While it’s not available on Aamazon yet (should be by mid-May 2010), Tumbler is now available for purchase at the CreateSpace e-store. The book is only 168 pages, costs $11, and if you’re a fan of the story, you’ll want to pick this one up. Here is the LINK.

This version is a streamlined edit of the initial podiobook, with a faster start, and a new chapter that heightens the savage danger of Libby’s life in the deep dark.

I’m still working on an infrastructure for getting signed copies, but for now, if you’d like to order one, just send us $15 through PayPal (brandg@gmail.com) and make sure to leave your mailing address.

Otherwise, if you’re going to Balticon, you can pick up a signed copy there. We will be reading from Tumbler and signing copies there. Hope to see you there!

In 2007, Allison Duncan’s husband drained all of the bank accounts and kicked her out of the house, telling her “You are not welcome in my home.” A week later, his mistress moved in with him. This move left Allison homeless, penniless, and caring for a four-year-old child. She moved in with friends until she could find a job.

Her husband wanted Allison to give up all rightful claims to a fair split in the divorce, and he was incensed to find out that his eviction did not drive her to submit to his demands. He ambushed her with legal proceedings, surprise hearings, and most recently, abuse charges. He was outraged when a judge agreed with Allison, and required him to pay child support. Since that time, he has consistently refused to pay child support, leaving him over five-thousand dollars behind.

For years we have been fighting to keep this child in a safe environment with her mother. Her husband argues that spanking a child at all is abuse, despite the fact that he used to spank her before the split. If you are here, you know us. You know we would never abuse a child. He is doing everything in his power to manipulate the courts into taking Allison’s child away, so that he can force her to capitulate to his demands.

We will fight. We must fight. But the fight is taking it’s toll. We are now thousands of dollars into debt, and the recent abuse charges are going to require new costs for therapists, more legal help, and lots of long-distance travelling. We desperately need help.

I know this is a bad time for the tribe. The recent loss of Natalie Morris is fresh in our minds, as is the horrific disaster in Haiti. But we cannot hold off for a better time. We cannot stop fighting, and we desperately need your help.

There isn’t much I can offer in return. We can offer our heartfelt thanks to all who assist, and you will know that you have made a difference in the life of this wonderful little girl.

Thank you.

If you’re a fan of science fiction, you’ve probably heard of Spider Robinson. He’s a modern successor to Robert A. Heinlein, and writes amazing sci-fi, mostly about human interaction.

What’s less well known is that his wife,Jeanne, has been battling cancer for some time, and it has nearly broken them financially.

I met this guy once at a convention. And while everyone there worshipped him like a pagan god, he and his wife still had time to sit and chat with shlubs like me. I’m honored to say that I’ve given him a pun (read the Callahan Chronicles to understand how cool that is).

These are good people. Noble, wise, and kind people. They deserve our help, and here’s my way of giving it to them.

For the next few days, from now until December 31st, 100% of every Tumbler e-book sale will be donated directly to the Robinsons.

So help out people who deserve it, and get yourself a decent DRM-free story in the meantime.

Some highlights:

“Cast: This one is easy. There is only one member, and her name is S.V. Allie (@svallie on Twitter). I don’t know if you’ll ever read this Ms. Allie, but kudos. You are awesome. Your voice embodies Libby Carter for me.”

“Story: Mr. Gamblin has done his job well (to this point). I have never found him predictable. Rather he has thrown a curve or two taking the story in a direction I would have never anticipated while remaining true to the character and her motivations. Excellent job.”

“I plan on not excepting the proffered .pdf as I prefer to wait to find out what is happening to Libby by hearing Ms. Allie inform me. I will buy the book when it is published.”
