The next time you are traveling through the English countryside, why not visit one of the local country pubs to the area?

Mostly independently owned, country pubs are warm and friendly places to visit.

Country pubs have a fantastic atmosphere and are usually themed with history from the area, which only adds to the ambience. The typical country pub will have a good selection of popular beers and wines, and will usually stock some great ales from local brewers. In Suffolk, Adnams and Woodfordes are very popular.

It’s always worthwhile chatting with the landlord and locals as they often have some good fables to tell and can also suggest several interesting places to visit. A good reason for a return visit.

A good selection of country pubs have restaurants and serve lunchtime and evening meals. You know you are onto a gem if the food is locally sourced.

The Shadingfield Fox in Beccles is a traditional English country pub and serves both lunchtime and evening meals. Recently restored, the 17th century inn is a beautiful place to visit for a drink, or to dine.
