When Running Out of Topic Part 2

On part 1, we had dealt with how to come up with a good topic. And I really hope that you had found it somewhat helpful.

At times we love to write, we give our best. Why is that so? Basically it’s just because we aren’t just thinking about what we would be earning from what we write, but rather it is because we want to come up with something wonderful and useful to the community. This may not apply to everyone, but I can assure you that you will never regret it if you believe in this.

Well, there are times that you really cannot think of anything you could manage to talk about. It’s normal, and don’t worry about that. I had made a list in here for you to look at if you ever don’t really know what else to talk.

Now, these aren’t ready made topics for you. But rather, these are tips on how you would be able to come up of something. Probably a word or a thought would come up if you try these things. These are basic things and you might even find these things to be just from a man’s common sense.

1. Read.

Yes, reading greatly help. Because when you read, especially when you love what you read, you can really come-up with a thought about it. Perhaps you can write a review or you can even write your personal reactions about it. It may even suggest you to write something related to it.

2. Ask questions.

Ask questions about anything you could find reasonably questionable. You can ask your self and even ask somebody else. When you ask yourself, try writing down what you think about your question. Work things out with your questions. When asking others choose the sensible questions. You can work that out and manage to ask follow-up questions. And then from that manage to go over the conversation you just had. Think about it and see if you can work it out into an essay or so.

3. Scan for Pictures.

You may have been taking for granted the pictures you have. But actually, you can use those pictures in generating a topic. Yes, because as I had said on my post about image hosting websites,

“As what they say, photographs aren’t just still images of memories and the world. It is far more than that. If you take a good look at every picture there is you’ll see that they aren’t just memories of events, places and people. It talks to the soul. Yes, if you’ll look at it more closely, you’ll certainly feel different emotions it employs. It is more than just an art. It is more than just a piece of paper. It is more than just a mere photograph of something.”

So reminisce with your old pictures even the new ones. You might find what you want to talk about in them.

4. Observe.

There are a lot to see around you. Don’t waste that. God had given you not just mere surroundings but rather a beauty in its own ways. Yes, just look around and you will see the beauty of the world. It will surely be able to suggest you something great.

There are a lot of topics to talk about. So don’t just stop on a dead end. You can always have a u-turn and then manage your way out of that road. You might even be surprised to see a lot of roads still waiting to be crossed.

Our Website’s Recent Ranking

Google™ Page Rank had just officially updated their rankings. The news was all over the web. It’s the latest topic on forums.

According to Search Engine Journal,

In case you haven’t noticed, there is a fairly significant update happening at Google right now. As with all other major updates, Brett Tabke from WebmasterWorld has given it a name, Jagger.

Jagger is keeping true to previous Google updates and is wreaking havoc on the nerves of many webmasters, SEOs and small businesses who’s placements seem to have vanished overnight. Starting sometime over the weekend, Google started showing results that looked somewhat different from the results shown earlier.

The changes actually started with a string of back-link updates that began in early September and continued into the first week of October. Two weeks later, the information Google has in regards to links directed towards a specific website is likely different than the information it had two months ago. That is likely the cause of immediate changes to the SERPS.

The most important advice in dealing with any type of Jagger is simple; don’t panic.

Fortunately, Theweblogzone.com had maintained its rank at PR 4. This one is good anyhow although we aim to raise our ranking. With this news we promise you that we will do our best to be able to maintain our high ranking and even do better to get a much higher PR.

Sometimes, some sites experience a site ranking downturn. Though a site ranking’s downturn is bad, you should not loose hope of not being able to get it back. Sometimes we really come across this situation. Why is that so? I had come up with two possible reasons which might cause a downturn in your site’s rankings.

1. Less Update, Less Reader Connection

Yes, when you blog, updating makes a great deal of effect on your rankings. I believe that somehow this is one cause why we haven’t been able to increase our ranking. Recently, we had not updated frequently because of some conflicts of schedules from some personal agendas, and from work. We are currently making a move on it now to settle these things out and be able to update more often. Why does updating less has a great effect on our ranking? Basically, that is because our readers would be loosing track from us since there is nothing new on our site. When we update our site, we are having an interaction with our readers. That way, we are telling them to always keep in touch for new updates in hand. And, if we won’t update, they won’t bother to check our site thus a possibility of loosing avid readers. Updating helps us develop trust and reliability. So, manage your time wisely. Always find time to be able to manage and update regularly. This don’t just go for you but for me as well.

2. Less Promotion, Less Link Building

Because of the conflict of schedule I haven’t have gotten the time to promote my recent posts. Promoting your posts helps you in building more links to your site thus helping you improve your site’s rankings. Even though you had updated your site regularly, poor promotion can still drag your site rankings down. As for our site’s case, we are currently finding ways and means to be able to manage the promotion of the site so as to ensure future readers and and be able build more links. But then, just a little warning, excessive link building is UnSEO. So beware.

We should be able to balance things up. Don’t just focus on promotion nor updating alone. It won’t do good if you chose one over the other. Don’t let your site ranking to be at risk. I’ve already learned this lesson and I hope to be able to keep this up not just for myself nor the site but for the readers as well.

A blogger sometimes come across a time when he doesn’t know what to write. Yes, it is never that easy being a writer. And I am of no exception to that. I sometimes ran out of something to write especially when there is nothing new to talk about. We all know that it isn’t just about forming sentences and then manage to stitch them up together form a paragraph or two to be able to write a good article. First, you have to be certain of what topic to write. And then, from that, you carry out to brainstorm about ideas pertaining to that topic. You might as well even research on that topic in mind so you will be able to write reliably and not just mumbo jumbos.

GETTING A TOPIC

Olive Harvey College gave the guides below on how to be able to get a possible topic to write. These guides may have not been given to bloggers specifically but I think they will quite give you a long mile to go if you try these guides.

1. What is a good topic?

Well, if you really want to have a good topic which would certainly be creating a good impact on your readers, then narrow down your topic. A good topic is narrowly and carefully focused. Instead of taking a broad topic and do an article on it just within its surface, why not go over a very specific topic and have a profound article of it. That way you just aren’t getting your readers hooked on your article, and at the same time you are doing a favor for your self. With choosing a narrowed down topic you are certain that you would not be running out of a thing to talk about.

Brainstorming is the easiest way to get a topic. While brainstorming might give you wild ideas and even the broadest topic in hand, do not be bothered. Just continue your brainstorming and if you think that you had already listed up enough number of possible topics, try to scan trough them and try to get the one which had gotten the biggest deal of interest in you. Then, do a narrowing of that article.

2. How do I get to focus my topic?

Now that you had your topic picked up, do a narrowing on that one. You can do that by brainstorming again on that certain topic you had chosen or you can do a little researching and scanning on it. Then try looking again on your list and see if there is something which had captured your attention the most. Do those steps over and over again until you come up with a topic you think would be wonderful and striking one and would be covered fully in one essay.

Having a focused topic would greatly help you not just in preserving more topic for future articles but also for saving time by better directing your research into one specific argument. A focused topic leads to a focused article. You should always remember that what makes an article great is not the topic but it is what you make of what you’ve got in hand. So if you think of dropping that article out because of a probability that your readers won’t bother about it, then don’t. All you have to do is extend an extra time researching and understanding the topic in hand. Then manipulate what you’ve got into something you think might enhance the quality of your article.

Also, you should always bear in mind that if you are passionate in doing your work, your readers will certainly be passionate enough in reading it. Why? Because we write our best at times we love to write.

There are a number of them on the web. Don’t be fooled by these people. They might have lured a number of bloggers who are so eager to earn high rankings. If you are already paying one of them, then you are just wasting your money on these jinx. Maybe they will. But apparently, they won’t do you any good. Their Alexa rank will serve as a proof for you.

3. Pinging.

This can’t even be counted as a good tip. This is a crime. Imagine using a phone you don’t own without asking a permission from the real owner. It isn’t good right? It is bad actually. Or let’s say, you’ll live in a land owned by someone and you haven’t asked that someone that you will be living in his land. Wouldn’t you be called a squatter? That is absolutely a crime. And that is just the same as crawling into other sites you don’t own. You are a squatter of that site. Why use it when you don’t have the rights? So if you are already doing that, might as well just cut that act out. It isn’t right, and you are doing a crime.

These are just a few. And just a little warning to those newbies out there. Be cautious about your acts and the tips you would be following. Weigh things out. Know if they are right or wrong. Don’t easily be enchanted by their get-this-and-that-quick schemes.

Well, Alexa Blog had long given this tip, and what did it says? Simple. Get more traffic for your blog. That would be the easiest and the truest tip you would ever find on any blog tips available on the net.

This is a sequel on our previous post “How is Your Site Ranked?“. WE hoped that our previous post had somewhat been useful.
