Flight time for most flights is just over 11 hours including a short layover in Madrid. You’ll only be in the air for about 8 hours combined.

The cheapest flights leave on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, then return on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Saturdays, so yes, you can even fly on the weekends.

Flights on all other airlines usually cost at least $1000.

Must fly before April, though it appears that this price is available on most days throughout January, February, and March.

If you fly other days of the week, you can easily keep your costs below $300, and on most days, under $250 as well.

Virgin also offers flights to San Francisco, as well as to LA and San Diego, if you’re looking for a little California adventure.

Flights are one-stop, and last about 6 hours. The cheapest flights are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

Boston to Miami flights on US Airways have a quick layover in Charlotte.

This is a popular route, so many airlines offer alternative flights. For about 20 dollars more, you can fly direct to Miami with American Airlines.

Continental, United, and Delta all offer discount flights to Miami as well.

Full details of the British Airways discount is here. Must fly before the middle of May. Top destinations include Rome, Milan, Paris, Cairo, Istanbul, and Mumbai.

The cheapest flights are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and flights are in November.

As an alternative, you can fly with KLM Airlines, which offers flights at $608. Their flights have a single layover and can last about twice as long.

Delta also offers direct flights to Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris for $585.

If I had to choose between Delta and Air France, I’d choose Air France every time.

As it turns out, these aren’t even the cheapest flights to either of these cities right now.

The cheapest flights from Boston to Barcelona are $532 right now with British Airways, most of which fly in November. If you can, try flying on Fridays.

The cheapest flights from Boston to Paris are with Iberia Airlines for $548 right now. Try flying on Tuesdays and Wednesdays if you can to reduce the cost.

The Royal Palace of Madrid. No Big Deal.

Flights are the cheapest early in the week, but flights on the weekends are under $700 on most weekends as well.

US Airways is also offering one-stop flights roundtrip for about $10 more than Air Canada, with layovers in Philadelphia, and which take about twice as long.

Direct flights are about 7 hours long.

So, if you can, fly Monday-Wednesday. You’ll save at least $100 dollars, cut out at least 14 hours of extra travel time, and reduce the chances of missing a stopover or getting delayed at some of the busiest airports in the world.

Most Visitors to Costa Rica Head to the Coasts

In early December, you can catch a roundtrip flight to Costa Rica from Boston including all taxes and fees for $274.

This is one of the best deals on a flight to Costa Rica that I’ve seen in a while.

Flights at this price are available on most days of the week. Expect a slight increase in price around Christmas, as that is one of the most popular travel periods for Costa Rican tourism.

Once you fly into San Jose (be sure that you are buying a flight to San Jose, Costa Rica, and not San Jose, CA) , most travelers either head to the East Coast or West Coast. The East Coast tends to have more of a Caribbean feel, but either coastal region offers plenty of surf, beach, and jungle.

Once you’ve taken in enough sun and beach for one vacation, you can head inland to the mountains and cloud forest, where it is noticeably less developed.

They have created an account for JetBlue Cheeps - here - that announced last minute flights to many of their destinations, often for as cheap as $7 (though you will have to pay taxes and fees on top of that as well, usualy rounding out the price to about 30 bucks)

Kyoto is Only a 2.5 Hour Bullet Train Ride from Tokyo

Now, anyone can fly to Tokyo direct from LAX airport for $472 including all taxes and fees. Flights are DIRECT, which is extremely, rare especially at this price.

I’ve confirmed this discount on a number of different dates, including weekend and weekday flights.

Here’s a full list of discounts on Singapore Airlines for their most recent promo that ends August 7th (this coming Friday). Flights to Japan are definitely the best deal on the list, though they’ve been offering deals to many different Asian cities all summer, so lets hope they start offering these discounts again.

Singapore Airlines is also one of the best airlines to fly coach, and direct flights between LA and Tokyo is only 11 hours.

Final disclaimer, you must fly in at least a group of two to get this discount.

So, about half the time of flying to Europe from LA. You can also take a the very-fast and very-modern Japanese Bullet Train from Tokyo to Kyoto, which only takes 2.5 hours.

What’s more, in Tokyo, you can also book the Westin hotel for $189/night, compared to $400/night that it costs usually. More details on that here.

Flights have a quick layover in Iceland, and flight time should stay under 10 hours each way.

From Oslo, many travelers head north to the Fjords. After looking at some of these pics, you’ll see why.

There are plenty of coastline cruises that leave directly from Oslo as well.

Which Way to the Pub? Ah, up and to the right.

Flights have a quick layover at JFK Airport in New York. Flight time is about sixteen hours each way.

The cheapest flights to London leave and come back on either Tuesday or Wednesday. Flying on other days, including weekends, can bump up flight price by another 50 to one hundred dollars.

These are some of the cheapest flights I’ve seen to London in a while, where airlines can be charged as much as 200 dollars just to dock at one of the major airports.

As an alternative to London, you can sometimes fly into Manchester, which is north of London.

The Endangered Galapagos Tortoise - Quito is a common jump off point before heading to these islands.

Both LACSA and Taca Airlines offering flights between LAX and Mariscal Sucr airport in Quito for under 500 dollars round trip including all taxes and fees.

The cheapest flights usually involve both airlines and need to be booked on a third party site like cheaptickets.com or Orbitz

Also for the cheapest flights, there is usually a six hour layover in one of the directions in Costa Rica. Total flight time in either direction is never more than 20 hours and without the layover, flight time is under 10 hours each way.

From Quito, Many people head for the Galapagos, but there is plenty to see on the mainland as well. Ecuador has its own patch of the Andes mountains ready to be explored, plus there is the western part of the Amazon, both very accessible from Quito.

Usually you can book these flights even a few weeks in advance at this price, though mid-day flights can creep up in price if you don’t buy these tickets a month or two in advance.

Virgin America has been reporting profits lately, so I’m not expecting these discounts to go away any time soon.

If they do, you can always check for cheap flights between LA and San Francisco on Southwest, or checking other airlines such as United or American.

Try to Make the Mimes Flinch on Las Ramblas

Flights typically have two quick layovers, in Boston and Madrid, and flight time is about 20 hours each way.

Flights are on Iberia Airlines.

From Barcelona, its very easy and inexpensive to take trains, buses, and flights to other parts of Europe as well. There’s an eight hour bus ride that will take you to South Eastern France, and the Spanish train system can take you all around Spain.

Flights between Barcelona and Madrid are some of the most frequent in the world as well.

In Barcelona, there is no shortage of nightlife, restaurants, museums, beaches, and people watching. Most people head straight to Las Ramblas or the Picasso museum during the day, and then to any one of the all-night clubs during the late evening.

Flights are with Air France, and have a quick layover in Atlanta. Flight time is about sixteen hours each way.

American Airlines, Delta, and Continental are all offering flights for under 600 dollars as well, so I expect these flight prices to stay low for a while.

The cheapest flights are Monday through Friday, and price goes down considerably starting in late August

Once in Dublin, there are many cheap flights to other parts of the UK as well, especially to London and Edinburgh.

Once in Madrid, its easy to catch a train to all regions of Spain and Portugal. Or, if you are feeling a little bit more adventurous, you can usually catch a flight to Morocco for under 200 dollars.

Spain is one of the cheapest places to fly to right now, and especially in Europe. Other cheap European destinations are Germany, Switzerland, and Greece. I’ve found an occasional cheap flight to Rome as well.

This could be one of the best times to fly to any of these cities, as these are some of the cheapest flights I’ve seen in a while. Especially to Vancouver and Quebec. Two of my favorite Canadian cities.

- A two-night minimum stay is required, and a maximum stay of 30 days is permitted

Flights leave on most days of the week.

Singapore Airlines also offers discounted flights to Thailand, but their flights typically have two stops and can take as long 24 hours each way.

The China Airlines flights only take about 12 hours each way. So you’ll have an extra 24 hours to ride elephants, drink Tiger beers on the beach, or go to full moon parties - whatever your down with.

This is one of the best times to visit the Northeast. Temperatures are usually in the 80s and humid, with a slight breeze, especially in coastal areas in Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, Newport RI, or up north in Maine.

American Airlines also offers cheap direct flights between LA and Boston, but I prefer Virgin for their in-flight free drinks and TV.

As with most Virgin America Flights, you often need to book a month or two in advance to get the fully discounted fares

Flight Restrictions:

Flight price really depends on which day you can fly. I found this flight for leaving on Wednesday, May 27th, and flying back on either June 2nd (Tuesday) or June 4th (Thursday).

Flight time is between 11 and 14 hours each way.

I’m not the biggest fan of AirTran, but for 50 bucks each way, I’ll tuck myself into a window seat and stare at the back of the seat in front of my for 45 minutes.

Virgin also flies between DC and Boston, so you could check for flights from them as well.

Weather in Boston gets particularly nice around late May until early July, before it gets too humid, and this can be the perfect time to catch a ferry or ride to anywhere along Cape Cod, Newport Rhode Island, or southern New Hampshire.

Flight Details:

This is the standard price for this flight. So, you may need to book a few weeks in advance, but cost should stay at under $220 regardless of the day you fly.

Frankfurt is also a great jump off point to other European cities, as it has a very active train station with many trains going to all major and minor European cities.

Flight Details:

Flights are non-stop on United. I also found some cheap flights with American Airlines and Lufthansa, but $520 is for the United flight.

Flight time is 7-8 hours for non-stop flights.

Initially, try doing a fare search for flying May 20 to May 27th (yup, its coming up)

Things to See in Paris:

In addition to being a gateway into the rest of France and Western Europe, try visiting any of the following in Paris: The Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Basilique de St Denis, Ballon Eutelsat, Champ-Elysee Avenue, Cabinet des Médailles et Monnaies, and the Catacombes de Paris - just to name a few of the hundreds of attractions that many tourists flock to in Paris every summer.

The Hulk Ride at Universal Studios, Orlando

Flight Details:

Need to book soon. Fly on Wednesdays, for the cheapest airfare.

Looks like Airfare is offering similarly priced flights later in May as well. I’ve also found some comparably cheap flights on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Try doing searches on a travel search engine like Sidestep.

Things to do in Orlando:

Orlando has the most rollercoasters per capita in the United States. That’s quite a few rollercoasters. My suggestion would be to head to the Universal Studios first, home to the Hulk Rollercoaster ride (pictures), then make a few days for Disney World and Paradise Island.

Flight Details:

Must book before May 21. Must fly after April 30th.

Expect some airfare and government imposed taxes, which could be around a hundred bucks more.

Things to Do in Cape Town:

A natural stop for most people that visit South Africa, Cape Town is situated at the southermost point in Africa, right next to the Cape of Good Hope. Many people come here for the surfing, but there is also plenty of small hikes, such as Table Mountain, plus South African vineyards, and nearby safari tours.
