I'm going to assume you're fully capable of finding suitable affiliate products, but you also need to find ones that have appropriate displays banners.

2. How to promote those backlinks

Tracking Who Has Just Linked To You

• Google Alerts
  Set up an alert for your own domain name.
• Trackbacks and pingbacks from your blog's ad panel
• Type link: on Yahoo or linkdomain: on Google in the Search field. Follow that command with the URL of your website; for example, "www.justanexample.com."
  
  This is for sites that have previously linked to you.

How To Promote Those Backlinks

• Bookmark the backlinks with Ping.fm
• Or bookmark the backlinks with SocialPoster
• Submit the backlinks to IndexKings
  Copy and paste all the urls generated from IndexKings for your files.
• Repeat the above for trackback and pingback urls.

The net result of your efforts will be many more backlinks for sites linking to you.

These extra backlinks should help the page rank of the sites providing you with backlinks and in turn improve your own site's SE rankings.

Engines For Your Own Name

When you are active on the Internet, you can have a lot of influence, but no control.

By that I mean you can influence what people think about you, but really have no control over it.

In general in life you will be much happier not worrying about things you can't control.

You can't control the impulse people will have on the Internet to Google your name and see what they find.

You can influence, however, what they will see on the first page of Google for your name.

Here are three key steps to take to manifest that influence:

1. Buy the .com and .net versions of your own name (complete with middle initial).
   
   RobertAKearse.com re-directs to my "about page" (Shocking Bio) on this blog.

I use MyDomain.com when I buy domain names. With a coupon code the domains costs a little over $9 (US) each.

MyDomain.com offers (as do most domain registrars) a free re-direct service. So I just pointed RobertAKearse.com to the url of my about page.

2. Use your full name when making blog comments.
   
   In the "name" slot enter your full name when you make a blog comment. Vary between including your middle intial and just using first and last name.
   
   In the "website" slot put the url of your name if you have developed an appropriate page on that domain
   
   In some cases you may want to enter the url of your "about" page.
   
   You may want to re-direct in some cases, so it is wise to buy both the .com and .net versions of your name.
   
   As the number of comments grows on the Internet, your selected pages will rise in the search engine rankings and get to the first page of Google for your own name.
   
   With some bookmarking and pinging of the comment pages (after approval) you should soon see your selected pages ranking #1 in the search engines.
   
   To clarify things, you should bookmark your "about" page or the domain page you develop for your name url, also.
   
   Avoid using this technique on blogs using CommentLuv or KeywordLuv.





Multiple Bios On "About" Pages


3. Use internal linking HTML Code For Your Bio
   
   If you are active on a site with multiple contributors (with multiple bios on the about page), then you should code the page so you can use an url that will take people precisely to your bio on the page.
   
   Use this tutorial for how to put an anchor link on any page. Look for "A named anchor inside an HTML document:"

   Then, use that special url in the "website" slot when you make blog comments.
