If you research any successful entrepreneur, you will find a consistent common ground with all of them and that is there attitude. There is a difference between a winning attitude and a losing attitude. What may seem unfortunate is that there are many ways do apply a losing attitude, but pretty much only one winning attitude, but the truth is that this is fantastic news.

If there is only one winning attitude then all you need to do is identify it, adopt it and apply it. If you keep that up then you can be assured of success in your chosen venture. What we’ll look at here is the winning attitude as directed towards creating your own personal income system that fits with who you are and what you want to say in the world.

It is actually really simple in theory, but what makes it difficult to adopt a winning attitude for many is the fact that over years of your life you have developed your attitude, whatever it is and if there are parts (or all in some cases) of that attitude that need to be changed then you have to put in some work to change what have become automatic, habitual patterns of thinking and acting.

An Inside Game
In short, the work you need to do starts with watching your thoughts and identifying dominant thought patterns that you apply in any situation. Once identified they can then be neutralized, transformed or converted to something more serving of your intentions and goals. It is the only place you can start to have any lasting improvement ion results because everything outside of you is only the way it is because of your perception and interpretation of it. Become more aware of your perception and interpretation processes and you will then begin to see everything outside of yourself in a more positive and supportive light. That is when you can start being a person who sees opportunity and "Makes things happen", just like those successful folks you wish to emulate.

In fact that is another great tip to developing a successful mind set. Think of a successful person you admire, aspire to emulate or respect. You may even know that person. The research what they have done to get where they are and model your plan of action on theirs. Their system worked for them, so it is a good place to start creating your own system, based on something that works.

The other way that is pretty crucial to achieving success is to have a mentor or coach, which is rather similar to modeling yourself on somebody else, except you have their input and feedback to your situation to go along with their methods. If you start working on your mind set and awareness you will meet somebody who will provide this valuable contribution to you. I have met several people since bravely stepping out into the new world of what I am pursuing in life and I can tell you it makes one hell of a positive difference.

"But isn’t it difficult starting by yourself with no guidance from such people and how do I start modeling my plan on someone I admire. What do I have to do by myself first to grow my awareness to a level where I will start to see these opportunities and attract these people into my life?"

Where to Start?
Excellent question. There are many ways to start like, writing things down – Listen to this song and tell me if you found it helpful in inspiring you to get started. Once you get a clearer picture of how you want to, say create your own portable income to free up your time to live the life of your dreams you will start having ideas as to how you can bring it into existence and with that awareness and your developing plan of action, you will start to encounter opportunities and people who can and will help you.

So lets say that you have an idea for an online business. You are very clear about what you want to achieve, the lifestyle you desire doing this and the area of business you want to succeed in. You may have your idea developed with total clarity, so where do you find the essential mentorship?

A Free Resource to Keep You Inspired
A good way to start is to just make contacts and engage in conversations with like-minded people. Often you will find a helping hand as a result of striking up a conversation with somebody, rather than putting an ad in the paper or something. The internet is a great place to connect instantly with people of a like mind or who have similar goals to you, who could become valuable allies and one of the best places to engage in such focused conversation and help you get even more momentum to your projects and ideas is The Boundless Living Challenge 2009. I know what following Bob Doyle’s principles can achieve because I have been referring to his material for about 2 years now and I am very happy with the results.

Now I think at times like this we actually have an opportunity to really discover who we are and what we really want to do in life and guess what . If you decided to do that now then by the time the economy is strong and everyone has lots of disposable income again, you will be established, respected and well known in your chosen area of business because you thrived. You overcame the challenges, continued to provide value and exude an air of passion about what you do that will continue to see your business attract a loyal and consistent flow of customers.

OK, so this sounds quite dramatic doesn’t it? Well I can tell you it is, but it’s nowhere near as dramatic as the negative melodrama being perpetuated by the majority of the world right now. I have chosen to break away from the crowd and already my actions are being noticed. Well to be truthful I get varied feedback, like "You’re inspiring", "You’re crazy", "You’re living in a dream land". Let me tell you, I actually do live the life of my dreams and dream land feels more real than what is peddled as reality in most of the world. It’s a far sight better than the misery I see elsewhere and would love to play a part in changing if I possibly can, which is what I am attempting to do in my own small way.

This follows on from my article about applying the law of attraction, which I thought may be out of place at Traveling Money, but Bob Doyle has proved to me that this is the perfect place and time to apply the Law of Attraction. What is it that most people want to "attract", well the answer to that is money. I wish more people said peace, love and joy, but the fact is that money is what people want and the freedom to enjoy having that money.

Passion to Profit is a blueprint for creating exactly that, abundant income, abundance of free time to enjoy what that income can give you and the ability to live the life you want to live. I know how that feels, so I have no hesitation in saying that if you want to stick with "reality" and not investigate Passion into Profit then go ahead, but that is the "crazy" option.

I see it mentioned many times on the internet that it has never been easier to make money online and I agree with that, but the fact is that it has always been that way. Whether making money is easy or difficult is dependent on whether you believe it is easy or difficult. It is as simple as that.

For people who find it difficult to make money, whether it is online or otherwise I have this to say: The method by which you have chosen to make a living is not in the area where you are naturally interested, gifted at or passionate about. Everybody has something that they "live for" whether or not you have discovered what that is or not, you have it and once discovered is the very catalyst for becoming naturally able to make money, by sharing what it is and providing value with it.

There are other ways to make money, but trust me, even if they make you a lot of money I bet that it does not feel easy to you if it is something that doesn’t make you want to get up in the morning. When you know what it is you have that you can deliver value with, you will be excited and motivated enough to do it, enjoy it and succeed at it. There will always be challenges and obstacle, but you will find ways to overcome those if you really, truly are intent on it.

When you are coming from a place of purpose and intent and committed 100% to it, you will make money, simple as that. You will also have the experience that it is easy and you will naturally find a way of doing all this without sacrificing all the other areas of your life, like eating properly, getting enough sleep, spending enough time with your kids, your wife, your husband and socializing with your friends. That is the myth of "Hard work and success" They are not inextricably linked, so remember this.

If you are trying to make money online doing Multi-Level-Marketing without much success and you don’t enjoy it then stop doing it. It is not for everyone. In fact I personally can’t stand doing it because it is so far removed from who I am. I like writing, creating music and I have a desire to inspire. If you want to make money online then stick with something you love and write about it or teach it or both and do it for the love of it. If you need to make money now then find a job that will allow you to build your dream money-making process and commit your free time to creating it, so you can then quit that job and live your heart’s desire.

I don’t buy into this story about the economy being so bad. I just don’t have time for excuses like that. That is a problem so far removed from me having any direct control over it that I believe it can’t possibly have any direct effect on me.

This website is about creating a portable income, so you can be free to choose where you are and what you do for as much of the time as possible and with that I see the Law of Attraction as having some relevancy.

For many people, money is a real sticking point. For many, money is difficult to come by, it is difficult to make. Phrases like "You have to work hard and sacrifice things to make money", "It is not possible to make money from doing something artistic or creative"… I could go on, but I’m getting bored with that myself, so lets look at how the Law of Attraction could help you to realize your intentions of creating a portable income.

Forget visualizing and affirmations for now. These are useless until you have total clarity about what it is you really want. I don’t mean what you think you want, but what you have your heart set on. The only way to be clear of that is to communicate with your heart. Your heart knows what it is already and you just have to get yourself set up to hear what it tells you. Once you know then you can visualize and make affirmations, but of course you will be so motivated to pursue your heart’s desire that you will naturally be vibrating in alignment with your intention by being who you are with this awareness of what you have your heart set on.

Let’s say you have set out into the big wide world, looking for an adventure and you are trying to fund your travels by making money on the internet from your website for example. Your real intention is not to make money – Am I right? Your intention is to see the world and experience it as fully as you can. If you don’t make money while you are traveling you will have to go back home and get a job, which will cut short the experience you desire, so that is a quick example of the fact that if you have been focused on having lots of money or gaining a particular thing or status as your primary goal in life, you are not quite clear about what you really want because your heart does not need any of those things.

You may require certain material things to enable to carry out your heart’s desire. I require musical instruments and recording equipment (very lovely things to have in my opinion) in order for me to fulfil my purpose of creating music and making a living (there is a further purpose to that, but this post is not about me).

So don’t feel bad about wanting the things you want, just realize that for any desire that has a tangible, physical, material goal there is always a bigger, deeper and more spiritual prize at the end of it.

I see Traveling Money as a liberator. It doesn’t really matter about the amount of money generated as long as it is an amount sufficient to maintain the lifestyle you desire, which includes doing what you do, not just the level of comfort you experience.

So all I suggest is that if it is something you have never considered that maybe you do take it into account and look to see if you want to start applying the law of attraction purposefully towards achieving your hearts desires and keeping the life of your dreams alive. I don’t view the Law of Attraction as anything new-age or metaphysical. I have seen some very convincing positive results since being aware of it and acting according to that awareness I can’t ignore it. It is certainly an interactive process, not a magic one. My wife, being a Buddhist has helped me enormously too as she seems to already know all of this stuff that I am discovering for new every day. She is like a mentor and a life coach sometimes!

Starting an online business is definitely a journey worth taking.  If you can just imagine all the possibilities out there to make money, you would be a fool not to even attempt to start an online business.  The thing is, you can simply think your way to online business success!  What do I mean by that?  You’ll begin to understand this once you start reading these 7 tips:

1.  Focus – Stay focused on your business and "keep your eye on the prize".  Stop thinking about all those bills you have to pay!  Ok – yes, you do have bills that must be paid, but mulling over those bills is not going to bring in more money.  If you spent 10 minutes worrying about whether or not your rent was going to get paid on time, that’s 10 minutes you lost which could have been used to research a new stream of income.  What I’ve learned is that worrying gets you nowhere! Staying focused and putting positive energy into your venture will produce better results.

"…There’s this common, well-known truth that ‘what you focus on expands.’  It’s simple math.  The more you focus on the things you want, the more of those things you manifest in your life…"

In essence, when you stay focused on building your online business, it’s inevitable that you will succeed! Stay focused on your business, keep brainstorming all the different ways to bring in more income, and have faith that The Universe will bring you the business you need in due time.

2.  Meditate – Take just 15 minutes out of your busy day to clear your mind, give your eyes a rest, and open up the channels to receive more abundant resources that will help you accelerate your business.  You can even say an affirmation like, "I now receive abundant resources to help me with my online business."

Most online business entrepreneurs just starting out try to read as much information that they can get their hands on which can lead to information overload!  Taking breaks and meditating gives your mind time to process all that information.

3.  Give your website visitors information that they can’t find anywhere else –  There is this very popular phrase on the internet…"Content is King!" The majority of people who browse the internet are looking for information.  If you can help them find what they’re looking for, they’ll come back to your website again and again.

4.  Work smarter, not harder -  In the book, The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work and What to Do About It, Michael Gerber outlines how you can work "on" your business and not "in it".  Here are some of the questions he asks:

5.  Know that your business is already a success - Just by taking that first step to start a business you’ve already become a success!  Not too many people are courageous enough to do what you are doing, so be grateful for the opportunity.  Stay focused on the now and simply trust that the resources you will need for every step of your journey will come in due time.  Stop chasing that money!

6.  Take a Day Off –  If you’re a very driven person like I am and love what you do, you sometimes forget to take a day off!  However, trust me, doing this will make you even more productive.  You’ll come back to work with more energy and fresh ideas.

7.  Make a To Do List – Write down your goals and look at them every day before you start work.  This will keep you more focused and inspired when you feel caught in a rut.Success with an online business is inevitable if you simply have fun with your work and have the intention of helping others and providing value to your customers!  Now that isn’t hard, right?

Not every online business does well at first.  That statement is not intended to try and bring you down, I just said it because sometimes it takes a little time to pick up momentum and get the word out about your business.  This may mean a little bit of overtime on your part in doing research about marketing strategies and social networking.  Then there’s time spent implementing your marketing strategy and getting to know what your customers want and need.  Furthermore, everyone has different learning curves and every person has only so much time that they can devote to this new venture.

You see, what most entrepreneurs fail to realize is that when they start a business, their sole mission above everything else is to help people.  They’re vision becomes short-sighted with the promise of riches when in actuality the vision should be about making a contribution to society.   How will your product or service make life easier for other people?  What are the benefits of doing business with you?  Do you have something that is unique that will make your customers’ lives better?

If you start your online business with the mindset of helping others, you’ll be more inclined to go the extra mile for those people.  Customers like to see your passion and willingness to help which will more than likely bring them back to you again and again for your product or service. 

When it’s your mission to help people instead of just “making money”, you’ll begin to find more meaning in your business and your life.  I’m sure many of you have heard that saying “Do what you love and the money will follow”.  Well, it’s absolutely true!

Find Your Why
So, have you figured out why you want to start a business?  I would recommend sitting down and writing down your reasons for starting an online business.  Who do I want to help?  Why do I feel compelled to help them?  What kind of difference do I want to make in the world? 

It is only after answering these questions can you start thinking about the money aspects of starting on online business like how much you want to make each year and the things you will do with the money you make.  Being motivated by money is fine, but being driven to help others is much more fulfilling. Trust me, you’ll become more successful going that route!

The beauty of having your very own online business is that you get to be your own boss.  Wouldn’t it be great to decide how you want to operate a business?  For people who are true entrepreneurs, this is the ultimate dream – Oh, the freedom!  Oh, the joy!
There is no set definition of entrepreneurship, but many people have adopted this one definition given by Harvard Business School:

Without entrepreneurs, the business world would not evolve and we wouldn’t have exciting networks such as MySpace or Facebook and resources like Digg or YouTube.  These companies were born from the ideas of forward-thinking entrepreneurs.  Entrepreneurs run every business that exists today, whether it is a big corporation or a small business.  Without entrepreneurs, we would not have all the different choices in airlines or automobiles and we would not have all the different varieties of products and services that exist today. Without entrepreneurs, we would not have unique ideas for businesses such as Powerbook Studio!

So, what are the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs? 

In essence, being an entrepreneur is all about attitude. If you always maintain a positive attitude about your business and are willing to "think outside the box", you will have fun and your success will be inevitable!

So, who do you want to be? Do you want to be the entrepreneur who thinks big and accomplishes big things in life? On the other hand, do you want to be an employee – the person who takes orders and simply wants job security?  Do not get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with being an employee, but my intention is to inspire and tell you that the opportunities are endless when you become an entrepreneur. Some people just do not have the personality to become an entrepreneur and that is fine, although this is something that can be changed by commited work on your self-belief.  Perhaps you find more meaning in working for someone else… However, don’t you want to have the freedom to spend more time doing things you love and making money from it?

Inspired partly by the article Five Characteristics of the Successful Entrepreneur by Maria I became aware of something fundamental and, I believe necessary about business and career dealings that also apply to all aspects of life: Interaction. Living a life of freedom creating travelling money cannot be regarded as freedom unless you are interacting; providing value to people or the world in general. It is for this reason that I want to include something both uniquely creative and potentially, highly interactive as a way of generating an income from anywhere.

Take my particular field: Music Production & Sound Recording.
Now, we can all agree that making music is highly creative, but maybe it is not so obvious that it is very easy now for this process to be mobile. Very mobile indeed. Location sound recording, music production, voiceover recording. The list goes on. I personally have a professional recording studio that fits in a backpack although now you can carry out professional location sound recording with a device little bigger than an iPod. This enables me to be a producer with all my tools at my disposal anywhere on the planet. This is amazing! I can be in the flow engaging with my passion and the results of my creative action has the potential to earn money and lots of it. The internet is a great ally to have as it enables me to send the finished product to clients, but it doesn’t mean I have to look to the internet itself to make me money. I can and do keep the line of communication with clients and prospects by telephone (or Skype, of course), so I can effectively create an online business, but there is so much more scope to it than that. I can work with local people in the area that I am in at that time. I can write and record songs and I can create soundscapes, sound effects and record sound for film in conjuction with a film crew that I could easily meet up with on my travels. Travelling is the best way to network if you didn’t already know! All of the products of these processes then have a value because they can be sold in physical or downloadable formats or they can provide a residual income in the form of repeated royalties in the case of having a production credit on a recording or having a composition being used in the media.

So now you see that travelling money doesn’t have to be an online business. It doesn’t have to be a blog or network marketing. It can be whatever you want it to be. Of course if you have no skills in the area of music production you will most likely have realised that this outlook can be applied to anything: Photography, movie making, even handicrafts. If you can adapt to your environment and create something unique to that then you can be sure of always having a unique selling point. Your talents are unique. That is what is so beautiful about it and the reason why travelling money is potentially the easiest money that you can create.

So, why should you start an online business?

There are many reasons to start an online business including:

Freedom

Many people start an online business to have some extra income.  Others start because they’re tired of having a “job”, they dislike their boss, they realize that their 9-5 just isn’t getting them anywhere in life, etc.  What all entrepreneurs probably can agree on is that they start an online business because they want FREEDOM. 

How would you like to be able to wake up whenever you want and not have to start off the day in a rush because you overslept?  What about being able to spend quality time with your kids and/or spouse?  How about taking a month-long vacation instead of a week vacation that we typically get with most companies?  This is the type of life you could live if you have an online business!  Doesn’t that sound divine?  I don’t know one person who doesn’t want the freedom to come and go as they please! 

The majority of us were brought up thinking that we had to go out and work for someone else to get anywhere in life.  I believe “job security” is the phrase that is used most often.  However, if you’ve been paying close attention to the corporate world, you’ll notice that this “job security” is a big joke!  Nobody is immune to that pink slip! 

Pursue Your Passions

There’s nothing more fulfilling in life than to be able to do something you love and make money in the process.  Too many of us are influenced by family or friends to do something simply because “you’ll make good money” and we never stop to think to do work that makes us happy. 

Why not create an online business that focuses on the things that bring you the greatest bliss?  If you do a study on people who have successful online businesses, I can guarantee that you’ll discover that all of them are doing something they love and are bringing value to their customers. 

When you pursue your passions, you’ll soon discover that your life has more meaning.    Pretty soon everything you do won’t seem like “work”.  You’re doing these things to help other people and in turn, you’ll be helping yourself create a substantial amount of income.  Definitely a win-win situation! 

Money Potential

If you have a “regular” full-time job you know how much you will make every payday. 
Sometimes you’ll make more with bonuses and maybe you’ll make less because you call in sick, but overall you know what to expect on that paycheck.  And if you’re in a salaried position you could work 80 hours a week and still get paid the same amount! 

If you have an online business, the opportunities are endless!  You can double, triple, or even quadruple your business every two weeks.  You may have to work a little more in the beginning, but once your business is established you can work as little or as much as you want! 

Just like anything in life, you have to take that first step to get what you want.  Ask yourself if you really want to start an online business.  If the answer is “Yes!” then take action now!

Who has the time to build a relationship with their customers? I am sure that is a question that is running through many of your minds. After all, there is marketing that needs to be done and a website to maintain. There is no time to interact with customers! Oh, but if you only knew!

I’m not talking about sending subscribers a newsletter every month or offering a guarantee on your product… I’m talking about being a friend and a mentor to your customers! In the business world there’s this 80/20 rule. 80% of your business will come from 20% of your efforts, or 80% of your business will come from 20% of your customers.

When was the last time any online business person did any of these things for you? I would say that it is probably 1 in 1,000! Doing these things will make you stand out from the rest and you can best believe that people will remember you the next time they need something that you have to offer!

In essence, business is about relationships and treating your customers just like how you would want to be treated. Pretty soon you’ll have so many customers raving about you that you won’t even have to pay for marketing. Your customers will do all the marketing for you!
