this is to say the least, INCREDIBLE. i literally sat there with my mouth open, in amazement in the leaps that adobe has taken to make this kind of technology possible.

on one hand, it's amazing that something that is now so time consuming can be automated to a couple of mouse clicks and a 10 second wait, but on the other, I almost feel like it's taking any talent and skill out of photo editing and manipulation. over the past couple of years, we've seen a similar kind of effect with picnik, in that a large number of people who can point and click and type in an artistic font think that they're now graphic designers. i mean it definitely is the next step forward in adobe's technology, but is it one that will end up hurting the industry in the end? what do you guys think?

just had a little brain explosion, and i needed to get this down somewhere...

quantum mechanics says that one cannot say for sure both the location and velocity of a given sub-atomic particle. the only reason we can do such on macro-matter is because we can identify the forces acting upon matter (gravity and the electromagnetic force). therefore, there are other forces other than or including the strong force and the weak force that act upon sub-atomic particles that can be identified and quantified (pardon the pun) that can provide accurate predictions as to the location and velocity of such sub-atomic particles.

This is more of a site suggestion than a feature suggestion. Although, knowing you guys, you could market it as a new top-of-the-line web feature. Also, to prevent confusion, the word "you" will mean facebook, the employees of facebook, and the company.
YOU NEED TO STOP CHANGING.
Facebook worked damn well until you decided that you needed to change every damn thing every day. I really do not understand this constant need to be changing. I mean I guess you need to give your employees SOMETHING to do, but Christ, they're breaking everything. Things have been broken for weeks, and it's beginning to get really aggravating. I can understand rolling out a new feature or two every couple months, but this is out of control. You are met with a disgusting amount of protest every time you decide to redesign, and although I do not have any official numbers, I'll bet that you've done it about 4 times in the past year. It would be bearable and even OK if it didn't break EVERYTHING about facebook for weeks at a time. But it's just old and annoying by this point. Let me provide you with some examples of the consistent issues I've experienced consistently over the past 3-ish weeks:
Chat: Doesn't allow me to log in about 80% of the time. About 95% of the time that I CAN login, you tell me that I "don't have permission to chat with" those people. all my friends. every single one of them.
Profile/Home: simply isn't there. My profile for about 3 hours a day (probably more, thats just from 2 o clock when I get home every day), I apparently have no content on my wall. Also apparently, during about the same amount of time, I have no people friends. Just pages, including bands and ice cream restaurants based out of Vermont. While I do enjoy the occasional Cherry Garcia, when I log on to facebook, I'd much rather talk to my friends.
Notifications: they're not there. ever. every once in a while, I'll get a little flash of red and a little 15 down there letting me know how many i've missed while you've been off fucking some other users, and not telling me about my notifications. Thanks, bud. Inbox: hahaha. this doesn't even load. when it does, the messages don't load. after clicking the message, and going back and clicking the message again, and going back, and clicking the message, and going back, and repeating 30 times, the message MIGHT just load, if i'm lucky. when it does, god help me if I want to send a reply.
Requests: Much to my surprise, your genius decided that the reqs.php page will now redirect to my Home. All the time. Of course, you know what I want much more than I do, so go for it. I don't want to know about that party anyway.
In summation, fix what's broken now, and STAY THE WAY YOU ARE. I'm tired of keeping up with all these changes and the bugs they produce. It's just annoying. And I know for a fact that I'm not the only one who feels this way. You are so lucky you're a monopoly, and all my friends also use you, or I'd be out of here in a flash.
Also, you need to make it easier to contact you so more people can bitch and moan at you without filling up your suggestion box. I know you probably won't even read this, but it makes me feel better so SUCK IT.

wow it's been a while. that sucks. anyway...

update number 1: so i've been experimenting with tumblr, and i love it, but i've spent way too much time on blogger to just ditch it. so i'm going to be playing around with tumblr and figuring out what to use it for. it will probably for design stuff that sticks out, and the "in-between" stuff - just little updates and tidbits that i'd like to share with the interwebz, but nothing really important. anyway, that can be found here.

four: school has started. its not that bad.

just threw together a new design...started it last night, and finished a little while ago.

again, a result of watching way too much fuel tv. watching some skate video and some guy had a shirt that said "enjoi" in helvetica and all stylized. thought it was cool, and i liked the message, but i didn't want to use "enjoi" because i figured it was some brand-name or something.
the lil' guys on there are from a custom brush pack, the star is a custom shape and the texture is from a grunge paper pack i found a while back. i used a texture from that in "it's all replaceable": [link]

so over the past month i've found some pretty amazing music. they've basically become my summer soundtrack...they're AY-EM-AYZING.

1. Dude Whatever It's Summer 2k9

this compilation is basically my life.. it features an elclectic mix of all kinds of crazy mashups, remixes and originals. the first track is a bit on the...strange side, and i wouldn't choose it as my opening track, but after that, it's all quality music. we were sick by the thermals is probably my favorite, although the dam funk remix of summertime clothes by animal collective is an extremely close second. love by j dilla & pharoahe monch is such an amazing song, and although it doesnt exactly mesh with the other tracks, it ends up fitting quite nicely and changes up the attitude for 3 minutes and 7 seconds. same goes for the mos def track. michael jackson even makes a guest appearance with p.y.t.

2. In The Daylight Anywhere Feels Like Home

the title of the compilation was taken from lyrics of one of the tracks on the mix, Daylight by Matt and Kim. let's just say that the matt and kim station on last.fm is my new favorite. it is such an amazing song, and it was even featured in a new bacardi mojito commercial. as for the rest of the compilation, it's just as amazing. better things by passion pit is probably one of my favorite songs right now. i could listen to this comp for days.

3.torn-up by e-603

now i've been listening to e-603 since he released his first album in early 2008. he was always second or third in my mind in the mashup industry behind girl talk (of course) and the hood internet. his tracks were decent, but just that...good. not amazing. they all felt kind-of oddly mismatched, if that makes any sense. i guess i just felt like they were a little hard to follow. but if you told me girl talk released a new album, and played this for me, i would totally beleive it. the album starts off pumping hard and keeps it going strong throughout the entire album. check this guy out.

check these guys out: they're doing a marathon (again) for the same charity that i did guitar hero marathon for last summer - actually, now that i'm thinking about it, they inspired ghmarathon with last year's mario marathon. so check them out, even for a couple minutes (although a couple hours is a bit more like it). i plan on staying up with them and watching every minute of it, but i did have to miss a couple hours earlier today because i had to play a gig with my band. anyway, they're doing it for a really great charity: child's play. this stuff is great. check them out here:

so i was just randomly stumbling around the web (stumbleupon.com), and of course, my account is finely tuned to my oh-so-hipster (or rather, geeky) obsessions and preferences, and came across this: humus. the stuff on this site is brilliant. i hate that you need to download a zip file, unzip it, and then run a flash file, but its so worth it. so far my favorites are 4 and 12, and i'm having trouble getting 13, but they're all fascinating and every single one features incredibly talented artists. check it out.

one, michael jackson is dead. i wasn't a huge fan, and my life is still pretty much the same...so i'm not going to make stuff up about being depressed and about to lock myself in my vinyl closet...

Cevat Yerli, Crytek CEO, has suggested that the upcoming game Crysis 2 will for the most part max out the PS3's technology.

Yerli says the performance analysis of the game shows full occupation of the CPUs, the Cell, and the GPUs, adding there is very little more they could push.

His quote directly: "The interesting thing is we did run a performance analysis on the PS3 devkit, and you know the funny thing is the occupation on all the CPUs, the Cell and the GPUs, is pretty much – the needle is at the limit."

"There’s not much more you can do," he added, "and frankly the breakthrough was very recent, and otherwise we would’ve had a compromised strategy on the consoles, which we don’t have now."

so i went to the apple store the other day to replace my dead ipod (4th ipod i've had to get replaced...all off the same original purchase). here is the survey i filled out in response:

I got to the Apple store at around 5:45 (if I remember correctly), and I went right to one of the display macs, clicked on Concierge and booked a 6:00 time slot at the Genius Bar. I sat around and waited until I was called over at 6:42. I would have been completely fine with the exact same wait if the system had told me that I wouldnt be able to be served until 6:30, and it was only 12 minutes later, but this was almost 45 minutes. Unacceptable. I got up to the counter, and told Alton that I had a dead hard drive - I knew this to be true by the clicking sound and because I have gone through multiple iPods, but I have continued to buy Apple. Then he told me that I was in fact correct, and went to get a replacement (I was ready to pay the $130 for a replacement). He came back and told me that there wasn't a replacement in stock and that I would need to wait 3-4 days, which is going to end up being more like 5 because I am going to be on vacation this weekend. So to summarize my Apple Store experience: Waited around for about 45 minutes, was told something I already knew, and walked out of the store in the EXACT same position I was in when I walked in; iPod-less. Honestly, iPod is the only product I would ever think about buying from Apple, and this has gotten me thinking about my media player choice; I am seriously considering looking elsewhere for a different media player.

i want a lensbaby. a lot.

unfortunately, i seem to changes interests on a somewhat random cycle. design, podcasting, photography, computers, skimboarding, remixes and mashups, cars, drumming, painting, blogging, music, video games, more computers...and the like. that also means that my wishlist changes on a regular basis...

i recently forced myself to write down a permenant list of things to buy, not to be altered by anything but the most epic change of heart...

and as it stands:

1. turntables (dmix 600)
2. sick headphones (blue and yellow sk-pros)
3(tie). graphics card (either 9800GTX+ or GTS 250, and i'll have to buy a new PSU since the one that came with the case blows hard)
3(again...its a tie). a PA system for the turntables/shows in my basement
...
everything else (including various drums, cymbals, mics, mixers, a video camera, a new skimboard, and that damn lensbaby that i want ever-so-much)

and now that my laptop AND ipod have broken, i have no clue what i'm going to do. hopefully my parents will absorb the laptop and ipod (they probably will), and im getting payed this week for the filming ive been doing since march ($400ish), AND i just landed a freelance job over the summer doing SEO/design/blogging/directing for a family friend (about $1000 worth of work)

so hopefully by the end of the summer, i'll have it all

and somehow, i forsee a lingering unhappiness with the shit i have lying around my room, and will have moved on to wanting more useless shit to have lying around my room...

i've been listening to these guys forever, and i love them...so i thought i'd share the love.

the hood internet is made up of two guys, STV STV and ABX. they do mashups in the same style as girl talk, but they mostly focus on 2 to 4 songs instead of the insane 25 sample songs that gregg gillis does. they're focus is on mashing popular maintsream rap with good ole' indie stuff that noone's heard of (except me of course). the duo has released five "albums", three compilations and two focus albums, one vs. the pack and one vs. chicago bands.
