The following regular measures can be used to make plants grow healthy

Most plants require good amount of water and exposure to sunlight. So make sure you provide adequate water and sunlight to the plants. Different plants have different needs for water. Feed the right amount of water for your plants.

If you are using pots, then make sure the pots hold enough soil required for the plant’s roots. Also make sure that the extra water that gets drained out at the bottom doesn’t get collected right below the pot making the pot sit in water. This might cause the plant’s roots to rot and the plant may die.

Protect your plants from pests and viruses. Organic solutions like Neem spray are best for most pest controls.

Make sure the soil is rich enough in nutrients. If you keep adding organic waste or any organic matter as and when required, then there is really no need to use any fertilizers. Also note that in the long run chemical fertilizers do more harm to the soil than being helpful.

If you are using pots, then change the direction of the pots once in few days if required, so that all parts of the plant get exposed to sunlight. This also prevents the plant from growing in only one single direction.

Do not allow weeds to grow around your plants. Remove any weeds in the early stages. If you delay, they might end up harming your plants much before you realize.

Indoor plants might not require direct sunlight, but most of them still do require bright natural light indoors.

Occasionally remove unwanted damaged parts to allow growth of fresh parts in your plants.

In very hot and dry seasons water the plants twice a day.

A taxi company charges two dollars for the first mile...

The post Solve Taxi Travel Fare Math Problem appeared first on CyberFunda.

A taxi-cab company charges $ 2.00 for the first mile (or part of a mile) and $ 0.20 for every tenth (or part of a tenth) of a mile beyond the first. Write a function C(x) the computes the cost (in dollars) for a trip of distance x (in miles). Graph C(x) for the domain 0 ≤ x ≤ 2.

Solution to Taxi Math Problem

The taxi cab will not charge any amount if the taxi does not cover any distance at all. So for x = 0, the value of C(x) will be 0.

The amount charged for first mile is 2 dollars. So the minimum amount charged by the Taxi Cab will always be 2 dollars for any value of distance x between 0 and 1.
So for x > 0 and x ≤ 1, the value of function C(x) will be 2

The amount charged for every additional 1/10 of a mile is 20 cents. This means for every additional 0.1 mile, the amount of 0.2 dollars.
So for x > 1, the value of function C(x) will be 2 + 0.2 * (x-1)
We have x-1 here because the first mile is charged for 2 dollars already.

Now in step 3 above we need to round off the value to 20 cents (0.2 dollars), because say if the taxi travels 0.26 miles, then the taxi cab company will charge for near 1/10 of a mile which in this will be 0.3 miles.
So for x > 1, the value of function C(x) will be 2 + 0.2 * [10(x − 1)] where [10(x − 1)] is the round off of the value to whole tenths.

So the answer is

C(x) = 0 when x = 0

C(x) = 2 when 0< x ≤1

C(x) = 2 + 0.2 * [10(x − 1)] when x > 1

The graph for C(x) when 0 ≤ x ≤ 2 is below

Sustainable Development is the one which can be continued for a longer period of time in the future. If you have a development model which can ensure smooth running of the business and good profit making not just for the next few months, but for a couple of years to come or even more, then that refers to Sustainable Development. The availability of market, raw materials, supply, demand, profit all should be sustainable in the foreseen future.

If the weight is 70 Newtons on Earth, then the mass is around 7 kilograms.

Weight = Mass x acceleration due to gravity.

Hence Weight = Mass x 9.8 (9.8ms-2 is the value of acceleration due to gravity.)

The mass of 7 kilograms remains the same everywhere, where as the weight changes depending on gravity. So a weight of 7 Newtons on Earth would be around 1.13 Newtons on Moon, because moon has 1/6 of the gravity of Earth.
