Tizzalicious Make-Over

I have been a member of Link Referral for a while, a site where other members can review your site. I am happy to say that all the reviews I have gotten are great, but there are two things a few people brought up that could do with some changes: The dark pink text on a light pink backtround was hard to read on some peoples screens, and they would like the pictures to be larger.

As we say in Holland: "De klant is koning" (The customer is king), so I decided to change these things.

It was a lot of work, and I spent all of my free time on it lately, thinking I would never be done. But this weekend I finally finished! The new versions of both Tizzalicious.com and Tizzalicious.nl, and the wholesale area of the site, are now online.

So what's new?

♥ A new zoom in system for the images. They now get bigger, and load faster.
♥ The products are now sorted from new to old, instead of the other way around.
♥ Navigation buttons on the left hand side, instead of all mixed up in the header
♥ A white background to make the text stand out more

I am very happy with how it turned out, especially the tool to zoom in. It looks fantastic.

Keys (Or Lack ThereOf)

I have turned into one of those people who forget their keys all the time. I am blaming my boyfriend. He always used to forget his, and he seems to have passed the forgot-your-keys-virus on to me.

Over the past few months I have had to hang out at the airport, wander around aimlessly in the rain, and try to climb through the kitchen window. Today I forgot them again, I went for a long walk because I decided I need some more exercise. Well exercise I got! When I came home from my walk I found out I forgot my keys. Of course the neighbours who have the spare key were at work, so I had to walk to my mom's work to get hers. And then walk back of course. I was dead from my first walk, so you can imagine just how dead I was when I got home from retrieving the keys!

I gave the boyfriend one of these for his birthday a few years ago. Maybe I should start using it myself instead?

4 Years Of Love

The boyfriend and I went out for a delicious Greek dinner today to celebrate our 4 year anniversary, which was last week! Four years since I flew to Denmark to meet him again, after a week of crazy (drunken) fun in Amsterdam that summer. Who would have thought I'd be repeating that trip between Copenhagen and Amsterdam over and over the next few years?

I wish I had a recent picture of us together, but I don't, so this one from 2 summers ago will have to do. Maybe I should hang out with people people with cameras some more, so I am not the only one taking pictures all the time? Or maybe we should MySpace it up again some time, like we did another day that summer?

It's time to stop being in denial, summer is definitely over, and autumn is here. That means it's time for Halloween! I just gave Tizzalicious.com a Halloween makeover, and I used Etsy's new shop sorting tool to move all my autumn & Halloween themed items to the first two pages of my Etsy shop.

I have also added a few new items, like cute bat stud earrings in pink & purple, and some more sugar skulls studs. As always, you can find them at Tizzalicious.com, Etsy & DaWanda.

Seeing myself in print never fails to make my day. Not that I have been featured in magazines a lot, until recently, a feature in a South African newspaper was the only "seeing myself in print experience" I had.

Then 2 months ago, the owner of Open Shop Amsterdam e-mailed me, saying one of my necklaces was in Cosmo Girl (Dutch Edition), but that it was accidently credited to her own brand. I contacted Cosmo Girl about it, and they told me they would fix it somehow. I expected a tiny little mention saying "Oops, we made a mistake", but they actually printed my e-mail (though slightly edited) and a picture of the necklace in the letters section of the magazine!

It brought me a whole bunch of new Dutch customers. Thank you Cosmo Girl!

There was more Tizzalicious in Print fun this week though. The Crafty Market I attended last weekend printed a booklet to send to the press, and for the sellers to hand out. It's a really cute little booklet with recycled products from lots of great artists.

Now I think about it, I actually had some magazine experience before I even opened my shop. Back in 2000 when my best friend Sillee and I met our favorite band, Hanson. We sent a picture of the event to 3 different magazines, and coincidently they all printed it!

Crafty Market in Amsterdam (Part 2: Lots of Pictures!)

As promised, more about the Crafty Market I sold at last Sunday!

This was my first market, and I was incredibly nervous. I spent all week before the big day preparing, testing out the setup for my booth, etc. On Saturday evening I was still busy with it! In the end, I got everything to look the way I wanted it to though, and I was ready for the market.

A few pictures of me setting up my booth. Setting up took foreverrrr. I expected it to be much faster!

The finished result! What do you think? Very pink, right?

Chatting with Maartje from Mamutopia who I shared a booth with. Our stuff looked so great together! It really is the same style but totally different items, which I think makes us perfect booth-sharers! Besides, we Maartjes gotta stick together.

Maartje and her cuteness! My mom kept calling her "other Maartje", teehee.

That's my mom in the orange top! My enthusiasm about the market made her decide to go with me, which was nice for various reasons: 1. She's nice company, 2. A shop assistant is always nice 3. We could go by car! It was car free sunday in various cities in the country, but that wouldn't start until 10 am, and we had to be there by then to start setting up anyway, so there was no problem at all.

And last but not least, my customers! They were all great! I got such great reactions, people kept ooohing and aaahing over how cute everything was, and how they couldn't choose. A nice ego booster!

The funniest reactions I got though were by kids:

A little girl, who can't have been more than 4 years old:

"Mom can I have these?"
"No honey, those are earrings, and you don't have pierced ears."
"Oh? *very cute sad face*

She seemed very dissapoined (and surprised!) to hear that here ears weren't pierced. So cute.

And another one, from a few girls who didn't have enough money at the moment to buy what they wanted:

"Will you be at this market again next year?"

Selling in person is so much more fun than selling online! Maybe I should bring back the dream of having my own B&M store some day?

Crafty Market in Amsterdam

Here's a quick picture that organizer Katinka took of me, my mom and my booth at the craft market in Amsterdam yesterday! I had a fantastic time, and it was a huge succes!

Crocs Biggest Fan Vote (For My Friend)

Crocs, you either hate them or love them. I am afraid I fall into the hate them category, but my friend Nathalie from Dina Fragola is a big fan of them. Such a big fan, in fact, that she participated in the Crocs Biggest Fan Photo Contest, with the picture above.

I think Nathalie really deserves to win, because despite my Crocs hate, I think she took an amazing picture. She is currently in the lead, but the number 2 is close behind, and the contest is ending on the 15th (tomorrow!).
