An EP of typical Jimmy the Fingers tunes with his take on romance, stalkers and life.
Born under a bad sign between a rock and a hard place, Jimmy soon hit the skids and took to loitering outside the local chip shop.

Darkhorse AKA Graham Shrimpton of Three Sixty Records heard the tape, found him covered in chips in a nearby dumpster, dusted him down, and discovered the kid actually had some talent. Taking him on and producing his debut album for release on Three Sixty Records. Graham co-produced the Grammy winning album Global Drum Project. The Bristol, San Francisco connection was made.

In his youth Jimmy busted out toons under the monikers Superdense Child and Zooface, and as a DJ has rubbed shoulders with the likes of Afrika Bambaata, Radio One’s Breezeblock show, Rahzel, Krafty Kuts, The Herbaliser, Fatboy Slim, Bonobo, and many more. He played keys in bands with Quantic, TM Juke, and Alice Russell from blossoming Brighton label Tru Thoughts. Then he found out he could sing, so he struck out on his own.
“Jimmy The Fingers writes about life as he sees it; a joyous and just plain silly occasion, marred only by the wonders of temptation and the melancholy. His musical stylings ever changing, he’s always one step ahead of the kids.” 360

Brombaer and Phole combine to create some lovely acoustic electronic music for their debut release on Three Sixty Records. They arrive with a popular following on soundcloud.

Phole
Is a producer and pianist from Groningen, in the North of the Netherlands.

At 18 he got his first piano lessons and a year later started to produce downtempo beats as “Phole”. Inspired by the piano lessons Phole became interested in jazz, which you can hear in his first trip-hop EP “Pleasing” (finished: march 2010′ and is still available at http://phole.bandcamp.com) At the moment Phole is inspired by more experimental music, and has created a great collaborations with “Brombaer” called Globo. Since spring 2011 he is working on a new album called “Philosphy of opposite land” wich will be finished around May 2012.

Brombaer
Since the beginning of 2011, Groningen, Netherlands.

Big love for Exploring the possibilities of creating music with all kinds of sounds: computer, keyboard, guitar, field recordings, percussion, and all kinds of other instruments and or household objects such as pots & pans. And a big love for Relaxing & Atmospheric sounds.

This is the first release on the new Dance division of Three Sixty Records, called Three Sixty Tunes.

Sr Mandril was born in 2000 when Germán González and Ramsés Ramírez decided to mix their musical ideas. The resulting sound has electronic undertones mixed with organic instruments creating a sonic image of colors, sounds and influences that go from acid jazz and ambient to latin.

Sr Mandril spend a lot of time on the road at various festivals and venues around South America, also performing at the Festival for International Jazz in Montreal, and the PI Jazz fest in Manila.
Latin house, and driving funk make up the main part of these remixes with the Darkhorse edit of Menu Funk and 80’s reworking. Flux’s Remix of Lover turns D&B , with massive bassline and pianos complementing the amazing vocals of Isabelle. Lastly is the epic remix of Lover by Darkhorse with rolling basslines and strings complementing Isabelle’s vocals, and the Jazz sonic production of 80’s remixed by TWisMbeats Rmx ft. Harry Greve.

ROLLING STONE LATIN AMERICA “With an excellent mix of lounge and acid jazz, Sr Mandril conquered the audience in both presentations at the 27th edition of the Montreal International Jazz Festival. Ramsés Ramírez and Germán González captivated the audience with their music…”

FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL DE JAZZ DE MONTREAL (THIS IS THE SOUND OF MEXICO RIGHT NOW) Sr. Mandril have a goal: merge electro elements with thoroughly live guitar, bass, keys and percussion. The payoff: a crossbreed of acid jazz, ambient, lounge, trip hop and house with latin rhythm and flair. This is the sound of Mexico right now.

It’s weird, but many services are making record labels obsolete. How? If you find an artist on a small label that you like, good chance they have other music releases that will fit your musical taste, as they tend to stick to a small defined form of music unlike Majors. but services like itunes, Amazon Rhapsody even Spotify do not let you look at music based on the label’s releases. So labels are getting lost in the new world of digital. Considering it’s just a live link to the catalog, I don’t understand why it wasn’t implemented in the first place. (add your conspiracy theories here)!

We are posting sites that sell our music, that support labels by allowing you to actually click on three sixty records and see our entire catalog that’s available. (seems only sites designed by DJ’s do this)

Jimmy The Fingers – I’m Only Breathing – One Sheet

Born under a bad sign between a rock and a hard place, Jimmy soon hit the skids and took to loitering outside the local chip shop in his cape, playing his demo on an old ghetto blaster whilst scrabbling around for tit-bits and narrowly avoiding kebab meat thrown at him for trying to drink peoples beer.

“Imagine a dark bar with Prince and Beck conversing over cider, as Frank Zappa and Jack Johnson are taking bets in the corner, dirty electro is playing on the jukebox in the background and you’ve got the Jimmy The Fingers sound.” 360

Nowadays he works live with Kaoss Pads, synths and a cape.

“Jimmy The Fingers writes about life as he sees it; a joyous and just plain silly occasion, marred only by the wonders of temptation and the melancholy. His musical stylings ever changing, he’s always one step ahead of the kids.” 360

We have finally released the first single from boyChild, it is spreading around the world. Also here is the video of Vika making her remix.

“A humble studio setup keeps things simple and allows ideas to form quickly and naturally. The technology comes second place to letting a story be told. Each musical project is based around a particular memory, often from childhood. ” BoyChild

boyChild…
by Matt Scantlin – ***** 5 stars
From tiny boyChilds’ massive phenomenas grow. ??This is the sound of one hand clapping. Pure joy inside a bubble of pain. There’s magic in the gaps between the spaces.??Transformative and ethereal, each sound painstakingly selected from life’s great palette.??This is what carved ice would sound like.??Do yourself a favour, and let boyChild hug your soul…
Loving it!

Top tune, love the remixes!

from bandcamp to iTunes.

by Bobby Muska – ***** 5 stars

ive been listening to boyChild since the summer when he released his first six songs which can be bought on his band camp account, and since then ive fallen in love with his gloomy, dark, ambient, and purely electronic sound. when you listen to boyChild’s music it almost like it belongs in a tim burton film, this EP as ill call it, is the same. Counting What If’s was one of the very first six songs he released, and to see it now on itunes it warms my heart because i know boyChild will be big and very well known soon. so buy this you like charismatic electronic tunes with a pinch of gloom, and i guarantee you’ll be happy your spent the 4 bucks. like him on facebook as well.

Artist Bio’s

boyChild was initially inspired to start creating music in the early 90’s when pirate radio was the main source of new and exciting music. Hours would be spent taping and cataloguing these shows on cassettes accompanied by constant aerial tweaking. A chance discovery of a copy of MED (a basic tracker music program) meant that this boy’s life would now follow a different path.

After many years locked away studying his craft, boyChild at last settled on his own sound. Described by others as beautiful and melancholic, it is electronic in its construction, but with an organic and human feel to it. With glitching electronic noises working alongside real piano, violin and cello part the result is a unique combination of cold and warm, sad and uplifting. The genre is hard to pin down, and this is deliberate.

Influences (but not necessarily sound-a-likes) include modern classical/soundtrack artists such as Craig Armstrong, Philip Glass, Hans Zimmer, to electronic artists like Venetian Snares, The Flashbulb and of course The Prodigy, who were a large influence in boyChild’s formative years.

A humble studio setup keeps things simple and allows ideas to form quickly and naturally. The technology comes second place to letting a story be told. Each musical project is based around a particular memory, often from childhood.

Our newest member to the Three Sixty fold. His first release will be the single “Counting What Ifs,” featuring Soundmouse.

Soundmouse
Soundmouse, so called because of her sweet and soft, almost delicate vocal sound, has always been musical, playing piano from a very young age. Initially attracted to the technology and production side of music, singing wasn’t part of her master plan at first. But a chance meeting with a Bristol dubstep producer called Phaeleh quickly whisked her from obscurity into an emerging scene, suddenly finding her vocals on a Ministry of Sound Compilation and as an NME download of the week, amongst other things.

Soundmouse’s intention with vocals is to convey emotion in the sound and tone, focusing on the delivery of words. The overall sound is soft with layers and harmonies to build intensity subtly, instead of the usual diva-like belters.

Vocal influences include the Icelandic Emilliana Torrini and Bjork. Her musical influences vary quite a bit, usually combining her passion for folk and acoustic music with glitchy electronica. These include Nosaj Thing, Mum, Bibio, The Tiny and Nick Drake.

As well as several collaborative projects as a singer, Soundmouse is also currently working on her debut E.P. encompassing elements of laptop folk and glitch, fused with delicate vocal melodies, and there is much more to come….

Vika

How did boyChild come to be? What is the significance of the boyChild character?

Well, for as long as I can remember my younger sister has called me boychild. I don’t know when it started, or why, but it seemed to stick and so it was the obvious choice for an alter ego. The idea of having this other character front my musical output appealed to me. I wanted something to hide behind ‘cos I’m shy. And when I stumbled across this designer who had these illustrations of the boy character it all just seemed to fit. I had been making music years ago, very different to what I make now, but then I stopped, for quite some time. Personal events led me to get inspired to do it again, and with a new and more focused direction. And this time I had a name and an identity.

Album Notes

This is our third compilation, which show-cases some of Three Sixty’s favorite new and old songs, with some old favs from our archives. Jonny Alford who was discovered playing music in a small train station waiting -room in Cookham, UK. Sr Mandril, Electro 7 and Space Funghi Project of Mexico City, and a couple of invited artists who we love, All India Radio and Man Or Mouse, this compilation shows the wide range of music at Three Sixty Records.

We have asked a couple of guest artists we love to join our usual suspects of this compilation.

ManorMouse
We are ManOrMouse? and together we are strong!.. .. Beck and Bowie busk on the Pavement outside La Roxy, while Benny Hill passes round the hat.

All India Radio
Conceived in 1999 as an experimental music outlet for Martin Kennedy, All India Radio has steadily evolved into a ‘chilltronica’ outfit easily combining genres such as ambient, lo-fi, world music, post-rock into deep lush and cinematic soundscapes. Their music has been used in CSI: Miami, One Tree Hill, Michael Moore’s hit film Sicko, Australia’s long running hit Bondi Rescue, Bondi Bali, Big Brother and many more.

The band has been nominated for an Australian music Industry ARIA Award, toured the USA and worked with Australian music legends The Church’s Steve Kilbey (who wrote the magical ‘Under The Milky way’ rediscovered by the world in the hit movie ‘Donnie Darko’) and Graham Lee (The Triffids, KLF).

“Since the turn of the 21st century, All India Radio has mashed the ambient-hop signatures of DJ Shadow, Tortoise and Thievery Corporation with the instantly recognizable guitar soundtracking of Ennio Morricone and Angelo Badalamenti. The resulting narcotic musical textures are capable of floating listeners to galaxies far, far away.” wired.com

We have now have a couple of Otari Reel to Reel magnetic tape machines we use them for mastering and will also be making some of our music available to buy on Open Reel Magnetic Tapes.

Here is something we mastered using the reel to reel.

The MX5050 BIII has long been the standard in 1/4″ two-track analog recorders. It features an optimized three-head design and transformerless balanced inputs and outputs to provide superior frequency response, low distortion and high signal-to-noise performance under the most demanding conditions.

We will be offering tapes recorded on new 1/4 inch, 2 track tapes on RMGI SM911 tape at either 7.5 or 15 ips with NAB playback curve.

More info to follow about pricing and shipping.

Please email us if you are interested or have questions.

History of Reel to Reel from Wikipedia

The reel-to-reel format was used in the very earliest tape recorders, including the pioneering German Magnetophon machines of the 1930s. Originally, this format had no name, since all forms of magnetic tape recorders used it. The name arose only with the need to distinguish it from the several kinds of tape cartridges or cassettes which were introduced in the early 1960s.
Reel-to-reel tape was also used in early tape drives for data storage on mainframe computers, video tape machines, and later for high quality analog audio recorders as early as the late 1940s, up until modern day studios where it is still in use. Studer, Stellavox, Nagra, Denon and Otari currently manufacture analog reel-to-reel recorders.
The earliest machines produced distortion during the recording process which German engineers significantly reduced during the Nazi era by applying a high-frequency bias current to the recording head along with the desired signal. American audio engineer Jack Mullin was a member of the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II. His unit was assigned to investigate German radio and electronics activities, and in the course of his duties, he acquired two Magnetophon recorders and 50 reels of I.G. Farben recording tape from a German radio station at Bad Nauheim (near Frankfurt). He had these shipped home. Over the next two years, he worked to develop the machines for commercial use, hoping to interest the Hollywood film studios in using magnetic tape for movie soundtrack recording.
Unitra ZK-147, a vintage Polish-made reel-to-reel tape recorder
Mullin gave a demonstration of his recorders at MGM Studios in Hollywood in 1947, which led to a meeting with Bing Crosby, who immediately saw the potential of Mullin’s recorders to pre-record his radio shows. Crosby invested $50,000 in a local electronics company, Ampex, to enable Mullin to develop a commercial production model of the tape recorder. Using Mullin’s tape recorders and with Mullin as his chief engineer, Crosby became the first American performer to master commercial recordings on tape and the first to regularly pre-record his radio programs on the medium. Ampex and Mullin subsequently developed commercial stereo and multitrack audio recorders, based on the system invented by Ross Snyder of Ampex Corp. Les Paul had been given one of the first Ampex Model 200 tape decks by Crosby in 1948 and went on to use Ampex eight track “Sel Sync” machines for multitracking. Ampex went on to develop the first practical videotape recorders in the early 1950s to pre-record Crosby’s TV shows.

Inexpensive reel-to-reel tape recorders were widely used for voice recording in the home and in schools before the Philips compact cassette, introduced in 1963, gradually took over. Cassettes eventually displaced reel-to-reel recorders for consumer use. However, the narrow tracks and slow recording speeds used in cassettes compromised fidelity. Following the example set by Bing Crosby, high-speed reel-to-reel tape recorders rapidly became the main recording format used by audiophiles and professional recording studios until the late 1980s when digital audio recording techniques began to allow the use of other types of media (such as Digital Audio Tape (DAT) cassettes and hard disks).

Even today, some artists of all genres prefer analog tape’s “musical”, “natural” and especially “warm” sound. Due to harmonic distortion, bass can thicken up, creating the illusion of a fuller-sounding mix. In addition, high end can be slightly compressed, which is more natural to the human ear. It is common for artists to record to digital and re-record the tracks to analog reels for this effect of “natural” sound. In addition to all of these attributes of tape, tape saturation is a unique form of distortion that many rock and blues artists find very pleasing.
Euphonic distortion and noise levels aside, high-quality analog tape currently outstrips the transparency of all but the best digital recording/playback systems: digital systems can suffer from (among other problems) clock jitter, inferior analog circuitry, inferior digital filter design, improper wordlength conversion, and/or lack of correct dithering. Dramatic improvements in the average quality of digital hardware design are narrowing the gap, though, and might soon eliminate the quality distinction altogether.

This Album is a catalog of the music of Khmer Life – birth, coming of age, religious ordination, marriage, illness and death. A tapestry of human experience told in music and song. Three Sixty Records is proud to release recordings from the Cambodian Living Arts project.

Three Sixty will be giving 100% of income from song sales back to CLA to help support the program.

Cambodian Living Arts (CLA) was founded eight years ago by Arn Chorn-Pond, a Cambodian-American refugee who was featured in the Emmy-nominated movie, The Flute Player. Originally called the Cambodian Masters Performing Project (CMPP), Arn founded this organization when he first returned to Cambodia in order to support the music teachers who helped him survive the horrors of the Khmer Rouge.

Approximately ninety percent of Cambodia?s performing artists died during the Khmer Rouge regime, a devastating blow to all of Cambodia?s oral traditions. After the fall of the Khmer Rouge, this cultural tragedy was compounded by two subsequent decades of economic hardship, when very few of the surviving master musicians could make a living performing or teaching.

Cambodian Living Arts, a project of World Education, works to support the revival of traditional Khmer performing arts and to inspire contemporary artistic expression. CLA supports arts education, mentorship, networking opportunities, education, career development, and income generating projects for master performing artists who survived the Khmer Rouge as well as the next generation of student artists. We work with the vision that by the year 2020, Cambodia will experience a cultural renaissance so dynamic that the arts will become the country?s international signature. In doing so, CLA empowers arts students and masters to develop the performance skills and social and professional networks that will help them to make a living through the arts. Since 2003, the number of performances by masters and students has increased by 400% due to CLA?s support; consequently, some performing groups earn from $200-$4,000+ more in income each year from performances alone. Through the performing program, Cambodian Living Arts supports the masters and students to take better advantage of the changing opportunities available to them.

CLA’s four core programs—teaching, performing, recording, and new commissions—support 16 master musicians and nearly 300 students and assistant teachers to develop skills and relationships that will enable them to generate income and develop as leaders, while also helping to preserve and celebrate their heritage. CLA works with the belief that supporting arts education is a way for people to grow and develop and heal from the traumas and hardships of both the past and the present, not only because knowing the traditional arts keeps younger generations connected to their heritage and the elders in their community, but because through the mentoring and guidance process, the students and masters build their confidence, are able to exercise leadership skills, and nurture hopes for the future.

Three Sixty Records is working with Cambodian Living Arts (A project of World Education) to release the music from this program globally with 100% of all proceeds going back to CLA.

“Space Funghi Project Sound like a night out listening to Red Holt, Miles Davis and Malo Playing together, with a long cocktail session in the Mos Eisley Bar.”

Album Notes

With an abstract flow, reminiscent of Miles Davis after a long night on cocktails, playing over Red Holt, in the Mos Eisley Bar. The unique programming and blending of the live instrumentation (drums, bass, guitar and sax.) mixes many different styles and moods together.

The result is a hybrid of electro/ lounge/ ambient/ drumn’bass/ fusion and jazz (now thats a lot of genres all in one).

Their music helps paint a picture of spectacular sunsets in the bands’ native sunny Mexico. In fact, the music is like a visual kaleidoscope that takes the audience through a fusion of sounds and sights(try it on good headphones!).

Space Funghi Project begins in 2001, when all the members were playing on a Mexican TV show as a sessions musicians , they would get together and jam a bit in between shows, these jams lead to Rodrigo booking a jam out session in PAC Audio Studios, where the band worked on playing live human played loops for hours and recorded with 2 ambiental microphones. There were a total of 20 recorded sessions, then Dr. Panic spent 1 year trying to fuse the electronic psychedelic sounds together with the human touch. The result is the sonic experience that is Elektrik Psilocybe Experience!

Artist Bio

Sr Mandril was born in 2000 when Germán González and Ramsés Ramírez decided to mix their musical ideas. The resulting sound has electronic undertones mixed with organic instruments creating a sonic image of colors, sounds and influences that go from acid jazz and ambient to latin. Sr Mandril spend a lot of time on the road at various festivals and venues around South America, also performing at the Festival for International Jazz in Montreal in 06, and 08.

After releasing their debut album to great reviews by the music media, Sr. Mandril follow up with their strong new release Terragroove. It was recorded and produced at Media Luna in Mexico by Ramsés Ramírez and mixed by Ramsés Ramírez and Gerry Rosado. This new album again is a fusion of genres covering acid jazz, funk, folk and rock with electronic and latin percussion.

“We could just say how great we feel this album is, but it’s better you hear for yourself, just how far this band has come since its debut album.” 360

FESTIVALS: “Festival de Jazz de Montreal 2008″ (Montreal 2008), “Festival de Jazz de Santa Lucía” (St. Lucia 2008), “Small World Music Festival” (Toronto 2007), “Festival Internacional de Jazz de Montreal 2006″ (Montreal 2006), “Festival Luminaria” (México 2006), “Festival Puerta de Las Américas” (México 2006), “Festival Sueño Verde” (San Luis Potosí 2005), “Festival CumbreTajín” (Veracruz 2004), “Festival Xcéntrico” (México 2004), “Festival del Despertar” (Morelos 2003)

ROLLING STONE LATIN AMERICA

“With an excellent mix of lounge and acid jazz, Sr Mandril conquered the audience in both presentations at the 27th edition of the Montreal International Jazz Festival. Ramsés Ramírez and Germán González captivated the audience with their music…”

FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL DE JAZZ DE MONTREAL

(THIS IS THE SOUND OF MEXICO RIGHT NOW) Sr. Mandril have a goal: merge electro elements with thoroughly live guitar, bass, keys and percussion. The payoff: a crossbreed of acid jazz, ambient, lounge, trip hop and house with latin rhythm and flair. This is the sound of Mexico right now.

Information

Three Sixty Records is proud to release recordings from the Cambodian Living Arts project. Three Sixty will be giving 100% of income from song sales back to CLA to help support the program.

Cambodian Living Arts just finished building a new studio in Phnom Pen, and these are the first recordings to emerge, produced by our good friend Peter Mayer, with help from Peter Gabriel, Dickie Chappel and the Real World Studios, with donations of equipment, help, support and advice.

Approximately ninety percent of Cambodia’s performing artists died during the Khmer Rouge regime, a devastating blow to all of Cambodia’s oral traditions.

We work with the vision that by the year 2020, Cambodia will experience a cultural renaissance so dynamic that the arts will become the country’s international signature.

In doing so, CLA empowers arts students and masters to develop the performance skills and social and professional networks that will help them to make a living through the arts. Since 2003, the number of performances by masters and students has increased by 400% due to CLA’s support; consequently, some performing groups earn from $200-$4,000+ more in income each year from performances alone. Through the performing program, Cambodian Living Arts supports the masters and students to take better advantage of the changing opportunities available to them.

Special Thanks- Brauner Microphones, Dickie Chappell, Dennis D’Amico,

DPA Microphones A/S, Digidesign, Patrick and Mary Fowles, Peter Gabriel, Solid State Logic & Graham Shrimpton “In Memory of Him Sarim”

Here is an interview with Sr Mandril for the new album Terragroove – Out Now on Three Sixty.

(REPRESENTING MEXICO IN MONTREAL) “ROLLING STONE” (August 2006) “With an excellent mix of lounge and acid jazz, Sr. Mandril conquered the audience in both presentations at the 27th edition of the Montreal International Jazz Festival 2006…Ramsés Ramírez and Germán González captivated the audience with their music…”

(THIS IS THE SOUND OF MEXICO RIGTH NOW) “FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL DE JAZZ DE MONTREAL” (july 2006) “Sr. Mandril have a goal: merge electro elements with thoroughly live guitar, bass, keys and percussion. The payoff: a crossbreed of acid jazz, ambient, lounge, trip hop and house with latin rythm and flair. This is the sound of Mexico right now”

THE 10 BEST LATIN CD’S OF 2005 “ROLLING STONE” (february 2006) Sr. Mandril..s debut album is considered one of the 10 best releases of 2005 by Rolling Stone latin america.

INTERNATIONAL OVERTUNES “LA TEMPESTAD” (june 2005) “… A happy incoherency between the wild name (Mr. Mandrill) and the ligth and clean sound of these duet. Without bigger instrumental postpodruction paraphernalia, this is a mexican chill out work with international overtunes”.

“DJ CONCEPT “(March 2005) “The debut album of Sr. Mandril shows talent not just on the interpretation and improvitation, but in the creative capacity and the perfect selection of instruments…they have an electronic world beat project worried to select efficiently their collaborators”

“ROLLING STONE” (february 2005) “The national Lounge and Acid jazz have never been better represented until now with the appearing of this “Sr. Mandril” with two heads. Ramsés Ramíres and Germán González are the genius behind every sound of these, their first album…”

The Debut single from Jimmy The Fingers is a positive message to all the girls out there, in a way only Jimmy The Fingers could do. The Single comes with remixes from The Melovskys of Mexico City and Darkhorse from San Francisco.

Look out for the increasingly popular video to the single shot by Steve Glashier at Nothing To See Here productions, with a little help from a lot of friends, and fast becoming a hit on youtube

Born under a bad sign between a rock and a hard place, Jimmy soon hit the skids and took to loitering outside the local chip shop in his cape, playing his demo on an old ghetto blaster whilst scrabbling around for titbits and narrowly avoiding kebab meat thrown at him. Darkhorse of Three Sixty Records heard the tape, found him covered in chips in a nearby ditch, dusted him down, and discovered the kid actually had some talent, taking him on and producing him for release on Three Sixty.

Imagine Prince and Beck fighting over cider, Frank Zappa and Jack Johnson taking bets in the corner, dirty electro’s playing in the background and you’ve got the Jimmy The Fingers sound.

In his youth Jimmy busted out toons with his equally greasy mates under the monikers Superdense Child and Zooface, and as a DJ has rubbed shoulders with the likes of Afrika Bambaata, Radio One’s Breezeblock show, Rahzel, Krafty Kuts, The Herbaliser, Fatboy Slim, Bonobo, and many more. He played keys in bands with Quantic, TM Juke, and Alice Russell from blossoming Brighton label Tru Thoughts. Then he found out he could sing, giving two fingers to the lot of em. Nowadays he works live with Kaoss Pads, synths and a cape. Jimmy The Fingers writes about life as he sees it: a joyous and just plain silly occasion, marred only by the wonders of temptation and melancholy. His musical stylings ever changing, he’s always one step ahead of the kids.

Jimmy The Fingers – Grace – Video by Steve Glashier

Jimmy’s good friend Steve Glashier at Nothing To See Here Productions has created a great video for the track Grace. On a cold saturday in Brighton a bunch of friends got together and shot this vid for Jimmy. Enjoy and please embed in your web page and send a link to your friends.

To see more of Steve’s work click here

Jimmy The Fingers is new to the Three Sixty Stable. He is a bit of an enigma, but we love his music. We found him outside a Fish and Chip shop, beer in hand, his demo music playing out of a ghetto blaster, as he mimed to the words.

His first release on Three Sixty will be the single Grace out March 10th 09.

Grateful Dead percussionist Mickey Hart’s innovative Planet Drum CD convened some of the world’s finest drum talent for a collaboration that won the very first GRAMMY for world music—bringing together Nigerian drum legend Babatunde Olatunji, Indian tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain, Nigerian talking drum ace Sikiru Adepoju, and Puerto Rico’s master conguero Giovanni Hidalgo, among others. The 1991 album spent an unprecedented 26 weeks at #1 on the Billboard world music chart, and continues to sell as a perennial favorite.

Fifteen years later, the musical partnership of Hart and Hussain—which began with their groundbreaking 1970s world fusion experiment Diga Rhythm Band—resumes, with a fresh collaboration of tranced-out grooves, elegant electronic programming and hypnotic tuned percussion and again enlists the great partnership of Adepoju and Hidalgo. This time they are joined by Taufiq Qureshi on percussion & vocals, Niladari Kumar on sitar, Dilshad Khan on sarangi, and the late, great Olatunji in sampled vocals from the original sessions. Elements from Hart’s various world music recordings, including the Kaluli tribespeople of Papua New Guinea’s rainforest, are woven with the live performances into a danceable, multi-textured celebration of rhythm.

A Mexican, Cuban and Italian combine to create the sounds of Cuba merged with Electronica, Reggae, Hip Hop and Drum & Bass and then twisted into pop music! “The idea behind the band is to create soulful, contemporary Cuban music while experimenting with electronic sounds.”

Electro 7 have been around a few years, but it wasn’t until band leader Dr Panic hooked up with long time friend and traditional Cuban musician, Raul Oviedo, that their sound started to take shape. They then bought in pop producer Paolo Marcellini and the band was complete.

All three have been very busy recording and touring musicians, that had other band projects taking up their time. But in the last year the focus has been on this exciting new band and they are quickly picking up a fan base in Mexico and around the world.

The sound is still very authentic and at times is pure Cuban, and really hits the spot. A mix of exotic Latin rhythms and vocals from sun bleached, rum soaked Havana back streets with cool, contemporary, electronic, urban sounds from Mexico City’s burgeoning dance music culture.

Armed with an acoustic guitar, a mandolin and a pot of gravy granules for percussion, Jonny Alford has produced an album of timeless uplifting songwriting. With tinges of folk and country but without the indulges of either, Jonny’s songs have a simplistic beauty which speaks for themselves. His music is the perfect soundtrack to this summer with its sun soaked harmonies and lifting melodies. Jonny’s music has already been used on tv by the BBC/PBS series Monarchy: The Royal Family at work. Which is in the top 10 DVD sales in the UK at the moment, in the documentary Freedom Fuels by Mofilms and by Apple for its Telluride Film festival podcast about the film festival.

A message from Jonny
“I started recording early. There’s a tape of me playing ‘Peggy Sue’ aged 3 years old. I studied composition at Coventry and then at Birmingham. Coventry being the inspiration for the song ‘Wainbody Ave’ – it was the road that led to the college and it had the freakiest trees all the way up it. The ones that have had the branches cut thick and straight so they look awkward and stunted yet strangely imposing. The ones I’ve drawn are a bit friendlier looking than the real ones. At Birmingham I played a lot of Gamelan music, which is good for the soul and gentle on a hangover. For most of my time as a student I kind of forgot about writing songs and mainly wrote contemporary classical music, finished my degree then immediatley returned to writing simple guitar music, oh well…Somewhere along the line I also played with the Birmingham band Delta for about a year. I appear briefly on the album ‘Hard Light’. Since then I’ve been doing a few gigs around London, Reading and Bucks, often with Chris, Dave and Steve(the band) backing me. ENJOY.”

Founders German González and Ramsés Ramirez marshal percussion, guitar and sunny vocals that pull every posterior out of its seat and propel it to the dance-floor. Rolling Stone raved about their 2006 Festival show, so they were asked back. They return with more irresistible rhythms and a new album perfectly titled Terragroove.

Sr.Mandril´s first album was released on 2005 when Germán González and Ramsés Ramírez mixed their ideas on the creation of this project. This way the electronic elements are combined with acoustic and electrical instruments, creating a construction of colours, sounds and influences that go from acid jazz and ambient to latin, and from lounge to funk with a slice of house.

After releasing a debut homonym album, which “Rolling Stone” considered one of the 10 best latin albums of the year , Sr. Mandril released it´s second production in 2008, “Terragroove”, which was considered by “Indie Rocks Mag” one of the 100 best albums of the decade with an exquisit blend of funk, acid jazz, and rock with electronic and latin elements.

Look out for the increasingly popular video to the single shot by Steve Glashier at Nothing To See Here productions, with a little help from a lot of friends, and fast becoming a hit on youtube

“Imagine Prince and Beck fighting over cider, Frank Zappa and Jack Johnson taking bets in the corner, dirty electro is playing in the background on the jukebox and you’ve got the Jimmy The Fingers sound.” 360

Three Sixty Records has signed a deal to release recordings from the Cambodian Living Arts project. Three Sixty will be giving 100% of income from the song sales back to CLA to help support the program.

We work with the vision that by the year 2020, Cambodia will experience a cultural renaissance so dynamic that the arts will become the country’s international signature.

CLA promotes an appreciation of the Khmer performing arts by sponsoring and supporting concerts, recitals, performances, and demonstrations to a wide range of audiences. Some of the CLA-sponsored classes practice art forms now that are quite rare, and CLA’s support helps to make these traditional art forms more accessible to local Khmer, both rural and urban, as well as to travelers and students from around the world.

The place of traditional performing arts is also changing; where once many shows were sponsored through local wats, the royal family, or private families for private celebrations or rituals, now traditional performances may also be incorporated into hotel or restaurant receptions, staged touring productions, educational initiatives, school partnerships, artisanal stores, television shows, and more. Through the performing program, Cambodian Living Arts supports the masters and students to take better advantage of the changing opportunities available to them.

Artist Bio

ENJOY.”

Artist Bio

Electro 7 are an interesting mixed bag.

“With an abstract flow, reminiscent of Miles Davis after a long night on cocktails, playing over Red Holt, in the Mos Eisley Bar. “

The unique programming and production of their music, along with the blending of live instrumentation (drums, bass, guitar and sax), mixing many different styles and moods together, creates the resulting hybrid of electro/ lounge/ ambient/ drumn’bass/ and jazz(now thats a lot of genres all in one), but you have to hear it to, for yourself. Their music helps paint a picture of the spectacular sunsets in the bands’ native sunny Mexico. All trained musicians (and you can here that down to the drums), these guys met while working on a TV show in Mexico. During the break when they jammed they had an idea that now is The Space Funghi Project.

Space Funghi Project create a unique sound, with great production, that lays somewhere in-between Amon Tobin and Underworld.

Album Notes

Electro 7 are an interesting mixed bag.
