I haven’t posted anything in a long time on the blog here as I have been working on some of my new projects, which has really eaten away at my free time here. However, today I cam up with something pretty cool that I wanted to share with you all.

What we just put together was a very cool little tool that allows you to ping any page you are on straight to Ping-O-Matic without having to actually go to that site and enter any of the details, all you do is press a button on your browser and BOOM … it’s pinged.

For many marketers I am sure your eyeballs are popping out of your skulls thinking “Wow, that would be so useful” and there may be others going “Huh? What does that do for me”. Well for the latter crowd let me explain why this is so powerful.When you are link building for your website or you have just created a new page and you want to get it indexed almost instantly by Google, MSN and Yahoo then pinging your page to the blog search engines is one of the fastest ways to get the job done. Ping-o-matic is one of the online services that can literally blast the page you want pinged out to many services almost instantly.

The problem was that before, you had to go to their website, fill in the title of the page and the url and press the submit button. While that is not a big deal, when you are dealing with dozens of pages or links, it can quickly become a pain in the backside!

So what we did is come up with a quick bookmarklet that you can add to your browser and just press “PING IT” to automatically ping the current page you are on without doing any data entry at all.

I will show you how to add it to your browser shortly, but here is the code for those who want to “Geek Out” over it:

As you can see the title and url are automatically detected from the current page so you don’t have to enter anything as it’s all done for you.

Now to simplify adding this to your browser all you have to do is right click this PING IT link and bookmark it to your bookmark toolbar or just drag it to your bookmark toolbar in your browser. You end up with a little link on your browser just like this:

One you have that, just go to any page toy want to ping (for example any page on this site) and press that button! You will see how powerful this will be for you and how quickly you can get your pages indexed.

Well it’s has been an incredible few week’s and I have been slacking off from posting on the blog. We have been working on a brand-new product launch with some of the top names in Internet marketing industry.

Suffice to say, we are all very excited here and have been running around like crazy trying to get all of our ducks in a row and get everything ready for launch day.

As we work through our launch cycle and getting everything ready it reminded me of a small story from many years ago I wanted to share with you.

I started off as an entrepreneur at the age of 10. Yes, I know that’s young but we all have to start somewhere. I actually started my first business when I was in school and basically all I did was clean cars, pick weeds, and cut grass.

Not much of a business you might say, but I was making a good income from that especially for a 10 year old! Now here’s where it got interesting, a lot of my class mates caught on to the fact that I was making good money and want to slice of the action.

So what did I do? I hired them and covered a lot more ground. Instead of just working in my small area I ended up covering most of the village where I lived back in England. I ended up with 10 kid employee’s all cleaning cars, weeding and cutting grass. I kept 50% of their earnings they kept the other 50% and I ended up making a lot more money than I would have alone.

As soon as my little business grew I really didn’t have time to do the work myself, and the management side of this little business was a little overwhelming for a 10 year old. However, it taught me a some valuable life lessons.

1. If you try and do everything yourself he won’t make as much money.
2. Treat your employees well and they are more productive
3. Always have a backup plan and never stretch yourself too thin
4. People will let you down eventually, don’t take it personally
5. Keep your eyes on the prize and go for it no matter what

Now thinking about it, this was very much in affiliate marketing model or franchise, model, not what I wanted to be McDonald’s at the age of 10. All of my employees were freelancers (with their parents permissions) and using my name and reputation to get work and they paid kickbacks to me for the privilege. Also, because I was the one who got the jobs and contacts from the flyers I would spread around the village.

Looking back I still smile and realize that even at that age, the fundamentals of success were learned very early on in my life even if I did not realize it. Now, I look at kids today and wonder which ones could turn into tomorrow’s entrepreneurs and what we can do to encourage innovation and drive.
Luckily both my boys have an interest in business. My oldest son (19) is currently trying to set up his own business before he goes to college designing 3-D models and selling them.

My other son (12) is starting to let about affiliate marketing with Squidoo lenses with a lot of encouragement from me obviously. He has already made a few dollars here and there. He is also learning about video marketing as he is obsessed with YouTube and has made a few hundred bucks there as well.

In today’s economy I really do feel that we need to enable our kids to create their own jobs and their own incomes and marketing online, creating their own businesses can help them either supplement an existing income or create an independent source of income.

It is a very powerful skill to not rely on any economy or job openings being available. In the US alone we have just seen it almost 10% unemployment and when I see students coming out of college off to four years with no hope of work, it saddens me.

I was very lucky in the fact that my father encouraged me to get off my butt and start a little business as well as give me the little bits of advice I needed to expand and turn it into a thriving enterprise. These simple life experiences from over 25 years ago laid the foundation for my success today.

Now the aim of this blog post was not to give you a life story and I may have rambled on a bit, but I think it’s an insight into our children’s futures that we need to think about to help them succeed in life.

Viral email marketing is one of the most profitable and underused forms of promoting your products and services. You can easily contact several thousands or even millions of new potential customers at one time and have them spread your e-mail message, promoting your business and generating income for you without even realizing they are doing so.

Understanding the dynamics of making such a viral email is crucial to success and there are a few things you’ve got to consider when creating an e-mail that may spread like wildfire.

The methodologies you use in your viral email marketing campaign depend largely on your business aims. With proper use of helpful or comical content, you will most likely force folks in your mailing list to read your emails and forward them to folks who might benefit from it.

Before doing this though, you need to make sure you have a “Seed” list that you can send your potential viral emails to. The techniques you use must also be focused, so that the people in your mailing list are most likely to respond to your viral email marketing campaign.

The Importance Of A Solid Subject Line of a Viral Email

Before you create a viral email you have to have a devastatingly eye-ball grabbing title. The title  line is the first thing that a person sees whenever they open their mail box. There are only 2 options for them, either click the email to open it or delete it. Therefore, it’s vital that you convince them to do the former. One technique is to keep your subject line interesting or incite curiosity or what we call in copywriting “The Reason Why”

Using the old ‘Open Me’ or ‘Read Me’ approach is quickly turning into ineffective. This is very lazy and it is one of the fastest ways to get your email deleted.

Try and keep your subject line short but snappy and relevant to your customers needs. If you have a list filled with entrepreneurs you likely would not be mailing them about “Weight Loss” or “Mustang Parts and Accessories”

Content of a Viral Email

To create viral content you need to hit the emotional triggers of your target market. Remember, people have a short attention span and you want to feed them the data they need within the shortest time possible.

If you find the message is way too long but all parts are too important to omit, consider sending them in parts. This is also an effective way to maintain the reader’s interest.

The aim here is to get your readers to be engaged with the content and then take action by clicking the links contained in the emails. So make sure that your weave your content that leads them down the email to take action.

Pre-sell them with value, entertain them with humor or a compelling reason and then actually encourage them to tell their friends.

Another powerful way to make your readers respond is to reward them for telling their friends by offering them a bonus for doing so.

Timing or Frequency in Sending Out Viral Emails

Here is another important component for a good viral email marketing campaign. If you have set the schedule for the broadcast of your viral email messages using an autoresponder, make sure to limit the quantity of emails you send the people in your mailing list.

Ideally you should not send out emails more than 3 times a week. Any more than that and you risk overloading your prospects and you will probably loose subscribers hand over fist.

So next time you send out an email, make sure that you inject extra value and a reason why your reader should send the email to other contacts that would benefit from your promotion.
