Here’s another version of that drawing of Tim, this time posted only here and not on Deviantart. I’m trying to develop a sort of storybook style for a project I’m thinking about. I don’t exactly have a story for it yet, but I have an idea what the drawings ought to look like. This seems to work really well with the sort of pencil work I do, and didn’t need very much tweaking in Photoshop to make it look something like what I had in mind. I don’t think Tim himself will end up in it, but other little winged fuzzies certainly might.

This was all brought on by the new comfy mechanical pencil I bought with birthday money my Mum sent, cuz you have to draw when you have a new pencil. Thanks so much Mom! ^_^

Here’s a little extra for those paying attention. I was thinking I’d like to test including an audio file in a post, so here’s a little electronica thingie I made several years ago out of a loop created by a friend of mine (who unfortunately doesn’t have a site I can link to) and some dialogue clips from Space Balls.  It’s meant to be silly, and I was just messing around with an Adobe Audition demo at the time so it’s definitely rough and pans back and forth a bit too much I’d never done much sound editing etc.

I still want to come up with some sort of “cool thing” for folks who stayed subscribed while the site was all dormant, and it’ll probably be a download/stream of something so I’ll probably be testing some plugins. Let me know if you have any trouble getting something to work. Toodles!

I know it’s technically not much, but something about the way it came out looked rather cool to me so I posted it. Cuz that’s what I do.

In other news, it’s been busy and a bit muddled here at Ché Wee. I’m working with a friend on something I’m really excited about, and of course as soon as I began to work on that we came down with a vicious head cold (we meaning my hunny and I, not the person I’m working with). I would not be exaggerating if I were to say it felt like having Mono and Tonsilitis at the same time, probably the worst sinus pain I’ve ever experienced.

But! I think that the resultant infection from the virus sorta hooked up with the always present low level infection that tends to live in my nose all the time and my body managed to expel the lot together once I was over the worst of it. I feel healthier than I did right before I caught it even. Helluva thing.

This new found not feeling like crap deal has helped me to feel a little bit less of a perfectionist about a few things, so I’ve relaxed all the little conditions I required myself to meet before I could start really posting again. There are just too many options and life is too short, so I’m just going to relax about it and just do what feels simplest. I am going to try to restrict posting topics juuuust enough that I may not post silly youtube videos as much (I have things like tumblr and twitter for that these days) but I won’t fuss about it. I will certainly try to keep the postings somehow related to art and making stuff though, because making stuff is pretty much all I do. Compulsively even.

Thanks so much for sticking around. I haven’t forgotten about the child themes I promised to finish, nor the “something neat” I wanna do for you nice folks who’ve stayed subscribed. I appreciate every one of you.

Now I’m off to delete most of those “oh I’m still doing blah blah blah with the site” posts, because they’re dull and always make me cringe when I go through the archives and see how many there are.

Things I know for sure:

• I want to segment everything out a bit. Blogging, art, stuff to sell, tutorials (perhaps with community features) etc each in their own “box” somehow.
• I’d like to set up some sort of proper portfolio that I can update occasionally with the very best of my work rather than trying to aggregate/display every single thing I make on the main site using built-in WordPress features or plugins or photohosting sites (and a combination thereof). The way I’ve been doing it so far is a bit awkward especially as I have more and more work to post.
• I have two domains not currently being used that could be nicely attached to some of this stuff.

It’s a bit of a challenge, since I’m learning as I go as I’ve always done, and the process can get slow. I think I have the portfolio bit worked out, or at least narrowed down to two options, one of which I haven’t tested yet. I really think I should use one of the domains I have on hold (because I can totally think of a good use for it) but it probably can’t be first priority just yet. I just want anybody still reading to know that I AM still working on just getting the basics up and going again, and I really appreciate you following in your rss readers. I’ll be sure to come up with some good treats for ya.

Before I end this post I also want to mention that I’ve gotten a couple requests for my old Options mod, and I’m definitely planning on making it available in some form. I need to make some changes to remove my personal branding and stuff and there are some issues with the theme it’s based on itself as it’s no longer in development. I’m working on making a version that works with Justin’s newer framework Hybrid, but I’ve got a lot of other things I need to get through first so that may be a ways off. It definitely IS going to happen in one form or another though, possibly in a couple of alternate colour schemes.

Once the heavy lifting is done I’m going to reorganize the posts quite a bit, so some links may break. I might be deleting some content, since there’s a lot that’s either really out of date or just not all that useful or interesting. I might move silly stuff either to a sub-domain or a separate category. It’ll depend on what’s easiest probabbly.

I don’t want this notice to be too long so that’s it for now. Here’s hoping I’m finished by the end of the weekend!

What I am going to do is a bit of a redesign. I think info and content on the site could be organized better so I’m just going to give the whole shebang a face lift. Posting will be a bit sporadic while I work on this, so please bear with me. Ironically right after I finished my mockups somebody released a theme that’s quite close to what I was hoping to build on something else, (and with nice typography too) so that’ll cut down on the amount of code I’ll have to tweak a bit. I still can’t actually make themes from scratch but I am getting around child themes a bit better these days. I’m so glad that option is now available to us.

I may make my current child theme available in a non-branded form when I’m ready to use the new one, depending on interest.

P.S. I’m thinking about bringing the forum back. We could talk art and nerdy stuff. Would that be interesting to anybody?
