see what you think about her situation.

Neighbors keep using our trash bin.

“I own my home.

When it’s trash day we take our cans out Sunday night and we share this spot with the people in the triplex behind us so there’s like 4 trash cans and 4 recycle bins every week out there.

Hmmm…

Someone from the triplex keeps putting there trash in our can.

We’ve been here since 2020 and it’s always happened, sometimes we are so busy working 12 hours and doing house stuff we don’t go get our can right away on Monday, we’ll go get it like Wednesday and by then they’ve already filled it to the top like they own it.

Also pulling it up right away doesn’t do much since we went Monday morning last week to pull it and IT ALREADY HAD ONE OF THEIR BAGS IN IT….

Now what?

I genuinely don’t know what to do.

It’s kind of a big deal since they fill it to the top and we are stuck with like 5 bags of stinky trash lingering in our kitchen since there’s nowhere to put them.

“I reported my neighbor for causing a disturbance at the apartment complex and after stomping on the floor for the first time after half a year of tolerating the nonsense (I stomped because I had just given birth and my hormones were crashing and I hadn’t slept in 4 days), I snapped because the neighbor was singing for hours and started to the moment I finally felt I could finally sleep.

Ugh…this sucks…

Now they are retaliating by slamming their entry door, balcony door and window every day they are home and they do it multiple times in a row.

I’ve had many packages come to my apartment complex with no issues, many have sent gifts for my baby. But once I reported my neighbor, my packages for my baby have been getting stolen this past week.

Management even set up cameras recently to prevent theft, I asked if they could review the footage to see who is taking my packages.

They won’t do it.

Everything in America feels so performative. Nothing is done to help the people, things only exist to help those in charge.

She’s fired up about this!

Cameras are there only to protect the apartment complex. I’m so angry. The neighbors have been causing myself and others so many issues and they won’t do anything.

Nothing.

Even with a police report that stated the neighbors are in fact breaking apartment rules means absolutely nothing! They instead want me to enter the neighbor’s apartment and take photo evidence.

What the hell? I’m so mad.

“I was recently asked to give a talk at the recent student club meeting company meeting by our team chairman.

This man is self absorbed and narcissistic (I know my parents’ type) and has a habit of saying, as Chairman, we won’t do this, as Chairman I veto that, etc.

This sounds very rude.

As I’m giving my speech, he starts disagreeing with me from behind out loud in front of everyone. “No, don’t say it like this – say it to that person instead”.

This looks weird and is a bit humiliating.

Anyway, after the talk, I tell him – look, if you asked me to give a speech – just let me talk and finish, and if you have changes you want to add, I am 100% receptive but let’s talk about them after everyone leaves not disagree in front of people.

He replies, “You’re imagining things! What you’re saying never happened. I was just making suggestions. Remember, this is the company talk, not your talk, and as Chairman I’m responsible for everything and everyone here. It’s my head on the block. I’ll see you next week! “

I wrote my resignation message in group chat that same day. I said I was leaving due to his communication and ego, that he didn’t need to keep calling himself Chairman, leadership is earned not freely given and nobody cared about his position and that he should learn from his ego or see it get shut down later.

He wrote back saying that ‘(his) intentions as Chairman were only ever to help me, that he had no intention to undermine me but that my resignation letter was hurtful and detrimental to his mental health. He said he wouldn’t file a harassment or embarrassment claim though, because still he considered me a good friend’ (We aren’t friends).

I received a letter (written by a someone I thought was a friend) that the team had voted to ban me from future events for “humiliation” re my resignation letter and for not creating an “inclusive environment”.

Family trips are meant to be fun for little children not dramatic.

The following story is about a woman who chose not to invite her sister-in-law on her son’s Hollywood Make-A-Wish trip.

The reason was that her husband didn’t really like her SIL’s partner.

I did not extend the invite to my SIL, but she invited herself later on, putting us in an awkward position.

“One of the decisions I regret most was moving in next to my in laws.

I (20F) and my husband (23M, we will call him D) moved into a rental next to his father’s house. We will call his father T and T’s girlfriend we will call A.

It all started the literal day we moved in (about a year and a half ago). We had been living in our car (T and A knew this) for a few months. I had to work on our move in day, so T offered to help my husband carry our stuff into the house.

Well…you’re right…

A stood there and told D, “Wow. Looks like you live in your car” in a snobby tone. Kind of hit hard because…. Well. We were living in the car.

Fast forward to June of this year. There was a situation in which D’s car got towed (we wanted it to be gone, we didn’t care, we knew it was happening).

T called D and we all went outside. A started yelling at me because apparently having one vehicle (I’m a stay at home mom with an infant) makes me a bad wife and mom.

What is wrong with these people?!?!

She called me fat, etc.

Said D shouldn’t have gotten a new job (making double what his previous job with T paid him) and that’s why the car was getting towed etc. I mean, any competent person knows it takes months for a car to be taken. He started the new job literally like 2 days prior.

A few weeks after that, I noticed the amount of security cameras on their porch (small porch) went from 2 to 4.

T also installed a camera facing our fenced backyard/back porch area and directly into my kitchen window. We tried texting him about it, no answer. We decided to just leave it be and entirely covered the window.

Today, after the trash went, I moved my trash can back where it goes. I put it at the edge of my house line (in town, so the houses are connected but you can clearly see where my house ends and his house starts). I went inside.

Talk about being passive aggressive…

T came home and shoved it up against my steps. I don’t put it against my steps because when I walk out with the baby, I can’t get down the steps. Duh. So I scooted it back.

He came outside and threw my trash can in the sidewalk in front of our houses. D went back outside to confront him about it and T yelled that he doesn’t want the trash to stink up his house.

We’ve lived here for a year. It hasn’t been an issue before now. He has his recycling bin directly next to our trash can. He also has his 2 garbage bins on the other side of his porch (so, his trash doesn’t stink but apparently mine does?)

He also had put a decently sized piece of styrofoam in my trash can when I went on vacation over 4th of July. (I don’t have cameras but it’s a relatively quiet street so I know it was him).

T and A also park all 4 of their vehicles in front of our houses and it blocks the street to see when I pull out of my driveway. I’ve almost gotten t-boned a couple times with my baby in the car because I can’t see.

He also will park up onto the curb to be “out of the way”.

When I have guests over they have to park at the bank across from us, and when I get any groceries delivered I have to tell them the same.

Why Can’t You Set Up My Computer Anymore?

“Part 1: Back in March we had a new executive come to the lab to pick up their laptop and get their software set up.

The guy who was handling her ticket took a look at what needed to be done and told her it was going to take a while.

When he really got into the process, he realized it was going to take longer than he expected. So he walked over to her and told her that and gave her the option to either stay or go somewhere else.

It really was going to take awhile.

She opted to stay.

So he got a second chair, brought it over to her, and told her she might as well put her legs up while she was waiting.

Take that as you want.

She apparently took it the bad way.

Whoa!

She waited until he was finished setting up her computer, went down to HR, and demanded he be fired.

The following Monday, mid day, he was escorted out.

We were thrown for a loop, because between him getting fired, and one of the other techs getting promoted, we were now down two senior techs.

His former coworkers had to change their processes.

It also didn’t help that the guy managed our backup server.

We had to immediately change how we did things.

Including shutting down the backup server and relying only on Microsoft OneDrive, and not allowing malingerers stay in the lab while we were working on their stuff.

This sounds ominious.

Part 2: Yesterday I get a ticket for a lady to come pickup her new laptop at 1:00 pm.

I responded back that we had it available and it was ready for pick up.

My manager contacts me telling me to treat her with white gloves and to watch what I am saying to her.

I’m like, okaaaaaaay.

What the hell was going on here?

An hour or two later she contacts me back on an email to the entire IT team asking if an accounting program and a bunch of other software was installed on her computer.

I respond back. “No. Your computer was set up using the standard Autopilot protocol. The only software it comes with is a standard Office suite. You have to install any other software.”

My manager, messages me back, almost losing his mind. “I have to remind you to treat her with kid gloves.”

I’m like what the heck dude? I am not saying anything that isn’t standard procedure.

Uh-oh!

I go to lunch, and when I get back, one of new guys tells me he overheard manager Teams-ing the other senior tech and told him she is the chick that got the other tech fired.

Which was critical information that wasn’t passed on to me.

So when she messaged me back complaining about how she put in a ticket to have all this software installed, and she previously was able to have it installed for her, it took everything in my body not to respond back, “Yeah. The reason we can’t do it anymore is because you got the last guy who did it for you fired.”

He had to be nice about it…

What I did say was, “Due to changes in corporate security policies after March (which is when he was fired), we are no longer allowed to set up end user computers. They must be set up using the Autopilot process by the end user.”

I then sent her a link to the Autopilot process webpage.

The kicker is, she never showed up.

She finally messaged me around 2:30 and told me that she wouldn’t be able to come in and that she is only available after 1 pm.

I just responded back that we are there every weekday until 4:30 pm and she is welcome to come in any day she is available to sign into her computer so we can do any additional setup work.”

My mom lives about 3.5 hours from me, so as you can imagine I don’t get to spend weekends with her very often, and most often when I see her, I drive to her with my husband or my sister (26) and I meet my mom in the middle somewhere.

We all live far away from one another.

She came down this past Friday to see me and stay at my house until Sunday evening.

On Friday, once she arrived things were nice.

I drove her over an hour to the city as she needed to speak with a specific jeweller about an alteration, and drove her back (and for context, we’re in the middle of a heatwave in the UK right now, which I’m really struggling with, she knows I’ve been very unwell recently).

Mom seems a bit controlling.

Later I took her out for dinner and paid for the bill, to which my husband thanked me, but she did not.

We chatted for the rest of the night and went to bed.

The following morning, I woke up to her franticly cleaning my kitchen. I said “good morning, how are you”, and received no reply, just a ‘look’.

I asked again what was wrong, and she complained that my house is filthy and disgusting and needs to be sorted.

Her friends wouldn’t be likely to tell her if the house wasn’t clean.

Now, I have checked with friends who have visited, and not one person has said my house is filthy, just that it doesn’t look like a show home, because it’s lived in and there’s the odd bit of limescale and dust where dust tends to fall.

We have two cats, so even after vacuuming, the house is never spotless, especially as they’re moulting a lot in the heatwave.

Ok, so the cleanliness is obviously a real issue.

I said to her I know it’s not perfect and I’m sorry.

For more context, I’ve been suffering with severe depression for the last year and a half, which she knows about, and this has made it difficult for me to focus on my house, but my husband works hard to pick up my slack thankfully.

I took offence to the fact that my husband had cleaned the house before she came over, while he was supposed to be working from home, and it still wasn’t good enough.

I put it behind me and calmed down.

If you know you are going to have guests, you should have food in the house.

Later on she asked for directions to a pharmacist as she needed some medication. Taking this literally (as I tend to do, while she doesn’t understand), I gave her directions.

She came back with butter for toast so we could eat. She sat and chatted for a few minutes, but as soon as my husband left the room, she made me feel bad for not having anything in for her breakfast.

(We didn’t have anything because the butter had melted from the heat, and we had tried to get butter the previous day, but couldn’t as the fridges at the supermarket were broken).

What did she say that was unkind (assuming those complaints were accurate)?

I asked her to speak to me calmly, before everything came out of the woodwork. Apparently, I had made her feel so unwelcome by not offering her a drink the whole time, by not having anything in for breakfast, and for having a filthy house.

I asked her again to be kind and just speak to me civilly, but that I won’t entertain her being rude and disrespectful in my own home.

She doubled down that she might as well just leave.

I said if that’s what you want to do, then you can. So she did.

Mom is right to only address her concerns to her daughter, and not to the husband.

I feel like this whole situation feels very blown out of proportion and it should not cause a mother to 1) get upset and angry at their child (of 30y/o), nor to storm out in a huff and paint me as a villain.

Also, in this argument I mentioned that there are two of us who run this house, yet she conveniently chose moments my husband was not in the room to bring these things up.

She was upset that I would ‘blame’ him, when that wasn’t the case I was making, but that neither of us did what she’d want but only I’m getting an earful.

I agree with Mom here.

She said “he’s not my son”.

His family have always treated me like part of their family, but my mom refused to meet my husband (then boyfriend) until we were 20 (we’ve been together since I was 14) because she didn’t agree I should have a boyfriend.

I have apologised to her multiple times since for my role in it and how I reacted when I could have been calmer, but have received no apology, neither inclination that she accepts any responsibility for what happened, despite even mentioning to her that I think the blame falls with both of us.

Would anyone else accept this? She’s made me feel terrible for letting her go and has already tried to twist the story to my sister. AITAH?

It seems that Mom is frustrated with how her daughter is living and is trying to help her to change, but the daughter is getting very defensive.

I (18F) have this classmate (18M) I’ve barely talked to, like twice ever.

During our first exam, I completely screwed up and got a 13/20.

Later, the teacher put up an anonymous graph showing everyone’s scores during class.

And this guy started loudly going, “This is so easy,” “How did anyone even get a 13? Just give up, bro.”

He had no idea it was me since it was anonymous, but it still kind of hurt and made me study a lot harder for the next one.

This student couldn’t focus because her classmate kept coughing and sneezing.

So, the second exam comes around. It was only 30 minutes long, so every second mattered for me.

This guy sits right behind me, and the entire time he was coughing and sneezing nonstop.

I could not focus, I was already stressing about time, and it just kept throwing me off more and more.

Eventually, I asked the teacher if I could move seats.

But instead of saying, “He’s coughing everywhere, and it’s messing with my focus,” I said I was cold because of the AC.

Then, she heard him bad-mouthing her because of what she did.

Honestly, not even sure why I lied, I think I just didn’t want to make it a whole awkward thing in front of everyone during a test.

I moved and finished the exam like normal. After class, I overheard him telling a friend that I was being a jerk.

And that he wants an apology for “embarrassing him in front of the class.”

This threw me off, because I never said his name, never explained anything to the teacher out loud, and just quietly moved seats.

I feel a little bad but also, I never said anything rude to him. I didn’t call him out. I just quietly switched seats. AITA?

I don’t see anything wrong with what OP did. In fact, it sounds like she chose the least confrontational way to deal with a distraction. While her classmate may have felt embarrassed, she didn’t publicly criticize or identify him. So I don’t think an apology is necessary.

Well, this situation definitely wasn’t handled the right way.

In fact, I’d even say that it was straight-up DUMB.

And I have a sneaking suspicion that you’re gonna agree with me!

In today’s story, a worker explained why he got pretty ticked off about how his manager handled his leave of absence from work.

My job called my emergency contacts and threatened to send police.

“I’ve been out of work pending a leave of absence.

I’ve been calling/emailing my supervisor every day like I’m supposed to until my leave of absence is approved/denied.

Today at 12:30 pm, my supervisor left me a voicemail saying she hasn’t been getting my voicemails and emails are not protocol for calling out.

She also stated that she’s been having issues with her phone system so it’s possibly the reason she hasn’t gotten my voicemails.

Note: she’s told me directly that leaving a voicemail if I’m not going to be is okay and I don’t necessarily have to speak directly to her for confirmation.

Uh oh…

Well apparently she also called and left a voicemail for one of my emergency contacts at 12:30 pm (same time she left one for me).

In her voicemail she said she would have to send police out for a welfare check if she doesn’t hear back soon.

I immediately called her and left a voicemail then emailed her on our company email, CC’d her boss as well.

Come on!

Around 1:50 pm she calls my other emergency contact and again threatens to send police if she doesn’t hear back soon.

This emergency contact is my mother who is neurotic.

She immediately calls me freaking out.

So I called my supervisor and actually got through to her this time but of course she’s in a meeting and will call me back later, also calling police is “protocol”.

I went and sent an email to her supervisors supervisor because her supervisor is currently out of office.

This is so dumb…

I tell them basically how I feel about being threatened with police, how I was recently diagnosed with depression and anxiety, (literally yesterday), how my emergency contacts suffer from their own anxiety etc and it’s not okay.

At this point, I don’t know if I’m comfortable returning to work under her supervision.

There are other supervisors I can transfer to who work in the same office/same department/responsibilities.

I think it’s time I look for a different job.”

Husband helps me with every baby feed. He prepares the food and cleans up the kitchen.

I change the diaper and feed the baby. Normally, my husband stays with me and keeps me company. He talks to the baby before we all go to bed.

However, tonight my husband was really tired. He decided that I had to do everything myself. He said he would go to sleep.

This woman does most of all the baby-related duties despite having to work all day.

Now, I know that probably sounds reasonable, but I work all day. I supervise the baby all day.

My husband doesn’t work at all. He does all the cooking and cleaning.

Most of the baby-related stuff falls to me. I bathe the baby. He at least helps me fill the bathtub.

My husband begrudgingly does one feed while I work. He does it by himself. He leaves me to change the diaper after the feed anyway.
