When you move into a new neighborhood, it is good to be friendly with people, but it can be even better to just try to mind your own business.

What would you do if you were trying to mind your own business but then your elderly neighbor guilted you into taking over the local online forums that he created?

That is what happened to the guy in this story, and as soon as he agreed, the elderly neighbor started harassing and stalking him endlessly, so now he doesn’t know what to do.

My (M) 70 year old neighbor (M) is stalking me

I have been harassed and targeted by my elderly neighbor for the better part of a year.

Lots of drama in the neighborhood.

When I moved into the community about 3 years ago, I joined the community forum to stay up to date on information in the neighborhood.

This forum was run by my elderly neighbor at the time and I noticed that many of my neighbors were bickering and fighting in the forum. People were taking photos inside other neighbors windows who were “in violation of the HOA rules”, reporting landscapers and contractors to ice, and generally encroaching on peoples privacy.

Keeping out of neighborhood drama is a good idea.

I chose to do nothing and mind my own business. It’s my first home and I wanted to just keep my head down. That is until a couple years later when I was approached by the forum manager, let’s call him “lucifer”.

Lucifer told me other neighbors had been pressuring him to transfer ownership of the forum to someone more tech savvy. I told him I wasn’t interested.

He then emailed me personally and gave this whole story about how he doesn’t have much longer to live and needs to entrust the forum admin role to someone he believes in.

Wow, things took a turn fast.

I finally caved and said ok. Because I felt bad. This was my biggest mistake of 2025. We came up with some new rules that we both agreed on and the forum was now in my hands.

Within a month of transferring the ownership of the forum to me, Lucifer and his family began to post things on the group that were highly disturbing. Lucifer’s daughter, under her mother’s email, posted 10 year old videos of Lucifer verbally abusing her and calling her a *****, and other things I won’t say here.

Keeping their family issues off the forum makes sense.

I think she did this in an attempt to appeal to the neighbors and show she was being victimized by him. According to neighbors, they have no money and rely on him financially, so they can’t leave. This is none of my business of course. But just to help you understand the situation, I think it’s important here.

Obviously, I sympathized with her but the content was highly distressing so I took it down from the group, emailed her directly, and briefly sympathized with her letting her know that she could not share this sort of content in the group, but I would be available to get her in touch with local resources if needed.

Mind you, when something is posted on the forum, it also gets forwarded to the subscribers email. And of course, I cannot delete peoples emails, nor would I want to.

Why do some people want to air their dirty laundry in public.

Lucifer then starts to send a barrage of messages to the forum, and me directly, letting me and everyone know his daughter is insane and demanding to remove the content immediately.

I explained everything above to him, and also let him know he had received a warning for using profanity in the group and targeting other residents. Which was actually only half related to the video that was posted.

He was literally just doing other things on top of this whole situation like cursing out other neighbors. Most of this behavior I hadn’t seen until after the rights were transferred over to me.

These people have too much time on their hands.

We go back and forth because he didn’t understand the concept of me not being able to delete emails. This led to him cursing me out via email, and eventually knocking on my door.

I’m mad at this point. He finally understands after repeated explanations and things move on for about 7 days. Mind you, other neighbors are continuing to ramp things up and, in my opinion, try to test me.

Every problematic person over the past year has been 70+ years old. Not trying to be, like, ageist… but come on guys. There is a pattern.

Just ban him permanently.

A week or so goes by, and he then gets on the forum and tells everyone that I’m “up to something and secretly working with the HOA board” which I’m not. I let him know that if he kept doing this I would have to remove him from posting privileges for a couple weeks.

He proceeded to email me profanities, and so, I removed him for a couple weeks. I added him back to the group after two weeks, that morning, he starts right where he left off and continues to send me insults and weirdly threatening “African proverbs”.

He is a white dude. Whatever that’s worth. Doesn’t really matter to me but it’s just bizarre.

Good, no reason to put up with this.

At this point I’m like look man, if I see this mess in my inbox again I’m just going to take you down from posting all together. You’re distracting me from my job and targeting me. So he obliges me and continues 10 minutes later, and I remove him from posting permanently.

At this point it only gets worse and I just stop replying all together, told him I would block him but honestly I didn’t in case I needed evidence in the future.

He is really off his rocker.

This guy, Lucifer, will watch when my car comes and goes, he will stalk me on Facebook, and send me insults there, calling me a little punk, bad person, pathetic dictator, weaselly little jerk.

He will send out email blasts to the neighbors making up stories about me, and how I am evil and out to get him. He finally ended up banging on my door yelling and calling me a little **********.

So I finally just called the cops. They came over and warned him to stop contacting me. To which he just continued doing the same stuff.

Getting a restraining order is a smart move.

I think I’m either going to get a temporary protection order or call a lawyer. Not really sure yet. But this is by far the worst neighbor I could possibly have next to me (two doors down).

This is the first time I’ve owned a home, and I really just wanted to mind my own business and should have never accepted his offer. He clearly has nothing better to do.

He has no job, no money, and this forum was clearly his hobby and he couldn’t handle giving it up and I became the enemy through no fault of my own.

This is not really healthy.

I feel like I have no privacy. This guy watches everything I do. He has made me miss meetings for work so that I could handle police matters.

My parents are worried about me and it’s the first thing they ask about when they visit. My friends in the neighborhood are also concerned.

Who could blame him.

I want to stop moderating the group and just let it rot, which I tend to do sometimes. Because it is stressful.

But I’m not giving it back to him and subjecting the rest of the community to his antics, and no one else wants to step up.

Putting up with people like this only emboldens them and makes them even worse.

My dad is the middle of 3 boys, and there’s about a 2-yr age gap between him and his brothers.

His older brother was fairly quiet, but dad and his younger brother, Tom, would often go out of their way to antagonize the heck out of each other and try to get the other in trouble.

His brother sounds really annoying.

So one day, when Dad was about 12, he was in the kitchen making himself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

As he was working on the peanut butter side, Tom came up and stood next to him, observing silently.

Then after a minute, he said the unthinkable: “I dare you to shove that in my face.”

He tried to ignore his brother…at first.

Dad didn’t respond. He didn’t so much as glance up as he silently continued to work on his sandwich. He scooped a second, particularly generous, helping of peanut butter out of the jar and spread it on the heavily-buttered bread.

Having gotten no response to his challenge, Tom repeated, “I da–”

The rest of the words were lost as Dad suddenly shoved the bread –fully laden with creamy, gooey peanut butter– smack in the middle of Tom’s smirking, unsuspecting face, and (literally) rubbed it in for good measure.

It’s been over 55 years since this happened, and to this day, Dad has absolutely no idea what the hell possessed his brother to say that. But inside, 12-year-old Dad is SO happy that he did.

Rigid travel policies become expensive when managers ignore cheaper alternatives and force employees into unsuitable arrangements.

This federal worker repeatedly requested a lower-cost airline with enough space, but the new approver insisted the contracted carrier was mandatory.

Instead of squeezing into coach again, he documented the health impact and selected an allowable business-class exception.

The budget argument changed immediately.

Not letting pick my own airline to fly…enjoy paying for my business class seat on the contracted airline.

So, as a federal employee, when we fly, we have to book our plane tickets with the locally contracted airline.

However, our union agreement AND other federal travel regs/guidelines state an employee can fly ANY airline of their choice as long as the price is equal to or cheaper than the contracted airline.

My first two training trips to the midwest, I flew with Airline Z because I’ve been a frequent flier with them for 15+ years.

They offer plenty of leg room, their planes are newer and bigger, and seats are wide enough to be comfortable.

The first two trips, their price was cheaper than the contracted airline. I made my orders, booked my tickets with Airline Z and everything was approved. Easy done! Then it wasn’t.

The new manager denied his flight booking with Airline Z.

July 2017, it was going to be my third trip to the midwest. I did my orders, and booked my flight with Airline Z.

The price was slightly cheaper than the contracted airline price, so I figured “who doesn’t want to save money?” So I sent everything for approval.

Well…the new approving manager (AM) denied my orders! I called her and asked why were my orders denied? She said, “You didn’t book your ticket with the contracted airline.”

I explained that I’ve flown with two other times with Airline Z, the price had always been cheaper than the contracted airline and per the union agreement, my orders shouldn’t have been denied.

She goes on to say “Well…I wouldn’t have approved them then, and I’m not approving them now. Redo your orders.”

His seat on the approved airline was so cramped.

Okay, so I redid my orders with the contracted airline. Again, The price was slightly higher than Airline Z, but I do what I am told.

When I arrived at the gate, I noticed the plane that the contracted airline was using was smaller than Airline Z. I was hoping it was as cramped as it looked, but sure enough, when I got in, it immediately felt cramped!

At 6’1’’, my head was a few inches from hitting the roof of the plane. And being “ slightly” bulky, the seat I sat in was narrow and extremely uncomfortable!

If I raised the arm rests, my thighs spilled over to the other passenger’s comfort zone. Good thing the seat beside me was empty for this trip. My knees were literally hitting the seat of the passenger in front of me!

I somehow managed to grabbed my phone out of my pocket and take a picture of my legs and knees and showed how cramped and uncomfortable I was. It was the longest 3 hour flight ever!

As for the return flight, it was the same circumstance as the departure flight…except I had someone next to me who was also “slightly bulky.”

I pulled out my phone again and painfully took another picture. I discretely added the passenger’s size next to me to add to my discomfort flight.

The same thing happened on his next trip with the approved airline.

October 2017 comes around, and I’m heading to training again, and once again, I had to book with the contracted airline!

And the same thing happen: cramped seats, hurting knees, bulky passenger next to me. And this time, the passenger in front of me reclined her seat mid flight!!!

With my phone at the ready, I took another picture of my horrible circumstance. My caption would’ve been “this is how a sardine feels.”

On the return home, I paid for the emergency row…out of pocket! Booking the emergency exit row was an “extra cost” that wasn’t allowed on government credit cards.

So he booked a business class flight for his next trip.

It’s after Thanksgiving 2017, and I get advised I’m going back to the midwest for more training! This time I’m ready! I had done a little research on the federal travel regs.

I saw that business class was an option for air travel if the reason to book business class was for safety and health reasons…BINGO!

I created my orders, and this time, I booked BUSINESS class with the contracted airline and included my health as an exceptional reason. The total price was almost 3x the normal expense for this type of trip.

I submitted my orders for approval and not even a minute passes when AM calls me. I answered the phone, I didn’t even get a chance to say hello…

His conversation with the approving manager went like this.

AM: “Why the heck are you booking business class!?”

Me: “Because on the contracted airline, I don’t fit in the normal seats.”

AM: “That’s not a good enough reason, you need to change the class now or I am not approving these at all!”

Me: “No, its a health issue. I need business class to sit comfortable. My legs and thighs cramp up and my knees hurt from banging the seat in front of me.”

AM: “I am not approving that! I’m coming over there and we’re going to meet with your manager right now!” Click!

The talk with his manager and the approving manager began.

I was ready for this. I got my phone and walked to my manager’s office. He’s on the phone so I quietly sit down and did not say anything. He gets off the phone.

He then looks at me and asks, “what’s up?” I smile and shake my head when in comes AM.

AM: “Glad you’re here, he wants to book business class for his training trip!”

Manager: “You know you can’t do that, why did you?”

Me: Pulling out my phone, “Remember my trip in July? Well, here’s my first experience with the contracted airline heading TO training.”

I give my manager my phone and he raises his eye brows in disbelief. AM didn’t look at the photo.

The approving manager stood her ground.

AM: “That is not the government’s problem.”

Me: “Okay,” manager hands me back my phone, “Well, here’s a picture from the RETURN trip and it was more uncomfortable than the Outbound trip. I couldn’t get settled the entire trip. My thighs and legs cramped a bit.

I showed my manager my phone again and he cringes. AM is still unfazed.

AM: “Your comfort is not our concern. We just need to get you there and that’s it!”

Me: “And finally…” I got my phone back and showed them the October trip.“This happen on my last trip which left my right thigh in pain for a few days, my lower back ached while sitting in training.”

“This made it uncomfortable to learn or study the material. Not to mention the sore knees I had from bumping into seat in front of me… again.”

I showed my manager the sardine picture and he made the face like he just swallowed a lemon!

But his manager felt for him.

Me: “I really do cramp up in those seats, I can’t sit or stand up comfortably, I’m in the next passenger’s personal space, and I cannot really adjust my knees or legs at all during the flight.”

“If I get hurt really bad where I can barely walk, I might have to miss a day or two in training class. Therefore, for health reasons, I need business class on the contracted airline.”

AM: “Well, that ain’t gonna happen because I am not approving them! You need to change it back to coach. You’ve done coach before with the contracted airlines, you can do it again.”

My manager just looks at her for a minute. Being a big guy himself, he knew my pain.

Manager: “Well…I think you should approve his orders. But I understand if you don’t want to. He’s provided me with enough info here to get a health exception. I can’t have him miss training due to an injury because of cramped seats.

If I have to, I’ll have him send his orders to your manager for approval. Of course, I’m also gonna send him a quick email with those pictures to back up the health exception. Do you mind sending me those pictures to my email?”

Me: “sure…and sent!”

The approving manager said there is no other option.

Manager: “Thank you.” He’s quiet for a minute until he turns back to AM. “What would’ve been the alternative to flying the contracted airline?”

AM: “There is none! We have to fly the contract airline!”

I’m staying quiet because it’s no longer my fight.

Manager: “Are you positive on that?”

AM: “Yea! 100%”

Manager: “Then I guess we have to book him business class.” And he turns to his computer to start typing something.

AM though, doesn’t want to admit defeat especially to her own boss!

On her final attempt to win, approving manager suggested booking with Airline Z.

AM: “Wait!” She says with one arm stretched out trying to get my manager to stop typing, which he does. “You know… He could fly coach with Airline Z! That’s an alternative!”

AM is now trying to save face now, but my manager isn’t buying it.

Manager: “Are the tickets the same price as the contracted airline?”

I did a quick internet search on my phone (which btw, is NOT the way you research official travel prices. You must use the gov’t search engine and AM should’ve caught this…she did not.)

Me: “No sir, all prices are up really high now!”

AM is angry knowing that she has lost completely.

His business class trip was approved and his next flight will be on Airline Z.

Manager: “So…before I finish my email and send it off to your manager, will you approve his orders?”

AM nodded like a spoiled child and she walked out of the office.

I thanked my manager and left to resend my orders to AM with business class for my November training!

BTW, it wasn’t much difference except for wider seats, more leg room (my knees didn’t touch the seat in front of me), and free drinks!

January 2018 comes around and I get another training class. Except this time, I got approved to fly with Airline Z from AM!

All that hullabaloo just to come full circle!

I genuinely don’t understand how some people can be totally okay with living in filth.

How do you deal with housemates who genuinely just do not care?

“I’m genuinely at my limit with my housemates. I’m not a clean freak and I can be messy too, but there’s a difference between being messy and living in actual filth.

The whole house has this stale, rancid smell that I can only describe as smelling like pig fat. The bathroom bin situation is ridiculous too. About a month ago, I ended up throwing out their old bathroom bin myself because it had been sitting there forever.

They replaced it with another plastic bin, but instead of even putting a bin liner inside it, the liner is just sitting on the bathroom floor next to the bin. That has now been sitting there for weeks too and nobody seems bothered by it.

Yesterday I went into that bathroom and someone hadn’t even flushed after themselves. I’ve only been using that shower temporarily because mine needs fixing.

It gets worse…

Food gets left until it rots. Today I threw out cooked rice I first noticed about a month ago and fruits and vegetables from the fridge that had been sitting there for MONTHS. There have also been multiple times where pans of food or raw chicken were just left there until they went bad.

That same housemate also smokes weed on the balcony even though I’ve repeatedly asked him not to do it around my drying clothes because they end up smelling like it.

I’ve asked everyone nicely multiple times, both in person and in the group chat. It feels like talking to a wall. Today I came home from a long night shift without sleeping and spent 4+ hours cleaning, including areas I barely even use.

No one else is gonna do it…

I know the obvious answer is “stop cleaning after them,” but they genuinely don’t care. Things will literally sit there for weeks or months, so eventually I’m the one who gives in because I have to live here, too.

I’m close to graduating university, working limited hours and don’t know where I’ll be working after graduation yet, so moving immediately isn’t financially or practically easy.

We also originally rented the place together, so there isn’t a head tenant I can complain to. We’re all basically responsible for the place, and the dynamics have changed since we first moved in.

At this point I don’t think another cleaning roster or house meeting will change people who simply don’t care.

What would you realistically do in my situation?

Is there any way to make this tolerable temporarily, or should I just start saving and plan to leave as soon as I can?”

This can be a tough lesson to learn…

A lot of us think that we’re going to be friends with people for our whole lives…

But, in reality, it doesn’t really work out that way.

In today’s story, a young woman explained how things blew up with her group of friends and, from an outsider’s perspective, it sounds like she’s better off without them!

AITA for destroying my friend group?

“My (25F) friend group from high school included one person that I never liked.

I will call them B for the story. B is a very affectionate person which I don’t judge, but I always made it known that I am not whatsoever.

This is already weird.

All through high school B would poke, hug me randomly and not let go, squeeze my waist, even simple things like sitting extremely close and refusing to move. If asked not to do these things B would put on a baby voice and whine about it.

I was visibly distressed & would tell B to stop cause it made me uncomfortable, B would laugh it off pretend to agree

After two years B got worse and would joke, insulting my intelligence or my family.

I tried so many times to talk to B in a mature way, I even went to my school for help, nothing worked.

Why was she even friends with this person…?

B would always try and play trauma olympics with me, to prove her life or her day was so much harder than mine. I don’t believe in comparing trauma, the problem was this girl could not compete since my life drama was generally worse by far if you want to be technical.

I left high school and didn’t look back, only saw them for my other friend’s birthdays. Went to my friend’s 21st, when playing games, B was laying in their partner’s lap and started giving me these weird looks and started stroking my leg with their toes.

I moved back but B didn’t stop until I was too far away.

Ugh!

Next morning B trapped me in a chair bear hugging me while sloppy kissing the top of my head and hair. I loudly to stop and it took me physically fighting back to get out of B’s arms.

A couple months later I explained to my other friends how B made me feel uncomfortable when I last saw them.

My friends were sympathetic and suggested they both talk with B about boundaries
B said something like ‘I’m sorry that you have a problem with physical touch and I didn’t mean to make you uncomfy.”

It was time to say goodbye…

This kind of answer is textbook B as she never places blame on themselves. I cut contact and explained to my friends that I wish B the best but I do not want them in my life anymore.

I feel guilty for my actual friends but I am so relieved to not deal with B anymore. I started therapy but it’s been months and I still can’t talk about B without panicking.

My friends barely speak to me now but when they do they pretend nothing is wrong and seem happy to talk to me. Sometimes they bring up B, and they still invite me to group calls with B.

One of my friends I can tell is passive aggressive about it, asking things like ‘we can all hang out like normal next year, right?’

When I repeated I didn’t ever want to see B again, my friend had only messaged me a few times in the year, someone who used to be my best friend.

My other friend seems okay with my decision but I can still feel like she’s sad the friend group can’t be together.

Sometimes I reacted in anger towards B but I tried the mature road so many times and it never worked. I feel like I lost my friends & I don’t have other friends.

About 3 yrs ago I had a contractor rip me off about 2k here is my revenge its also still in play.

As well I had a contractor screw me over about $2k I downloaded a burner number app… so every few months I’ll call this guy from random number ask about his business and see if he would be willing do work for me.

He owns a concrete pumping co. So sometimes I tell him I need a pump at so & so on a certain day ask if he’s cool with a check or should I hit the bank for cash.

Hook line and sinker….

He knows the guy falls for it.

Then he loads up his equipment and drives an hour to get to a job site that doesn’t exist.

I almost always send him somewhere I know he has to drive past a friend’s home or place of employment.

Friend then calls me and tells me D head contractor is almost to the site.

Here’s another variation on the revenge.

Every once in a while I’ll ask if he can provide a 10 man crew with the pump as its just me and grandpa putting in a garage and we are not that good.

Its been going on for 3 yrs now labor, fuel, loss of real work…

That 2 k has had to cost him well over 15k by now if not more.

He has no regrets about his revenge.

I’m in the concrete business if anyone gives me a hard time about how cruel I am.

Oh well I still sleep pretty good at night.

He is not competition in my line of work he was someone I used to hire to pump crete.

He knew he messed up he said he would make it right and that was the last time he ever called me or answered a call from my real number.

I wonder when he’s going to stop messing with that guy. Eventually, it’s wasting his time too.

It’s not really something you think about until you own a home…

I’m talking about what your neighbor’s houses and yards look like!

Because, let’s be honest, those things really can affect things when it comes time for you to sell your pad.

In today’s story, a woman opened up about why she’s a bit ticked off about how her neighbor chooses to take care of his property.

Let’s take a look at what’s going on here!

Neighbor’s property is becoming a junkyard and I’m worried about resale—what would you do?

“I live in a fairly affluent neighborhood in New York, and I’m looking for advice about an ongoing situation with my next-door neighbor.

His property has gradually become more cluttered with vehicles, equipment, and piles of miscellaneous items throughout the driveway.

Sounds like a junkyard!

He also has a large unfinished project in his backyard. Another neighbor told me it has been under construction for approximately five years, and I’m unsure whether the proper permits were ever obtained.

I recently spoke with him politely about the condition of the property. Afterward, he put away a tow trailer that had been sitting in the driveway covered with junk, which I appreciated.

Gee, thanks…

However, he immediately replaced it with one of his seemingly inoperable vehicles, so the driveway doesn’t look much better.

Shortly after our conversation, he also put several political signs in his yard. I realize it is election season and he has every right to display them, so I may be reading too much into the timing. However, it felt somewhat pointed because they appeared immediately after I approached him.

There are other issues making me increasingly uncomfortable.

He sits in the driveway at all hours puttering around, and I feel like I can’t go outside or use my own yard without him trying to talk to me. He is also occasionally outside in his underwear.

But wait, there’s more!

During the summer, he has numerous weed plants growing in his backyard. I have also been told that he has some type of growing operation in his basement. Weed smoke frequently comes from his property.

I understand that adults can legally grow a limited number of plants in New York, but I don’t know whether his setup complies with local and state rules.

My biggest concern is what this could do to the resale value and marketability of my home.

If a potential buyer came for a showing and saw the cluttered driveway, apparently inoperable vehicles, weed plants, and a backyard project that has reportedly been unfinished for five years, I can’t imagine it would make a good impression.

I’m worried that I could have difficulty selling or be forced to accept less for my home because of a property I have no control over.

She’s at the end of her rope about this…

I don’t want to start a feud, and I already tried addressing the situation directly and respectfully. At what point would you contact the town or code enforcement?

Has anyone dealt with something similar in New York?

Am I overreacting, or are my concerns about my comfort and future resale reasonable?

Ultimately, I am just super frustrated because this is my first home. I’ve put so much time money and energy into this home and I just feel like no matter what this guy just won’t stop. Honestly, at this point it’s affecting my mental health and the discussion of moving is affecting my marriage. Someone please help or calm me down.

Something I forgot at a certain point: me and my husband decided that it would be a good idea to plant trees between my neighbors driveway and her house as I have a bay window in. It feels like all I can see sometimes his cars.

We asked him at the time if he would be offended if he planted trees and he said no it’s a great idea but I just feel like once those trees were planted things somehow became worse or got more cluttered or maybe I’m just noticing more and spiraling.

This guy genuinely is a nice guy he would probably give you the shirt off his back. He just seems to never be able to finish any project projects and leaves his stuff everywhere and I just can’t live by it or smell the weed anymore.”

“My mom and I are going to a concert this weekend that is about 4.5 hours from her house. My mom lives about 3 hours from me. I planned to drive straight to her house today after work so we could leave first thing in the morning.

My boyfriend lives about 2 hours from me. He suggested that I stop and see him on my way to my mom’s and I agreed. The problem is that stopping at his place adds about an hour to my overall drive.

I was willing to do it because HE suggested it and I wanted to see him.

Uh oh…

He has a history of being late and unreliable, so I made sure he knew exactly when I was coming. I told him when I left, when I was halfway there, and again when I was about 45 minutes away.

When I called him, he was out with his oldest daughter. They had already been there for about two hours. I wasn’t upset that he was spending time with his daughter.

What upset me was that he knew I was driving two hours out of my way to see him, knew I was on my way, and apparently never thought to tell me that he wasn’t going to be available.

When I called, he basically said, “Let us finish our drinks,” and hung up on me. He then proceeded to ignore me.

Good grief!

I could also hear his daughter talking trash about me in the background, and he didn’t say anything or defend me.

This is a huge pet peeve of mine because I feel like situations involving him somehow always end up being turned around and made my fault.

At that point, I blocked him on everything. I was already frustrated, exhausted, and had gone significantly out of my way because he specifically asked me to stop and see him.

Now I’m wondering if I overreacted by blocking him.

Do you remember learning how to drive? It can be exciting, but it can also be stressful, especially if the person teaching you is stressed out and not a very good teacher.

In this story, one teenager’s dad is trying to teach him how to drive. The teen admits to being an awful driver, but it doesn’t seem like his dad is a very good teacher.

On their most recent driving lesson, they both ended up stressed out and yelling at each other. Now, the teen is wondering if he really messed up.

AITAH for yelling at my dad after he forced me to park the car in front of the entire neighborhood after i failed to do so?

For context i’m a 19M, I got my driving license very recently (3 months ago), but make no mistake, i don’t deserve this license.

I’m so bad at driving, or you can just say i’m very underprepared, because for some reason in my country (or maybe just the region where i live) the driving school requires you to take a road test in a less than a kilometer journey. That’s it. Then your park on the side of the road and congrats! Wait a half year for your license to be ready and you’re good to go!

No driving in the city, no driving in traffic and no driving at night, no no that part is a “premium subscription” called “advanced driving after you get your driving license.

He didn’t even want a license yet.

This is so stupid to the point i failed my 1st driving test on purpose just in hope that i get enough knowledge about driving a car.

And what surprised me the most is that the participants told me that “it’s a normal thing” and “the real driving test is in the roads not driving school”

Maybe they said that because they’re already good drivers just need the license.

He needs someone to teach him how to drive.

I was on a budget and wasn’t ready to pay for extra driving lessons so instead my dad started taking me on driving trips by himself.

The problem is that he has a job and he doesn’t have free time to teach me how to drive so he comes home tired, even in weekends in and during his summer work leave.

It didn’t work because I myself have a job too, so we take this driving test once in a while.

He doesn’t think he’s improving at all.

Every time we go on a driving test there is no clear progress.

I struggle with gearshift especially downgrading. I always make wrong moves at roundabouts, speed bumps, I sometimes loose focus and drive in lower/higher speeds in places i shouldn’t, and because of the stress and fear, i sometimes stall the car in the 1st gear when going off..

Seriously it’s a miracle how every time in narrow roads I dodge scratching the car with other cars or that i still haven’t crashed his car yet.

He doesn’t blame his dad for being upset.

And it doesn’t help that he keeps yelling at me and making sarcastic comments on my driving skills, and yelling that i’m gonna burn the engine, break the gearbox because i’m too aggressive with the gear stick and the fact that i’m so bad at gear shifting in general.

It sometimes reaches to the point that he actually starts cussing and swearing at me, which is extremely rare and he never does that in front us, but most of the time i don’t blame him.

It’s his car and he rightfully should be concerned about it and about our safety, and the fact that he’s risking his car to teach me for free (it’s a Dacia Sandero stepway (autogas) if you’re curious).

It was even worse today.

But today was probably by far the worst ride i’ve ever took.

Today he took me on a 3 hours journey.

I was bad, not that much but he kept yelling and yelling, making those comments again, and again and again and again and again and again literally every, single, minute, he started cussing at me again.

There was no single minute of silence in that ride.

It got worse and worse.

The temperature was 33° and due to stress i started sweating like crazy.

He was unusually mad that I started thinking he was dumping all his week rage on me.

But the worst part was yet to come.

When we finally arrived home and I thought this nightmare was finally over, I saw like most of my neighbors in neighborhood, he told me to park the car!!

He really didn’t want an audience.

Make no mistake, parking in our garage is so hard, even veterans need someone to guide them in parking because the road to our garage is so narrow that it only fits the car and if you’re parking people passing by stop and wait for you to park in order to pass.

I started shaking and told him that i’m not gonna park it.

It wasn’t my first time parking but i was stressed because literally everybody, even kids were looking at me parking.

He insisted and swore to god that i will park it or else it’s gonna stay there. He told me “i’ve never seen anyone as afraid as you from parking a car.”

He was so stressed out.

He got out the car and started guiding me, by guiding i mean yelling because as usual, my driving is bad.

Every time i get close to scratching the car with the wall his tone rise up and starts screaming louder while everyone is looking including the people waiting to pass by.

I felt like my heart was pushing all the blood from my body to my arms and legs due to the extreme stress at that moment that i stalled the car.

I was so embarrassed and the sweat omg i don’t thing i’ve ever sweated like this in my entire life.

It got even worse when he got out of the car.

I started the car again and I eventually parked it but when i got out i couldn’t stay still, my body didn’t calm down and i started shaking and my blood started boiling and boiled more every second.

I remembered those people were staring at my very poor driving skills, especially seeing those my age who know how to drive looking at me.

I couldn’t take it anymore.

I punched the wall with the all my might. I started yelling at my dad telling him how much of a piece of garbage he is and how bad of mentor he is and i said “forget the driving license i’m never going on a ride with you in that damned car for the rest of my life”.

He eventually calmed down.

I then went to my room and slammed the door, my body is sweating so much from the adrenaline rush and my arm now is hurting me while i’m typing this.

After i calmed down i feel bad because of how much hurtful words i threw at him. I didn’t even tell him that i was just embarrassed from the people around looking at me because he’d think i’m a coward (ironically he already knows it).

I think he won’t talk to me for a while now after what i said to him.

AITAH?

His words were harsh, but it sounds like he learned them from his dad. They both seem to yell a lot.

I think he needs someone else to teach him to drive.

I think he has anxiety about driving because of his dad. He needs someone to teach him to drive who is much calmer and more encouraging, someone who can correct what he’s doing wrong instead of simply yelling at him.

Dog parks are designed for off-leash play, making infant floor time a uniquely risky choice.

Who bears responsibility when a curious puppy approaches a baby lying inside the designated small-dog area?

I have a puppy, who is about 6 months old.

She lives with me and I live alone. I also don’t have any really young family members/friends with babies so my puppy has not really had any experience around babies.

She loves kids but tends to jump up on them (she is a small breed) but I usually discourage kids from trying to pet her only because I know her little nails will scratch them.

Otherwise, she loves people and is the friendliest girl.

Dog parks are a great place for dogs to get out some energy.

Recently I was at the dog park to help get her energy out, and we were in the designated Under 25 lbs area.

This area is a bit hit or miss because sometimes the dogs in there are old and do nothing but sit in the grass, but the dogs in the regular area were quite big and rowdy that day, so I brought her in to throw her tennis ball and just let her run around.

Enter young mom with 5-6 month old infant in a stroller and her Jack Russell.

Cute, I thought. I love dogs and kids, and even said hi to her when she came in.

This sounds like a bad idea at a dog park.

Until she sets a blanket on the ground, takes her kid out of the stroller and lays him on it.

Of course none of the other old dogs were bothered, but my pup instantly ran up and was sniffing the baby, trying to lick him, and overall was just being curious.

HOWEVER, remember those nails and how they can scratch if she happened to step on an arm or hand or get to close to the face.

I was sitting on a chair across the field so immediately got up, grabbed her, tried to redirect her, and apologized.

That didn’t work.

But she went right back to explore the little human.

After many times of redirecting, and asking her to “leave it” (which she is still learning), the mom started to get aggressive with my dog, pushing her away, yelling at her, etc.

BUT NOT ONCE did she move her baby, pick him up, or put him back in the stroller.

This isn’t a regular park.

I tried everything I could do before I just picked her up and held her.

I considered leaving but….it’s an off leash DOG park.

The park is for dogs to enjoy and exercise in, not for someone to set up a blanket with their baby.

She refused to move.

She suggested maybe my “rowdy” dog should move to the big area.

And I said she would be fine if baby was back in the stroller.

Of course that was not okay, and she said the dog park was for everyone to enjoy, and I just needed to control my dog.

Ordering pizza is usually simple, provided the customer contacts a restaurant somewhere near the delivery address.

This caller had somehow selected a location more than a thousand miles from his Indiana home.

Instead of reaching a nearby branch, he confidently began placing his order with a baffled East Coast employee.

That delivery estimate was about to get complicated.

How did you get our number…

I work at an international restaurant chain associated with “fabulous” anime revolutions.

I get a phone call from someone, and do my little spiel.

They want to order a pizza for delivery, so I start taking down their information.

This man explained that he works on the East Coast, not in Indiana.

Customer: “I live at [address] in [town], Indiana.”

I don’t work at an Indiana location. I work at an East Coast location, which is over a thousand miles away.

We also don’t have a large corporate number to call that then filters you to a local store. You call your local restaurant.

He found it baffling that some customers would dial the first number they see on the Internet.

He Googled the number and found a store over a thousand miles away.

He called us. trying to order delivery.

Not the most obnoxious “I don’t work here” story I’ve ever had, but possibly the most baffling.

The customer clearly needed to call a different number.

I pay $50 a month for my reserved parking & my bf pays $75 a month for his garage.

We live just outside of LA.

The apartment community is gated with a community lock code & all the garages and spots are numbered, paid for and reserved.

2 times now I have found cars parked in my spot and towed them both.

Both times it was late at night after a 16 hour shift as a nurse assistant with classes the next morning.

I was furious.

I think it’s unreasonable for me to risk getting towed from another resident’s reserved spot or nearby business lot especially when there is signs that clearly state this is reserved parking and violators will be towed.

I’ve been towed before a couple years ago for parking in front of a fire hydrant… it was stressful to deal with insubordinate impound employees, unreasonable fees and the inconvenience of waking up with your car gone.

But I learned my lesson the hard way and I assume they will too.

I think towing the cars will be an effective way to deter those drivers from parking in her reserved spot.

We only have one parking spot and months ago we already worked out an agreement to where I get the parking spot because I have been at the apartment longer and my name is on the lease, so technically the spot is assigned to me anyway.

My roommate just started dating someone and recently, today is the third time, he has parked in my spot.

When I brought it up to her I was pretty annoyed and she told me I was overreacting and that technically the spot belongs to the apartment, not just me.

She also told me because both of them arrived in the car it makes more sense for them to park there so both of them don’t have to walk, instead of just one person.

We both agreed months ago I could have it since my name is on the lease and have been living here 3 months longer than her.
