Anyways….we now have (a few) photos for the upcoming November 17th new episode of 90210, where Kelly and Silver have to deal with the fall-out of their mother's failing health and the surf squad continues to plot to take down Jen.  Also, guess who's coming to dinner?  Annie's crazy drug dealer boyfriend.  Mom and Dad will be so pleased.

A DEATH IN THE ZIP CODE — Although she is conflicted about whether or not she can forgive her mother for all the pain she has caused, Kelly (Jennie Garth) continues to support Silver (Jessica Stroup) as she deals with Jackie’s (guest star Ann Gillespie) declining health.  Navid (Michael Steger) confronts Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) about her drug use.

Harry (Rob Estes) and Debbie (Lori Loughlin) are surprised when Annie (Shenae Grimes) informs them she would like to invite Jasper (guest star Zach Sherman) over for dinner.  Dixon (Tristan Wilds), still upset with Debbie over her handling of the Sasha (guest star Mekia Cox, who does not appear in the episode) situation, declines to join them.

Dixon, Ivy (Gillian Zinsler) and Navid devise a plan for Liam (Matt Lanter) to tell Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) the truth about Jen (guest star Sara Foster).  Ryan (Ryan Eggold) and Jen’s relationship is taken to an entirely new level when he convinces her to go on a weekend camping trip.

Naomi and Jamie’s (guest star Travis Van Winkle, “Meet the Spartans”) make out session is interrupted by Richard (guest star Jonathon Trent, “CSI: NY”) and his mom, forcing Naomi to come clean about her plans to get accepted into CU.

THE BITCH IS BACK!  HEATHER LOCKLEAR RETURNS AS AMANDA

Ella (Katie Cassidy) and Caleb (Victor Webster) are stunned when agency owner Amanda Woodward (Heather Locklear) walks into WPK and immediately fires half the staff, including Caleb.

Amanda makes it clear to Ella that the Anton V launch party with Riley (Jessica Lucas) better go off without a hitch or Ella can vacate her office too.

Meanwhile, Auggie (Colin Egglesfield) finally succumbs to Violet’s (Ashlee Simpson-Wentz) flirtatious ways and David (Shaun Sipos) asks Lauren (Stephanie Jacobsen) out on a date.  Michael Rady and Thomas Calabro also star.

In other words, a typical 90210 episode, but one that ended in tragedy for one of the characters.

"It's Not Like You're My Mother Anyway"

Dixon still is sick to his stomach on how things ended with Sasha and Harry hates to see him like this. Harry asks Debbie if they should rethink the whole not telling Dixon about Sasha's deception pregnancy thing and Debbie assures Harry to follow her lead and to trust her cause she was right before. But Dixon wants to play Mr. Responsible and decides to go see Sasha. When stalling Dixon doesn't work (I would have went with stern grounding, but that's just me), Debbie and Harry come clean, but Debbie takes most of the blow as Dixon declares that despite what Debbie thinks, she is actually the one woman he can't trust.

Ouch! That would have been followed by a bitch slap in my house from my mother.

Later, Debbie tries to reach to Dixon, but he doesn't want to hear it. Harry tries to jump in and demands for Dixon to hear Debbie out and Dixon says, "For what? It's not like she is my real mother anyway…"

EPIC fail! Pack his bags and ship him out!

But no, this is 90210 and TV. Later in the night, Debbie watches over Dixon as he sleeps and cries the entire time.

Again, Dixon is an ungrateful bastard.

Annie, Navid, and the Craziness That is Jasper

Jasper confronts Navid about calling him a drug dealer and tells him that he needs to check his sources before publishing "lies". But my boy Navid is no dummy, unlike Annie who squeals in joy when Jasper reveals that he arranged an audition for her via his dad. Navid traces Jasper one day at school to Adrianna's car, where the poor girl buys more pills from the creep, using Silver's half-birthday presents money in the process. Navid sees this and gives Adrianna a call and asks her why did she do it. She denies it and he presses on and she throws back in his face that she's not his problem anymore and hangs up. Ouch, damn, SNAP!

Navid still doesn't let it go and calls Jasper a "scumbag" in the halls the next day. Jasper lies that he gave her lunch money and Navid sees through the crap and telling Jasper to stay away from Adrianna. Jasper then repeats that he is not a drug dealer, but add that if he was then Navid shouldn't be screwing with him. Navid smells the threat for what it is and Jasper walks off.

Meanwhile, Jasper helps Annie practice her lines and I can't help but want to smack the taste out of Annie's mouth when she tells Jasper that she loves him. Come on! He's creepy! When Jasper doesn't answer right away, Annie immediately feels like crap, but Jasper says that he loves her, too, and that he just wanted to say it first. Boo.

The next day, Annie doesn't get the role and is distraught over it. Jasper tells Annie that her day will come and that she will be big one day. Annie then wants her first time to be with Jasper and the two get at it. Random much?

But Navid and Gia are on the case of bringing down Jasper and I can't wait for the inevitable bust to go down.

Friends in Need For Self-Destruction

Liam and Adriann are on a slippery downward spiral this week. While Adrianna is dulling the pain of losing Navid by falling off the wagon (not a good way to cope, mind you), Liam decides to give the world a great big "Screw You!" when Ryan Matthews won't hear him out on Jen's lie and tells Liam that his stepfather was right about him.

Spoken like a true 'adult', Ryan Matthews. But why should Ryan Matthews's view of the world matter? I ponder this as Liam starts to snap at anything in sight. Ivy picks up on this while Navid, Dixon, and Teddy have other things on the brain. She calls them out on not being true 'friends' to Liam in his time of need, because something is obviously bothering him and it's bringing out the ignoramus side of Liam.

Liam's chip on that chiseled shoulder of his comes to a sizeable head when he starts a fight with some other surfer guys. Ivy, Teddy, and Dixon all confront Liam and make him fess up to what's eating him. Liam then gives the whole story dating back to the party last year, including that it was Jen he slept with and not Annie. Dixon states that he thought Liam was lying and then Liam says that he TOLD Dixon it wasn't Annie, so at this point I have no sympathy for Dixon going to summer school due to Annie. Teddy declares that's it time to bring Jen down and for Liam to not worry how, because it's going to get done.

Teddy, you are officially one of my new faves on the show. You  finally won me over, man, congratulations!

After the gang splits up, Liam apologizes to Ivy for snapping at her (he told her to stop acting like his girlfriend). She accept, but is hurt again when Liam says that he knows that she doesn't think that they are an item. Ivy plays it off and accepts a dinner date with Liam, but to Liam its only two friends hanging out. I hope Ivy sticks around post Liam-Naomi reunion. She's cool.

Meanwhile, like I stated above, Adrianna paid Jasper with some of Silver's half-birthday present money and then later walks up into The Beach Club looking like Season One Adrianna, lying to Naomi that she was mugged and that all the money was gone. My thoughts are more on how Naomi does not notice that Adrianna is high as a kite rather than Naomi believing the lie.

Also, Dixon tries to apologize to Annie for being a dummy and Annie thinks he is apologizing for the comment he made about Jasper's character. She tells Dixon that he has a great sense of character and shoves the Sasha incident in Dixon's face. Dixon tells Annie to go to hell for hr bitchery and Annie looks a little hurt after he leaves the room. Damn, Annie was the sex with Jasper that good?

Silver Relives Her Youth Courtesy of Jackie…and Teddy

Silver goes by her daily routine of taking care of Jackie (guest star Ann Gillespie), who marvels at how responsible and organized her daughter is, despite Silver being that way all her life. Jackie wishes she could have been a better mother, but I am looking at how Jackie looks BAD. Kudos to the make up department, because Jackie looked like death. Silver tells Naomi and others that she will not have her annual half-birthday party and Teddy decides to pry to hear about the half-birthday concept. Silver reveals that at age 10 she was going to have a camping party, but that Jackie got trashed and the party got canceled. Meanwhile, Adrianna peeps Silver hanging with Teddy and gives a hurt awkward stare. Silver later asks Ade about it and she says she's fine with it, but I guess that's because Adrianna has drugs to make her 'fine'.

Silver then gets help from Teddy with Jackie. He offers to stay home with Jackie, while Silver runs errands. When Silver returns she is shocked and happy to find Jackie and Teddy deep in game of cards, Jackie in high spirits. The next day Silver returns home and finds that Jackie has had different rooms of the house decorated for each birthday of Silver's that she missed. One room represents Silver's obsession with space travel at age 7 and another one represents Silver's period of all things 80s at 12. All courtesy of Jackie with the help of Teddy, who had interior designers come and decorate.

A dream come true for any kid, in my opinion.

They stop the tour at Silver's 10th birthday scenario which is the backyard camping party. Jackie asks about how did Silver gain her love of being terrified by horror movies, which Silver based the camping theme on. Silver explains that at the time the more scared she was the more she didn't have to focus on her problems and Jackie knows that Silver meant her. Silver tells her that it was how Jackie was never there and that she worried about Jackie's whereabouts. Jackie apologizes, but doesn't think it will amount to the hill of crap she gave Silver. But Silver says the birthday gift does help, because she was scared that if Jackie died that she wouldn't have anything good to hold onto of her and the two make up and I want to bawl like a damn baby. Jackie tells Silver that she is thrilled that to be a part of her birthday for once and the two giggle like schoolgirls.

The next morning, which is Silver's half-birthday, Silver wakes up in the tent to a call from Teddy. When she gets off the phone with him, Silver turns to wake Jackie up for the big day.

Jackie doesn't respond.

Silver shakes her mother, but Jackie doesn't budge and Silver calls the paramedics.

Oh. My. GOD!!!!

But the real slap to the face? The CW promoting next weeks episode as being about Annie and creepy ass Jasper, with NO mention of Jackie whatsoever!

They are currently filming episode 11 of their 13 episode order,  and according to EW, Fox will likely air all 13 of the completed episodes before removing the show from the schedule.

UPDATE: While the Futon Critic originally posted that the show's second season had simply been capped at 13 episodes, they have now recanted and confirmed the cancellation.

The announcement of the cancellation came while they were finishing up the 13th and final episode that ABC has ordered.  This means that there was no way to give fans any kind of closure on the series and where it was headed.

“We’re smack in the middle of several insanely juicy stories,” Friedman sighs. “And so we do not get a chance to wrap things up in a bow. Which is killing me.”

Those final episode are expected to be aired on ABC as planned, and Friedman still thinks that fans should tune in, saying "I believe [ABC] is going to air the rest of our run, and I think people should tune in anyway because our best episodes are in there. We were really hitting our stride."

She went on to say that "The magic was getting crazy, the storylines were getting really exciting and sexy and dangerous.  I [just] wish we could’ve given the fans — and ourselves — real closure.”

The remaining episode should be finished before the January run of new shows begin and its still unknown what ABC will put on to close out Wednesday night's popular comedy block.  It has been suggested that Ugly Betty may snag this timeslot.  But where, then, would Lost find its home?

Production will wrap up as soon as the tenth episode is completed (they are currently filming it) and ABC hasn't yet confirmed whether they will run any of the remaining episodes that have been filmed.

The other three new commedies also airing on Wednesday nights over at ABC (Modern Family, Cougar Town and The Middle) are doing well and have all been picked up for full seasons.

Is there a catch? Of course there is…

Some (most) of the shows are available only for purchase from Amazon's Unbox Video on Demand Service. Only the current shows that recently aired have a free playback, while episodes from a few weeks back have to be purchased. When I clicked on Babylon 5 to catch up on a show that friends still won't talk to me about because I have never seen it straight through, I was met with a fee of $1.99 if I wanted to view the content. Hmm…

So I leave with this one question…

After watching the promo last night during V, my first thought was "Wow, it looks like Zach Braff is going to be an integral part of the story". Is this just wishful thinking on my part? Perhaps my need to see more of J.D.'s crazy imagination is twisting my view of the promo. So I headed over to ABC to take a look at their official show description for the upcoming season.

The series follows the unique point of view of Dr. John "J.D." Dorian (Zach Braff). After leaving for a job at another hospital, J.D. returns to Sacred Heart to teach at its medical school alongside Chris Turk (Donald Faison), Perry Cox (John C. McGinley), Denise (Eliza Coupe) and Bob Kelso (guest star Ken Jenkins). Together they serve as professors (and inspiration) to a brand new class of med students, including the impressionable Lucy (Kerry Bishé), former med school drop out Drew (Michael Mosley), and cocky, entitled Cole (Dave Franco). As for his personal life, J.D. is now married to longtime sweetheart Dr. Elliot Reid (guest star Sarah Chalke), and the happy couple are expecting their first child.

So there seems to be some confusion, at least for me. The news articles seemed quite clear last season that J.D. would not be returning to the show in any full capacity, and that we'd only see him here and there. Even Variety reported just last week that we'd only see Zach Braff "…in several episodes." However, thanks to the Scrubs Facebook fan page (which you should join) I was able to get a few more details that I wanted to share, to hopefully curb down the speculation and confusion.

• Zach Braff will be in at least 6 episodes, and will still be an integral part of it.
• Sarah Chalke will be guest starring on the show in a few episodes and her real life pregnancy has been written into the show.
• The internal monologues WILL remain, and in fact new character Lucy will have some hilarious fantasy-esque sequences.
• Bill Lawrence, the creator and showrunner of the first 8 season wrote the first episode.

Erica gets home near dawn.  Tyler isn't there.  She freaks.  When he comes home, she is so relieved to see him that she doesn't ground him for coming in 8 hours late.  She asks him to promise to stay away from the Vs, and he does.  Then he goes up to his room and pulls out his new uniform jacket.

Father Travis and Father Jack discuss the Vs proposal for diplomatic relations.  "Establishing relations is a good thing, we're supposed to say," the senior priest reminds Father Jack.  Also, the cops are looking for him in relation to the guy who died in the church the day before. 

Erica gets a call from her boss, Paul Kendrick, who is looking for Dale.  "Have you seen him?"  "Not since yesterday," Erica the obfuscator honestly replies. 

Ryan and Valerie cuddle in bed.  She asks him if she can take a look at his arm.  He says it isn't necessary.  When he removes the bandage, we see that the gash is pretty big and that a lot of his lizard skin is visible.

Chad reviews his interview with Anna.  He feels like he sold out but PA Haley tells him he did well.  He doesn't think so.

Anna and Marcus confer on the ship.  He is concerned because India hasn't offered diplomatic relations yet.  She tells him that once the U.S. does it, the rest of the world will fall in line.  Right now, she is concerned about Japan.  She scolds Marcus for not realizing that appearing submissive to humans is the easiest way to dominate them.

Erica arrives at work.  She moves through the office like she is walking through a mine field; everyone is now suspect as she looks at them with new eyes.  Paul tells her that Dale never made it home and that his wife is in the office looking for answers.  He ushers her into a room where a bunch of agents are waiting to talk to her.  They ask her all the usual suspect questions: when's the last time she saw him? was he acting strangely? were they having an affair?  Erica eventually acts defensive (I'd rather be out looking for my friend and partner of 7 years than standing around talking about him) and Paul comes in with the news that they've found Dale's car.

Meanwhile, FBI Agent Sarika Malik from the V Threat Assessment Joint Task Force shows up at the church to question Father Jack about the dead guy.  It seems that Dead Guy had an FBI file due to the large number of reports he filed about alien activity on earth prior to the Vs arrival.  He lies and says that Dead Guy didn't talk about the Vs.  He just seemed scared and then he died.

Erica and Paul arrive outside the warehouse.  She says she recognizes the address from a terrorist cell tip she and Dale got.  She searches his car and covertly reclaims her badge and gun which she left there before she slipped into the resistance meeting.  When Paul comes up behind her and asks if she found anything, she hands him Dale's phone, which she found in the seat.

Broadcast:  Anna thanks Japan and Mexico for their agreement to offer diplomatic relations and she hopes that Russia and the U.S. with follow their leads.

Chad watches the broadcast.  He gets the numbers from his interview.  Half the viewers are still undecided about the Vs.  He gets an idea on how to regain some of his integrity without screwing his deal with Anna.  He tells Haley that the next time, Anna will come to him.

Still lovey-dovey, Valerie tells Ryan that one of her counselling patients cancelled. Does he want to have lunch?  He'd love to but he has a meeting in Jersey.  Rain check.

Tyler and Brandon arrive at the Visitors Centre.  Lisa greets them with a smile and says she'll get Brandon to the front of the line to become a Peace Ambassador.

Father Jack ruminates.  Father Travis asks him what is wrong and Father Jack admits that he didn't tell Agent Malik that Dead Guy actually was ranting about the Vs.  He's feeling guilty.  Father Travis tells him that sensitive talks are going on now and that he should not upset the apple cart.

Erica and Paul investigate the warehouse.  There are no bodies, no blood pools, no signs at all of the slaughter that happened only hours ago.  He asks why she didn't tell him about the lead.  She reminds him that every time they got a lead on the terrorist cell, it fell through.  She didn't know who the mole was.  Perhaps Dale came to the warehouse to check it out by himself.  She gets more defensive as he continues to question her.

Marcus wants to know if the sole human they captured at the warehouse is part of the resistance that the Vs quelled several years ago.  The human is in some sort of medical half-shell.  He is hallucinating that he is covered in snakes.  He screams that he didn't know anyone else at the meeting.  Marcus doesn't recognize anyone from the Seeker tapes because they have really, really bad playback and only seem to record in infrared.  So the Vs have no more information on the resistance.

Before you start gasping in horror and gnashing your teeth, let me assure you — it's not nearly as bad as it sounds. In fact, it actually sounds like a pretty funny concept, if it can be done right. In fact, it could potentially be the Golden Girls of the 2010's.

What? A Twitter show about geriatrics? You heard me right, folks.

The Twitter channel "S***My Dad Says" (you can fill in the asterisks) has been running since August. Maintained by Justin Halperin, the channel keeps track of the profane maxims spouted out by Justin's seventy-three-year-old father, Sam (speaking of maxims, the younger Halperin is a writer for Maxim magazine). Sam's cynical, sardonic humor has attracted over 733,000 followers, and it's also attracted CBS.

The Twitter feed is being looked at to be turned into a comedy series. It's already attracted some big names; David Kohan and Max Mutchnick (the writers of Will & Grace) are already planning to produce the series, which will be written by Halperin and Patrick Schumacker, according to ABC News.

While I think this is a fine idea, I find it a little difficult to understand just how exactly the series will work, especially since Halperin's outburts are usually humorously profane. "Nobody is that important. They eat, shit, and screw, just like you. Maybe not shit like you, you got those stomach problems," one Carlin-esque jibe goes. Or how about, "A scar ain't 13 god damned stitches. I'll introduce you to men with REAL scars, then we'll all laugh at your fucking 13 stitches together." That's not exactly network television material.

However, I'm sure that a happy medium could be reached with TV-14 level profanity. The only question that remains is — will the series be as riotous as the Twitter feed? Maybe not. But it should still be pretty funny.

Typically, one would expect that September is the most depressing month of the year because school resumes and everything starts getting colder. But when I was a kid, I believed that the worst time of the year was May because all the great shows went on hiatus. Then after two months, the excitement would start to build just in time for the TV network’s new fall line-up previews. But now, if your fav show runs on a specialty or cable channel, hiatus-time is anytime. For example, the Mad Men Facebook group members are agonizing about the very long wait until season 4 starts next summer. It really is painful. But that’s the new TV reality with these shows that are run on cable or pay channels. It’s the trend that we must all accept.

It can be quite a shock if you’re a late-adopter like me. Just recently, my 13-year-old tube TV finally went caput. It lasted until my move to a new apartment when it literally started smoking. It happened on a Saturday and I needed a new TV immediately so that I didn’t miss my Mad Men episode. Little did I realize that this new HD wonder meant that I would never again miss my favourite shows and I would never have to leave my apartment—like ever. The wonderful world of glossy TV is heaven! I quickly became acquainted with shows that I had only read about, namely True Blood. Raise your hand if you were once into Twin Peaks. I was totally fanatical about that show, even though it scared the living Irish out of me. Have you noticed that True Blood owes a little something to Twin Peaks? The show is so Lynchian. Even the theme song sounds like Chris Isaac, but hotter—if that’s possible. So here’s the deal: I only found out after a season 2 marathon this past Halloween that the show’s on hiatus. *GASP!* How am I supposed to wait until next summer for TB-3? Believe it or not, there is hope.

Here’s five suggestions to help you get through this rough hiatus period:

(1) Take up a sport: there are tons of indoor leagues to join, so get off your duff and get moving!

(2) Read a new book. You never know, you might have your hands on the next best TV show or movie. Bragging rights rule!

(3) Start watching a new show. If you have the “On Demand” feature on your HD TV listings, it may offer full seasons for shows like Hung or Bored to Death. Maybe you’ll find a new “diamond in the rough.”

(4) Go shopping. Doesn’t matter for what—just put down the remote and slowly step away from the TV…

(5) Check out your local multiplex. Movies are just as good as TV…Or head to live theatre. I dare you to go by yourself—people watching is so fun!

Whatever you do over the next few months, don’t forget to breathe. Our favourite actors have worked their keisters off; they need a break. And of course the producers need to keep us hot for their shows. So be patient. May will swing back around just as you least expect it. Then it’ll be only a few more sleeps until your show premieres once again. It’s sweet agony, but well worth it. Trust me.

Last week, V's aliens arrived at Earth and went on to dominate the airwaves.  ABC's reinvention of the 80's miniseries captured imaginations around the world, proving that the reliable SciFi trope of sneaky alien invaders never goes out of fashion.  Where the original was an parable on the spread of Nazi-era fascism, ABC's new turn on the series is fast being eyeballed as a more contemporary allegory – focusing on the political idolatry of the here and know, with mesmerized earthlings falling easily under the spell of charismatic alien leader Anna, played skillfully by Morena Baccarin.   It wouldn't be a stretch to say that the role of Anna can make or break V, in Baccarin's hand every aspect of Anna – her duplicity, sensuality, to the subtle glare in her otherwise catching smile that betrays an intense evil lurking within – is done to perfection.

We had the opportunity to speak with Morena Baccarin last week, and managed to get some insight on what goes into playing an effective alien leader/temptress; whether the show is an intentional essay on the Obama administration; and just who decided to cut off all of her beautiful hair.

How surprised were you that 'V' was such a huge ratings success?

It was a surprise in the sense that it is wonderful and amazing.  I hoped people would come and watch because I really loved the show, and everybody did such a great job making the pilot.  So I'm very excited about it, and I'm very happy with the ratings.

How do you approach playing an alien?  I can't imagine there is training for that…

There are not a lot of people you can shadow for that.  It took a little bit of thought and instinct, you have to not think about it as playing an alien because if you played it as an alien it would be really bad.  I'm trying to make her as human as possible, in a subtle and strange way without playing into the alien part of it.

'V' really seems to be a solidly 'Good Guys' and 'Bad Guys' story at this point.  Do you see Anna as a straight-out bad-guy – or is there a soft-side hiding in there?

You know, I think it depends on who you ask.  I think the V's would think she is very nice.  With all of the character we have on the show, they are all very multi-faceted.   So one person can think someone is evil, while another thinks that they are not.

When you were asked to do the part, did you look at the original character of Diana (played by Jane Badler) for inspiration or did you start from scratch?

The whole show is a reimagining of the original, we are taking that same basic premise and we are updating it.  That character [Anna] is updated, that audience – in the 80's – had a different need, as far as the story telling, than we do today.  So the Anna today is different character, she's the leader of her people and I think a little more political and a little more diplomatic.  She's less in your face about what she is going to do, and how bad she is.  There is a little more of a dichotomy of good versus evil within her, and I think that's what makes her compelling.

Did you check out the original 'V' at all when preparing for the role?

I didn't.  I remember watching it when I was really little, with my brother.  I remember certain aspects of it, and I remember the feeling of being completely freaked out by it.  But, I haven't seen any of it since I got the job.

Your resume includes some Science Fiction favorites – Firefly, Stargate – do you seek roles in the genre?

I really am drawn to good material, good writing, and a character I really want to play, so that is really what I judge every job on.   If it happens to be SciFi, great – if it happens to be something else, that's great too.

What do you think about some of the political observations about 'V'?  Some commentators are pointing out that it could be an allegory for the Obama administration – with Anna as the popular leader.  Is that intentional?

I don't think it is intentional to make Anna [into] Obama, but I think that there are similarities – you can compare it.  I think a great show gets people thinking, and it's really awesome that people have an opinion and see similarities to their everyday life from the show.  I think that's really exciting.  We're certainly not "Anna is Obama", but it reminds us that we have certain needs as human beings and somebody always comes in and says they are going to deliver – and they don't.  A lot of the times they don't.  And here we are, aliens giving everyone healthcare – I think that is a really great, ironic twist.

One surprise was the hair-cut.  Few woman could pull off the pixie, yet you really rock it.  Was that your decision, or part of the character design?

I had short hair when I auditioned for the role and we all thought it really fit the character, so we kept it.

In an effort to air only new episodes on Monday nights, theCW will slot in Life when Gossip Girl goes on hiatus for several weeks in the new year.  When Gossip Girl returns, Life will air at 8:00 p.m. while One Tree Hill goes on hiatus. 

After spending all of her 15 years bouncing from one foster family to another in Portland, Oregon, Lux (Britt Robertson, “Swingtown”) has decided it’s time to take control of her life and become an emancipated minor.  Her journey through the legal maze of emancipation leads Lux to her biological father, thirty-something Nate “Baze” Bazile (Kristoffer Polaha, ”Mad Men”), who is astonished to learn that he has a teenage daughter. Baze owns a bar and still lives like an aging frat boy with his two slacker roommates, Math (Austin Basis, “Life on Mars”) and Jamie (Reggie Austin, “The Starter Wife”).

It’s Lux’s turn to be astonished when Baze reveals that her mother is Cate Cassidy (Shiri Appleby, “E.R.”), Baze’s high school nemesis with whom he had a one-night stand.  Cate is now a star on the local “Morning Madness” radio show, along with her partner and fiancé, Ryan Thomas (Kerr Smith, “Eli Stone”).  Lux has been listening to Cate’s voice on the radio as long as she can remember, so she feels an instant connection with the mom she’s never met.  

Baze takes Lux to meet Cate, who is guilt-ridden and saddened to learn that Lux has grown up in foster care, but happy to finally meet her beautiful daughter.  Although it’s been 15 years since Baze and Cate have seen each other, it doesn’t take them long to fall into the same contentious relationship they had in high school.  However, when a judge decides that Lux isn’t ready for emancipation and unexpectedly grants temporary joint custody to Baze and Cate, they agree to try to get past the arguments and awkwardness and make a belated attempt to give Lux the family she deserves.

The show returns two of my old steadies to television – Shiri Appleby and Kerr Smith - who used to star on Roswell and Dawson's Creek, respectively.  The nostalgia was high when I watched the pilot. 

We will post a review of the pilot closer to January (which has been scoring very high with critics), but in the meantime check out some promo photos below.

The question remains: what happens to Eastwick's 10:00 p.m. spot on Wednesday nights slot?  That's prime TV real estate.  For a number of years LOST has aired on Wednesday nights, at both 9:00 and 10:00.  The season 6 return date is still undecided, but with Eastwick's demise, is a 10:00 spot on Wednesday night guaranteed for LOST's final season?

Not so fast, according to E!Online's Kristen:

According to sources, ABC higher-ups are considering moving Ugly Betty to Wednesdays at 10 in January as part of a flashy relaunch of the show in an effort to save it. The thinking is that Betty would complement new hits Modern Family and Cougar Town nicely, and make ABC a solid destination for comedy on Wednesday night.

Nothing has been decided, but I'm told this is one option on the table.

"Honest to God, they haven't given us a date yet," Lost boss Damon Lindelof recently told USA Today. "I don't even know what night it's going to be on. We've been on Wednesday at 9 for awhile, but now ABC's comedies are actually working. And I actually like Modern Family and Cougar Town, so I'm not sure that they'll move them."

No word yet on where Lost will go if Betty gets Eastwick's Wednesday slot.

Friday nights aren't what they used to be when the TGIF line-up was airing and kids were glued to their television sets (myself included).  Moving Ugly Betty to Friday nights this year must have had an impact on the ratings. 

Putting it at 10:00 on Wednesday nights would certainly be different from its previous spot earlier in the evening on Thursdays, but it would still be infinitely better than Friday nights.

Kristen continues to give some spoilers for what's in store for an upcoming Ugly Betty episodes (so avert your eyes if you don't want to be spoiled):

According to insiders, Betty also has a creative resurgence in the works, including an episode in the spirit of Run Lola Run in which Betty must race across town to deliver a diamond-encrusted bra which sounds pretty exciting. ABC execs asked producers to move the episode up to an earlier date because they liked it so much, according to my mole.

And yet I'm also told that Betty's writers have accepted the possibility that this year's season finale could possibly be a series finale if the ratings don't improve. "The big question is: Who will Betty end up with in the end? Gio? Henry? Daniel?" one mole tells me. "The writers' room is divided."

E!Online's Kristen spills some dirt about what's in store for the trio:

I'm told that after to[last night's] threeway, everything will be very messy for Dan, Olivia and Vanessa. "Things are not well," says my source, and the threesome will have repercussions for all relationships involved, and we'll see it all play out next week via flashbacks of the dirty deeds that were done dirt cheap.

Also next week, a fourth wheel comes into the mix: Lady Gaga! No, she's not actually hitting the sack for an L-O-V-D foursome (can you imagine?), but her music is the catalyst through which Dan, Olivia and Vanessa have to stay connected and work together even more closely for the time being (thanks to an assignment given to Mr. Humpey…or, make that Humphrey, sorry).

A main Gossip Girl character is going to get in a serious accident. One that will send her to the hospital. And that someone is Serena (Blake Lively).

Another show has bitten the dust for the 2009-2010 TV season.

According to HitFix.com, "Eastwick" has been canceled effective immediately. ABC opted not to pick up the back nine for the show, which has been finishing last in its Wednesday night time slot, something that I didn't know anything about. According to TV by the Numbers, despite "Eastwick" being called the "least watched show on ABC" or "a ratings failure", it still beat NBC's "The Jay Leno Show" for a consecutive three weeks as of last week by a 23% margin. That should've been something to look at before canceling it right, ABC?

But alas, it wasn't. On the other front, ABC picked up five more scripts for the Jerry Bruckheimer drama, The forgotten, which I had forgot was even still on TV. ABC still plans on airing all 13 episodes of Eastwick before pulling the plug, but by them pulling this weeks ep (for the CMA's) and next week's ep (for a Janet Jackson interview) from the schedule, we will be lucky to see that day happen.

So Eastwick fans, what do you think? Are you about to bawl like a baby like me? Or send a hex to ABC? Please just do the former…

Blair plans to be a mentor for the Cotillion, but has to face Serena, who she is still beefing with. Chuck tells her to go, because he's Chuck Bass, dammit, and probably deep down wants to see a catfight go down. Meanwhile, Serena has just been hired by Trip Vanderbilt as his publicist, despite the Congressman not needing a new publicist. Ahem…

Jenny preps for the Cotillion, but since she has missed one practice (and is not a ballet student) she has to practice extra hard. Throw in the fact that Jenny doesn't have a escort for the biggest night in a junior Upper East Sider's life, I smell a disaster right away. Jenny wanted to take a guy by the name of Graham Collins, but he doesn't know him like that. Enter Kira, who knows Graham, but is a nobody to Jenny, but she tells Eric that she can get that hook up to happen between Graham and Jenny. Eric tells Jenny, while they are on a mini truce, that he can talk Jonathan into being her escort since she can't find one. Jenny appreciates the favor, but when she leaves the area her cellphone buzzes with a text from Graham Collins saying that he is down for the escort gig, but Eric texts back as Jenny saying that she found someone already. What does lil Eric have up his sleeve?

On the Dan front, Olivia finds out that Warner Bros. have moved ahead with production of Eternal Knights 4 and want her on board. But this will put a serious crimp in Dan and Vanessa's plans for Olivia to complete the list of 15 Things Every College Student Must Do. Olivia decides to try out everything on the list with Dan and Vanessa to get the college experience that she hasbeen dreaming of before she leaves for the shoot.

Mmhmmm….

Meanwhile, Blair and Serena both show up to help with the Cotillion. Serena makes it known that Jenny is her charge for mentor ship, but Blair makes a scene about how Serena is not the one she needs since Blair was Queen Bee during her Cotillion. Serena surrenders her duties to Blair to go hang out with Trip. But Blair's job as mentor to Jenny doesn't last long , because Jenny finds out about Eric's little coup and does damage control. Kira finally gets the balls to approach Jenny, where Jenny finds out that Graham actually did contact her. When Jenny confronts Eric about it, Jonathan (who had shown up and agreed to be Jenny's date) leaves in disgust more out of Eric's treachery than Jenny's bitchery. And when Jenny finds out that she has her junior class's version of Nate Archibald willing to escort her, she ditches Blair as her mentor and commenting that Blair and Blair's headbands are "so '07″.

DAMN! Blair Waldorf, pick your face off the floor please.

Blair doesn't take this nicely and she and Eric plot sweet revenge on Her Bitchiness Jenny. First she stops by Chuck's where the annual Lost Weekend had just wrapped up. Chuck and Nate both recognize Blair's 'serene' demeanor is the equivalent of the calm before a storm. They make plans to prepare for the impending Hurricane Blair aftermath.

Serena stops by Trip's office to bring him food and to help out with his projects. The setting goes from professional to damn near sexual, but both parties halted all hormones and no one got bonked, courtesy of a text from Blair.

But the writers are setting great red herrings for the big threesome bit, don't you think?

Blair has selected Kira to be the person to bring down Jenny and take over as Queen, going as far as putting in a full overhaul of Kira's 'dowdy' looks. Kira is reluctant at first, but the thought of being Queen of Constance calms her nerves as well as being escorted by Graham Collins, courtesy of Eric.

That little runt!

As I stated above, the Cotillion doesn't hold a match to Season One's in the execution department, because it seemed as if it was done in a public banquet hall. Anyway, the drama was still there.

Jenny is happy, but it's like seeing Carrie all over again, because we know it's not going to end pretty. Eric and Blair set up the chess pieces and Nate approaches Blair with an envelope from Chuck. Blair goes to meet Mr. Bass, but meets Serena instead. Turns out that both girls got duped by Nate and Chuck and now they have to stay locked in an elevator until they make up.

While doing just that, the show wins my heart back and we see improvement. I want to hug Blair in this scene, because she realizes that its not always about her and she is a damn good friend to Serena, who reveals going to Europe to find her dad and being shut out once she got there. Serena also tells Blair about the attraction between her and Trip, which Blair rightfully says is not a good idea and that Serena needs to nip it in the bud, ASAP.

At the Cotillion, the girls are being called out to society and Jenny gets the bitch slap of her life when Kira is called out with Jenny's date. The murmurs in the crowd are scalding enough for me to even blush in embarrassment. Jenny thinks Blair did it and Eric lets her think that, but Jenny has been in the game waaaayyyy too long to just give up. She gives a call to someone she saw at the ball earlier. That person?

Nate Archibald.

When Nate appears on stage with Jenny, her stock in clout went through the roof. First of all, she has Nate Archibald. Secondly, he is a college student. Thirdly, she saved face from the most embarrassing moment in Cotillion history. It takes a lot for half of the room to not bow in awe from the weight of respect.

Even Blair and Serena are extremely impressed, but Eric is extremely pissed. Then to throw more salt on the wound, Eric gets dumped by Jonathan, who feels that Eric is no better than Jenny at this point. But Eric, nor Kira, are through with bring down Jenny Humphrey for good.

Serena makes her way to Trip's office and they both agree that they need to calm it down and Blair stops by to make sure that's what is going on.

So who had a threesome?

After drinking, partying and completing the Top 15 Things to Do Before Graduating College, the new Three Musketeers (Dan, Vanessa, and Olivia) decide to have a quiet night cap. Dan and Vanessa tell Olivia that she completed 14 out of a 15 things on the list and that she's set to leave for London. But Olivia wants to know what it was and she finds out that it is to partake in a threesome.

CHA-CHING!!!!!

Dan and Vanessa declare that they never done such a thing before and Olivia says she did it for a movie once, but that it didn'tcount. Then she instigates the boomchicka wow wow scenario by kissing Dan first, then kissing Vanessa, and then Dan kisses Vanessa and it's all she wrote.

As the three lay blissfully in bed together, Olivia's phone starts buzzing with a text from KC saying that the director backed out the movie again and the movie is not going to happen.

Uh-Oh!

And the last scene of the night involves Lily finding a card/letter from Dr. van der Woodsen, Serena's father.

Did NOT see that coming!!!!!

Bizarre Love Triangle

- So I take back some of what I said in the letter from last week, because THIS is Gossip Girl!

- Jenny's saving grace? Classic.

- Blair being an adult. Boy, Christmas ran early on that one!

- Is Dr. van der Woodsen back in the picture? Let's hope so.

- The threesome? Tame at best and the PTC should be ashamed of screaming "fire!" in a building that isn't on fire and causing panic. I wonder how they will look in the morning…

IT’S A SUPERNATURAL CONVENTION!

Super fan Becky (guest star Emily Perkins) uses Chuck’s (guest star Chuck Benedict) phone to trick Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) into attending a Supernatural fan convention, complete with fans dressed up as Sam and Dean.

One of the activities is a live action role playing game, but things quickly turn sour after a real ghost appears on the scene.

DC COMICS “THE WONDER TWINS” SHOW UP TO HELP CLARK CLEAN UP METROPOLIS

Superhero twins Zan (guest star David Gallagher) and Jayna (guest star Allison Scagliotti) show up in Metropolis to help The Blur fight crime but end up botching several rescues, landing Clark (Tom Welling) in hot water with the District Attorney’s office.

Clark decides to come forward as the Blur to clear his name.  Allison Mack, Erica Durance, Justin Hartley, Cassidy Freeman and Callum Blue also star.

I remember Waller as a pain in the neck to the Justice League Unlimited on the Cartoon Network, because she always trumped whatever the heroes were trying to do if it was on an epic scale. I also remember her being integral to the creation of Bruce Wayne's "spawn" in Batman Beyond, which was so confusing that I won't drag you through that craziness at the this time.

I haven't seen Smallville since Season Three, but this makes me want to take a peek. It's Pam Grier! Anyone has a primer? Casey?

But those days are long gone or are on their way out.

As a TV fanatic, opening credits were/are like icing on a cake. They hyped me up and gave me a rush to the system every week and I would cheer like an idiot when a new addition was added to the cast lineup. But now all we have a title screens that look like they could be the title intro to a DVD menu screen. Leaving nothing to the imagination whatsoever except a cold, dark empty void that I am growing to hate by the day as more shows are premiering with just a title card. I know the reason why the credits have been shortened, but come on!!!!

So in honor of the dying art that is the opening credits, I, The Anti-Critic, will give you my Top Ten Favorite Opening Credits Sequences of All Time.

These are a mixed bag so be prepared.

Mark, you are obviously lying. This is not funny and it is cruel, because nobody in their right mind would put Ashlee Simpson on Broadway.

They said that Whitney Houston was America's Sweetheart and could do no wrong. And look what happened to her. In short, Hell has begun to freeze over so expect pigs to start flying next.

While Simpson-Wentz didn't affect me to a slow screeching death while watching her on Melrose Place, I still can't see how she went from MP trollop to Broadway starlet. As fellow TVO writer/staff member Clarissa says about the abomination situation, "I love Chicago. I love the movie. I love the soundtrack… and this is wrong on so many levels.  I can't even count to the number of levels this is wrong on."

I couldn't have said it better…

Tomorrow marks the show's 40th anniversary (and First Lady Michelle Obama will be appearing as a guest star on Sesame Street to help celebrate) and the show recently re-aired an episode from two years ago where Oscar the Grouch started a news network called GNN (Grouchy News Network).  A caller complained that GNN wasn't grouchy enough and said "From now on, I'm watching Pox News. Now there's a trashy news show."

Naturally, some people have taken this to mean Sesame Street is beating up on Fox News Network and insulting Republicans and other conservatives.  That Oscar sure knows how to incite politician tensions, doesn't he? 

A blogger recently posted my favorite comment: "The message is clear, I can't even sit my kids in front of Sesame Street without having to worry about the Left attempting to undermine my authority."  Interesting choice of words: "undermine MY authority".  Draw your own conclusions.  In other words – in the immortal words of South Park's Cartman – "RESPECT MY AUTHORITAH!"

I love children, but those who are watching Sesame Street are very unlikely to know much about Fox News and the Right/Left debate.  Those kids are more worried about counting to ten than getting involved in politics.  So let's chill out about this, OK? 

On a side note, if you've been visiting a certain search engine lately, you'll notice the Sesame Street Google images that have been showing up in the logo for the past two weeks in celebration of the upcoming anniversary.

According to the Syfy Wire, there is a a war going on between Stargate Universe's producer, Brad Wright, and the Chicago Tribune's Maureen Ryan over a review for ABC's 'V'.

Where does all this fit in with each other?

Well Ms. Ryan's review of 'V' included a swipe at Stargate Universe, which prompted Mr. Wright to comment on the article in the comments section. Mr. Wright's comment ruffled the feathers of Ms. Ryan enough for her to rebuttal with yet another article, this time focusing entirely on Mr. Wright's comments.

A lot of the comments on the second article include rants and raves for Maureen standing by her beliefs and calls for an apology from Brad Wright. Here is a link to the second article.
